Hi, this is Dave Roberts. Heading into summer without a medical emergency kit, that's a risk. Summer colds can linger and getting sick on vacation can derail everything. That's why everyone needs a medical emergency kit. It includes doctor prescribed medications to treat common and serious illnesses. So if you wake up sick, at home or on the road, you already have what you need. It's like having an urgent care and pharmacy at home. Say $45 with code blue at urgentcarekit.com slash blue urgent care kit dot com slash blue. This hour of overdrive is powered by fan duel. Fan duel bringing you everything from the opening line to the final score. All right, here we go overdrive often running TSN 1050 on the TSN app. Your home smart speaker up on TSN 5 upon YouTube live. First day of school Brian haze the Odogge Foneal. Jamie noodles McClellan and all on the back. Great to be back. Great to be back. I had something that was said to me yesterday. It really got my attention.
I almost found it somewhat alarming at cop and wood having a bite to eat. And this guy was there, but I don't know how old the guy was and I'm trying to kind of. I'm thinking he was 35 or something. Yeah. And he was going to the can and he stopped and he looked at me and he goes. Are you the guy from overdrive? And I go, yeah, he goes, I want to shake your hand. He goes, I've been watching you almost all my adult life. Then I was got my attention because I'm like, how old are we? Yeah, that guy's talking about his adult life. Yeah, so this guy and then I was thinking because I always have this thing where I've only been doing this couple of years. I know it's been a long time. We've been in this building for like 15 years and this guy has been watching the whole time. His adult life is adult life. His adult life. Yeah, and a handshake in the washroom. No, I thought that's where I was. I was sitting down. He was going like he was going to the bathroom. I see. But all of his adult life, I was like, man, we've been. I know I was thinking a bit about that this morning.
You know, we've been in the afternoons now for 11 years. Is it year 11? Year 11 and we would have done four or five before that in the early afternoon. And you and I, we were together on our own. We have time on downtown on Richmond. I love that. I love that. I'm building in there. There's the hand. Yeah, that's the hand. You should have a poster of you in the window. I should. With the blue shirt on the hand screaming into the microphone. Remember, he did four hours. That's right. I love telling people that like it means something. People ask me that all the time. So much. Never do anything on your own. Actually, I did four hours. I used to do on my own. Four hours. Yeah, that's how old we are now. Almost depressing. And most times when we get back here, it's just like, man, thank God I wasn't working during the summer because there was nothing going on this summer. There has been a lot of stuff that I wish I was in here. I mean, the Hellebach stuff, the Larkin stuff, Detroit in general, the contracts in the NHL. Why?
Why? Why? Gladdy? What about our boy? It's not getting a lot of love. Pete Crow Armstrong. Yeah. Good to win. The NL MVP. Yeah, absolutely is. But the one thing that I was dying to be in here for two things. One was that little weasel in Chicago that faked a hole in one and drove to the house course early. And the phone on camera. Yeah. That drove behind the maintenance shed and parked his car and ran up to the hole and made a divot mark, put the ball in the hole. Right. I faked a hole in one, faked a phone call and got busted. I could not believe that. And the second thing that I cannot stop watching the videos is the fake 49ers guy. Oh, yeah. Doogie's big on that guy. He called me last week. He likes that guy. He got it. I think he's a fan of this guy. Like the story is he was pretending to be a white.
Right? Right. You're not going to be able to get a 40, 9 or 10 player. And you scanned women out of one point three million dollars. A lot of money. But that wouldn't have to be. Wouldn't you have to ask yourself. If this guy showing me all these videos of the money and the safe and these bags and the cars, why would he be asking me for money? Well, that is exactly right. Unfortunately, fraud happens a lot in society where afterwards you hear the story and you think to yourself, what was going through your mind like, how could you possibly fall for that? for that, that you think that person would need money at that situation. But you're right, that's a, that guy, you know why it worked? The videos are insane. He was taking the helmet everywhere everywhere. A helmet, as if that made that's how you're a member of the at-home story. This would be like, this honestly would be like, doogie taking an Argo's helmet down to the beaches and running route patterns and having JP throwing him past. Yeah. And making, putting music to it and saying training for training cap and somebody say,
oh man, that's a money out of this somehow. And he was working for him because it's a 53-man roster plus practice squad in the NFL. Now you would think, because back in the day when you guys played, now you actually were NHL players. There are a lot of guys who would blame they playing the NHL. They didn't. But before Google and stuff, women would have to make a judgment call. I caught an imposter of mine. Look at this guy, Jay. Look at this guy. The training Kyle Shanahan just gave me a call. Like, I'm not sure he is helmet. Why is he wearing a helmet? That's what he's a 49er player. Watch him run though. This dude is not an NFL player. I know. First of all, he doesn't have the build like, yeah, he's not big of a ball. It could be a cornerback or something. Maybe a wider. But watch this route. He runs here and you're telling me someone's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. That sounds brother in the parking. It really is. And know what like who in the NFL is training with a helmet on at the beach.
It's the most absurd thing to fall to the victim that this guy went to like. He even changed like the the tight hats they wear. You had a Chargers one on. He's like, he nailed it. He got trade. I got traded. And then every time somebody's like, I can't see you on the roster. He's like, that's because there's a practice and I hurt my finger. So I'm not actually on the practice squad. Dude, this guy. I don't know how he kept up with all the lives. It's it is really wild. And eventually he got caught clearly. But yeah, we're living in a world now where you can't get away with what you used to get away with. You know, in terms of trying to convince people. Like, usually again, it would be a woman at the bar. Yeah, I'm in town. I'm playing for the, you know, I'm on the oilers or something. And you're like, please. Yeah, hopefully she does. You know, like hopefully she doesn't look at you and go, you're not. There's no chance. There's no chance you play in the NHL. Tony, that had me. I'm not saying I ever tried it. I'm saying. I told you, my buddies would have all kinds of routines. Talent checks at bars and stuff.
Yeah, we were a rock band. We were this. We were actually playing the NHL. So why would you feel obligated to change that story? Like maybe in Carolina, it doesn't fly. Well, too. I never had to say what you would have to. But it just would say anything back. You know what? You say anything. The thing that when I busted the guy, we were at Cowboys after a game. And I was standing on the corner upstairs. And a girl comes over and starts chatting. And I said, yeah, I'm Jamie McClendon. She's like, no, you're not that guy over there. And I'm like, what? And but think about it. The obscure backup gold. And nobody knows. Yeah. The perfect play. It was the perfect play. I sent him a drink. Good for you. From the bartender said, because you know, he knows you. Believe me. He did a B line out the door. You have to. That's immediately. What concerns you though is if the guy's a jackass and he does something illegal like this guy, the fraud, right? Totally. Although he was an impersonating. Anyway, like he was creating his own like he created his own personal football
reference page. Incredible. Yeah, it's crazy. I had a house in Malibu. I got a place in Miami. I know this. I got that. He's got everything training on the beach. Well, I actually have a list of things we'll get into a little bit later of like unresolved stories of the summer that are still kind of waiting. Therefore, I thought of you all summer. When this stuff would go down, I'm like, I wonder if Hazes had is going to explode about this and like the hell of buck thing like I. Crazy. Crazy. That they went public with that. That's a big one and the press release. His comments at the end of the season kind of indicated that, but you never knew, right? He let him cool off. Maybe but the double down right the end of the summer with the press release. Now everybody knew it. It was kind of the worst kept secret my understanding in Winnipeg, but that didn't mean everybody else didn't know for real what was going on. Well, now you don't you can't put the cat back in the bag, right? Now you can't claim, oh, that's I don't care what that guy thought. That's not true. Right. He's
highlighting the fact that he's out. I'm out. You know, I'm out. And now it's a the clock is running for day one of camp. Will he report? You know, we were having the conversation in the hallway because we're all doing our top 50 list for the NHL. Yeah. And I have to admit, I won't get into everything. I had a tough I had a difficult time placing him because I don't know if he's going to play like how can you project what hell of buck or larkin for that matter is going to do this year. If I don't even know if he's going to show up and play and what if he gets traded to a crappy team? What if he's in an awful situation? Exactly. And by crappy team, maybe a team that's still rebuilding. That's the wrong verb. But if I'm San Jose, I'm in on I'm in on hellbuck years, thinking four or five years from now, we're a rockstar team with Celebrini and some of the young players. And we, you know, if I'm San Jose, I look at if I'm Buffalo, I'm looking at them going, we got a hell of a team here. He might be the cherry on top. And for the fans of the Winnipeg Jets, and I understand there's some frustration here. You never want one of your star players to say,
I don't want to play here anymore. And I want out. But you have to say to yourself as an organization, great player, but you know what? What do we want with you? You can't just throw your arms up and say, all in hours, screw that Connor, hell of books moving out somewhere. The difficulty in the transaction is going to be you want some good players going back possibly a gold tender. Obviously, you would want to look into it. But with all of the no trades and no moves, how are you going to get somebody to go get back to Winnipeg in a deal? It's going to be awfully difficult. The one thing that was pointed out to me by some people in Winnipeg media was Chevy with his backup against the wall has done some pretty good work there. Keep of, you know, PLD trade trade was good. What he needs is cost control. You need to trade for players that you can control their contracts. Either young guys or guys that are locked into long term deals. Because you know what veteran players like Kyle Connor and Mark Schifle and Morrissey are going to say they always every NHL player says we don't
care about a first round draft picker. We don't care about cost control because we're trying to win right now and we're under the gun to win 100. What the hell does cost certainty players mean for us? What I mean is young players, you know, again, if I'm I don't think this would happen. But if I'm looking at Buffalo, it's like I need Zach Benson. I need a young good player that's that just sign an eight year deal or seven year deal that type of stuff because you know that they you've got them for a while and then he would have to demand out Winnipeg is it's a very slippery slope. We all know, you know, we love the people of Winnipeg. We've been there second home for you all of that type of stuff. But it's not on everybody's list and to be honest, it's on everybody's no trade list. It is. It's just you know, Edmonton was before McDavid got there. Ottawa's not on everybody's list. Carolina, they're winning cops, but they not on everybody's list. There's certain teams. It's a real slippery slope. And then if it happens to hella buck, are we asking is Kyle Connernex put
his hand up or Mark Schifley or Josh Morris here? Are those guys saying if we get a good return, we still got a really good team here. That's the question because you could make a case for like hella buck is the face of that organization like and he has he is their best player. He has a heart. Yes, he is the Winnipeg jets. As much as almost anyone in the league, short of pros being the pens, Ovetchkin and the capitals, maybe McDavid and the Orders. I mean, he's in that type of category as he represents the team. You can make the argument a strong one. Okay, he's put the white flag up. We all should as an organization. We got to reload this whole thing. But if that happens, if that's your decision, then the next call is probably from Conner and Schifley said, all right, we're out of here too. And then you got to fully commit. So for me, it's a real fork in the road. You either try to just concede on this, get as much as you can that's going to help you to continue to win and promote this idea that we're still in it to win it. Right. Or you strip it right down
to the wood. Like there's two options here for me. That's a vicious cycle though. Hey, I understand. You strip it down to the wood and then you get young players and then they turn into stars and then they want money and then they just say I'm out of here. And then it's like what do you got to on it? It's like you're rebuilding from a rebuild all the time. It's an awfully difficult. It's a very, very, very, very, very little track button's philosophy on this where it's like you can't throw your arms up and say there's nothing I can do here. You got to find a way to work. Good players in there and and and Chevy has had listen, he's he's I believe is he not one of the longest standing managers in the league. He's the only GM they've had. It's like I'm actually a pick. But he's done some good work there. But it was pointed out again, I talked to people in Winnipeg that they've won what four playoff rounds in and in the box of part of that too agreed. But I I think this is a team that is in real transition two years ago. They won the presence trophy. Yeah. Last year they missed the playoffs. There was a big step back last year. So I think with health, Adam Lowry is a fantastic leader, fantastic captain. They missed him for the first two months of the year last year.
Hella Buck injured. You look at you know, some guys had career years. Some guys did not play well. What do they have this year? That'll be interesting for me because now Colorado's not going anywhere. Minnesota's got some stuff. They got a sword out. Oh, Quinn Hughes. There's another one. You as open. Absolutely. And now like no one knows. It was funny. I received a lot of it. You're in his life or what? A lot of hockey players kicking around down there. But Hughes is still with his brothers down in New York. Right. And people and like it's that must send out a vibe like all the brothers picks. Well, I understand that they're family and they like hanging out together. But it's just I don't know what Billy G and I know he's been speaking to the media recently. But listen, there's nothing you can do. He's a UFA after this year. I know. And he's got all the cards and he always has you just your gut of gut right now September 8th. Does he extend it? Does he have a contract by this might be a confirmed deny or might be a Jerry's honest. Is this guy have a contract by December 1st? Their owner says he's
gonna. Yeah, he did. He put his mic down. I'm going to say yes. That they're going to find he's to your experience. He's going to get back to Minnesota and say man, we got a really good team here. Yeah. I don't you know, like I would assume New Jersey will do whatever they have to just sign it. Obviously, if you want to go to New Jersey next year, he'll do that. Right. And they'll give them the money. They'll make sure the money's available. I mean, I'm sure that's the case. And he's aware of that. I just don't think Jersey is a very good team. You know, we'll see what the new GM can do. We'll see what they end up like that's the spot. Maybe he'll have a buck ends up in that would be interesting because I don't know what that gold tending situation is going to look like. But if he wants to win, Minnesota is the obvious choice. Better team. Like they're a very good team. They're top five team in the league. Start power and close to putting the corner. They did. They just had murderers row there. Right. Exactly. And they beat Dallas. Yeah. And then they ran into it. It was a Colorado on the second round. Yeah. But they're they're a really good team. You know, he's been spending the summer with his brothers and all that. I get it. I feel like maybe he gets back to Minnesota,
gets in camp. And then he goes, all right, let's figure this out. Let's sign a two or three year deal. Maybe it's a one year extension. Maybe it doesn't make David. It's a two year thing. And it lines up with I think when Jack Hughes is going to be up and they decide, maybe it's not yours or they go somewhere else. Exactly. No, who knows? Maybe they go to Detroit. They're from Michigan, like anything's possible at that point. But it is a big it is a big story. And there's a lot of them. Like there's a lot of kind of unresolved stories. And we've got confirmed coming up later in the hour. Damn Patrick, the NFL starting tomorrow. I was driving in thinking about this with the Jays. He mentioned the blue Jays who they lost a tough one last night. He did that win last night. Like because he's got hit. He got hit hard. He couldn't hold base any runners last night. He lost the side. He probably fell far enough behind Shlitler. And judge is coming back tonight. Not that that necessarily fact is into the Scy Young. But all eyes are on New York. Shlitlers got the upper hand because he's a Yankee. Just quickly on the Scy Young, you find it crazy. How some guys records are like back in the day. It's like you had
that 20 wins. Yeah. Yeah. That's what the term. If you want. You're a 20 wins. You've got to get to 20 wins a year of the Scy Young. Yes. And then everything else kind of is debatable away from the people voting. But like 10 and five and it means wins and losses mean nothing. I find that to be a little bit much. I don't know. I just I guess it's old fashioned to think of the Scy Young winner having 20 wins. But that's just how I think. But you're right. That's what it was mandatory. You had to have 18 or 19 wins. But keep it minimum to be in the race for a Scy Young. That's why he was the magic. Yeah. Generally it was 22 and four or something like that. Keep in mind though, these guys are now going five innings six innings. It's different. So the wheels can fall off really quick there. I just I watched a ton of James games this summer. A ton. Yes. I'm so disappointed. But there's happy there's a lot of great battle themselves back into it which is pretty incredible. Which is great because I got a race and there were six games back and it was like, they both there they are with the injuries to the pitching staff. Yep. And
literally zero production for glad it less than zero zero. So that is what I was about to say. I came to a conclusion on the drive in here today that Vlad. He grew up junior is the luckiest man in pro sports because he still has an opportunity to salvage his season and his reputation. You have been I've been saying it for two weeks. It's like now is your time to go. He had that one game in Cleveland where he hit a bomb and it's like, is this guy going to go magic again just like he did in the playoffs last year. And as soon as that home run left the building and he had that five RBI game in Cleveland, he's been trash. He's done nothing the last few games last night was no different. But they have 17 games left. I'm not holding my breath. It's going to happen. But there a game out if he plays way he's capable of playing. If he can do what he did in the playoffs, which again, seems impossible based on possible. I have given up on that. He literally can salvage everything because if he throws them on his back for 17 games and gets them into the playoffs,
nobody is going to care about the first 140 games. Nobody like nobody cares. I'll go a step further. You can literally salvage everything here by getting red hot for three days. They make the playoffs. And he still continues. But they just the rest of them carry. Yeah. And he has a good playoffs. People don't care about like our stunt. But they got to make the playoffs for him to at least even have a chance. That's why he's going. This wasn't a burn. He's so lucky. His team has battled their way back into this because he has not contributed to it. He's he's got a 85 OPS and eight home runs. Somebody had it told you in March that Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is not going to hit a home run at home this season. What would you say to that person? You had to say he was clearly injured for the whole year. Like that would be the obvious answer. And then if you followed it up saying no, he was healthy and he's going to play every day. I'd say that's impossible. It's not true. And for his own kind of selfish reasons, he needs to go hero mode right now for his exit meeting alone.
Because if he's trashed the rest of the season, like aren't people like what are they going to say to him? I'm just saying. What's the old 450 million? I get it. But don't you think that Jay's brass are going to say like this guy hits 23 home runs last year. Now he's got eight. Yes, he was incredible and took us to the world's series. But what the hell do we have on our hands moving forward? It's a serious question. And it's one that he's looking at the answer. Offensively, like a guy that was I'm I text you guys the one time. I have to go from it. Literally there was a meatball came down over home plate. He looked like he got contact. I'm like, this is gone. They didn't make the warning track. No, dude. I know it's like what is it is either just a weird round ball of life or it's just a lot. It's like a guy that was using PEDs that stopped and it's just like he's got nothing. He's got nothing. And like last I seconded bad is a three and no count. And like why he doesn't have a red light in a situation like that. Based on the way he's
played this year is beyond me. Because he's Guerrero. They're like go ahead and hate if you see a pitch. Gets jammed. Dribbles one down a short. Like it's just like what are you doing, man? But again, he's got an appetite. This is enough. It's got an opportunity. I can't believe we're in a situation here where they have battled themselves in with all the injuries. Like you said, their rotation has been completely depleted. It still is. Like they they basically have two arms that they can trust. And one of them was last night. Yeah, maybe the worst outing of his season. He's really, really struggled last night. You got Soriano in the mound tonight. That's about it. You know, like sure as you have no idea, we don't know when your savage is coming back. You know, it's a real crapshoot. Three of the five starts. And he can go Lloyd Christmas and right in the Shagon wagon for a Mo PED and basically completely completely. He can. I'm not saying he will, but he's not doing it. And like Santana. Darius, maybe going to come back soon. I saw that guy's picking
I'm like, no way. You're healthy now. It's almost like a it's like a unit. It's like I didn't get it in our like a brand new shoulder from a pig. Yeah, it's thrown into his like upper body. The end of this week he's going to be in Buffalo. They can hack. But there is some the crazy part is is you had guys who again, career years. Yeah, you know, phenomenal might not win it, but he's right there. Bateman's an exciting play. You know, you're looking at guys and you're like, okay, we've got some Okamoto like, you know, some like 30 bombs. Awesome seasons. And then you're like Vladie. If he just was average, yeah, average 12 into the wild. If if Vladie had 22 dingers right now, there are two games into the wild card. Yes, maybe more than maybe chasing Boston. Like, like, we could get into that, but they are, you know, I hate to just single one guy out and go, this is the reason, but it that's the reason. So for the next calendar year, let's look past the next 17 games and assume it continues any resets and he starts his year next year. Who had,
who would you have higher expectations for in terms of their next full season? Vladie, junior or Austin Matthew? Well, first of all, let me ask you this. What is this season for Austin? Is this like Austin, Matthew's playing 82 games and having three goals? 84 games. Well, the equivalent that yeah, like this is basically think about that. Austin Matthews played 82 or 84 games full season that had three goals. Do you know what kind of misery that guy would be going through? Yeah. No, his as bat like Matthews has had two very down years based on his standards. They are light years better than what Vladie's played like this year. Statistically light years. Light years, but they're two they're the two faces of the organization. The two best players, two guys in their prime, two highest paid guys, two guys they rely on to have success. Yeah. So, you know, I expect more on the line. Be setting everything. Who do you think is going to have a better full season during their next game for me? It's Austin because last year was
a mess right from the drop of the puck. It looked like somebody had shot his dog because Mariner wasn't there passing in pucks. He didn't look like he was in a groove. They were trying, they were cycling through. It was Max Domey there like, you know, name players. Yarn Kroek was passing him the puck. He got Rick Michele like at some point there had to be some stability. There wasn't. He just didn't look comfortable and then the injury and they shot him down and that's it. Austin Matthews regardless of who he plays with and we had that chat out in the hallway. I still think the kid should get a lot of looks with him. Maybe does it say McKenna McKenna. Yep. But the end of the day the roster is more NHL players now this year than it was a year ago. However, I'm still concerned the bottom six doesn't score as much. You know, but turned it over. But they turned it over and the players look like they're slaughtered better and they are older. I am concerned there is father time some speed issues on some things. You know, but at the end of the day.
It's a total point. But I expect Austin Matthews. Mariner's gone now. He's not going to be asked about Mariner and that like that's gone and that was a thing that was over his head. He needed to figure out who he was going to play with. We'll figure out this year. Maybe it's Ross Levick. Maybe it's Nies Ross Levick. Maybe it's McKenna and they move Nies over to the right side because Cowan comes in and plays top six left side. There's options now and you're not worried about like how were we replacing Mariner's minutes. That's gone. They are replacing him internally and what they have. So I think he's poised to have a better season but health is a big part of it. The difficult question because what is Austin Math? Is it one versus the other? What would Austin Matthews have to do to have a better season than compared to what Vladie has to do? You know what I mean? For Vladie to have a breakout or a comeback season, what the hell is he? Yeah, at least 35 home runs. 30 plus home runs be a very difficult out. Lead the team in basically every statistical
category, which is what is expected. Right. And yeah, I mean, Matthews has set a higher bar based on the player he is. Right. You know, like Vladie had not ever established himself as a top five or even 10 player in the league. Get the capabilities at times he played himself into that ranking. Right. But I don't think it was consistently there. Austin has been for seven or eight years now. So the bar is higher for him. But I think the fact that we're having this debate and it's a legitimate question says something about the players and the teams and the uncertainty of what could happen in the future. I I I just would like to see Matthews get good looks. Last year, I don't think he got the looks that he was getting in the past years. You give a guy and rip the puck home. I understand that I understand that missing the net hitting cross bars like there. He didn't have a year last year. It was just everything he touched seemed to be the wrong way. But if he gets looks, he is still a one shot score. Now he doesn't need 10 shots to get one goal in a game.
One opportunity with a good look, he can make you pay. They got to get him the puck still. Who's going to do that? That's going to be the question for Jim Hiller and company at Austin. That matter. All right. Confirmed tonight coming up this afternoon, Dan Patrick would join us. The NFL season started tomorrow. Then Rams, Niners and Australia on Thursday. What a way to start your year. And when we come back, I'm going to tell you about Duffy with the biggest choke job at a club championship. I don't want to hear that. It's the it's the most loose or anything anyone's ever done on the court waiting to hear how we look. Okay. I'm I don't want to hear that. I'm worried about it. So tough. Ladies are guy we love him. All right. That more still to come over. Drive continues up on YouTube live.

Things you think about but would never say out loud. The questions you are always too shy to ask. Relationships, regrets, awkward moments and the stuff no one warns you about. It's honest, it's funny and sometimes it gets a little uncomfortable. But that's kind of the point. This is Cynthia and Josie's Unmentionables. Listen on the free iHeartRadio app or wherever you get your podcasts. I don't even know who's in the sea flight. Is that like 15 to because that's generally a like a it's the worst players in the club.
Yeah, it's a double digit cap hit for sure. So duffies on the back nine. I think on 10 or 11 and he hits a sky ball in the air. And he says to his playing partners. Did anyone see that? It was a pop up. No, this thing gets way worse. Anyone see that is playing partners are like no idea where that ball went man. He's got to reload. So on his way down he's got one of these power cards. Okay. And he's just rattled looking for that first t ball to see. I guess it was a provisional or something. So he's looking for the first golf ball. And his power card goes with the clubs on it goes over the top of a bunker and cripples over like it just balled. Everything comes out of his bag like all the bump golf balls are everywhere and all his clubs fall out. He's throwing barris. He's like the guys didn't help me. I'm putting all my stuff back into this golf bag.
He gets to the next he so he makes a double or triple and then he gets to the next he. When his power card went over the bunker it snapped his driver. Oh, no. So like you must have thought like oh he missed the four footer or something to lose the C flight. His power caddy drove into a bunker and broke his clubs and he could like the skyball and he was just rattled and he was dead. Yeah, because that's the matter of your pride. You're fried after that. You're toast. You start hitting wacky shots and then stuff like that happen because it happens all the time with the guys with the motorized cars they stop paying attention and it'll go right into a lake. Literally that happens. Guys aren't paying attention and they're like dude your clubs are gone. I know that is crazy. Terrible is that like one nerdy way to choke away the championship. Yeah, you flip your bag over and snap your QI. So does he yet to use a different drive? He was and he can't hit a three would off. You know, like if he's trying to motor around a tough track,
you need that driver working for you. That's very difficult for you. I just felt that very tough guy because that is the nerdiest way of all time to lose the club seat. That's unfortunate. And that is not fabricated by this. Sometimes I like to puff up a story here. No, that's true. That's the truth. I could see that being real. I've heard horror stories of guys who have literally lost their clubs right in the water. How much would you pay to watch that video? That would be a great video to see him. Imagine the panic on his face. Him chasing it, chasing it down. It flips and then realizing it. Imagine his wife if she went out to watch. And there's my hubby. Like, oh, he's side one. Oh, there goes the card. Oh, no, it's card. So that is a burn lung quiz. Yeah. Well, the choppiest thing you can do on a golf course is hit a shot where you go, well, you've lose it. Like when you start going like this, like on that's like, you know that look. Like I've seen guys do that with wedges in their hand where they don't know where it goes. I'm like, dude, you're hit 40 or shot. How do you lose your golf ball? Like you really have no control over your face. This would be, this is probably a great
invention. AI where it can track your ball no matter what. And it just tells you your ball is up. Probably is coming 190 yards. They cost enough already. But it might be worth it. If you can find your golf ball, you never lose one. That's possible. I could see that being. I misspoke. It wasn't burn lung quiz. That's a Sam Rosen where it's like, oh my goodness. That's right. I was Mike Medano at the guard. I believe it was on old school. Like that Brent Mustberger would have had a field day with the old Western Michigan. No, there's a girl that was like an old Miss fan. I saw this. The camera. The cameraman literally this poor girl just showed her on TV. That's it. Yeah. I know that must burger. He would have loved that that 30 rat. He would have loved it. Yeah. Yeah. Two. Look at her. It was great. I know, but this girl has said ever since that happened, she's gone viral. Like people have been creeping out who she is. Well, because she's up to and DMing her, she's a beautiful woman. The zoom in on the camera is what
was wild. The guy. It's a great thing. It's a fan that can't believe it. And then they start doing the zoom in. Yeah. People like the camera guy cannot be serious. Really enjoying himself. Was that really necessary to pull that off? I saw one of the creepiest tweets. You got our hands up like this and one guy tweeted. Arm pit guys. And I'm like, how creepy can you? Arm pit lovers? There's no such thing as armpits. I have not heard of it, but I guarantee you. I do. You go on to those. There's neat guy. There is not an armpit guy. I guarantee in my entire house, I almost passed out when I read that one. Arm pit guys checked this out. I guarantee you there is a Reddit, a subreddit out there. You hear of these only fan models going, I made a $1,000,000 in the people that wanted a picture of it by Joe. I get let in the pic of this old Miss girl fan at the game. And I'm going to like the tweet is insane.
I thought you're going to say that Michigan Western Michigan final where the clock was at zero. Oh, and they went out about it. And then they, well, they, they, they, they reviewed it. And then they got the Hail Mary at the end of Michigan and ended up winning the game. Yeah. That was the new coaches first. Yes, it was. Yeah. Yeah. This, this was it, which was just create. This was the original one. So the clock is like, oh, no, this is the end after it was down to zero. Okay. So the original, the original player, the first play ended the clock is at zero. Yes. 100% and there are five feet out of the end. Yeah, without question. And it's one of the biggest offsets ever. Like Appalachian state beat Michigan earlier about 20 years ago, probably the biggest upset college football history. This would have been way up their Western Michigan. This was a layup for them. Anyway, they end up winning it in the end. They storm the field, which a lot of people are taking issue with. Like it's weak one against Western Michigan, probably not worthy of storming the field. But that put the refs immediately on glass. Like what are you watching? What are you doing?
You talk about a zoom in. How does this all think up? Like we're sitting here at home. It doesn't possibly make sense. Yeah. But it brought football right back into the forefront. Like it's go time, hitting on rafts and how are you? Are you fired up for your packers this year? I'm nervous about them. I got to be honest. Like Josh Jacobs is now on the exemption list. He's not going to play him in not play all year. So I don't know what's going to happen with their backfield, their offensive line or secondary. There's some, you know, Parsons isn't going to play the first four or five weeks of the year. I'm a little bit concerned. I got to be honest. But Packers or chiefs more concerned about packers right now. Really? Yeah. Chiefs. Why is Parsons not playing? He's coming off the ACL injury. He's still recovering. Like they they have a team policy. They don't let you play. They don't even let you think about coming back prior to like nine months or something post-op. So he had surgery week 13, whatever was week 14 last year. So he's not going to come back until week five or week six. The chiefs are a weird team because
they were so dominant, so good. And they have one off year. And a lot of myself included or like I don't even know if they're a playoff team. They could win a Super Bowl this year. And a lot of people myself included will look back and say, what the hell are we thinking doubting Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reed? Well, there were some pictures floating around about Taylor Swift's husband looking a little well, not a shade. And that's a problem. Who is Mahomes going to throw the ball to right? As an issue. How many weapons do they have? They have Kenneth Walker there now who won the Super Bowl MVP. But they they have a spotlight on them. My bills. They'll have Mahomes. My bills are ready. I think Buffalo bills are ready to go. We're going down there for their home opener. And I find it amazing how this we're going to be down there. We can't wait Thursday night against Detroit. That's going to be fun. I find it amazing how this T-hawks went on an incredible what run in one the Super Bowl. And the next year like they get zero love. I know. Like everyone's all in the Rams and the Rams have these additions. They got Garrett and Donald coming out of retirement.
And it's like Seattle. No one talks about the all always go back to the other picks like the Rave. I swatch out for the Ravens again. The bills. So oh, and they just bypass the out of let me ask you about the Carolina Hurricanes. Are they going to get that same love? I think that's not going back to back. I'll say it right now. I don't think Carolina is going to stand a cup. But they went 16 and three in the playoffs. They were unbelievable. So why would you just work that out? Because I don't think they're going to. You just 42 minutes to do it. You just say something stupid. I'm just telling you I don't think they're 16 and three. Why would they not do it again? I you brought up Seattle. I'm like that is the Carolina Hurricanes. Nobody is going to see how to do it. I was a better chance at a Super Bowl. I think the time me why you would say that's a couple of different reasons. One, it's so tough to go back. I get Anderson's not there. I get that Florida just did it. I guess that Tampa's done a reason. It's incredibly difficult. And each other history going back to back is very, very tough. Yeah. They're like Bussies didn't play until game four. The cup final or whatever. What the hell? Like man. I don't know what their goal
tenings like they give up ten shots again. They were unbelievable. Brenda Moore is going to have them rocking. They're going to the playoffs. I have no doubt about that. I think they might win the division. I just think it's very difficult to go back to back. It's a longer right. You got to win 16. Right. In the Super Bowl, you got to win four. You know, and if you win the top seed, you got to win three. I just give you four teams that you would put a head of Carolina as a Stanley Cup favorite Colorado. I would. I put Colorado ahead of them. I would. I got one. You're just doing what I talked about with the NFL. I've got one and this is crazy. The Florida I don't know about them. I think they've got the best top nine in the league without question. I agree with that on paper. It's on paper. It's on paper. Their top nine is disgusting. And then their top four deer. Really good. You're right. Markstrom is not Bibrofski. He cares me. But again, Markstrom's not playing behind New Jersey. You're like, Markstrom's a good goalie. Now he's 36 though. Correct me if I'm wrong. 35 36.
He's got something to prove there. You're right. It's not Bibrofski. But I think that Florida team is rested and they're really good. So I Carolina deserves more love. But you just brought up Seattle. I've given to the man and I just completely just. It should be theirs and somebody's got to take it. You're just doing exactly what I said about the Seattle Seattle. I don't think Seattle's going to win the Super Bowl. Like there's only one team that can win. I'm not saying they're going to miss the playoffs. And you're not wrong in terms of how good they are. They're an exceptional team. They're a young team. They've lost some pieces. Everyone does. But Seattle, they also have the luxury of not going to Australia to start their season. I think the Rams and Niners are getting jammed up big time here. They're halfway around the world. They're playing in Australia. That's crazy. It's I always said that about the NHL. You're playing 82 games a year. Why on earth? I think a couple of years ago the LA Kings were in Australia doing something. Yeah, they're great. It's like baseball. All this like Europe in the middle of the season. 82 games. It's insane. Yeah. Why would
you even contemplate it? It's too much for the travel. Now there's 84 games. But the NFL just 17 games. I know. We can handle Australia. It's in the travel. They're going back to the West Coast. I know. It's a great game to get. If you're in Australia, you get Rams, Niners. What a launching pad into the NFL. It is good. But it's still I fast going a lot. The players have got to be rattled. Of course. Because you're it messes with their body clock. And we all know we've traveled like it doesn't take two days to recover from that type of time zone. Well, don't take a minute. How long did they get there before the like they got there a week before? No, so they've done two different things, which is pretty fascinating. We talk about sports science all the time. Yeah. The Niners went about a week before the Rams are like flying in today or yeah. They're doing two totally different things. The interesting to see who's fresher. Exactly. The Rams are banking on body clock. Like they're they're going to sleep on the plane and get up and pretend they're still in LA effectively. And the Niners looked at it like we got to get there, get acclimated, get hydrated.
So they're playing it very differently, which is pretty fascinating. We'll see who's got it right. Damn Patrick on that more in about 20 minutes mentioned Florida. There's some back and forth between the Panthers and the Senators already. We'll tell you what some of these players are doing and what they're saying. We'll get into that. Confirm with the nice though to come as well. Overdrive continues up on TSN five. Hi, this is Dave Roberts heading into summer without a medical emergency kit. That's a risk. Futures day on Fandool with the NFL season starting tomorrow get to some future picks. Next hour by the way jerk move what I did to Brad today or you like it. No, I like that place. So we're in on the survivor pool. Yes. Some guy wanted to join forces with me and Hazy the guy that the guy that got us in the pool. He's a beauty. We love the guy. But he said you guys want to join forces. And I just gave the middle finger emoji. No chance. That's a tough. I know. But we're like Simon and Garfunk and we're not even that good. Like we've been getting crushed. Like we don't go far. But we just want to do our own thing. Are you in for two or one? I think three pack.
Oh, yes. We're going three. Three, but his his text was do you want to join forces the way I have a better chance? Kind of hedging. Yeah, exactly ahead. And I just was like I don't like that. I don't stick together because we you're this invested year after year after year. If you hit the jackpot, you also don't want to spread the wealth out. Yeah, but you get jammed up by like teams that the general years ago, the lions jammed you. We got so jammed up one year by I think it was the line. It was the Rams. It was Jared Goff lost to the Jets. I think and they were like a 16 and a half point favorite at home. We've 16. I know. And we had a clear path because we had everything lined up and Jerry Goff absolutely jammed us. Completely jammed us in the biggest upset in Vegas history. Literally one of the biggest ever. It's a how big of a favorite they were. And we're not just saying this. We had lined up like all right next week it's tamper the way and they all hit like we would have got you. I want to be Jerry Goff is the guy that we hit. We're like we this is a layup. We're in like two of us are celebrating. We're like the
Rams are going to win this. Yeah. And the next two weeks were set with our pegs and they hit in Jerry Goff. Jam does got dealt for staff. I think that year and he's still in Detroit. So we're going to get into this more in the next hour and we got all week to get into this all season to get into this. I'm sure you saw Brad Martian made a little chippy comment on Instagram when there was something posted about who could be the future captain in Ottawa. Shabbat. Sanders sender sender sender students. Yeah. And he goes ha ha ha students. La ha ha ha which seems so unnecessary. Like you're like a 40 year old guy. You know, I get he plays the role and he does it very, very well. But he takes a run at stutz. And now Shabbat's talking about could Chuck leave in today. And there's a lot like that. It has the potential for a lot of animosity. Well, the games early too. Isn't it October 20 first week or two of the year in Ottawa? Yeah. The first is first time back. Let's go down to that game. It'll be phenomenal. Here's my
concern is that Ottawa doesn't have really any muscle. Like they don't like who like if if Florida rolls in there and goes we're going to we're looking for a fight tonight. Well, what are they going to do about that? Think about this. The Ottawa are the Toronto Maple Leafs are going to be playing the Florida Panthers. And one of their defensemen took out Austin Matthews last year. But you would think that there would be a build up that that game's going to be a bloodbath. Who's Toronto have to turn that into a bloodbath or any kind of like Tampa Florida? Florida's built their team that way. You're right though. I don't think I don't think they have to I don't think they can look at it that way because you're right. Like Florida will have a lineup of guys that'll put their hand up. I don't see Ottawa. I think there's guys who have team toughness. But like Dylan Cousins fights, but he's not going to yeah. He's not taking on five of them. Right. I just like you're right. You look at that. Well, they're not built that way. Yeah. And the Leafs aren't either. You're right. I mean, Florida is very exclusive in that way. Like they've got two Kachak. They are bar room brawlers. Then it can fight clearly.
That clouds a big boy that'll play tough. Goudus is on their team now. Yeah. Like they have four or five six guys who are more than happy to do. And they all have that like even Listerine and then Lindell and that. They play Chippy. They don't you know, they don't fight or you know, but they play they play. They're all in type of thing. I talked about it a few years ago. Got that half the way. Yes. And they did. They got garnered halfway. Just to add insults. Just for fun. Like Brady could chuck his down there. And Brady is not a guy like a villain. Necessary. He isn't kind of Toronto and Montreal because he was Ottawa's captain in that history. You know, all that kind of stuff. But he doesn't he doesn't he's not like his brother in that manner. Right. But like Matthew Bennett, Goudus, Marchan, like those four away ahead of him in terms of the like Hado meter for other teams, some GMs and they might tell say we need some whiskey drinkers on this team, meaning like some old school. Yeah. They don't need any more on that team. They don't they don't know they don't. All right. Our two coming up damn Patrick confirmed that
