Despite sleepwalking through the first half, the Atlanta Hawks gain steam down the stretch and sweep the Philadelphia 76ers on the season series on Saturday at State Farm Arena.
The win not only gives ATL the NBA's current longest win streak at 6 but also marks as only the 6th franchise in league history to record its 3,000th win and during the stretch leads the NBA in scoring, steals, points off turnovers, fast break points and point differential.

To make that sixth straight, we will talk about and give you our takes on how the Hawks
were able to pull off the 125, 116 win tonight over the Philadelphia 76ers and they were
able to do it because of an amazing player of the game, one all star, if you will, but
also because of an X factor who really made his presence felt in this game so that we're
talking about, again, another one of these great wins by the Hawks.
And one of the things that we knew Dishon, but we're now seeing come to fruition is
the fact that the Hawks would have one of the easiest schedules down the stretch, but
you still have to play the game and you still have to win the game and the Hawks did both
tonight.
And because of that, you said that your take was as simple as this, rim pressure equals
W's.
For sure, a lot in large part because of what Jaylen Johnson was able to do, but not
even just him.
You know, when you start talking about being able to penetrate and get to the, being
able to penetrate and get to the basket, I mean, listen, for a team that had been shooting
it as well as the Hawks had, not just from the field, but also from three and finding the
balance between that and penetrating to the basket against some of the bigs, the
Andre Jummans and fighting back, punching back, the physicality, obviously, was there.
I know that was something that, you know, Philly had been honing in on.
I kind of felt like that was the only way that they knew that they would be able to win
the match.
I'm going to talk about that season.
I know we're going to touch on that.
But what the Hawks need to do is they needed to match that same energy.
And I don't think that they did that in the first half, more so in the second half, a
lot more in the fourth quarter, but I think it was good that it wasn't just Jaylen Johnson.
It was a collective unit, collective effort, Corey Kispert, even, who I think sometimes
is as much praise as he gets for his outside shooting ability.
He's also a guy that has some sneaky athleticism that can go up and get you a basket at the
rim as well.
And, you know, quite a few different guys, Muhammad Gaye, who's always open to mixing it up
a little bit.
So I didn't get as much contribution from the bench on tonight.
I'm not sure the last time that we didn't have anyone on our bench that scored in double
digits.
But not alone still found a way to walk away with the win.
And I think a lot of that is because of the Hawks, you know, ability to not just shoot
the basketball from the outside, but to also show some fearless play by going inside
as well.
Yeah.
I love what you're saying there because when you look at a team like the Philadelphia 76ers
and yeah, they may have had a few players out here and there, but they still had Tyree
and Tyree's backsy.
They still had Andre Drummond, but you still have bigs in there and you still have bodies
that could bang inside with the Hawks and the fact that the Hawks were standing toe-to-toe
with them.
I think that that's amazing.
And one of the things I wanted to look at just in going through what you said, just
looking at the stat line, when you think about blocks, I mean, yeah, the sixers had four,
but the Hawks had two.
So I felt like they were standing kind of toe-to-toe with them.
When we look at the rebound advantage, that's actually advantage Hawks and particularly
just a little bit of an edge defensively, but also the offensive rebounds because that
means that to me, the Hawks are saying, hey, whether we have that long rebound from a
missed three or whether there was a missed opportunity inside from getting a shot, the
Hawks said, hey, we're going to be the ones that are going to get the second chance opportunities
and that's going to be so critical to what it is that we're able to do in winning this
game.
I think those are key components.
And then when I look at the free throw line and that particular stat line, when you get
to the basket, the Sean, that tells me you're not afraid to be successful.
That tells me that you're not afraid to get in there and try to get something near the
rim or inside the paint.
And then the Hawks were able to capitalize.
Anytime you and I can talk about getting or attempting to get to the basket in that
way.
And the Hawks shoot 80% from the free throw line.
That's always going to make us happy on this Hawks post cast.
So yeah, I think you're right.
The fact that the Hawks weren't afraid to really live this game around the rim, I think
is awesome.
And for me, I want to piggyback on something that you said.
It was something I heard on the post cast, but also something that I heard our friend
Steve Holman voice of the Hawks mentioned throughout the course of the broadcast.
And if you'll see, I'm actually remote.
So I was listening to the broadcast tonight as opposed to being in the arena.
I'll might live back from Alabama and something that Steve kept saying, especially at the
end of that third quarter, when the Hawks were coming, the Hawks were coming.
And then you get to that fourth quarter and you see that the Hawks are able to sustain
what they did because they did not back down.
There were moments where Philly thought it was going to be a bully ball situation like
about Nikhil Alexander Walker post game interview was he said, no, not today, not my house.
He liked the way that this squad played.
And he actually mentioned even the new, the newer players for this unit, he talked about
Jaclyn Dale and what he was able to do and said, didn't get it double digit game from
Jaclyn Dale, only one rebound, but we did get seven points from him on two or four shooting
and he was able to make a three.
And then Zachary resuscitate again, didn't get a great night from him, but the eight points,
the four rebounds and the way that he was able to actually just stay in there and stick
to it.
I think that was awesome.
But yeah, Nikhil Walker Alexander, Alexander Walker talked about how good it is to see
this team jelling so quickly for round two, right?
Because this is that second wave of players that the Hawks have acquired since the beginning
of the season.
He feels like they're not only jelling quickly, but they're jelling at both ends of the court.
How many times do we talk about the importance of going on a run and getting it right at
the right time?
Hawks are 33 and 31.
They only have two more losses than the sixers.
This is the time to make a push so that you can either sneak your way into the top six
and avoid it all together.
But if not, at least maybe sneak into that seventh position and you're able to have
what more than that one opportunity to then be able to get in and stay in the post season.
And not even completely healthy as we're still missing Jonathan Kaminga.
You know what I mean?
So being able to gather some wins without Kaminga, Kaminga coming in and putting the exclamation
point on things, he's out of the lineup for another game and still able to continue winning.
They're finding ways to get it done.
Finding ways to add a number to the left side of the result column, even when Jalen Johnson's
not playing or even when he's not playing well.
So I think some of those things are just very telling in terms of how this team is constructed,
how this team believes in itself.
It all sounds great when you're just saying next man up.
It sounds really cute to say.
But there aren't a lot of teams that I think are the ability to go out there and do it.
I mean, they have the longest win streak in the NBA right now, being six.
This is the longest of the entire season that we've seen so far.
This is also three thousand, this is the three thousand if that's a such thing, I'm sure
to need you.
You'll remind me if it's not three thousandth win for this franchise.
That's I mean, and they're not here the best thing.
They're not even I don't think they're not even playing their best brand of basketball yet.
They're not even have a chemistry established just yet to a point where it's like, hey,
we've got a group of guys that have been doing this together for a while.
The way that they're playing looks like that they are cohesive unit that have been together
for quite some time.
So I think that all those things are really good signs playing and winning games at home
is probably the biggest sign for me personally because that that's something that we've kind
of dealt with all year long and having one of the easier schedules remaining left in
the NBA.
I mean, right, we went from talking about, you know, having concerns about even being
a play in team, then being a position for a play in, now have a realistic conversations
about a play off scenario, dare I say getting ready to look like they're churning in the
direction of where they can be a lock for a play and not yet, but the way that they're
playing the style, the energy, the vibe, they're getting closer to that.
Yeah, and you're right, not their best game, 21 turnovers.
Certainly something that Quinn Snyder wants to clean up, but if you have 21 turnovers
and then have an impressive win like this against the Sixers, then another win against
the books.
And then was that I say impressive wins against the Wizards only because the Wizards always
give the oxfits, no matter whether they're playing great ball or whether they're trash,
they always give the oxfits.
So that's why I say, hey, look, I'm still good with
that with those two wins as being important wins, and also their wins in the Eastern
conference.
So if you can stack wins in the Eastern conference, even if it's not against the best
of competition, that's all that matters.
And the reason one big reason that they were able to stack a win tonight is because they
were able to get a nice bounce back game from who our play of the game is, we'll tell
you that guy coming up next.

But man, listen, I could not miss the opportunity to talk about this game because how many times
throughout the course of the season was there a situation where the hawks were right there.
With a team like the Philadelphia 76ers within two points within six points and then all of a sudden,
the other team goes on a run and we're having a conversation about the hawks missing out on an
opportunity. Didn't miss out on that opportunity tonight and mostly because of the player of the game.
This is the walk done player of the game.
So number one did number one things in 39 minutes.
Jalen Johnson, a double double 35 points 10 rebounds, seven assists in two steals on the night.
He was a plus 12 when he was in the game and that is why Jalen Johnson was our player of the game.
But if I can also say this to Sean, it wasn't just the 35 points in 39 minutes.
It was the fact that he took over and really made this a Jalen Johnson game at the perfect moment
that moment at the end of the third quarter when you started seeing his two way play really coming
to form. And then in the fourth quarter, when he really helped the hawks to dominate the game and
really kind of take over. And even when it looked as though Philadelphia was going to try to make a run,
Jalen Johnson seemed like he was always there, including on 12 of 19 shooting, not just that,
but also two of four from the three point line, a perfect nine of nine from the free throw line.
And with the hawks scoring, outscoring, rather Philadelphia 28 to 22 in that fourth quarter,
he was a big reason for this win tonight. Our Mr. Do everything player.
Yeah. Why he's the player of the game. But, you know, I think even more so is the attitude
that the team needed in the fourth quarter. He led the way with we already talked about his
ability to be able to attack the rim and put, you know, have a strong presence at it.
But even more so of the fact of the refuse to lose attitude, the refuse to allow,
you know, Philly to be able to come back and have an answer every single time that Philly,
you know, trying to make a run. I remember seeing in the first, you know, first quarter where
Philly went on a 20 to six run and I was wondering, okay, who's the guy that's going to put
this team on his back? Where is Jalen Johnson? And while he didn't necessarily play bad, it looks
like he was having one of those uncharacteristic Jalen Johnson games. But that's why you play all
the way until there's zero seconds left on the clock all the way through the fourth quarter.
And I think it was good that, you know, he came with that kind of approach because he got hot at
the right time. Some people are going to get hot at the beginning of the game and then they can't
throw the bat, you know, the ball in the basket in a second half or more so in the fourth quarter.
I think it was really indicative that, you know, he got hot at the time that he did and
really the team kind of fed off of some of the energy that he approached the second half with.
And I thought that that was great and obviously smooth as post game comments saying that we've
seen big leads on us before, but they kind of stick together. It feels like the camaraderie amongst
the guys are a little bit different with the way that this roster is currently constructed.
And I want to point out something that at Hawks fan 94 just dropped in the comments. He says,
if JK plays an embraces his role and obviously our everydayers like Robert Blackman 7235 and the
like they're, they're chopping it up in the comments. But I think one of the reasons Hawks fans
94 said that is because they're going back and forth just all of them debating and we appreciate
of course our everydayers for joining us tonight. And they're talking about whether or not the
Hawks can get to that 60 or the 70 that he says if JK plays an embraces his role. Now I'm just
going to assume that Jonathan Kaminga, but I also want to add to that, I think it's more Jalen
Johnson. If Jalen Johnson plays his role and embraces his role, because remember, we wondered
just after the tray young tray, if that may have been a little bit for Jalen Johnson to kind of
have on his shoulders because now, hey, you're the face of the franchise. So when we're in crunch time
and the team is looking to you, can you deliver? We don't know for sure because Jalen hasn't really
spoken on it, whether or not that pressure was kind of weighing him down in the beginning once the
team parted ways with tray young. But you got to think that might be what it is because maybe about
four or so games after that he was right back to double, double, triple, double Jalen Johnson.
And now it seems like he's comfortably fitting into his role. Now he's still a very quiet leader,
but that's why you have a Nikhil Alexander Walker to be more of that vocal leader, if you will.
But I do think that yeah, although Hawks fan 94 was probably talking about Kaminga,
I think that as long as Jalen Johnson embraces his role, then everybody else on this team follows,
and as long as now has the opportunity to do what he does, which is the more the vocal leader,
more of kind of your floor general for lack of a better term in the absence of a true point guard.
I think that this team has every opportunity. But real quick, before we wrap up, it wasn't just
about Jalen Johnson and what he did as player of the game, but oftentimes in those crunch situations,
where it matters where you got to get a little grimy, your X factor is how you win the game as well.
It's time to reveal who made the biggest under the radar impact with today's X factor.
So Dishon, I think we have ourselves a Dyson Daniels getting grimy again, citing, and that's how he
was our X factor tonight. If I didn't hear Dyson Daniels going inside, Dyson Daniels scrambling for
the ball, Dyson Daniels with the steel. I mean, I just kept hearing his name at the most important
points in time for the Hawks to be able to stave off a comeback from the Sixers late and get the win.
By the way, Dyson Daniels, the fourth youngest to 2,000 points, adding 1,000 rebounds,
1,000 assists in 450 steals. Pretty good company as well. If I do say so myself, LeBron,
James, Chris Paul, and Magic Johnson. Dyson Daniels, I think, he puts the extra element
or emphasis on this team when he's able to play well. And I think probably the most impressive
thing is didn't really, you know, hang his head too low when he's not shooting the ball very well
from outside from three. Still finding a way to be impactful on the offensive side of the ball,
not just on the defensive side of the ball. Even when you have situations where Jaylen Johnson's
not playing well or not playing in that game, trying to find somebody who can kind of be that
de facto or by committee, you know, default point guard. We know that he's not the greatest
ball handler in the world, but still finding a way to be able to not lose you games from that
standpoint that may not always win you games in that regard, but definitely doesn't lose you games
either kind of like that extension of the coach on the floor game manager type of thing. That's not
always easy either, especially when you have to play both sides of the ball and you have to be the
leader on that other side. So congrats to him because we've been seeing him put it together so
much more on the offensive side of the basketball and just slowly game by game week by week month by
month starting to look more and more like giving us the vibes that we got last year from Dyson Danes.
Yeah, looking like 2024, 2025 Dyson and we're here for it. 15 points on seven to 10 shooting from
the field nine rebounds. So almost a double double for him as well to go along with four assists and
two steals just two turnovers and a plus 14 in his 35 minutes for the Hawks tonight. The Hawks
