Highway Blockade Lifts in Nova Scotia

It's April 3rd. Welcome in. This is Canada News Today, where local news meets AI.
Highway 4 in Nova Scotia's Potlotec First Nation is back open this morning after First Nation's
protesters blocked it over an RCMP raid on a local cannabis shop. RCMP hit the shop Thursday
morning, arrested two men and grabbed a bunch of cannabis products, sparking the quit blockade
on that Cape Breton route. This fits into a long-running clash between mic mall communities
and the provincial government, which is pushing hard against unregulated weed sales.
The province argues it's no treaty right, since only the Nova Scotia liquor corporation handles legal
sales, leaving First Nation's feeling squeezed. Out. Meanwhile, another blockade on Highway 102
near Shupanakadai cleared up Thursday evening, too. So roads are flowing smooth now, though the
underlying beef simmers on.
