Greg McDermott Retires, Alan Huss Takes Over Creighton

On March 23rd, Creighton's head men's basketball coach Greg McDermott announced his retirement

after 16 years leading the Blue Jays.

The 61-year-old leaves as the program's all-time winningest coach with 365 victories, two

big-east regular season titles, 11 NCAA tournament appearances, two sweet 16 runs and an

elite 8 finish in 2023.

McDermott built the team into a consistent contender despite the season's challenges, including

injuries that led to a 15-win, 17 loss.

Record, the Blue Jays fought through a tough, big-y schedule and made the conference tournament

but fell short against Seton Hall.

Players and fans have long praised his steady leadership, class, and focus on faith, family,

and team.

His 25 years of Division I coaching experience, including stints at Northern Iowa and Iowa

State, shaped Creighton into a respected program.

Before he arrived in 2010, Alan Huss steps in as the new head coach after posting a 56

and 15 record over two seasons at Highpoint.

McDermott will guide the team for one final game next week in the Crown Tournament.

With Huss at the helm, Creighton enters a fresh chapter aimed at rebuilding momentum

through strong recruiting and the same high standards that define McDermott's era.
