Global response to Trump's call for warships, Israeli poll on Iran war

As we have been reporting, U.S. President Donald Trump is calling for many countries

to send warships to protect the Strait of Hormuz, so far no countries have at least

publicly agreed. British officials have told U.S. media that the UK is, quote,, discussing

a range of options to ensure the security of shipping in the region. Also speaking

to U.S. media, Chinese Embassy officials said that Beijing is calling for hostilities

to stop and that all parties have the responsibility to ensure stable and unimpeded energy supply.

Japanese officials told local media that Japan won't dispatch ships just because Trump

asked, saying Japan decides its own response, an independent judgment is fundamental.

The France has said that it's not sending ships, posting on X. No, the French aircraft

carrier and its group are staying in the Eastern Mediterranean. Posture has not changed

defensive it is. Saudi Arabia's defence ministry says that it destroyed and intercepted at

least ten drones in Riyadh and eastern regions of the country overnight, but the Revolutionary

Guard Corps in Iran denied any connection to the attack and urged the Saudi government

to investigate further. More than 800,000 people have been forcibly displaced by Israeli

strikes on Lebanon so far. Many of them are seeking shelter across the border in Syria,

where land crossings from Lebanon have been flooded by people since the U.S. Israeli

war in Iran broke out. The U.N. says that nearly half of those fleeing Lebanon to Syria

are children. The Israeli government has started this war on Iran in an election year, the

voter schedule for October 2026. And while governments can sometimes see a bump in public

support for both party and leader during wartime, it's not clear that that's happening

right now in Israel. As Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hasn't gained much in a poll conducted

last week, 38% of Israelis said that they trust in that's a four point increase from

the previous study. The level of trust in the government also rose by a limited four

points to just 34%. Now, even if they're not sure about the government, Israelis support

the war on Iran in vast numbers. More than 80% say they're in favor of the attacks. A small

number of Israelis were out on the streets of Tel Aviv on Saturday, protesting against

the war. They said they didn't want to support forever wars. The protest was interrupted

by an air raid siren warning of an incoming missile.
