Heartbeat - When Saying No Means Being Left Out

LifeAudio

About this episode

Have you ever felt left out because of your faith?

Maybe you walked away from a situation because you knew it wasn't right. Maybe you skipped an event, conversation, or relationship because you wanted to honor God. And even when you know you made the right choice, being excluded can still hurt.

In this episode of HEARTBEAT, we explore the tension between following Christ and wanting to fit in. For young Christians especially, the pressure to belong, the fear of missing out, and the desire for approval can be difficult to navigate.

Jesus never promised that following Him would always be popular. In John 15:19, He reminds His followers that they are not defined by the world's acceptance. They have been chosen by Him.

When following Jesus makes you feel left out, remember that you are never left out of God's family. The approval of Christ is greater than the approval of any crowd.

Have you ever felt left out of a social situation because of your faith? Maybe your friends were doing something you knew wasn't right. Maybe you skipped an event, a conversation, or even a relationship because you wanted to honor God. And if we're honest, that can hurt. Nobody likes feeling excluded. Especially when we're young, the pressure to fit in and the fear of missing out can feel overwhelming.

But Jesus never promised that following Him would always be popular. In fact, He said in John 15, 19, if you belong to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. When following Christ makes you feel left out, remember this. You're never left out of God's family. His acceptance is greater than the approval of any crowd. For more episodes of Heartbeat, visit SalvationArmyRadio.org. Thank you so much for listening to Heartbeat.
