What I want to tell you on Nuggets Nation is that even if it might feel a little grey
right now, there's a lot to look forward to on the other side.

We're going to talk about some of the things that have transpired lately, really since the
all-star break, because what's happened is these little plays have completely shifted not
just the national discussion about the Denver Nuggets, but the nuggets record, and I think
how a lot of people within Nuggets Nation are feeling about this team.
I want to be very critical over some of those things, because those little things will
win and lose you basketball game.
They win and lose you NBA series as well, as we can testify to last year.
But if you can just fix those little things, make better decisions.
It can change the future for this team, and just what the outcome of the season might
be.

I want to go through a little bit of some of the things that I've noticed that have
doomed this team lately, and some of the things that happened in the Nuggets game that
change this game with the Lakers, because what's happening right now, you all, is now there's
been, and I'm not saying an overreaction because you're panicking, but I think a little
bit of an overreaction, because if you look at the reason why the Nuggets lost this game,
very simple place, very simple place, change the outcome of this game versus Lakers.
Now the Nuggets end up losing 127 to 125 and over time, there's several things we can
get through in here.
Luca makes a great shot in fourth quarter in the, in over time that puts the game away.
They get a great switch with Spencer Jones who has a great contest, but again, little things.
The Nuggets had an opportunity to foul.
They had a foul to give.
They didn't use it.
He makes the shot.
They lose the game.
The Denver Nuggets, they had an opportunity where Spencer Jones is on the other side, didn't
get a chance to box out Austin Reeves.
They lose because the ball instead of going right like JJ Redding Plan, the ball goes left
off of the rim, Reeves gets a wide open floater.
They have another play where Spencer Jones, Reeves goes on to his motion in a triple threat.
Jones actually, based on the last two minute report, he actually strips Reeves cleanly.
And it should have been a review and look at who the ball went off of and it might have
been Denver Nuggets ball, Nuggets get ball back nine seconds left with nine seconds left
in the situation.
And then on top of that, they get the ball back, you go back to the free to line.
Or when Jamal Murray, hey, you know, Yoke gets a stop on Austin Reeves, he gets a swipe
down on the ball.
The Nuggets get the ball.
This is at the end of the game.
Murray dribbles the ball off the floor, not as confident as he normally is, so he gives
the ball to A.G.
A.G.
goes to the free to line.
This is the first one.
Makes the next one.
You make all your free throws.
You win that game easily in regulation.
Okay, Jamal Murray, who is a terrific player having an all in B.A. season.
I think this game is on Jamal.
What stuff happens?
I believe he'll bounce back.
One time they see the record.
If they see him in the playoffs, he'll be even better ready to rock.
But in this situation, Jamal goes one at 15, but Jamal, I posted on Twitter.
He had a great look off of a pick and roll where both players go underneath the pick and
roll on the left wing, misses a wide open three that he's ace this year.
Then he has another one transition, two minutes and 20 seconds basically left in the game
you all.
Jamal Murray, terrific score, terrific shooter, gets an opportunity to put the game away
basically because at this point, the nuggets are in a spot where they have a chance to extend
the lead even more.
The nuggets broke 109 to 106.
The nuggets didn't get an opportunity to get a wide open look from Jamal Murray with two
minutes and 17 seconds left.
This is the one I was talking about where Marcus Mark goes underneath the three point line
and he misses it.
109, 106.
And then on this same play, this is what I'm talking about.
This is what I'm talking about with little things.
On this same play, Jamal misses the shot, but Christian Brown, who your whole responsibility
on this team is defense, is connected offensive plays and scrappy hustle plays and knocking
down shots and making lay ups and dunks in transition.
It's really like his overall role is kind of really boiled down in those simple things.
Christian Brown has a chance to recover the basketball.
He's in his second tussle with LeBron.
This is the second time in this game that him and LeBron are going after a live ball.
Christian tries to get the ball, tries to dribble the ball, the ball goes behind him.
Christian instead of diving on the basketball and tying it up with LeBron just gives it
up.
Again, I want to remind you all, Christian is also having the good stretch of basketball.
This is not about Christian indictment as a player.
It's just little things and this is why you lose games like this.
If Christian simply, just when he gets the ball, if he doesn't, he recovers the ball,
then it's recovered.
But Christian, if you dive on the ball with LeBron, because LeBron falls to the ground.
He falls to the ground and then picks the ball up and then hands it off to LeBron.
If you simply tie him up on that shot, I want you to realize that that very next play
with a minute 57 seconds left, Jamal Murray then fouls LeBron, on a three point shot.
So this is what I'm telling you all, I want to break this down again.
Jamal Murray, 109, 106, two minutes and seven seconds left.
This is a wide open three that he usually hits, five that did on the ensuing rebound.
Christian Brown tells us what the ball for just a little bit with LeBron, doesn't dive
on the ground and recover the ball, doesn't dive on the ground to try to get the ball from
LeBron or tie it up for a jump ball, and then he just lets LeBron get the ball and reset
the offense.
Now the very next possession on the other side of the court, something yes you did it
need to do, Jamal Murray, he's beat up on Luca in ISO, Luca just simply does his patented
sidestep, three, Jamal and again this is a very soft foul and Matt talked about this online.
This was a very soft call, extremely.
When you look at the replay on this play, Jamal I'm talking about Grace Luca's hand,
like grazed it, just grazed his hand and the referees they call a foul.
Jamal, if you simply don't do that, he missed the shot, like literally I'm trying to explain
to y'all, the touch that Jamal Murray gets on his hand doesn't affect the shot at all.
He misses the shot, you get the rebound, you reset.
Just simple stuff that you didn't need to do in this game, very simple stuff.
That you didn't need to do, you didn't need to foul there.
Okay, so again, that's two one oh, that's, that's, that is one oh, one oh nine to one oh six.
Luca then goes to the free throw line.
So then now, market smart, he gets a steal on a play where Jamal Murray is trying to
inbound the ball, one oh nine to one oh nine.
He's trying to, he's trying to throw the ball in to Nikola Yokech, he makes an extremely
lazy pass that gets tipped up in the air by market smart, that ends up being a steal for Austin
Reeves. Again, another small play that you didn't need to make that turns the ball over.
All right, and then the very next play, Jamal Murray gets a steal.
Now, then Aaron Gordon gets a three pointer that ends up being a great play.
So Jamal Murray steals the ball back.
Aaron Gordon's in the left corner, he gets a wide open three.
And he hits it, fuck it.
Now it's like, all right, Denver, you got momentum again.
So you hear what I'm saying?
Like these are very small plays.
So then Reeves gets a drive drive layup and then Cam Johnson, brother, who was good in this game.
He was good in this game.
So again, not Cam Johnson, Chris, he played good defense and he played good offense in this game.
Aaron Gordon passes the ball to Jamal in the baseline.
Jamal finds Cam Johnson.
Who is wide open for another three and scores 112 to 111.
Cam Johnson with 59 seconds left on the shot on the clock.
He gets the ball on a but naked open three.
Again, shooting 40% from three this year.
You missed the shot that changes the next several possessions of the game.
So what I'm saying is y'all, like I want y'all to like, they lost.
But what I'm trying to communicate to you is that the Lakers played very well.
They were spotted.
But they literally could have won this game five or six different times.
If they simply just take care of the basketball, simply take care of the ball.
Don't make bad files.
Don't turn the ball over like multiple opportunities to win this game.
And they lost and I know it's frustrating you all.
But on the other side, I want to talk about why this has been an issue this year.
But really, this has affected them so many different times, little things,
costing them wins.
We'll talk about all that on the other side here and locked on nuggets.

So I want to talk a little bit more about this because the thing is nuggets,
I know you can feel this with me, the Denver Nuggets, the Denver Nuggets.
If you look at their schedule and you look at the losses, now I know the net rating stuff,
the clutch stuff is like, man, this is a way, way different year than the previous years.
It feels different. It feels worse. I want y'all to realize this.
They have played versus all the best teams in the league and they're coming down to the wire.
It's not like they're getting blown out. It's really not.
Now, the thing they have to fix, Shaw is the top of that second quarter,
the top of the second quarter and lost them the Los Angeles Lakers game.
It almost lost in the San Antonio game.
It didn't cost them in the Houston game.
It lost them the OKC game when it lost 129, 126.
And then they had to lead 29 to 27 versus New York.
And then the top of that second quarter, they lost the lead again.
And then when they beat Los Angeles originally, 121, 13, they also lost it there.
Like that has been an issue.
They lost it in versus Minnesota and they lost it versus OKC when they lost in overtime as well.
The thing in the difference is is that when you look at the OKC game, when you look at when they play that game,
it's the little things. It's just a little thing.
It's the little stuff they have to take care of because again, when OKC, when they play OKC,
Jamal Murray right in the corner with what seven seconds left, finds Cam Johnson wide open for three.
Brick, finds Cam Johnson again, this game versus the Lakers wide open for three.
Brick, it's little thing that are doing this team.
So I guess what I really try to say to you all that it's not, it's not that the gap is crazy.
The best, the nuggets and the best version of themselves can beat OKC, beat Detroit, beat the spurs, beat the Lakers.
The problem is is that they're losing these small margins and they're winning the Yokehitch minutes with SGA on the floor.
They're winning the Yokehitch minutes with Luca in the broad and Reeves on the floor.
The issue is that they're not finding ways to constantly and consistently win the small things.
Now, I will give David out of the critic and I've been critical of David in many different spots as of late.
What David has done is that he's really gone away in second half from playing Jonas Balanchunis and Jonas Balanchunis is having a really tough go.
Now, some of his raw numbers, you know, they're not, they're not terrible.
They're not bad, but what's happening is man, they're just like they're not super confident.
They're not super confident and they're not playing well defensively and they're not playing well enough offensively to counteract what they're giving up on the other end.
So, Jonas Balanchunis at the top of those second quarters, they have been getting obliterated, man.
But in the second half, like David Adam, he just made this switch and said, cool, like if this is not working, hey, we're going to go Spencer Jones at the five like they did versus the spurs.
We're going to go Spencer Jones, we're going to go Aaron Gordon, we're going to go Tim Hardaway, Jr.
We're going to put Cam Johnson on the floor and we're going to try to throw a lot of wings and a lot of switchability at these teams and see if that can be the things to mitigate the problem.
Y'all, they started versus the Lakers at the top of the fourth quarter.
It was Jamal Murray, Bruce Brown, Tim Hardaway, Jr. Spencer Jones and Aaron Gordon, that lineup can do it.
That's probably going to be what their playoff lineup looks like.
If not, if it's not Cam Johnson, who might be in there for like Bruce Brown or Hardaway, that's probably what they're going to play.
Because what we're learning is that when they don't have yokets in the game, they really just need to focus on versatility because it's not going to be super impressive.
And again, I want to also say this, Jamal didn't play well in this game. He had five points.
Now, if you're going to tell me that Jamal is going to have five points in the game and go one of 15, you know what, you're probably going to lose because he's too important of a player to play that bad.
I just don't think Jamal is going to do that very often or do that again.
Now, he's not had like a terrific stretch as of late, but like him and him and yoketure, you know, they're the best two man duo in the NBA for a reason.
And when you add Aaron and Gordon there, y'all, they've been terrific like the nuggets now have had 252 minutes, you all with yokets, Gordon and Murray on the floor.
There are plus 25 and a half net ready plus 25 and a half plus 25 and a half and they're also in this setting.
There have a 107.6 defense rating.
So the defense gets eight points better, the offense gets 17 points better, like they're just elite.
And that was also made true in this Laker game because Aaron Gordon, he just provides so many different things for this team because he is so unbelievably versatile.
He has so many things that he can get into and his jump shot is so lethal at this point. Like he had Luca in a 101 ISO brother where he was just able to put like
Luca in a little bit of a tizzy. It's just like Bing, Bing, Bing, Bing, Bing, Bing, pull up three.
He's a really good player. He's a really good player. And he does a lot of really good things for this team. And defensively, y'all, he had a block in this game on the
Braun where it was just like bro, like that second side, secondary rotation that they get from a G. It's just they don't get a lot of that outside of like
Spencer Jones had that a little bit versus disperse, Peyton Watt can do that sometimes. He did it versus the Boston Celtics in both games.
So it's like they have guys to do it. It's just they have to be in position as the low man to be able to cover for some of that stuff.
But again, y'all, I just want to continue to reiterate this. The reason why I'm not as I'm I'm definitely upset about how they lost because they shouldn't have lost that game.
But the thing I want to say to be encouraging for Nugget's fan that are just looking for a little bit of hope right now is that they're actually like figuring it out.
They're actually figuring out. And I think that this team they're trying to find ways to play without Yoke in the second unit to reintegrate Aaron Gordon.
And to find ways to be able to utilize like Jamal and Tim Hardaway and Cam Johnson and Spencer Jones. They're trying new lineups all the time. Like it's just a lot. It's just a lot, y'all.
On the other side, I want to talk about Jamal Murray in particular because you know, I've been very high on Jamal this year. He deserved really is probably going to make I think second team. If not at the very worst 13 this year all NBA.
But that game was rough. And you know, I don't know what exactly would into it, but I do think that he is going to be better on the other side of this and didn't really be better because we'll talk about it more here.

I just went over some of the small plays that have cost them games just add to recently even Jamal Murray at the free throw line obviously burst Detroit twice missing free throws and then obviously that costing them some wins.
You know versus the Cleveland Cavaliers they had the game in hand and didn't win the last time they saw them versus the clippers they had the game in hand didn't win the game.
And what I'm finding is that you know this team they're just not as sharp sometimes as they need to be and that is cost them a lot.
They lost to Detroit and one twenty four one twenty one they should have won that game they lost to New York one thirty four one twenty seven they lost Peyton Watson and Spencer Jones in that game.
They could have won the game especially if you had a more normal game that's right kind of you know when you were still coming off the injury.
They didn't like I said lost to Cleveland one nineteen one seventeen they lost to LA Lake the lick the clippers one fifteen to one fourteen.
They then lost a golden state without anybody on golden state that game was just bad.
They didn't also lost like I said to Minnesota again they lost out of the top of that second quarter just bad minutes.
And then again they lost to Oklahoma City by three and they lost to Los Angeles Lakers by two.
So they have Philadelphia Memphis Toronto Portland Phoenix Dallas Utah golden state Utah.
That's their next nine games.
The Denver Nuggets should absolutely be of the mindset.
We might not go nine and no but we're going to do the best we can to go nine and no because those are all games they will be favorite.
Those are all games they'll be able to win they play Philadelphia with no one beat no Maxi no Paul George on Tuesday needs to be a win.
I don't know why that's on NBC by the way.
Joe and beat hadn't played in Denver since 2018 nineteen.
I don't know why that's on NBC but they did it.
They play at Memphis they need to win that game.
They played in Toronto and Portland at home.
They need to win those games.
They played in at Phoenix who they've already beaten.
They need to win that game.
They didn't play versus Dallas get revenge on Dallas.
You need to win that game.
They didn't play versus Utah.
They played versus golden state.
They played versus Utah again.
You need to do your best to win all of those games.
If you do or even if you go eight and one.
That will put you in the contention to be right back at the third seed able to finish the season for San Antonio, Portland, Memphis,
O.K.C. and San Antonio who have nothing to play for by that point because they're already reluctant to see more than likely.
Those are all winable games.
Those are all winable games.
Now what I want to see is that when you play versus Philly.
Aaron Gordon talked about in the press conference that they play defense in the second half.
But you've got to play defense in the first half.
Christian Brown said that I have to be better defensively because I got to make sure we're in order and we're straight defensively.
The starters are playing well defensively.
I think what they really need to do is that when Philly comes into Denver.
You need to set the tone early.
You need to put it away within three quarters.
That should be a game where it's like we're pissed off about how we lost.
Let's go into that game.
Let's put it away because Philly they're going to have nobody on the floor.
They're going to come out trying to shoot threes and bomb them from deep because you know when you're at a talent disadvantage.
You got to play the math game.
So don't allow for them to get those looks.
Put it away.
When you play versus Memphis.
Go play hard and put it away.
When you play versus Toronto who's trying to get a top five top four seed.
That's going to be a grind.
But you can go beat them.
Go play hard.
Go take care of the small thing.
Brennan English playing well.
Scotty Barnes is playing well.
Yaka Pertil's playing well.
Emmanuel quickly playing well.
RJ Bears there.
You've got to be ready to rock.
Versus Portland who's again in the plan.
That will be a difficult game because Portland's a good team, especially since you came back.
But you've got to win that game versus Phoenix.
You've got to win that game.
You're better than all of these teams.
I think the Denver Nuggets you need to set the tone for yourself.
You need to set the tone for yourself that we can go into these games and we can be good defensively and Peyton Watson.
He's not going to be back Tuesday.
He's not going to be back Wednesday.
There is a world where Peyton Watson is back on Friday, March 20th versus Toronto.
Where Sunday, March 22nd versus Portland.
Now, day of the Lente, Lord willing, you get Peyton back.
Everybody Lord willing can stay healthy.
And if you stay healthy, that means you got the last 15 so 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 games.
Last 12 or so games of the regular season.
You can get everybody healthy and get your line of straight that you need to work for the playoffs.
Because one thing that I haven't even noted, like in this line, I'm talking about top of the second quarter.
Brother, I'm David Adamin.
I'm starting from all Murray.
I'm starting Peyton.
I'm starting like Peyton Watson.
I'm starting to him hard away.
I'm starting to Spencer Jones.
I'm starting to Gordon.
And my second unit, top of that second quarter, we about to put a bunch of wings on the floor.
And we got four players that can go get it.
Murray, Watson, hard away, and Gordon.
Everybody in that line up can switch and defend for the most part.
That line up needs to be something that's like, look, we're going to spread you out.
And we're going to attack you from multiple angles.
They need to be able to put their versatility to work.
Because what's happening is, it's not even versus like,
now, versus OKC versus disperse, they're going to stagger like Victor women, yum and SGA.
Yo, and if you're going to do that, then we need to have something on the other side of that.
That says, hey, we might not be able to stop you, but we're going to do our best.
We're going to put our wings on the floor.
We're going to make you shoot over the top, but offensively on the other end.
Hey, if you miss, we're running.
We're running and we got a bunch of players on the core that can get to it.
They can get to the three point line.
They can get you on the drive.
They can finish up the rim.
They need to be focused on playing as aggressive as possible.
And so when Peyton comes back, you can really go about reestablishing your identity
and doing the thing that you need to do.
Because they're going to have to be able to figure out that second unit.
They did it in the fourth quarter.
They have in the fourth quarter.
Spencer Jones has been really big in that.
But remember, their rotation is going to be Jamal and Mary Christian Brown,
Cam Johnson, Aaron Gordon, Nikolay Yoke, is going to be Bruce Brown,
Tim Hardaway, Jr., Peyton Watson, Spencer Jones.
And then like I said, at that point, we're saying, hey, Jonas Valentin is maybe,
maybe, but probably not versus these high-levels teams.
Julian Strathler is going to be involved in those conversations.
And then like I said, if you need to break in case of emergency, Zignaji,
the negative will have 12 players, depending on the matchup, that they can throw into the game.
David Adamin, what he needs to do is get to a point of comfortability of saying,
hey, this is my non-Yokeish lineup at the top of each quarter.
We're going to play differently.
We're going to focus on different things.
And we're going to attack you and see we can try to mitigate the minutes
that your best player is going to have.
