The law firm, Jake and Jake here with you on a Tuesday.
Sorry for the delay.
We didn't mean to do that.
A couple of conflicts came up on Monday,
but we're back with the Georgia show.
And as always, plenty to talk about.
Georgia with one week of spring practice under its belt.
Some interesting developments along the way.
Dogs have added a new piece for the class of 2027.
We'll touch on that as well.
And there's more going on than just football.
Mike White and team got bounce a little bit.
How we feeling about that.
And those guys on the diamond making a little bit of noise.
Jake Rowe, what's the feeling, brother?
My wife and company got dribbled.
I don't think they got dribbled himself.
It's interesting to get to that part of the show, though,
because I mean, I don't know.
I feel like I've got some pretty strong takes about that one.
For somebody that really doesn't ever call for a coach's job
or really doesn't call for a coach's job.
I understand the folks out there that are a little bit frustrated with it.
But you know, we got spring practice to talk about here first.
And we had a little order we were going to go in,
but I'm going to move this one up, man.
And this is right there.
I feel like it's probably the most important thing kind of going on.
And I want to tell folks, this is not some big long-term deal.
This is not something that I think is going to have
barring a major setback.
It's not going to have any impact on the 2026 season.
Beyond the fact that Gunners going to be limited for most of,
if not all of this spring, reported on Thursday, I think it was,
of last week, that Gunner had a pretty heavy sleeve wrap.
One of those kind of neoprene-looking knee braces on his left knee.
And come to find out when they rolled around 11-11s on Saturday, Gunner was,
I mean, I don't know that he got any reps.
It was Paglisian and Ryan Montgomery.
I don't know specifically what it is.
I just know it's a left knee.
And I know that it's not expected to keep him out for very long.
But I think they will be careful with it this spring to prevent that setback.
And I think they're happy to do it because if you think about it,
yeah, Gunner's got a lot he can get better at.
But I mean, listen, man, it's got to take him practice rep upon practice rep.
So, you know, missing some spring practice reps isn't the end of the world.
In fact, when they scrimmaged toward the end of last fall,
if you'll remember, Ryan Paglisian was getting a ton of first-team reps
because they're trying to get him ready.
Well, this just allows Georgia to keep getting Ryan Paglisian and Ryan Montgomery
and Hezekiah Melander, Buddha, as they call him, get those guys plenty of reps.
Not the Amish Buddha, but just Buddha.
Brother Hezekiah.
I think that there's some, I don't know about silver lining,
but I don't know how many reps Gunner is truly missing out on from like an 11 on 11 standpoint.
Still doing all the drill works, still routes on air, seven on seven, all of that stuff.
But, but, you know, I do want folks to know, listen, you talk to your buddy that without
the practice or, you know, you talk to somebody who talked to somebody, hey, Gunner's not with the ones,
that's why it's not because of any other reason, not that I would have a problem with it one way or the
other. I'm not trying to like run interference here. Gunner's banged up and that's just all
there's to it. And, you know, they're trying to get him fully healthy before the start of the
2026 season. That is absolutely expected. I think he's, they think, I mean, I was told they're
expected to for him to be fully healthy by the time they start these throwing summer, summer
throwing sessions after finals and after the break in May. And heck, for all I know, he may be
full go come G day. But for these next few weeks, for sure, I think they're going to be real careful
with it. Yeah. And, you know, like you said, I'll be honest, Jake, it's, it's weird to say this,
but it feels like this is just not necessarily a negative. You don't want anybody to be injured,
right? Ever. But at the same time, if it's something that's not serious and it's this position where
you want to build the depth, look, Gunner's docked and like you said, I'm not saying I'm not sitting
here telling you the guy probably can't get better for throwing some more balls. But at the same
time, he's been doing a lot of that in the off season as well. I mean, there's just not in my
opinion a ton for him to gain by going through another yet another spring practice that he can't
really work on in his own time or over the summer. But, you know, we're in fall camp. I mean,
these are all things that he can continue to get better at. And spring practice in a lot of ways,
I think is about acclimating the younger guys and getting those guys ready. And, you know,
this is a good opportunity for those guys. And to be fair, I think also to you and I both have
heard some positive things about the backups and how they're coming along as a result and how
they've stepped into those roles. I dare say that Gunner could probably improve just as much
by really digging into himself from last year. You know, every single snap, every single rep,
you know, those cups of where did I go wrong here? Where did I rush through my progressions there?
Where did I, you know, miss this guy because I had moved on from him too quickly or, or, you know,
hey, I bailed out of the pocket when I didn't have to here. You know, and I'm pointing to all
criticisms that I've had of Gunner in the past, you know, for sure. But what it boils down to a Gunner,
having this conversation with somebody today, we've talked about it multiple times over the podcast,
talked about it multiple times on dollars HQ plus so many times on our message board is,
man, Gunner was so good. And I went, I've gone back and I've watched every single snap from the
from the 2026 season. That's 2025 season. Sorry, 2026 season, you know, let's move to another state
and get some better. Let's do that back to the future. Let's get rich. But look back at 2025
season, like, man, when he was on, when he played well, like Georgia could give up five touchdowns
in its first five possessions and still win. When he was on, Georgia could give up several plays
of 30 yards or more like I did against Tennessee and win. When, when he's on, they can carve up a good
talented defense like they did against Texas. You know, like that, that's, that's how good they are.
I don't know. I don't want to be that kind of, I feel like as a, as somebody who's covered a
beat for a long time, one of the things that I fear is being viewed as that guy who thinks that
the team he covers is just the end all be on. Sure. I certainly don't believe that about Georgia.
I'll tell you right now, when Gunner's not on, Georgia's beatable by just about anybody.
But I don't know that Georgia, I don't know that Georgia can be beat, especially in 2026 with 21
players coming back with significant experience on the defensive side of the ball. Eight of them are
not eight or nine of them are five stars. I think ten or I think we're around 10, maybe 11 of them were
rated five stars by at least one service. I don't know that they can be beaten if Gunner is on.
And so the key is, all right. Well, let's raise Gunner's floor when he's not playing well, he's still
playing winning football and kind of turn that guy that was around for four and a half to five games
last year into a guy that's going to be around for nine and a half 10 games this coming year.
And if that happens, Georgia's going to play for a long time next season. It's going to be a long
year, Jake. It's going to be a long year. We're going to need some, we're going to need some five
hour energies like Rusty's popping out all the time. It's got to wear every time I see Rusty. He's
got a five hour energy bustling out of his backpack. But that's how long of a year it's going to be
if they can get that out of Gunner. No, I agree with you completely. And look, I mean,
I guess the other side of this too is for all the Gunner naysayers and all the people who don't
like what Gunner is talking to. Listen, I'm not going to sit here and tell you this isn't his team.
But simultaneously, you got a battle going on for that number two spot. You've got the, you've got
those guys fighting it out. And look, I mean, they're crazy. Your things that have happened
that a guy seizing the brass ring, right? If you're, if you're a huge Ryan Paglisi fan,
and you just, yeah, like if, and I don't know, I don't tend to become like massive fans of these
kids like that because I, it's just practice. But if you're just like, man, this kid needs to be
starting quarterback. He's got the goods. He's got a chance to go be undeniable. Yeah, exactly.
Olden opportunity just to be just to go and be undeniable. Yes. And whether he does it,
I still think it's good for his long-term progress. Agreed. A hundred percent. A hundred percent.
But there's, listen, I want to mention this too. I'm a Gunner. He's a really good player. And,
you know, which is so interesting because it felt, you know, I think a lot of people viewed him
in his class. I'll just say it openly. He was a bit of a throwaway player.
But he was actually, he was a bronze medal because you had dollars and, uh,
Juju Lewis ahead of it. And so it felt like that was kind of, that was your white flag pickup.
He was the kid that wanted to come to you and you didn't really want him. And so, uh, but,
no, it sounds, I heard some great positive things about him on the floor.
Georgia went and turned on the lights in the Ryan Montgomery room and he was standing right
there and he was like, hey, where you been? Of course, I'm not going to go to Florida or South
Carolina. I'm going to go to Georgia. Right. You watch his film from high school. Obviously,
before he got hurt. And he's a talented kid. Like, he's a good athlete. He moves around well. He
has a good arm. Um, but it's, it's processing and kind of that, that, that mental speed with which
you want to quarterback to work at. That's where I think he kind of has been able to show himself
without having last spring. This is his real first spring, getting the chance to practice with
the team. He was, he was hurt last spring. And, you know, you started to hear a little buzz about
him in preseason camp. Um, even to the point in that final scrimmage that Georgia had, I know,
I think it was two versus two's and three's versus three's. Somebody told me like he threw
for nearly 400 yards in that last scrimmage they had on about 25, you know, throws because he
was just that accurate on the deep ball, especially to CJ Wiley. But it's the processing speed.
And now that he's fully healthy from that knee injury, he's over a year removed. He's able to
kind of use some of his athleticism there too. I'm really interested to see kind of how he grows
because if, if that's the truth and, and he's processing that well, then, I mean, that, that's
big at the quarterback position. I mean, we've seen a lot of guys with kind of lesser Joe Burrows
an example of this. Not saying that that that Ryan Montgomery's going to be Joe Burrow by any
stretch, but Joe Burrow has kind of smallish hands. Um, you know, not the, you know, doesn't have
the biggest hands, doesn't have just like a laser for an arm or even a great arm, I would say.
But he's just got off. There's a he's a football player and he, any processes the game really quickly.
And if if Ryan Montgomery can kind of continue to improve the way he does that through reps
and through practice and through these reps that he's getting with, with Gunner out probably an
increased number, I mean, I'm going to see what that, what that job looks like next year because I
do believe that unlike Carson taken over for Stetson and unlike Gunner Stockton taken over for Carson
whenever he had some starting experience under his belt and big games. If Gunner stays healthy this
year, that, that job is going to be very much wide open because we're not talking about a fourth or
fifth year guy like Carson was coming into that year and we're not talking about a guy with
starting experience. We're talking about two guys, one year apart, duking it out and maybe even
Bryson Beaver and, and, and, and brother has a kind of Melander going on in there too. So, you
know, there's just, it's, it's going to be a little bit of a different story come next season for
that, for that quarterback job. From unsolved mysteries to unexplained phenomena, from comedy

Music app today. Yeah, no, absolutely, I think so as well. Outside of quarterback though, Jake,
there's a lot more going on in spring practice. The buzz continues to kind of come out.
One of the more interesting pieces that I've heard, I know Rusty mentioned it in one of his
pieces here recently, sounds like there's some growth happening along the offensive line. One of
those names that you had hoped may kind of begin to progress has progressed a bit and sounds like
John Jackson is a guy who's getting into the mix in a big way. Be interesting to see if he's
able to hold on and maintain that, but that's, that's an intriguing name, Jake. I think all of us
would admit that because of that rare size that he possesses. Yeah, and the crazy thing about
this one is, you know, got to know a few NFL scouts over the years. And one of the things that I'll
say about about Jackson is, you know, he, I've talked to scouts who were kind of like, hey,
listen, that kid, that basketball kid at Georgia, the one that they brought in as a basketball kid,
who hadn't played football since middle school when he signed at Georgia.
Um, I've heard, I've had scouts tell me like this, this kid's got the, he's, he's the real deal.
He's got the tools like he's got, it's all got to come together for him. It's got to happen for him
between the ears. He's got to learn what to do and be confident in what he's doing. But the tools
are absolutely there. He moves people. He can pass, protect, obviously the links outrageous. Like,
I'd love to know how long his arms are. Oh my god. Do you imagine the wingspan has got to be
already? Let me see if I can find that. Yeah, I don't know that we have it anywhere because
he never got the combine or anything like that. He never got to go to like an underarmor camp
or because he played it over time and elite and he get entered the NBA draft and all that stuff.
But I would venture to say he's got 35 plus inch arms, maybe 36 plus inch arms, which is rare.
Because I mean, listen, this maybe one of the tallest offensive linemen ever played the game,
you know, this is from, okay, this is from something called ball is life on Facebook. So take
that for whatever you will. They say the wingspan seven four. I mean, inches is that seven four
carried to us 88 inches. It's something like that. I don't know. Man, I'm as an English major.
Don't ask me math on here. Yeah, I don't really look at wings because, you know, when you look at
wings, like how wide your body is. Yeah. You're in that too. Like you're a giant broad shoulder dude
and you hold your arms out. Then you can be, you know, you might not have arms as long as the next.
Might have arms two inches shorter than the next guy. But, you know, you're still, you know,
you're still out there. I look at kind of arm length and I believe kind of that that cut off for
an NFL draft pick is like 34 inches. And I think John Jackson is probably in the 36 inch range,
which would be outrageous. You know, it's not uncommon. I think that I don't think it's like a
he's his could be like the longest they've ever seen. I will say that. Like I mean it,
it could be the longest and if he ever goes to the NFL comment about the longest arms that have
ever been to the NFL combine. And I'm simply going off the fact that the man's 16. Yeah, that should.
And you just don't go to the NFL combine. But listen, there was a point man on our board. And I
think it's, I think it's worth mentioning spring exuberance, right? Like you, you feel good about
guys to start out spring. They get off the quick starts and you start thinking about, well,
if he's this good now, then what's he going to be at practice 15 or what practice 14 and what's
he going to be at G day? I get it. I get it. I'm just saying he's off to a quick start. And
they're feeling pretty good about him. And, you know, right now, I believe he's in the plan.
He's getting a lot of room with the ones he's working at right tackle. They're, they're a trio
of freshmen, a Kanye Boca Graham Houston is like he helped them that are also kind of making some
noise there. So really it sounds like, you know, they've got to got turned in a little bit of a
corner here to join Juan Gaston, Doncho Glover, Drew Bobo, and Ernest Green and Malachat Oliver,
who's got a few starts under his belt. So all of a sudden you start to look at it and you're kind
of like, all right, you got five guys right there with experience. You got a giant talented guy
that's turning a corner. You got three freshmen that that you're feeling pretty good about. Michael
Looney got some significant play in time last year. Daniel Calhoun's a really talented player.
You start to look at that and you're like, Hey, if we could bat 75 to 85, you know, 750 to 800 here
on these guys, then you've got eight or nine guys that she feel pretty good about playing. And,
you know, my biggest question, Mark, for George's offense coming into this season is either
receiver or offensive line. And I don't have a problem with the talent on either level. I just
think they're young at some spots in the office of line. Maybe they're lacking a little bit of depth.
But the more I hear, the more I feel good about the depth on my line. Yeah, I could definitely see
why I understand that. And look, you know, my thing was this about Chad Jackson. I heard the same
thing, you know, talked to somebody, Hey, look, you know, this kid's looking good. I said, they said,
what do you think about it? I said, there's a lot of spring heroes. You know, I mean, there's
it's a tale as old as time. There are a lot of guys who are going to look unbelievable. There's
guys that are going to show up to G day and blow people's minds. And you're going to think,
oh my God, he's the next one up. So it all sounds really good. And I agree. I mean, look,
I'm sure Chad Jackson is moving people around in a way that not a lot of guys can because he's not
a lot of guys. He's built like, I mean, he's a side show to some degree, man. I mean, he's unbelievable
in how big he is. Will that translate you hope so? But I do caution people a bit when, you know,
when the hype starts rolling out for the spring guys, you know, take it all with the grain of salt.
Well, I'll tell you what what also translates to is comes come season time,
John Jackson rolls in there, game one, game two, struggles some, they're going to say we pump
them up on John. Oh, yes, he was the best thing ever. But they won't remember the fact that we
said, hey, listen, long way to go. Yeah, translate to you. Say it every time, but people just don't
realize that like, yeah, we'll have that caveat, but they really tend to forget the caveat. And I don't
understand that. I know we got some dogs HQ plus coming. So I want to encourage people to get
over there and check that out, but anything else, you kind of really buzz out of spring practice
that you picked up on. No, not really. I mean, a few things here and there, but, you know, most of
that, you know, it's kind of like projection type stuff. I know Jamarly Riddles dinged up as well.
He's going to compete for that safety spot in time, but he's dinged up. Isaiah Canyon came in
to spring practice also with it with an injury battle in the sports hernia from the offseason.
But he's he's looked really good. And I think they feel really good about him. So stay tuned. You
know, I mean, we got we got four more weeks of this stuff. And there's going to be plenty to talk
about, especially right here on the Georgia show, dogs HQ plus, you know, even the website. I mean,
50% off a year right now, you can get a year at half price over at dogs HQ. So go check that out.
But we'll be talking about all of it every day. And it's just kind of what we do. It's kind of what we do.
It's exactly what we do. Look, we spent a lot of time talking about the offensive line and some
of the concerns there. Georgia working toward the 2027 class on that front as well here recently with
a new addition to the commitment list. And this one, Jake, a legacy. And I told you, I wrote it in
the story. I said, look, you know, legacies don't mean what they used to. And I else changed a lot
of that. Not the case here, man. The legacy meant a lot to this guy. Ty Johnson, a 2027 offensive
tackle at a Lucy Beckham high school in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, six foot six. We got
him listed at 280. His profile or his huddle, I think, hasn't been about 305 if I'm not mistaken. So
my guess is he plays probably a little closer to that 300 range. So what he's currently listed at
on there. This is a guy, Jake, his father, Travis Johnson, a 1993 signing with the Bulldogs.
Lot of red and black in this family, man. And clearly it meant a lot to the kid. He grew up going
to the Georgia games. He's just diving the wool red and black. I mean, there were other teams
after himself. Carolina was big in this one. You would see really liked him as well. But this was a case
ultimately where I think the kid followed his heart and where he wanted to be. And that was with
Georgia. And I got to tell you, I like to pick up. I like the film. I think that he's got a lot
of usable traits. I think that he's a guy who prides himself on versatility. He says, look,
I can play any any of the five positions you need me to think he gets to the second level real
easily. And I said on the board, too, man, when Kirby smart and the rest of these college football
coaches out there go to sleep at night, the thing you pray for is six foot six 300 pound legacies.
It's the one thing that you hope for in droves because you just can't have enough of them.
Now, one thing I will say about the legacies, all right. So, you know, I get it, you know,
some of them have slipped away from Georgia just as Haines, you know, DJ Jacobs. Maybe there's
another one that I'm not thinking of. But Georgia also signed three players in last year's class that
had big brothers that played for Georgia too. So, you know, PJ Dean Carter Lucky. I'm missing one.
A Kanye Boca. You know, so that, you know, it's still by a pretty high average on the legacies
for the most part. And, you know, listen, I know the guys who do the rankings and I know what they value.
And with office articles, they value guys with a link who can move and who can carry 300 pounds.
And I suspect Todd Johnson has a good shot. They end up a four star prospect before this whole
thing is over. He's not far out of the, he's not far out of that conversation right now. I believe
he's at about 430 in the nation. If I'm not, that's pretty tight. That's pretty tight. Yeah. Yeah.
And, you know, they've already got Kelsey Adams on board. Yep.
Who I continue. I like him a lot. I mean, Georgia's done a really good job with with office
sublimated at Langston Hughes. Um, you know, those guys have helped them win some ball games over
the years. Um, and, and so I like what Georgia's got as far as this class goes. Um, and I like what
it can continue to add in this class. You know, they're going to continue swinging for the fences.
But, but this one was an open and shut case. I mean, I think this one went down to as far as like
planned on committing Sunday, moved it up the Saturday.
All the other day, he could go ahead and get it out of the way. Um, so this, this kid, like you
said, died in the wool. And, uh, you know, um, I hate to call it low hanging fruit because that
comes with a negative connotation that that you didn't have to work for and it's not that valuable.
But this, I do believe these, these kind of additions are very valuable. This, this is the kind
of kid where you've got a really good shot of him giving you three years to, to improve himself
and to find his way on the field as opposed to, hey, once year one is up, I am, I cannot wait
for that transfer portal window to open. And then you've got to figure out, hey, this kid that,
that, that battled for depth or maybe even played on your scout team all year, how much do we
want to up the ante to try and keep them? You know, those are the decisions, man, that I know coaches
right now are just that those decisions make them cringe. Like they don't want to have to,
hey, you didn't play it all for us last year. You didn't play much or you were a depth piece,
you were a true freshman. I got to figure out whether I want to raise your salary or raise your,
you know, compensation by 75 to 100% just to keep you around or not. Those are tough decisions to
make. And the less of those you have for a guy like Kirby smart, um, the consequence,
the, I mean, the benefits are long term. He'll live long. He'll live longer. He'll live longer.
Till we did, I didn't have Thai jazz and extending Kirby smarts long jiffy.
Not, not as a coach just in life. How valuable he is. Can I help Kirby live longer?
No, it's a good pick up, like I said. I like the film. I think he's a kid who,
has picked some buzz up through the spring, got the offer back in January from Georgia.
You know, it was one of those, you have to, I think that we know this too, Jay. And we've seen
them kind of do this over the last couple of years. Georgia has been very selective with its
legacy offers. There's been some, there've been some guys in the last couple of classes. In fact,
that, um, like Thomas Davis Jr., right? Um, like they waited a long, long time until they pulled
the trigger. And by that time he had some other team. Yeah. Yeah. They, they, he felt a lot more
solidly about it. They're a little, they're, they're a little gunshot. And I get it because
it's a big deal. When you take it, when you take a legacy guy, you want to keep the thing rolling
and have everybody happy. I'm sure you want to take exactly that's the chair for a fact. I mean,
you know, I know shade to this kid at all, but like I think about it, Jayden Hunter type,
right? Like Jayden Hunter just, I mean, it just never zero traction at Georgia. And he's
back at Georgia now as an assistant coach as an all field staffer, but zero traction at Georgia.
And you don't want that to happen to your legacies, like you don't want to bring into a position
where they may not quite belong, you know, and so you want a double check, make sure it's not a
negative thing. It's not like a, um, it's nothing more than like we, we, we want to bring this guy in
if he can also go out live that legacy or go on or that legacy as opposed to somebody that,
you know, maybe better served kind of at least starting their career at a little bit of a lower level.
And those are always tough decisions to make. Another one was Miley and Richard back in the day.
I mean, he was Herschel Walker's nephew, but I remember Miley and Richard, you know, tied in,
and Georgia was crewing Jeb Blaisevich in the same class. And Georgia took a little while before
it really turned up the heat on Miley and Richard. And I think that ultimately when Jeb Blaisevich
committed and took that spot, you know, Miley and Richard wanted to be at Georgia at the time.
But Georgia had to be careful about offering that kid and about fixing really hard for that kid
because, I mean, you know, you, you do that and, and you take him and he's just not quite there.
And then things didn't pin out for him either. You, you lose out on a really good player, you know,
and, and, and, you know, on somebody else you could assign to that spot and this, especially now that
money's involved in this business. And, and you've re, and now I think you've got to be even,
um, but, you know, that's not to say that they didn't miss, they want DJ Jacobs. They want
it just as Haynes. There we have those two deals just didn't work out. Sure. No, absolutely.
Blame it on Marty. So switching gears here a little bit. We're thrilled to have our friend Andy

Jay, I own a little bit of a heater on the diamond here, man. I believe five of the last six,
if I'm not mistaken, have been wins for the diamond dogs. Georgia currently sitting at 20 and five.
And one slip up here recently against the San M in the last game on Sunday. But outside of that,
man, eight and two over Texas A&M, nine and four over Texas A&M, eight and five over Citadel,
eight and seven over Tennessee, four and two over Tennessee. Things are going well. They're swinging
real well, man. For a limited time, get one of these Jimmy John sandwiches, Jimmy Chip
Center drink for only $8.99. Choose the fan favorite turkey tom with all natural turkey or
the Pepe with smoked ham and provolone, the eight 99th meal deal at Jimmy John's. Oh, that's good.
Limited time at participating locations, valid on turkey tom and the Pepe eight inch home
includes chips and regular fountain beds, up charges apply on bottle beds, premium sides and
desserts, not valid with other offers, tax add-ons extra. Yeah, hit a boatload of home runs against
Texas A&M on Saturday. And the thing I do, and it's funny that I'm saying this about a team that
lost 19 to five on Sunday. But I like this pitching staff more than I have other Georgia staffs
in the past. I mean, you know, going out there and beating Tennessee four to two, you know,
a couple of Saturdays ago, winning eight to two, you know, the past Saturdays, you know, there's two
run, you know, two, three runs, you know, and keep in the score down. I mean, those are going to be
hard Georgia teams to beat the way they swing the sticks, you know, I mean, and the funny thing is
is like a couple of years ago, Charlie Connan hit an, and it just an inordinate amount of home runs.
And then, you know, Ronald Zabberowski did the same thing last year and now Dan Jackson's picked
up that mantle, not number 47, but a different Dan Jackson has pulled up that mantle and you've
got, you know, Trey Phelps, you've got the Hudson kid at first base that's, that's drilling the
baseball right now. I watched a lot of baseball, but Georgia baseball this weekend and I mean,
this is a really good team and they beat two, they've won series over two ranked teams when you go
to college station and win two out of three against the rank Texas and in team, you've done a
really good job. And the cool thing about it is hey, the starting pitching wasn't that great
on Friday night. I want to say Volchek went and ended up going a couple of innings, walked a lot
of batters, pitch count was high. Georgia's bullpen came in and just through what was it?
About six magnificent innings. I want to say, it may have been six scoreless, but it was either,
six scoreless six innings or one or two run ball. And, you know, Georgia was able to build a
lead out and get some guys some work in the ninth inning. And then Saturday, obviously they pitched
extremely well. The gay or Vee, I don't know how to pronounce his name. Pitch really well.
You know, they gave him four great innings and then the bullpen came into the great job there.
You know, the bats really woke up and kind of pulled away. So I think once Georgia, once this
Chicago gets fully healthy and once they really get Matt Scott, a transfer really from Stanford,
get him really settled into his full-time role. And kind of, I really think this is a team that's
playing good baseball now, but is capable of playing like great to elite baseball in May,
which is, which his team really needs. Yeah, absolutely. You've got Kennesaw State coming up,
today, actually they're playing. Also, South Carolina coming down the pipe at home at Foley Field,
a South Carolina program that's reeling a bit, replacing their skipper. So a chance for them to
kind of build this lead up, man, and continue to look good. Just deep in in series, just deep innings
series because a sweep's going to come. You know, the one thing you want to avoid, you want to win
as many series as possible, obviously, but you know, that's without sweeping them. You want to,
you want to sweep where you get the opportunity to sweep as often as you can, and you want to avoid
any and all sweeps. You know, you want to go into every series and get at least one game,
especially on the road. And I think if it all evens out, this is a team that could probably win
18 to 30, 20 to 30 games in the league. And if you do that, you're looking at a top eight national
seed again. And then that then the conversation becomes kind of what we're going to talk about about
basketball here just a second, playing better in the postseason because listen, none of,
none of Georgia's three major sports are really playing well in the postseason right now.
Yeah, well getting there, but they're not, they're not playing that well.
You mentioned the eight seed, and that was where Georgia fell in the round of 64. They were the
number eight seed dropped their opening game to St. Louis, the Billikens, and not just dropped the
game, Jake got got run through. St. Louis, absolutely, just put one on them. Yes, one, one, two to
77, the final in that one. Now to be fair, I do love that cream ab jewel, Jabbar kid from from
St. Louis. He's fun to watch play. But I don't know about fun to watch play. I mean, it's like
watching a big boat try to turn somebody on Twitter pointed out, they said, this guy just plays it
his own speed. He does. And it's kind of amazing to watch. But at any rate, Mike White and company
bounced in round one. And Jake, that it's stung. And I'll say this, not because you get,
not because you're out in round one, you hope that you would at least win a turning game.
But because of the manner in which it happened, this, it was, it was a bad effort, Jake. It was,
it did not look good. It didn't look like a team that was ready or prepared. It looked like it's,
I mean, the team got run off the court. And at the end of the day, that's where the criticisms
are arising from the Mike White peanut gallery. And quite frankly, I get it.
I do too. I really do. And I know he's not going to get fired. If he does, it would really
shock me. But here's the thing. If I were to calmly and respectfully and gentlemanly for the
first time in my life, kind of tell Mike White what I thought about this basketball team. I would
say coach, you've come in here and you've done a great job. You've done a great job getting us
to two NCAA tournaments in a row. That's an achievement at the University of Georgia.
What makes me very angry with you right now is the fact that despite making two NCAA tournaments
in a row, which I should be really happy about, we've gotten our pants pulled down in our back
porch painted red twice. Like I'm talking about to the point that with 10 minutes left to go,
15 minutes left to go in each of those games, we're done. We're done 25 minutes. In both cases,
really 20 minutes in to each of the NCAA tournament games you played the last couple of year.
And I'll say this, it's a little bit embarrassing. And it's kind of shameful that you at the University
of Georgia, you make two NCAA tournaments in a row. But all you can think about is just it
just speaks to how bad Georgia has played games that this is even a discussion. Sure.
And find a way to go out there and be competitive. Maybe you're competitive and you lose.
Nope, we're still not we're not talking about it the way we're they're so lucky that that game
tipped off at past 10 p.m. and that all the degenerate out there had been drinking all day and watching
the NCAA pop in their park as set from from the sick because they had, you know, I was already
passed out. You know, everybody was already passed out and would basketball by the time Georgia
played St. Louis that night or it would be a much bigger deal. And I don't think my white
necessarily deserves to get fired. But by now it's going to be a full year until they can have
any opportunity to flip the script and give people some things to because now let's say you have
a good offseason again and he's had a couple good ones in a row and you get some really good
players to come in and you sell them on this fast pace exciting style of offense that Georgia played
this past year. They go out. Man, it's not going to matter if Georgia goes 10 and 8 in the SEC.
Nobody's going to celebrate it. It's not going to matter when Georgia if and when Georgia makes an
SEC or any NCAA tournament next year. Everybody's going to be waiting for the shoe to drop
and see double a tournament. Sure. And I just hate that for Georgia basketball fans. I really do.
And you know, I say that while also acknowledging I think my wife's done a fine job at Georgia
getting them back competitive. Yeah, I mean, it's like it's really tough. It's a really tough
place to be caught because from a historic standpoint, he's really on point. But from a
where you hope to be standpoint, he's really underperformed. And two of the most difficult SEC
leagues that have ever existed. Yeah. And he's gotten them to the tournament through both of them.
Yes. And it's impressive. I get that. But it's just it's downright mind blowing that they have
been so bad in the tournament in their two chances that it almost erases all of it that it even
offsets significantly. It's one of those things that like I don't know if my wife looks at it
this way, but if I were in my wife's shoes just right here, I'm sitting there thinking, how did I do
this? How did this happen? I don't think I could have done this if I tried. It's just a wild
place to be in. But you know, I'm certainly not like all hope is lost for Georgia basketball.
And I've always been the kind of person like, hey, give me a great regular season. You know,
like I placed a lot of value in a team that I the team that I enjoy watching, giving me
three, four months of great, you know, fun stuff to follow. That's great. So I'm just different
that way, but I totally get where Georgia fans are coming from. They're hungry for NCAA tournament
success. And not only did they not experience that, they've experienced NCAA humiliation.
Guys, give us your thoughts down here in the comments about what you think Georgia basketball
needs to do. You stick with Mike White, you're riding it out. What do you call 11 of y'all,
Georgia basketball fans live? I mentioned sitting down, man. I'm interested to know.
