We're here preparing to go to the NFL tomorrow down in Melbourne, Kentie, you know, and Hoops and a few other people are going down. So points better out of way during this partner as tennis these. Kenny, you'll look a lot better than yours, of course, but yeah, I'm clearly shows you guts. I'm sucking it in. I might not be able to breathe for the show. That's a push ups or something before you can. I want to get what it helped you, mate. You've been in the field for many years ago. Let me tell you now, you've been in the NFL before. I have. Yeah, I've been to a few. I went to the last NFL game where it was actually these two teams playing was in L.A. at the old Olympic stadium that was there in before that. There'd been a new Sophie stadium there that the brands play out of it. I went there with my daughter, five or six years ago, something there. So it's been a while since I've been there. The Coleson. The Coleson, yeah. So, yeah, it was, I just a great day.
Now what? I don't know if I'll have that day in Melbourne, but just the hot dog guys, yeah, sorry. Oh, honestly, it was like, it was like a, it was like gourmet food. I was like, yeah, you get your hot dog and get wrapped in bacon and all these different sort of cheeses and peppers and all sorts of stuff. You can have one and, it was pretty, it was pretty special, mate. Yeah, good day. I went to a Super Bowl, too. I know you've been to Super Bowl. I went to a Super Bowl as well, which one? Which one? I went to the one, I think it was, I don't know what number it was, it was between the Packers and the Steelers at the Dallas, in Dallas. So, the new stadium? All the old stadiums up there. The new stadium, and it had not long opened and it was mind blowing. But I will say this, State of Origin is a much better spectacle than a Super Bowl. This thing? Oh, by Marlmy. I'm talking pure terms of the game, because the Super Bowl, what people don't realise is you sit there
and they actually go to breaks just for television ads. And you're sitting there, sort of just really doing nothing. At least the one I was at, the Dallas stadiums were the biggest school board in the world. And so they would play the ads or they'd show stuff up on there so you could watch something. But just out of nowhere, you got to sit there and the players, you literally see the players, get down, start doing some stretches and warmups to try and keep going. I keep warm for the game because the breaks are so long. So anyway, I would take an origin game over NFL every day of the week. I've been in two Super Bowls, I went to the one in New Orleans with the lights went off. That was 49ers and they played Baltimore, Baltimore won that. And that was Colin Kaepernick was the quarter back then, remember, he and he got into trouble for kneeling during the anthem. That's the one where the Ravens had that really good defensive team, you know, and just bashed everybody.
And the lights went off for half an hour during the game. And then the other one I went to was they had Princeton and I saw him purple rain. It was raining. It was raining. It was like purple lights that up the frame. That was amazing. That would have been, I've seen that on YouTube yet. Have a look at that. The rain comes down and so the purple lights, the rain picks up the purple lights and this is purple rain. It's pretty special. That was in my, I mean, somehow I end up staying at the same hotel as the bears. I played the bears. Well, now I was chained. I was a backpacker back at the scene. You are a, I tell you what, my, yeah, if you're going for the star, my, if you're someone's night, tell me, I'll give you a place anyway. Look at our forest tonight, Danny Melbourne. If you say, candy city boy, your beer, if you mentioned you, I don't know if we've got any fans day in the Melbourne doing my fans everywhere. We've got to make more chance of finding a, a fairy Melbourne, then you know, me buying your beer.
I'll be drinking. I'll buy your beer if you come up and say, get out of candy or hoops or myself for discos going down there with us. All right, candy. Let's start because these are hot, I think so. Let's start off. We're going to go through the guys before actually before that. There's been a news that the hammer has been offered 1.4 by the dolphins to stay big money, candy. Big money, but I'll tell you what, it's, he's worth every cent. And I'll look once this, this new cap, as we all speak about, kicks in, it's not going to be, not going to be dead type money. I'll get, it's top end, but there'll be other players who will probably more over the course of their contract. But my, he's just so important to them. He's the spark in their attack. I know if I'm worth gets a lot of accolades as well. But for me, the hammer is the guy when he's the one that when they hit the go button, the dolphins go. So him and the guitar, they're the two keys as far as I'm concerned at the dolphins.
They're the two players. They have to keep. I would have thought if you're paying him 1.4, you're almost conceding that you're going to lose someone of herb your boss. Look, Cap goes up. Now, Cap goes up once. Yeah, and look, hey, let's remember this. Cooper, Cooper costs a living in Brisbane. They want to stay with the winning team where they can win the grand final. There's all sorts of reasons to take under the stage that dolphins. I get it. I get it. Yeah. All right. Let's go. We're doing some nickel. Yeah, we are. Well, it's been long season. Well, it's been a sort of week too. It has. I'll tell you what, you can get away. You can get away off this way, didn't it? Well, I'm still pissed about the judiciary. I just, anyway, I don't know. Yeah, well, I was talking to someone yesterday about it. They said, mate, you've got to stop caring so much. It's all good food, but pressure. But you just got a distance yourself. Sometimes I think from all this because I sit there and I get. I get passionate about what's happening.
I know it's why white to refer to. Well, I do. Look at dude, mate. I got started playing rugby league when I was eight years old. It's been my whole life. I love the game. And just what's happening to the game. It disappoints me, mate. You try to, you want to fight for it. And then I'll sit down and think, it's just because I'm getting old, I'm getting old. I'm getting old. I'm screaming, a cloud-type people. And I don't like change. Like, young kids are enjoying this change in the game. That all people might age, don't like. And that's what I've got to try and understand sometimes. People might like certain things that are happening. Yeah, I remember all sorts of stuff that used to go on. And I sort of point for those days. But some of it kind of come back. But some of it, to me, is the fabric of the game. That we're just happy to surrender in there. Yeah, that's an attainment bullshit. It really has got hair up my ass.
That's stuff. I mean, I'll go, I'm really, the minute we start to keep going down the track, we started, we're keep going down this track. Who knows where it ends. And yet we are at the moment, rugby league fans. So I'll tell you a story about the all backs with the states of being and where you're at. So the all backs, I spoke to a coach at the all backs. And everyone talks about the legacy book and all the rest of it. Anyway, they got all these people in when the all backs kept, they kept filing it at the World Cup. And I couldn't understand why for three years, I was the best team in the world, and then come World Cup year, they couldn't win the World Cup. So anyway, they got in and year, they're the philosophy of the all backs. They pick carry their own bags, clean their own dress room, all that sort of stuff. This is where all started to come out of. But one of the things that didn't come out that is really, I think, probably more important. Well, I got in, he says, it'll get three states of being as an athlete.
He said the first is space mountain. Space mountain from Disneyland, right, which is basically a roller coaster in the dark. So you get on this roller coaster, you go through some doors and you're in pitch black. And that's, that changes a bit now. I took my daughter to that too. So trip. But anyway, but you're basically on a roller coaster in the dark. And you said you're in this roller coaster. You got nobody where you're at. You're going to go on and you've got no control over it. It's the worst place as a team you can be. He said the next phase is whitewater rafting. He said you're in a raft. He said you're with your team. The lazy river. Yeah, you go down down. That's what you're going down. That's what you're going down. You've got a paddle. But you've got, you know, the rapids coming up. You've got things you've got to overcome. You've got to figure out ways to get through it. And as a team, you figure out a solution to get through and you get down through the rapids. He said, then the, the, the last state, he said it's Formula One.
Everything's state of the art. Everything is just right there for you. Whatever your need is done. Whatever your need is the best that that can be given to you. And he said to the all blacks, that is where you are. And I also back and felt pretty chuffed with that. He said where you need to be is what water after. He said that's where teams need to be. He said because you are Formula One. He said, as soon as something goes wrong, you can't figure you out. Because everything's been laid on for you. You haven't worked out with each other how you work through problems. So when you find a problem in a game or in your performance or you know, through the weeks, you can't figure that out because everything's there for you. And this isn't supposed to happen. So you said you need to be whitewater rafty. And that's the attitude they then took from there. That's what then made them start to say, you know what? We're going to carry our own bags. We're not going to have all these treatments and luxuries and indulgences at the great teams.
We're going to go a little bit more blue collar nail. And they went back to that philosophy in their team. And that's what is basically what this doesn't have lots of World Cup since that. I really enjoyed the Von Samson you face to face on Fox. And they had obviously Arcan on there and they had some old footage of you in the early days. Jesus, you look good looking back there. Now it's good mate, it's really good. I mean, I mean, it must have been good for you to watch that. Yeah, look, obviously. I'm, well, bodies are very good friend of mine and says, I can. You know, he's come down save me a few weeks to get along the show. Well, I don't know mate, he's in his new job now. He's very busy. He's organizing meetings and doesn't have the expensive count that he had at other places. So he's staying in one of my spare bedrooms. There's still climbing the money. Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, he's the boss at this new place.
He might go in and be quite frugal. Who knows? No, but look at this good look. It was funny because when we started that show, we were the red and stepchild of Fox. So that Maddie show was started, it started a year before, but they had a big revamp. Sterling came over. He was obviously big name and that was, it was all about those two. And that was sort of, you know, making sure that those two got what they needed, what they wanted and that there wasn't any sort of rivalry around a mosque between them. Can you just on that hat, what did Sterling go from nine to Fox? Because they cut his pay in half at nine, but as part of the deal, they said, we'll let you go and work as well with Fox. And Fox wanted some sort of gravitas with a big star at the network as well as Maddie obviously. So yeah, they took a pay cover, part of the pay cut deal, a bit like Carl with the podcast. It hasn't worked out. It hasn't worked out.
It was so far anyway. But yeah, so that's essentially why. And he came over and he worked a couple of years there and I don't know how many years he was there, but he was there and I couldn't know. I would just, there's him or I'm, we had a producer. That was our staff. But over time, it's sort of, yeah, got a following, which was good. All right, it's preview time now. So now it's time for this. The NFL is back and there's two prime time blockbusters to kick off the season. The Seahawks host the Patriots in a Super Bowl rematch, then the Rams and 49ers crashing our backyard at the MCG. With Point's bet, place the same game multi on Eda match. And if there's a leg in your bet that's lacking heat, you can pull it before the start of the third quarter. Pull them for an NFL exclusive to Point's bet. Yeah, that's built different chances are you're about to lose for free and confidential support. Call the number on the screen or visit the website. All right, Kenny, we'll be down in Melbourne for this one. We might have to try and get to a bar.
I will find somewhere. We'll find somewhere. All right, so South play the night. South, $1.38 with Point's bet playing nights, $2.95 at Aliens. Played in round nine, the nights one. And then they played in round 19 and South one. What are we expecting from this game? Yeah, it's a funny one. Look, I'm not sort of enamored as much as a lot of people. And once everyone says I might anyone can win it. Which, yeah, probably can. To me, that does make for a good final system. I think it makes for good publicity and if you're NRLs good for them. I think teams actually, fans actually like it when there are dominant teams. And playing great footies. I don't think I'll be the least to be able to win the grand finals. South, there's a bit of a theory that they're going around that they are on a bit of a amount of run. Bennett's got the timing right and all the rest of it, I get that. The Knights have come off a buy, but they lost their two games before that. And South Sydney have not won three games in a row or a season.
So they need to win this game, then they need to win three more games to be premieres. I just don't think they can do it. Every time consistency has been a problem for them, how last weeks game affects them, I don't know, but they are close to full strength. And the poor old Knights have got their front rows been taken out of the game. They've lost obviously some star quality in Dylan Lucas for the year and Dylan Brown for the year. So you've got to go with, you've got to go with South, but I do think the Knights are a chance. The way they are playing as a team, and they play for minute one to minute 80. They'll come out and they'll start hard. There was nothing between the teams. There's nothing between the teams when they play this year. It's one all as far as South Sydney Castle when they played each other. Well, that one up in Newcastle when the Knights won. That was the game of the season, almost. Oh, it's a rip. That's the one way with the throw. The throw went nuts. Well, very bullocked over. Point out. But it was like 42-38. There was two halves, if you remember.
So it's very difficult to get a read on. But South Sydney can go to sleep. They play in spurts a lot. And that inconsistency from week to week is also in their game. That's infading and out of game. Well, they come in, they'll go in that school. Two or three tries, well, they had a great half. How many times a year have they had a great half and then a shock and half? Like they did it against Paramount, they did it in that game against Newcastle. They've done it many times this year. And that's a concern. That's what Bennett, I've been at a set in Post-Best Press Conferences. Why and what'd you think? It was all there today. That you saw the best in the worst of South in the same game. So that's going to be a problem because if they fade out of the games, this will again for 10 minutes, which they can do. Then that's when the Nys can get some points on them. And the Nys can defend, mate. They are a really good unit, really well coached. So the Nys, if they can cut the points down in the game, there are massive chances of getting the upset. Okay, actually just before we go on to the next game,
the guys from insider, which is another show on our network, are actually doing life watch-alongs where the public can come along. So if you're a fan of coming along to that, you can come down to Hyde Park House. I think they start about an hour or half an hour before the games, all games are in the finals. Can't you know I'll make it there someday and we'll tell you, you can come along. I think I got a twisty top, mate. Spring that on me now. Obviously the usual appearance, feel of course. Of course, of course. Yeah. Yeah. I can't pay you a beard anymore because you don't drink. No, that's true. I can't pay Hoopsing Bee because he doesn't drink. Well, mate, you want us to get into that wallet and your crackers are open. Although you're going to say, maybe you should start drinking. All right, let's talk about Saturday's game, which will be a cracker there over in New Zealand. The Warriors, $60, playing the Dolphins, $2.35. Obviously the Warriors are favorites because of at home, but I know you're a big Dolphins fan, can't you?
Look, Warriors are far as good as you're at home. They've had a magnificent season. They deserve it all. The one thing that I really, I don't think the Dolphins can win the comp, okay? But the caveat to that is, I think they can win this week because as well as the Warriors are going, they're rock solid through the middle, but the last couple of games they've had against the Nights and last week against Manly, their edges got really found out. And that's where the Dolphins are going to be on after them. And there's no team better in the comp than going down those channels than the Dolphins. So it's a really good match up for that point of view because where the Warriors know they're vulnerable is where the Dolphins are strong. And both teams know that. And so how they go out and I'm going to be really interested to see how the coaching goes and how the coaches approach that because that's where the battle's going to be won. But that said, if the Warriors get beaten and the Dolphins win
and they go into that, the two week break into the preliminary final, suddenly they're in the fight for the comp. I expected some weeks back to the Warriors with witness gain, whoever they play, the other thing they've been paying penra whether it's the Roosters or the Dolphins or sharks at the time that they would win this game. But I'm also sure now, Gill and just have the stalls match up. The winner of that obviously, yeah, also the loser of that plays south and night. So yeah, that'll be an interesting second game. The second game on Saturday is the sharks, $46 playing the Cowboys $2.71 again, been moved to Aliuns, which we spoke about a little bit earlier in the season. You'll agree with that. That move. I mean, they got a little bit right. Look, I get the players want to home ground at the Vanneys North Resta, but it's just a dog of a home ground. And it's great for the Crannola fans. But I think that the last three times they've played a home final, they've only had 12,000 to earn up to. It's not like it's a...
Yeah, I just look, I don't disagree with the NRL move. And I think it's a nice option for Crannola to say, okay, we need to have a serious look at our home ground. And they need to say the NRL, you need to help us. Well, the last time those two teams played, there was 80 points scored, Kenty, 46, 34. It was up in Townsville. Yeah. And how much has that got to repeat itself? It was a long time ago. Well, if you say to yourself, both coaches say, okay, we can't have this happening here. Why don't you score that many points? The better team doesn't always win. It becomes a lottery. And basically, it depends, you just, it's a shootout until the full-time sirens sounds and then whoever's in front. So both teams will be really going hard on their defenses. Well, Crannola got good defense when they put their mind to it. They're showing different times this year, how well they can do that. Nick Owens is going to have Trindle that, alongside him this week, which is going to be a great benefit. He really needs him. Crannola, let's look at Snow's coincidence of their season,
so the fall or par when Trindle dislocated his shoulder. I expect him to get through the game. You can play with that injury to get struck down. It'll be a little bit painful, but you'll take a pain killer for that, which won't further damage. It will shouldn't further damage the shoulder socket any more than what it is, or the AC joint. And so from that point of view, I think you'll play. The Cowboys, they don't excite me too much in the finals. I think this is their one undone game. Just made me get to the interesting thing about this game, cantees, both teams are out of form. Crannola of one one and five, I mean, they're rusted players last week, but the Cowboys got flogged last week by camera at 50 to 30. It's, well, how do you sell that? And that's the, well, what we're saying is an open game yet, it is, but it's anyone wins because they're both fine so poorly. Like, Crannola won it in the past five. And then, Cowboys just, well, camera went and put 50 on them last week. So yeah, I don't know.
Like I said, whoever gets their defense right, I think wins the game, and I think Crannola, they've got more upside there. Very good. Okay, the Panthers on Sunday's game, Panthers, $32, playing the roosters, $3.35. Panthers won the first game, 40 to 4 in round three, but roosters won 12, 6 in round 24. Yeah, expecting. Well, the last game, the last game, the roosters won was against the Panthers. That won a game since. No team has won the competition coming into the falls on the back of three straight losses. So there's a few things that the roosters have got to overcome. We do have an asterisk on that last game that they play because they ran out of their reserve grade side, basically for that. But I just, I think we see the real Panthers now. We know that the roosters historically have had a hard time beating them. I think it was like, before that last round, it was like 12 out of 13 back to 2020 or something similar. And I look, I've liked Panthers all year.
Yeah, I liked them before, so there's no 650 before season, if anyone's interested. That would have been a good bet. That would have been a real good bet. Did you get on? Of course. Of course. Actually tell it to the... Okay, no, don't tell that other bit. Okay. Good going, sorry. He was going to save it. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Anyway, I just think the Panthers, what they are doing better than I've ever seen them do is when they've got a point to prove or a statement game they're making the statement. They've lost a couple of games, but when they've had, when things have happened to them with a clavor, a player, or whatever, and there's a bit of a, you know what, let's show these guys. I think there's many of that this year, better than I've seen them do to be fair. They started so well, they had a little bit of a hiccup, and then a little bit of criticism came. They just took names, wrote down... Yeah, I'll be interested about this going, can't you,
the Panthers didn't rest their players on the weekend. Last weekend, the roosters did. Yes, I think that's, I think it's a deliberate ploy. I don't, I know there's a lot of conjecture and opinion about why they did it, and it was to win the minor premiership, and did risk playing those players to try and get them on a premiership. I don't think that's it, Warren. I think they wanted to go into this game with momentum. They wanted the players playing, and I think they've really banked their here to win the Compendorf. They're not here to do well. And I think they've come in, they've played last week, in anticipation of winning this week, and then getting a two week break into the preliminary final, which sets them up for the grand final. That's the, I think that was the strategy. And I think resting last week then puts them in a good place to win this week, but then if they won this week, and then they had another week off,
I think there's a feeling they are, I remember one, or a little while back, I can't remember what you, Montevary and Minister, this bit talked to that a little bit underdone, things were a little bit under, it could be a little bit underdone, and Montevary and Pendorf, I'm thinking of the pianos, but Tune felt a little bit underdone coming in the grand final, having played basically one game in a month. So I think, no one knows how to better prepare for a final series than Pendorf's right now. So you've got to trust that they know what they're doing. And I think that's the strategy that they wanted some footy under their belt, and they have put their easy-to-bears into win this game, and then get the two week break. Very good, Kentie. All right, tomorrow, don't forget, prime time, we're going through the rest of our season review, which will be very interesting. And also, tomorrow morning, chiming in, Steve Gillis talks about his year that was, including talking about the Redhall's controversy for when he finished up at Brisbane.
And he also talks about Sam Walker, and what was discussed there in the media. It's pretty juicy. That's on tomorrow morning. All right, guys, we'll see you down in Melbourne, if anybody's going down there. I think we're going to the water side hotel tonight for a couple of Coke Zeroes and Hinerkin Zeroes. I'll be the one that blew shit with the L.A. Stryte. I can't wear this here. I'll be, I'll get bashed. Anyway, all right, that's it for us. We'll see you tomorrow for prime time. Bye-bye.
