The Toronto Blue Jays kicked off their series against the Arizona Diamondbacks with a tough

6-3 loss on Friday.

Their 6th defeat in the last.

8 games.

Injuries have hit them hard lately, putting extra weight on the core players to spark the

offense.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. stepped up with a 1-4-0 night including an RBI single, but in the

eighth inning, he tweaked his left index finger, while chasing a play.

The team held its breath, already scraping the bottom of the American League East.

Manager John Schneider eased worries after the game, saying Guerrero should be good to

go Saturday.

That's huge relief, since the Jays can't lose their most reliable bat right now.

On top of that, George Springer is out with a fractured left big toe, Alejandro Kirk,

and Addison Barger are on the injured list, and Dalton Varsho.

Left early as a precaution, now day-to-day, with no scans needed.

Toronto looks to bounce back Saturday at Chase Field, first pitch 8-10 PM Eastern, with

Max Scherzer starting against that gallon.

Keeping Guerrero in the lineup could flip this series their way.
