From San Francisco, California, this is the Rock n' Roll Geek Show.
0:14
This is the story of my Rock n' Roll Butler.
0:21
Welcome to the Rock n' Roll Geek Show.
0:23
My name is Michael Butler.
0:24
Thanks a lot for joining me.
0:25
I really appreciate it.
0:26
Today's Wednesday, March 25th, 2026, and I am coming from a place called the Tip Top
0:36
Deluxe in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
0:39
This is day one of the Hanson Dick Manitoba Strane's tour.
0:46
We arrived in Detroit last, yesterday last, last, no, on Monday night, Craig and I flew
0:54
in from San Francisco, and we stayed at a hotel near the airport, and we practiced at
1:02
the Strane's rehearsal studios in Detroit.
1:07
I pulled out my bass, and fuck, the headstock was broken.
1:11
Thank you, United Airlines.
1:14
I pulled it out of the case, and sure enough, broken headstock.
1:19
So fortunately, Paul from the Strane's, great guy, he was letting me practice at his
1:25
house, he got a basement full of vintage quality gear.
1:31
He had a p-base, he let me borrow, and he glued my headstock back together, and brought
1:40
it to the hotel today, so I practiced last night with the p-base, and if I like the
1:47
Hagstrom, it just seems more natural for me in any way.
1:51
So I strung it up today at the hotel, and Grand Rapids, so far, so good.
1:59
We're getting ready to do a sound check, we're loading in now, I snuck off to do this
2:05
By the way, thank you for listening.
2:06
I'm going to be doing these every day, like I'm going to try every day for this tour.
2:11
We're doing five shows.
2:14
Today, tomorrow, I'm not sure where tomorrow is, maybe Milwaukee, I think.
2:19
Hopefully see you at Paul Lack, and some other people.
2:23
If you want to come, friends, send me an email, rockandrollgeekageemail.com, and with
2:28
the subject line, put me on the guest list, asshole, or whatever.
2:33
Just let me know, or send me a message on Facebook or something, and I'll do my best
2:37
to get you in for free, friends, and I would love to have a beer with you.
2:41
So we're getting ready to sound check, I have no idea what the precells are.
2:45
We rehearsed with Richard, yes, with Manitoba yesterday, he seems to be in a lot better
2:50
He's been eating, and hopefully this tour will be okay.
2:56
See why you can, because as you know, Ross the Boss has Lou Gehrig's Zees, and I'm
3:03
sure you heard the wonderful, wonderful, shit-fucking news about ginger, wild heart.
3:11
Manitoba is just fucking devastating, man, everybody, well, if you don't know, he was
3:18
diagnosed with an rare and aggressive form of lymphoma cancer, or something like that.
3:24
Let's all pray for ginger, and I just found out my brother has stage three pain-creatic
3:30
cancer, which is supposedly the deadliest form of cancer there is, so let's say a prayer
3:37
for everybody with cancer, friends.
3:42
They can put a man on the moon, et cetera, et cetera.
3:47
So here we are, Grand Rapids and Michigan, looking forward to tonight's show, hopefully it's
3:52
The strains are great guys, and women, Greta is one of the guitar players, she's a cool
3:57
girl too, and her son, her son Callum plays bass, and he's letting me use his gear.
4:02
I plugged the camper into it, and hopefully everything's going to be great, hopefully it's
4:07
going to be a good crowd tonight.
4:08
It's a small place, we'll dive bar, which I love dive bars.
4:13
Got myself a red cooler, there's a Walmart down the street from the hotel in Detroit, and
4:20
I had it delivered, so I got a red cooler for the tour, so everything's going to be fucking
4:26
great, and I got a 12 pack of medellos ready to go.
4:30
Let's rock, and hopefully my bass is going to stick together.
4:34
Thank you for listening.
4:36
I'll check back in tomorrow, I'll try to get the same post it after the sound check.
4:41
Thanks again to the strains for booking this tour and letting us use their gear and van.
4:47
And we got John, the judge, who's a manager, who's a Richard's manager with us, Mark
4:51
Capitan, his brother on guitar, of course Craig, Bear Horse, who I couldn't play without,
4:57
and Scottie Slam on drums, and greatest merch girl in the world, Brigitte.
5:04
Come see her by a T-shirt.
5:06
If you come, if I put you on the list, do us a favor and buy a shirt, pay Brigitte
5:12
a visit, she'll treat you right.
5:14
All right, friends, I'll talk to you tomorrow.
5:17
In honor of Ginger, I'm going to probably play Wild Hearts and Ginger Tunes for this entire
5:23
I'm going to play something from Valor, Decorator's On.
5:26
The man who cheated, well, did I bring that song in yet?
5:32
The man who cheated death.
5:33
I got to pause this and bring it in.
5:34
I'll talk to you later, friends.
5:36
I'm feeling every feeling I have today, I wouldn't have it any other way.
5:48
This is my man just a state of mind, it's something else, and I'm leaving you behind.
6:01
I'll be in shock, and I'll be in shock, and I'll run down the corner in the road.
6:11
But that works meaning well, because I've never seen the world I miss.
6:19
I know I've never seen the world I miss.
6:27
Oh, when the devil is trying to tell me, when there was not a single inch on the road,
6:38
when the demons they sent me, were a cavity upon me down.
6:48
What an egg or no egg, there's no one to kill me now.
7:07
I'll see much more than I ever could eat to see,
7:14
but it falls and comes easily.
7:19
Stance to reason, I'm in a lost again, but not for me.
7:28
I take my lessons seriously, I mean I can't make a mistake,
7:37
for everything is going to hurt me, and it makes me leave my phone.
7:45
Now, how you get yourself up on the ground,
7:51
how you get yourself up on the ground.
7:59
Oh, when the devil is trying to tell me, when there was not a single inch on the road,
8:09
when the demons they sent me, were a cavity upon me down.
8:20
What an egg or no egg, there's no one to kill me now.
8:50
Oh, when the devil is trying to tell me, when there was not a single inch on the road,
9:17
when the demons they sent me, were a cavity upon me down.
9:27
What an egg or no egg, there's no one to kill me now.
9:38
When I break up, will you leave me from the hell,
9:44
which you lay me down.
9:48
Why did I ever know, there's never going to kill me now.
9:54
It's a rock-a-roll geek train wreck.
