Headlines: Wages rising slower than prices

• The wage price index for the June quarter remained at 0.8%, new figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics show.
• The Sydney Swans has announced that five of its players – Isaac Heeney, Chad Warner, Nick Blakey, James Jordon, and Riley Bice – have been banned from play for the rest of the 2026 AFL season.
• U.S. President Donald ‌Trump has paused 50% ‌tariffs on ⁠goods from ​Canada.
• And today’s good news: Coral reefs off the coast of West Africa presumed dead for more than 60 years have been found teeming with life.
