Hendon Hooker Returns to Tennessee, Jets Seek Backup

On April 2nd, the New York Jets keep shuffling their quarterback lineup.

They traded Justin Fields to the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this off-season after grabbing

Geno Smith as the starter.

Tyra Taylor is still a free agent, with talks of a possible return next year up in the

air.

Now another former Jets QB, Hendon Hooker, is signing with the Tennessee Titans.

Earlier this week, NFL insider Jordan Schultz broke the news that Hooker is heading to Tennessee.

He joined the Jets late last season in December for emergency depth when injuries hit Fields

and Taylor hard.

Hooker got promoted to the active roster in January, but never saw game action there.

Hooker has limited NFL experience just three games with the Detroit Lions last year.

He went six of nine passing for 62 yards, no starts.

Fans remember him most from his college days as a star at the University of Tennessee.

That Tennessee connection makes this move poetic.

As a third round pick in 2023, he lit it up there with over 3,000 passing yards, 27 touchdowns,

and just two picks.

In his final season, plus solid rushing numbers.

Hooker now backs up Young Cam Ward for the Titans, returning to where he thrived.

Meanwhile, the Jets eye their back-up options, possibly looping Taylor back in if the fit

feels right.
