You're listening to KFI AM640.
The bill handles show on demand.
On the iHeartRadio F.
Handle on the news.
Just the news.
And now, handle on the news.
Ladies and gentlemen, here's Bill Handel.
And this is at KFI AM640.
Bill Handel here, good morning.
Oh, yeah.
All right.
There's Will Kohlschreiber already in his Dodgers hat
for opening day.
Good morning.
Good morning, Amy.
Why are you not wearing Dodger Garb this morning?
I wore it yesterday and went to the game yesterday
was opening day.
Ah, that's true.
Oh, so Will's the day behind.
Okay, sure enough.
And did you enjoy the game?
It was so great.
It was fun.
Will and I were just talking about it.
The energy of Dodger stayed him.
I don't know why it's different this year.
But I mean, last night felt like a playoff game.
It just was so much fun.
And of course, we won, which is so much fun.
Yeah.
And the opening ceremonies were great.
And they did some kind of fun creative stuff.
And they brought out the World Series trophies,
the back-to-back trophy.
I have a question.
I mean, they still have foot long hot dogs
that Dodger games, right?
They're not technically foot long hot dogs.
They have Dodger dogs.
And then they have this ginormous.
It's like an 18 inch hot dog.
Okay, let me ask you.
Does every Jew that goes to the game
look at these hot dogs with envy?
You know, I don't know.
I haven't really paid attention to that.
Oh, okay.
Just dripping with envy on those.
Look into that, will you?
Yeah.
Next time I go.
I was sitting at my desk and doing some work yesterday.
And then all of us suddenly here.
Oh, the jet.
Why are there fighter jets flying over LA?
And then it hit me.
Oh, opening day.
And that was two of them.
There's beautiful.
Always cool to see.
I always really enjoy the various airplanes.
I go over the Rose Parade, for example,
Formula One races all over the world.
Those airplanes fly.
And the things like the Dodger games, very moving.
I've already, I've always enjoyed these planes,
weapons of war loaded with munitions.
So you can actually see the 2,000 pound bomb on the wing.
It's America at its best.
And by the way, I mean that.
All right.
That's not stick for me.
Okay.
And good morning to you.
Good morning.
And Sam is back.
Good morning.
What is going on with Kono?
Do we know?
I have no idea.
I think you means hello, Sam.
Thanks for being here.
No, I don't.
I mean, what's going on with Kono?
I don't know.
You might have been at the Dodger game last night for all I know.
I know he's not a graduate fan.
I have said that we are going to stop doing Trump stories.
Okay.
So let me start the morning with two of them.
Okay.
And as I said, there are some crazy ones.
There's some ones that really do affect us.
And there's just some fun.
At this point, isn't it kind of like standing in a shower,
trying to dodge?
Yeah.
I know some of them are just really good.
Okay.
Two more.
Okay.
The administration has now changed the signatory on currency.
If you look at any of the currency, it is the secretary of the treasurer of the trea secretary
of, I think it's a commerce secretary as well as the treasurer of the United States.
Sign on those bills if you look at it.
It is now going to be the secretary of the secretary of commerce and president Trump signature.
It will now appear on currency.
It's never been done in history before.
And another one, that kind of, you know what, I was kind of thinking of real.
Yeah.
It's been reported.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
And then the other one, which kind of I found fascinating is that the Trump organization
has applied for copyright on the name Donald J. Trump, which means that if any city state
building municipal building, any street name is going to take on Donald Trump's name.
It has to get the permission from the copyrighted owner of that name.
But how can you, you can do copyright the name of a president.
You can copyright anything.
You can copyright the name of a president.
Now if you use the name as news, you can't do a damn thing about it.
It's like the super bowl, uh, pardon, it's like the super bowl, exactly, it's exactly like
the super bowl.
Well, yeah, so you can't say, you can't say president Trump's name without having, uh,
you know, interfere with the copyrighter and fringe.
What you have to say is the big guy, uh, who just passed the bill, okay, uh, enough of
that.
That's, those are just fun.
Uh, you have to admit.
Well, who's going to name a town or something?
I mean, who's going to use it?
Oh, pick, pick a town in Mississippi.
Oh, but yeah, just pick any town.
Isn't that ensuring that nobody will do those things?
Not going to name a school after you or are you kidding?
Are you kidding?
Scott Bessent said of the new signature or the new coin that's being issued by the, uh,
the US Mint of Donald Trump's face on the dollar coin, uh, said that the best way
to celebrate 250 years of greatness of the United States is to do so with, uh, a coin with
Donald Trump's face on it, uh, crazy, it's all just crazy.
Wow.
So for now on, uh, we will never long, never, uh, agree or we'll never, uh, utter the name
of president Trump.
It will always be the big guy.
Okay, the big, the big guy said, okay.
Uh, it's just, it's just fun stuff.
Fascinating.
You, I mean, you have to admit, I don't even care if you're a hugely, if you're a huge
Trump follower way, because you like the policy, whatever, you got to be entertained by
this stuff.
I mean, there is no way around it.
All right.
We're done.
And then I didn't, I don't know if I said hello to Neil or not.
I don't care.
Okay.
You ready?
Are you ready to do it?
Handle on the news on this Friday morning, foodie Friday, ask handle anything Friday,
uh, with Amy Neal and me lead story.
Well, uh, the Senate, uh, agreed this morning to fund the Department of Homeland Security,
which means TSA is going to be funded immediately.
The president signed the order or will sign saying that yep, so he switched gears.
Uh, also, uh, everybody switched gears and they've now come to, uh, some kind of an agreement.
And it's simply a way to pay TSA because, uh, frankly, both sides of the aisle and the
president, uh, were just in the administration getting nailed on those TSA lines.
I mean, that just reached across every level of politics.
Saying, man, we're done with you guys.
Five hour wait said airports, uh, completely crazy.
So hopefully this is going to improve.
Uh, remember that old song?
Give me just a little more time.
Yep.
Well, looks like that's what the president is doing.
He's extended the deadline for a peace deal with Iran by 10 days.
The deadline was supposed to be like today, but he said yesterday that at Tehran's request,
he was pausing the period of energy plant destruction until April 6th.
Then he said he's doing it because the talks are going really, really well.
Okay.
Not according to Tehran, but that's the size of point.
Uh, so it turns out that, you know, as I said, or I had mentioned, or we had mentioned,
or people had mentioned, when the president first said, uh, they really want to make a deal.
Uh, we're going to make a deal.
We're talking to them and they're excited.
Tehran said, no, absolutely not.
Who do you believe?
Oh no, you called this.
That was, and it was a, it was a little bit of both.
Tehran is, uh, put dipping its toe in negotiations, allowing Pakistan to begin talking.
The US is, uh, looking at Pakistan to begin talking.
And right now it's, this is like the Vietnam War.
You remember the Vietnam, uh, the Paris peace talks?
Yeah.
Well, uh, they spent, the United States and Vietnam spent 18 months on the shape of the table.
Do you think that before they spend 18 months on the shape of the table?
No, no, but I think, uh, it's going to be a while.
I don't think it's going to be two, four more weeks.
I think it's going to be a long while.
Do they maybe use just buying time to get the troops there?
You know, I don't know that because they're on their way.
Yeah, I don't know if he's buying times.
2000 troops are not going to do much.
There's more than that.
Well, there's, uh, two thousand and there's 2500 Marines.
I think 2000 US airborne, 80 second airborne, I think.
So we're talking maybe 4500, 5000 troops, uh, which is not going to do much against 100,000,
uh, revolutionary guard troops, not counting the regular army.
I don't think that's much.
I think what's happening is, uh, that everybody understands there's going to have to be
some kind of, uh, agreement.
Uh, we don't know what it is, some kind.
And the president is, uh, saying, uh, okay, we got one coming.
Here's the next, here's five days.
Though we got one coming coming.
Here's an extra 10 days.
Uh, I wouldn't be surprised if there was another delay predicated on.
We're getting closer and closer to an agreement.
By the way, not one, not one point has there been an agreement on.
Not one.
So I think it's going to take longer.
Do I think it's going to happen?
Yes.
Yes, just to be a while.
Okay, uh, let's take a break.
We'll be back.
We are behind AM 640 bill handle.
Good morning, uh, Friday, March 27.
No more handle on the news.
Amy, Neil and me, uh, another close call.
The FAA, uh, is investigating a Black Hawk helicopter, obviously a military helicopter
crossing right in front of the flight path of United Airlines flight.
Uh, the, uh, the United Airlines flight was coming in for a landing in Orange County at the
John Wayne airport there.
Very close call, uh, happened between that United Boeing 737, 168 passengers on board,
and the military Black Hawk.
Um, this happened on Tuesday.
But even though an anti-collision alert was triggered, I mean,
this one worked, but, uh, you know, Black Hawk helicopter and, uh, a civilian plane,
just like what happened in Washington.
Yeah.
Are you surprised that more of these more collisions don't happen because we're
showing up at this close, these close calls constantly now.
So they were separated by 500 feet of vertical and, uh, 1400 feet.
Which is nothing, which is considered nothing because they should be what,
half a mile apart if I'm not mistaken.
Oh, that yet 500 miles is nothing, you know, when you're in that size.
Okay.
Oh, the story that I talked about this morning, Amy.
Uh, sign of the time, actually a signature Donald Trump is signing your dollar bills,
your five, your ten, your twenties US Treasury Department has plans to put President Trump's
signature on all new US paper currency.
That would be a first for a sitting president since traditionally paper currency gets the
treasury secretary and the treasurer signature, not the president's.
Yeah.
They're removing the treasurer to now have Donald Trump's signature.
Wouldn't you be mad at me or the treasurer?
Uh, the one I would be.
Yeah, I don't even know if the treasurer is in a pointed position.
It's a ceremonial position.
I mean, it doesn't do much.
It oversees the man and bureau of engraving, etc.
You know, remember when I was joking about President Trump's picture on all the currency
and how he'll look like with a beard on the five dollar bill?
I don't know how much joking I was doing.
Yeah, I don't think you can anymore.
I don't, I, I genuinely don't think you could say anything.
They say in sci-fi that anything you could put on the screen or in a book will eventually become
technology we can obtain.
And I think anything you can be absurd about when it comes to President Trump is available as
a possibility.
Yeah.
I mean, seriously, signing that I surprisingly doesn't want to hand sign them so they're worth more.
And then you know what he's going to do.
He's going to charge the treasury because his name is copyrighted.
That's right.
That's the other one.
He can make a mint talk on that.
He was very well said.
Good, good line.
Line to sure, but he has applied for or the Trump organization has applied for a copyright
on his name, which means anybody using the name would have to get permission
of the copyright owner.
And that would be the Trump organization, just a spectacular.
Okay, moving on to stuff that is going to hit us.
Yeah, it keeps going up.
And I've been noticing this at our home.
You might have at yours and that is Netflix and more streamers are going higher and higher.
And now it's going to be knocking on the door of $27 a month.
So if you remember, the standard plan with ads will cost, I think it was eight bucks before.
Now it's $8.99 and the premium plan are raised by two bucks to $19.99 and $26.99 respectively.
Yeah, Netflix used to be, and I've always-
Seven bucks or something?
Yeah, to me, these platforms are no commercials.
When they started adding ads to these things, that went in the face of everything
these platforms were created, particularly Netflix.
And it was, I think when they started, it was $5.99, no commercials with the premium
doubts today. And now people are really in terms of the cost of this.
I'd bundle these things.
I have Netflix, HBO, I do peacock.
I mean, I do most of the big ones, Hulu, because that's how I watch the TV.
But it's like $300 a month now.
Yeah, I mean, it is crazy.
Yeah, that's my right.
I'm just adding up all my streaming services.
You know what the secret is?
You know what Lindsay does and it really makes sense is you look at the bundling deals.
And for example, Netflix will buy it for three months because it adds a few things.
And then Hulu will add things and Netflix drops them, the platform drops them.
So if you're really careful about that, you look carefully, you can actually save a good chunk
of money. You could take the man who's spending $300 a month on it.
Yeah, but he would be spelled it.
Yeah, but it would be $500 a month.
Okay, okay.
No, but the reality is you're right.
If you, if you watch one for one particular show, you just have to,
when that shows over, drop it and then bring it back for the next season or whatever.
It just takes time.
I like to have access to all of the shows at all of the time.
Yeah, I can't even imagine that's what it's going to cost you.
Although it may be that it's going to be like movies where you'll be able to buy
well, individual movies, like going into the movies.
Well, you can't, like you can do that on Amazon and who there's a lot of places where you
basically, yeah, you rent your buy. That's correct. But there I was, what was that? I was watching,
we're going to watch something the other day with my daughter. And we said, okay, it's covered
by Hulu, we'll pay for it. And it was $2.99 per episode.
Wow. Oh, I saw one of those and I'm like, I'm not paying that.
Yeah, I don't know how they, I don't know how anybody is going to play $70 for one season.

Friday morning, March 27,
Foodie Friday at 8 o'clock, 8.30, ask handle anything,
and actually good news because it looks like the TSA folks are going to be
getting their checks, which is a boy that's good news for us and for them.
All right, back we go. More handle on the news with Amy, Neil, and me.
Left in the dark. More than 100,000 people in South Orange County
and parts of San Diego County lost power last night.
San Diego Gas and Electric said more than 100,000 customers initially affected.
It was in Mission VA, Whole, Laguna Hills, Laguna Nagell.
All the power was restored by about nine o'clock,
and SDG and E said, we understand how disruptive outages can be
and are working to investigate the cause.
So they don't know why, but that was a lot of people.
Thank you very much.
The other thing that's so much fun about SD and G,
and I happen to be living in the San Diego Gas and Electric district,
is it is the most expensive utility district in the country.
It is a joy.
Good. It's like Netflix.
I hope it hurts you.
It does.
Oh, here's what's weird.
I have a full solar system,
and I have a battery system at home,
and I'm still paying for power.
Well, your power didn't go out last night.
No, it did not.
I was not in one of those areas.
Okay.
So if you've ever seen the clear stations there at the airport,
there's a company, Clear Secure.
It's a biometric company.
It allows travelers to bypass the TSA.
I've used it before when I was flying more often,
and I loved it.
So the pain that people have been feeling in line has translated into a bump
in people signing up for Clear and paying for the services by 625%.
So people are spending the money.
I can't remember what it was.
Spending the money and utilizing this to bypass those TSA lines,
and probably not a bad idea.
Especially.
I'm looking at my app, but the Clear app.
I have the app, but I don't think I've done much with it.
I've got to because that really makes a lot of sense.
I have not seen any clear lines or clear stations at the airport.
No, no, I haven't.
You can sign up right there as a matter of fact.
They take your biometrics, your photo, your fingerprints,
and it was not expensive considering.
It makes it much easier to roll through the lines if you're traveling a lot.
Okay, fair enough.
All good things must come to an end in 2029,
which is the same year the Oscars Telecast moves from ABC to YouTube.
The ceremony itself is going to move from the Dolby Theater in Hollywood to downtown LA
and the Peacock Theater.
Of course, the Dolby was developed by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences
itself, expressly as a home for the Oscars.
The ceremony's been there since 2002.
Well, we don't know that we're going to have the Oscars in 2029.
You know, they do, you know, now these theaters, as you know, are developed specifically for the
acts. It's, uh, do you remember Zick Frieden Roy?
Uh-huh.
And Roy ended up getting eaten by the tiger.
And he ended up dying.
And they built that theater specifically for that act.
Well, pardon?
He lived for a very long time.
And then, uh-
Not after he got bit by the tiger?
No, no, not after he got bit.
And it turned out he was mauled, not just bit.
I mean, the guy, you know, mauled, like it was this throw was slid.
It was terrible.
But they had that theater built specifically for Zick Frieden Roy.
And as soon as they left, uh, they had to fill up, uh, you know, figure out another act.
And, you know, what do you do with cages?
Because, uh, you know, they had cages all over.
I think they put the acts in cages or, or, or something.
Okay, maybe not cages.
But when they built theaters for, uh, all the old theaters for, excuse me, all the, um,
uh, oh god.
Have I already lost that?
Uh, never mind.
What?
In Las Vegas?
Yeah, Las Vegas.
Uh, what are all the shows?
Uh, the names 50% of the shows are, uh, uh, uh,
Oh, the Cirque du Soleil.
Cirque du Soleil.
Cirque du Soleil.
Cirque du Soleil.
Yeah.
But all those theaters are built specifically for those, uh, the acts.
So, you know, some tiger magicians and some,
so let me ask you, if it turns out, hold on, if it turns out that,
oh, which is this huge water act, as you know, it's incredible.
Uh, oh, you know, it's in water.
They leave and they bring in Celine Dion,
does she sing from a kayak on the water?
I don't know.
You're going to have to ask, uh, made a, uh,
no, that was a, that was a Celine Dion joke and, and got that.
It's, uh, okay, let's move on.
Very obscure.
No, that was several levels of stupidity.

Handle here on a Foodie Friday.
Ask Handle anything Friday.
Also the day that our new currency now has a president Trump's name on it.
So it's a big, big day.
Okay, more handle on the news.
Amy, Neil and me.
Okay, so transgender women that are athletes are going to be excluded from the Olympics
beginning with the 2028 Los Angeles games.
This all comes down because the International Olympic Committee implemented
this new eligibility policy and they did this yesterday.
So what does that mean?
It means if you're going to be a part of women's competition,
you're going to have a one time mandatory genetics test.
None of this they look like or this looks like or whatever.
So the IOC says the test requires screening through saliva,
a cheek swab or a blood sample.
This is a problem or looking for a problem or however they call that phrase,
a something for a problem.
It's no big deal.
I mean, the numbers are minuscule.
Oh, you keep saying that.
But it's obviously it's become a political issue.
For example, this story says that the last time it happened 2021,
there was a weightlifter from New Zealand transgender and didn't win a mental.
I mean, it's literally we're talking about a handful of people.
It's more it's absolutely a political statement.
Nothing more.
So do you wait?
Do you wait till more and more changes?
More people?
It's not until you become maybe you wait until it becomes real.
That it becomes a real problem.
It doesn't get the attention that it does.
Yeah, you wait.
Wait till this becomes a problem.
There's a great white shark buzzing around in the waters off of Orange County
and eight foot long, great white shark was spotted circling a surfer in West Newport Beach.
Life.
Well, it's just a baby shark.
He's only eight.
It's not going to eat anybody.
Stay out of the water.
Stay off hiking trails.
So why are they doing this?
Why don't they wait until there's a problem?
Because you're right.
Because it's good news.
Okay, they should wait until there's a problem.
Wait until a great white fight of sharks start
eating people.
That's when you deal with it.
Okay.
Well, anyway, the beaches are closed until further notice.
Yeah.
Oh, this just in trans.
Great white sharks are not allowed to bite anybody
on the beaches.
SpaceX.
Look at this.
Jump on this.
So there was a company or is a company called Saudi
our.
Aramco.
Aramco.
Aramco.
So seven years ago, they set a record
that was 29.4 billion with an IPO.
And now SpaceX, if they proceed with their
anticipated stock market launch,
the company intends to raise a maximum of 75 billion,
which would dwarf that 29.4 billion record that was already set.
But more than that, what it does is set a valuation of the company
when you sell stock to your level.
I want your tank.
Yeah, the valuation is $1.75 trillion.
That makes a valuation of SpaceX.
I, you know, I mean, is it possible?
Yeah, I don't get it.
Sky's the limit.
Yeah, that literally is the sky is the limit, definitely.
Ice is getting inmates.
Local immigrant rights organizers and supervisor,
Vicente Sarmiento have expressed anger and frustration over
Sheriff Don Barnes, continued cooperation with federal agents.
Last year, the Sheriff's Department in Orange County,
which operates jails, screened 824 inmates with immigration holes,
referred 323 of them to ice of those 271 were transferred to ice custody
after they completed their jail time in 2024.
And immigration advocates are calling on supervisors
and Sheriff Barnes to end all ice transfers.
Why?
But why I'm going to ask you, for those people that are against transferring
immigration to immigration, people that are led out of prison,
what if first they're felons?
Because it's still a cold, that's the whole point.
Yeah, I do, I mean, I think even those who say the sanctuary,
sanctuary jails that you're not going to turn over to ice,
not going to call the customers enforcement folks,
how about felonies, felons, should they be turned over?
Yes.
Doesn't matter, doesn't matter, sanctuary city.
Sanctuary jails.
Stupid.
All right, we're done, guys.
That's it.
Coming up, well, it looks like the lines at the airport may actually drop.
