The consequences of having your face stolen can extend far beyond just the initial exposure. Think about the large collections of facial images that's floating out during the Internet.
You know they're prime targets for LLM training that simply could be used to improve facial recognition, tracking, and surveillance systems. According to Fowler, the images could also make impersonation and scams more convincing while photographs of children carrying additional risks are being manipulated into AI-generated child sexual abuse material. You know the ALPR system?
The tenant Rubin Carter was terminated a few weeks ago following the internal audit, revealing over 2,700 instances of unauthorized flock system use over a period of approximately a year, according to the Sheriff's Office. The search has involved 14 individuals, including Carter himself, deputies, friends, and former associates. And again, speaking of flock, according to reclaim the net, meanwhile reports of misuse of flock safety technology, continuing to emerge. For example, on August 21st, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced the arrest of four former Savannah Police Department employees. Why? Because they are accused of using the system for non-law enforcement purposes. The Savannah Police said that they had five six employees, four officers and two civilians, after an internal investigation.
The Post reported that the end-and-end office police officer appeared to search vehicles used by his wife in two close acquaintances, three thousand, seven hundred and fifty nine times in ten months. The Washington Post reports said that at least 69 police officials had been accused, charged, or convicted of unauthorized use of flock over the license plate readers. But the personal flock is really not limited to the revelations of misuse of this product by law enforcement. Two other prominent politicians have recently come out with strong statements. Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders said he would introduce legislation to stop flock in AI mass surveillance. And then Florida Governor Ron Desandes said he was supporting new restrictions declaring that automated license plate readers had gotten out of control.
