On today's show, we recap the ugliness from Utah just hours ago.

We're at the scene of the crime here as the Bucks lose by 32 to the Utah Jazz.

We'll hear some thoughts from Doc Rivers in a couple of the players, some very, very sobering

and troubling numbers for the Bucks as well.

And just overall, what there a lot has been this season and the teams that they are

comping to, very different from where we thought it would be at the start of the season.

But you lose by 32 points to the Utah Jazz, to a team that is actively not trying to

win games.

Eight players out for the jazz and they were big ones.

Laurie Marketing remains out for Utah.

Youssef Nerkich out, Jaron Jackson Jr. out, Kianta George out, Walker Kessler out, Isaiah

Collier out, John Conchhorn, Bryce Sensible, both out.

What we got was eight players total for the Utah Jazz, they played in this game.

One night removed from playing, they were on night two of a back to back.

They went eight deep and they beat you by 32 points in a game without eights of their

nine leading scores.

One of those players, one of those eight that played has been on the team for a week

on a 10 day contract and he nearly recorded a triple double.

Four players set new career highs and went scored.

That's why we started this show saying, apparently there's no bottom here because earlier

in the week, you know, we talked about the moral victories component in that, hey, the

good news is they're losing games, but they're competitive.

It's a good trend for the box, right?

We can accept losing.

I think most fans want them to lose for the remainder of the season here, but just be competitive

and we saw that against the calves.

We saw that against the Phoenix Suns.

Like, great, if this is what we have in store for us, perfect.

I can live with that at least the blowouts are done.

And then comes a game in Utah against that version of the jazz and you lose by 32 points.

I mentioned there are some sobering numbers here.

This was the fourth loss by 30 or more points this season for the books or of them or

times you've lost by 30 or more points.

That is the most franchise history tie the most in franchise history.

This was your ninth loss by 25 or more points this season that you already have the franchise

record there at eight or had it at eight.

Now you're just padding the lead, the 14th loss by 20 or more points that ties a franchise

record.

It's the third most in the league this season.

And I said, there's a lot of names in the company that you're keeping is not where

we expected this team to be not where your expectations longed up coming into the season.

And it tells a very, very different story about where this team is this year where it's

headed.

I've said many times.

Look, these numbers I just told you, it just tells a fraction of the story.

And what is going to go down is one of the five worst seasons in franchise history.

It is without question one of the five most disappointing seasons in franchise history.

And by the numbers, this is going to be one of your four seasons.

All those numbers we rattled off of the blowouts that the bucks have suffered here.

The fact that you have moved past a season that saw you 67 games or excuse me, season that

saw you lose 67 games.

That should tell you a lot about where this team has been this season and the type of team

that this team actually is, point differential, right?

Every single number that we pull up, it's not good.

They're 27th right now in net rating, 26th, I beg your pardon, 26th in net rating, point

differential for this team, right?

If we just look at that, I don't love citing points per game as how's your offense performing

or opponent points per game of, oh, look at this stingy defense here.

I think efficiency is much more important, but point differential.

You know what?

Why not?

Let's use it to tell the story here minus five point four.

That is a full point worse than the Chicago bulls who we said weeks ago have given up

on the season, have quit.

Only three teams are worse than you in point differential.

The Indian users at minus 8.9, season from hellpacers with Tyrese, Alabama, the other

injuries that have happened along the way, minus 8.9.

So they've almost doubled you up, same with the Brooklyn nets, minus 9.3.

The wizards have doubled you up at minus 11.2, but you know what?

That's the company you're in, right?

And then you got the jazz and the kings out west.

Those are the teams that we're looking at that the books are in the company.

Jazz Pacers, nets, kings and wizards are the only teams worse than you in that rating.

Every single number you want to look up here, it tells you, yeah, I mean, this team is

really one of the five worst teams in the league.

And I guess we've been blind to it this whole season.

I said this to someone a last week, week or so ago.

And I didn't realize it would hold even more true today than it did back then.

And that is the analogy in the comp for this team.

And if you're a movie fan, we're a week moved from skurs.

So I should have really saved, I should have sped this up and gotten to it last week.

But you know the comp for the box this season, if we're using film, it's the sixth tense.

And the books are Bruce Willis where it took us this long all the way until the end of

the film to realize, oh, wait, we're one of the five worst teams were not this, yeah,

but as soon as we get healthy and as soon as we push towards the playoffs, yeah, as soon

as we get young as bad, yeah, as soon as he gets to chemistry with with Ryan Rounds

and KPJ, yeah, as soon as our schedule breaks, like maybe we're not going to be fifth or

fourth or sixth or whatever we hope that, but we'll at least be a playoff team.

And who's going to want to play the bucks in the first round?

Who's going to want to catch this play in tournament team that heats up?

No, it turns out you're actually dead the whole time.

This team was actually one of the five worst teams in the league, the entire time.

The comments from divers, Bobby Portis and Cam Thomas that really paint the picture for

an ugly loss in Utah to the jazz.

We'll get into that and try to take a look ahead to what's next for this team.

The tragic number update for the bucks and some more interesting changes that continue

to happen along the way in the standings as there's one other thing to be aware of.

All right, after the game, we heard from a couple of players, Bobby Portis, Cam Thomas,

Cam Thomas didn't have much to say.

As we finally saw, Cam Thomas, you know, back on the floor after what a two game absence

of DNPs, but Cam Thomas summed it up basically that, yeah, we just got off to a pretty rough

start and never recover.

Yeah, so we didn't start off with it, we played harder, getting up and down, making

shots.

And they just had the moment for the good go and we didn't answer to it.

So it was just best start and they heard us in the end.

Yeah, I mean, not much to push back on there as the bucks outscored by 11 in the first

quarter.

Mine, right?

I mean, we mentioned eight players out for the jazz only eight players available.

One of them is a 10 day contract.

The eight of their nine leading scores out and still you open the game down by 11 in the

opening quarter.

Okay.

Fine.

Everybody's permitted a slow start.

Just how do you rebound?

Oh, down by nine in the second quarter outscored by nine.

I should say, so you're down by 20 at the half, you're down by 21 going into the fourth

and then you're outscored by 11 in that fourth quarter.

So they lost every single quarter and three of the four, they lost badly.

It's been quite a year, you know, a lot of turbulence taking on a lot of water on this

ship.

As you guys have all experienced day by day and it's something that Bobby Portis is cognizant

up as well.

The road just didn't lose any game this year has been a rollercoaster of a year for us.

You know, a lot of, you know, things that kind of took away from the team, a lot of outside

rumors and injuries and just a lot for us this year to intake, but, you know, we're still

in the fight.

Still out here burning and fighting every day, so not laying down is what it is.

13 and 11 this season, you know, it's trying to build off of it and give fourth to get

effort every time we out there.

Obviously today was super disappointing and like you probably, like you probably didn't

ever want to lose a game like that, right?

But, you know, we play every other day, the rest of the year.

So, you know, it's plenty of opportunities to go out there and, you know, keep guys locked

in, you know, just keep building, like I said, man, it's been a up and down year, like

going on, but I'm in the fight, though, so I ain't laying down.

Okay.

There's a couple of things from that that I think are very pertinent from Bobby Portis.

You don't want to lose a game like this, but I would phrase that as you don't want to

lose a game like this again, you know, obviously you don't want it to happen again in the final

13 games, but for the bucks, it has happened again and again and again and again, four times

by 32, by 30 or more points, four of them, nine by 25 or more, 14 by 20 or more.

These are all franchise records.

And this was, by the way, the 12th game this season, they scored 100 less than 100 points.

That's the third most in the league in an offensive era of basketball.

But the other thing that Bobby got to and we, well, we play every other day so we can

get back at it.

And you know what?

We've heard that a lot.

And ordinarily, I would say, yeah, all right, fine.

Put this one behind you.

Burn the tape game and I'll spawn.

But the fact that we have to continue having that conversation, it's like what's the

different definition of insanity, right?

But we heard twice in that cut a lot of stuff going on outside rumors and it's been a roller

coaster year.

It's apparent this all started early in the season, you know, even when they were four

and one and that think about that five games into the season was the high point for this

team.

It quickly started to fade and eventually it crumbled and it was a lot.

It was, you know, Yana's not at media day because he had COVID, Yana's pushing back on

and disputing some of the words from ownership over a meeting with him, the outside noises

that Bobby referred to and having to constantly hear about rumors.

And look, you can say, Sham Sharani is full of crap and we've already gone through this

and we've bunked this, this, you know, all right, fine.

But you know, who could also end this really quickly?

He did it.

And I think when you hear Bobby Portis mention that, it's a cloud that hangs over this

team to constantly wonder, think about the week of the trade deadline when we heard

guys, like, yeah, I've had that conversation with my teammates from Yana's or I've had

conversations with my teammates.

And if they've asked, I've told them, but all of those guys, and we've talked about players

on one, one year deals with a one plus one who have to wonder, am I going to be traded?

Is this guy going to be here next year?

What do I want to do with my player option?

What's going to happen with this team?

What's the future of it?

And I think you've just kind of seen all of this culminate that stuff beyond the court

performance in the, the, the, the frankly lack of an identity and what feels like a game

plan and the fact that we have to constantly talk about the same statistical areas that

this team is getting their butts kicked in.

You shot attempts and overall possessions that they're getting steals on both ends of

the floor.

That's a part of your possessions, but they're turned the ball over a ton.

They're not forcing turnovers.

It's not rocket science.

If you give the opponent more chances to score, they're going to beat you.

And in those few instances where we see it, okay, let's embrace offensive rebounding.

Let's protect the basketball.

Guess what?

The bucks.

If they don't win, they're very competitive.

It's been a lot.

And I think you're starting to see it really start to weigh on these guys.

But this type of performance, you know, I'm never going to call out or question the effort

of a player because we don't know.

This is tough to take and not say, boy, it feels like it's, there's a lot that's fractured

there with this group and the overall makeup to lose by 32 points to the Utah Jazz.

And again, to hear in that cut, two times body port is talking about outside noises and

everything else that was kind of over this team that's made it a roller coaster of

a season.

Doc Rivers had some thoughts as well on this one.

And I mentioned, you know, we don't want to hear, but we got a chance back on the horse

and fix this after two games or two days.

We play every other day.

And that's the beauty of basketball, right?

Like you can only say that so many times when this is the result over and over and over.

So, um, if you're opposed to that, I think you're going to find Doc Rivers post a very,

very interesting.

So we'll get to that coming up next.

dock rivers to say, oh, I'll cut them some slack there, but dock rivers and his

thoughts on the one.

We played awful.

Didn't have any competitive spirit tonight.

I thought the first group said to tell them I thought the first group came in, everyone

on the team know that group was trying to score.

So funny.

We had a shoot around the day where ball was moving everything was second action.

This is six times the guy was supposed to go to kept it and you know, at the end of

the day, that's on me to get on the play ride.

Just for you guys, there's still 13 games left in the season that's a lot of basketball

and so on.

Just for basketball.

Just for you guys, what kind of needs to change it?

I don't know.

I've met over doing one game.

Honestly, I thought we played great against Cleveland, thought we competed against Atlanta.

So I'm not going to overdo this game.

But this was the game you really wanted to win on the throw trip.

They took out everybody to help us, you know, and we still didn't take advantage of it.

So, the film will be interesting tomorrow.

Can't have him playing for a couple of minutes, yeah, it's just, what do you see for

him in place?

The first half, he was great.

Then the second half, you know, got stagnant, still defensively, you know, there's some

problems there.

Can't be the tough one because he's played on teams that he was the only score and

on our team because we have other scores, the ball still has to move.

I thought he did a great job of facilitating in the first half.

You know, the turnovers, miles, turnovers, turnovers, those are big concern to me.

You mentioned just, like, it's on you to do that.

So what can you do in the next off day, conclude the Phoenix that you think they find the best?

We'll see, you know, Phoenix is playing for their life.

So we better be right.

I think in situations like this, it's easier for the young guys, maybe to understand

that like, oh, I'm like for a next contractor, but that's on you.

This is a tough one, but this is, you know, you'll find out who the winners are.

You'll find out who the keepers are.

You will.

Like Bobby was phenomenal the night.

Bobby had the right spirit.

He let's, Bobby played well, but let's, if Bobby had not played well, he still played

with the right spirit.

That tells you a lot about when you're trying to build a team.

Hey, coach, stock rivers after the loss by 32 to the Utah Jazz.

And again, acknowledge they played terribly.

And you heard again, I think part of why we've had whatever it was, two games without

seeing Cam Thomas on the floor and getting into the DNP's was he very bluntly and

candidly said, yeah, it was fine in the first half.

Then it kind of became struggles where the offense got stagnant from Cam in the second

half.

And the defense remains in issue.

But the one thing I think it would be fair to push back on.

And maybe I'm sure a lot of you will roll your eyes at a two was, you know, what, the second

thing that we heard from Doc, where the, the answer was what essentially, we're not

going to over-react to one loss, you know, is it a burn the tape and move forward type

of game?

Yeah, we're not there yet.

We're not going to overreact to one game on an 82 game schedule, which ordinarily, yes,

I would agree.

That is a mindset to take.

This is not one.

You know, we just gave you the amount of times that this team has lost by 30 or more

points that this team has lost by 20 or more points that this team has lost by 25 or

more points.

It is not an isolated incident that we're talking about here.

It hasn't slowed down, you know, like the old, the old line and the old joke of the beatings

will continue until morale improves.

It does very much feel like that's where we're at for the remainder of the season for this

box team.

And now you head into the toughest part of this road trip, which by the way, the bugs have

not been good on the road and look, for that matter, the bugs have not been good at home

either.

They are almost guaranteed to finish the season with a losing record inside a five-room

for the first, the history of that building.

Your next three on the road are the teams that are 7, 8, 9 in the Western Conference

playoffs.

It's not going to get any easier.

This one was basically gift-wrapped to you with the players that were out.

And we've heard a lot of that.

We've heard a lot of the same from the players from Doc Rivers throughout the course of the

season and nothing has changed.

And that's why again, we mentioned the numbers and how ugly it's been where you currently

sit, not only in the standings, but statistically those teams that you are lumped in with, you

by the numbers are one of the five worst teams in the league this season.

It means with the expectations, Camille and I talked about this the other day, coming

into the season, whether or not you thought the bugs were actually going to be 7th or 6th

or 5th, whatever, no one thought you were going to be this.

Not just potentially what, 11th, 12th, potentially 12th overall in the East at best, because

a lot has started to transpire here these past couple of games.

It's a recent point where, yeah, maybe you could actually get to the 7th best odds in

the draft.

None of us envisioned that.

And when that happens and when the expectations were what they were and your fast track to

50 losses this season, it means there will be a lot of change in the off season here.

Now as we wrap here, I mentioned that some things have started to transpire here and change

a little bit in the standing to make it at the least extremely interesting down the stretch.

So what is that?

Well, your tragic number is now six, meaning any combination of bucks, losses and hornets

wins that total up to six, that's when you're done.

We could be looking at a tragic number of two after Monday, because the next two games

for the books on the road in Phoenix on Saturday, on the road in Inglewood against the Clippers

on Monday, those two teams that are fighting for their playoff lives, Phoenix can still

get out of the plan tournament though it's three games that separate them now, but they're

also right there in that mix with the Clippers and the Blazers.

Clippers and the Blazers are trying to make sure they get up to the eighth spot.

So they're fighting for that.

Those are the next three teams on your schedule, but the next two, the sons and the Clippers.

The next two for the hornets are the Grizzlies and the Kings, right?

Meaning by the time each of these two teams get through those games.

It keeps saying you're not officially eliminated yet.

Well, the hornets play the Kings on Tuesday.

So they go into New York or they go into a game with New York one week from when I record

this.

Actually, it's Friday morning now, six days from Thursday.

You could reach the point Tuesday night that that tragic numbers down to two and then

we're looking at, okay, Thursday, Thursday, March 26th is when the bucks could be officially

eliminated at worst.

It is probably going to be Saturday, the 28th, because the bucks play Wednesday.

They're off then until Saturday and even if the hornets lose to the next, they got the

banged up sixers, although Paul George will be back, but they got the banged up sixers

on Saturday.

So we're likely looking at next Saturday, one week from tomorrow's when the bucks are

officially done, eliminated from the postseason, really quickly here.

There is a pad for the bucks to now suddenly reach, you know, I suppose the sixth best

odds are on the board, but realistically, seventh best odds for draft lottery more than

likely eight.

But guess what, one of the teams that's moving in the other direction is the New Orleans

Pelicans who again have no incentive to lose.

They're still losses behind, but they've gone six and four in their last 10, they won

seven straight at home.

And with the way the season has gone, wouldn't it be fitting for the bucks to continue to

sink and get down to let's say number seven, seventh best odds in the draft lottery.

That's going to come at the expense of the New Orleans Pelicans.

So the reality is you're going to end up draft in 10th after all, but it's going to be

the pick from New Orleans, and you're just fast tracking and improving the chances of

the Atlanta Hawks to have a top four pick.

I mean, it's becoming increasingly impossible to find the silver lining anywhere.

That's what we've come to now on this very, very disappointing season for the bucks.

So not a fun one to do today.

But I thought we were done with these apparently, we're not.

So hopefully we don't have any more of these, the rest of the way and you can at least get

back to competitive losses for the bucks Saturday night, the Phoenix Suns.

I throw up a quick preview of that one.
