Podcast on KMBZ. Why are you still here? Your shift has ended, Michael Mackie. Your duties have ended. Your services have been performed. But there's spillover and I didn't want to leave. You're referring to yourself as spillover. I'm spillover. You are spillover. There's spillover. So I wanted to just hang out with you nerds because I know. Number one, I hope it rains today. And number two, I can't stop watching tennis. How are you? You are watching tennis out of the corner your eye. And by out of the corner your eye, I mean, you are not looking at me at all. You're full on watching tennis. Tell you, why do they insist on putting these matches during the day? Well, they don't. They play them at night too late at night. Three in the morning, Michael, I tried to stay up. I made it to about 11 p.m. watching that sexy spaniard. Which one? He was a sexy spaniard. Versing our American. Yeah, it looks like Alcatraz. Look, versus our American player. I fell asleep with the TV on around 1130 thinking, oh, how long can this go on?

The answer is 3 a.m. It went on until 3 a.m. He's the one who likes to just gratuitously for no reason, lift his shirt up and wipe his brow and. Tiss is a sweat adventure. Here's everyone a free free show. It's thirst trap on the court. Now, you're supposed to be watching the play on the court, Michael. No, I'm not. I'm not. But Sam, I don't do you know who we obsess about? We I should not say that backtrack. I obsess over the 15 year old ball boys and ball girls who are supposed to remember when we were in elementary school, you would play that game tree and you would just freeze. You'd have to be like a tree. Do you watch the 15 year old ball boys and ball girl trying so hard to blend in to the back of the mat? They try so hard. And then when they offer up a tennis ball to one of the pros, do not look them in the eye. Do not look that pro in the eye. They stand there frozen. You got to see it to believe it with two balls in the hand. Like deer in headlights terrified.

And so I look this up last night, thousands of children vie every year to be there. They're one of the only people that's not a pro or a coach allowed on the court. And it's like I've never seen you so excited. You're standing. You are in defensive position showing how how quiet I would I would be a horrible ball retrieval. Yes, you were. Yes, you were. You were like, hello, you sexy spaniard. What are you doing? You're a ball. You're a ball right here. OK, sometimes they pose like a tree and sometimes they trip and face plant into the metal wall. And sometimes they faint. And they're faint. They are not allowed breaks. Sam, can you get the video off YouTube? Yeah. Oh, God, that poor child. So he goes and he throws like four balls at the player. Whoever I have no idea who these people are. And he's looking at one. He doesn't like it for whatever. There must have been a scuff. No, the pros look at him and throw him back if they don't want that ball. And they bat him back or hit him, racket them back or whatever you call it.

And this poor kid ends up with two balls. Too many. And then runs to the back wall. The problem is that this pro tennis players get ready to serve. And the kid face plants into the wall. Face plant. Listen, you can hear it. Yes. Ball one, ball two. Oh, that was so quiet. Oh, that was, yeah, that's the one we watched. That's the one we watched. Bam! A damn. A damn. Just like I'm so sorry someone helped that poor child. It was like a Batman sound effect. And I'm like, I'm so glad that kid face planted into the wall. Finally, this game is interesting to me. You are not allowed to say that because I have come around to watching soccer. And I am here to tell you. Not because of me. It's Scott. It is so exciting. And we watched the women. We watched the men. I don't understand the coaches are now all wearing ball caps that say things like farmer's

dog food. And we were talking about this. You might know Michael. How much are they being paid? All of the money. To sit there wearing matching ball caps that say farmer's dog. That's it. That's it. And the other day, some of the coach all wearing Carvana. Do you honestly think any of those people have ever purchased a car from a vending machine? They might get the farmer's dog because that's expensive. Do you think it's like $100,000? Easily. To sit just you're going to be sitting there anyway. Yeah. Watching your player that you coach here put on a hat that says data and parks, whatever. Just throwing that out. Just happy to find out that the coaches were actually the ones getting paid. I would have assumed that US tennis would have taken in all that money. No, no, no, no. These are all side. I read, I did a deep dive. They're all side deal. They're side gigs. Speaking of side gig, why are you here? But I'm so happy you are because it was a year ago this week. A year ago today. Today that you have four minutes was released.

Oh, it's the anniversary congratulations. Well, today the audio book comes out starring one Dana Wright and Michael Mack. Stop it. Am I prominently displayed? Have you seen your names are prominently displayed on Audible on Amazon? Stop it. Yes. I had so much fun reading that and by the way, Scott and I am not even mildly kidding. I almost did the entire thing in one take. We re-did one of the sentences and I was like, I can stick around and do more. You liked it. I haven't heard it. I don't. Forward. By Cindy Wilson of the B-52s. Red. By Dana Wright. On Valentine's Day, 1977, my life changed forever. That was the night my brother and I and three other deadbeats performed for the very first time, simply for the fun of amusing ourselves and a living room full of friends who had all gathered for a birthday party. The whole thing had started five months earlier after a round of exotic drinks at a local

Chinese restaurant. That led to a wild, slightly inebriated jam session. It was such a hoot that we decided to do it at the upcoming party. Having a name, we called ourselves the B-52s. If someone had told me that at that party, I would launch a long career in music and also meet my future husband, another story altogether. I would have asked them what they were smoking and did they have any more of it. But the band took flight and after almost five decades, we're still doing it, spreading danceable fun far and wide. Throughout my years as a performer, I've been interviewed more times than I can count. One thing that I'm good at is definitely Dana's voice. What's weird is I'm reading as if I am sendate from the B-52s, which I am not. Does she talk like that? No. But Dana did try to do with a subtle Southern accent and I went, no. Can I scream 10 roof rusted at the end?

No. And then we have a clip from Radio God God. You guys have your own chapter. Let me hear it. Ten years ago, the show was an up-and-coming success story. From day one, it was this intoxicating blend of pop culture, water cooler fair and local newsy stories that typically had folks in a dither. Then the show took off. I mean, we are talking stratus-theoric ratings. The weirdly chaotic chemistry and ping-pong banter between Dana and Parks was infectious. Everyone religiously started tuning in. Talk about birds of a feather. She's like a lunatic magpie chattering away and cackling. He's like a crabby, Sam eagle from the Muppets. Kindly aware, astute and not going to take crap from anyone. Thus when Parks foolishly asked me to sub for Dana, I was immediately intimidated. I'm not intimidating. Parks yielded me when I announced my hesitation.

During my initial appearance on the show, I couldn't get a word in edgewise. I stammered, I stuttered. Okay. Yeah, but a complete sentence, and that wasn't in the cards. This is so close. This is approximately 20 minutes of me meekly talking into the microphone. Scott lambasted me during the show's first commercial break. Look, Mackie, I brought you in here to talk and you've done anything but he said with a lock jaw. So chime in or else, I mean it. Either start talking or get out. That's a true story. You are mean. That is a true story. Well, I think I embellished a little bit for the audiobook, but that is a true story. Well, that was a tiny bit of dramatic, but he did yell at me and I wanted to beat him to death with the microphone. I didn't even know him. That's when you and I were besties. Oh, I love him. And I was just randomly filling in. Happy one year. That is amazing. Thank you. What is one year diamond? I don't know, maybe. I believe it's wood. But I'm so okay. High five. Yes, it's the high five anniversary.

Tis the high five. And where can people find your audiobook? The audiobook that just came out today is on Audible and Amazon and soon on Apple. And I'm so excited. Thank you guys for having me. Congratulations. You really didn't have a choice. I was going to be in here whether you like me. If we know, get out. Get out. We love you. He'll be back tomorrow at 10 o'clock. Love you. And KMBZ. Hiya! It's hump day. The NFL starts tonight. Oh, yes it does. Oh yeah. Hump day. You're love this, my son. My son, who was it? Someone in my life yesterday says there is a new sort of sports. What do you call it when you pick players? The fantasy draft league, right? Yeah. They are in a new league, you guys, that I can get behind. I don't understand. I don't think I would do well in a traditional fantasy football. Pick your player week to week league. I just, it's not my thing. I think you're right there. Their new league's got you pick one team in almost every sport and it goes year round. There's a draft, okay? So follow me here. You pick NFL. You get an NFL pick. You get an NFL player or team? Team. You get a college pick. You get college basketball. You get NBA. Hockey is in there. I don't either, but you know what they were saying to me the other night?

They said it makes sports that you otherwise would not necessarily watch. It gives you something to do in the law between your favorite sport. You get an MLB team like all that stuff. And I thought, you know what that's something I could do? Who would you rent a belt team big? I would make the chiefs. That was enjoyable. It was enjoyable. A year round all sport. Yep. Survivor league of sports. That's what it is. Okay. Interesting. And who would your major league baseball team be? Well, I would, I like to pick with my heart. So what you're saying is you have no intention of winning. So sad to see they lost last night. It was so close. We have switched over to tennis. I'm in my tennis era now. Yeah. But yeah, I mean, are they statistically eliminated? No. You know, I think there's the which tells you how bad the American. Yes, right? They just keep hanging on. They're not hanging on by much. I believe it's a point one percent chance of making the playoffs.

Well, and I think hanging on would indicate that they're winning enough games to stay in contention. Yeah. The bar just keeps getting lower. So he gave me the number last night. And if you want, I'll share it with you. We would have to win the next 18 games. And I think we get to lose one. What do you think the odds of that? And all of the other teams would have to lose some. So you know what? Keep cheering for them. They have to win 18. I think there's like 20 left. They have to win an overwhelming majority of what's left. I think I will spend my Tuesday nights watching Ted Lasso, which was awesome last night. Oh, man, they hit it out of the park. I felt like. Why are people poo-pooing this? I felt like the whole season quite frankly was really forced. The jokes felt forced. The dialogue felt forced. I don't know what it was. It was almost like they should have closed the book after three seasons and let it go. Last night, they hit their stride again. It's incredible. And it wasn't the final episode was it? No, it's like episode five or six. Six was last night. I think there's going to be at least four more.

If season two, they threw in two extra. So there could be up to six more. Which by the way, those two extras that they put in the middle, the Christmas episode and something else were the worst. I know, but like it's lost episode. Yeah. Well, that was art apparently that I did not understand. Right. I will tell you the, the choices that we have of what to watch are so overwhelming that I think the one thing we can all agree on with Ted Lasso is not only do we support that because it's Jason Cedacus, but we support that because it's good. At the end of the night when you watch that, you feel good. I agree. I dare you to say that after watching cable television news or I murdered my fill in the blank. All of the murder attainment that's out there. You know, we don't watch the news at night. No, no, I don't either. We should celebrate it because it's good. Yeah. And last night, I'll just say this about episode six, not going to spoil anything. The final scene of episode six was like, wow, did it get you in the fields?

No. Okay. It was a wow. It was a page turner. Okay. Okay. So you can't wait for episode seven now. What did a cliff hanger? Yes, it was. It was a turn of a character from the previous seasons that will just have you rolling on the floor. Well, you can say who it is. It's on like all over the internet. It's Jamie Tart. Yeah, Jamie Tart comes back, but how he comes back. Yeah. Oh my God. Good because I've missed him. We also have a programming update for all of you long time Dana and Park's listeners in what amounted to the dumbest 30 seconds of our lives. So many of you have been asking and you calling on Festivus Friday and you say, why can't you update what you say at the beginning and the end of the podcast? Because many years ago, I just went, hey, you're listening to the day in Park's podcast. Thanks for tuning in. And you know, that did probably not quite hit the mark. It was like the Christmas episode of Ted Lasso. You know, you got to spy. And so I'm back there in the studio today. I came in early to work today, which never happens. Went to the back of the studio and I popped my head out and I said, hey, why don't you guys

come back here and we will give the people what they have asked for. We will finally update that thing and we did. It took 28 seconds of our lives. Sam, can you play a little bit? You're listening to the Dana and Park's podcast on KMBZ. Sam, you sound a little nasally. Oh, I am very nasal. We're going to have to redo it again. Now, once my nose clears up, no, I like it. And then here's the outro. And buds. Thanks for listening to the Dana. And parks podcast on KMBZ catches online anytime on KMBZ.com or get the podcasts wherever you get your podcast. Was that so hard? No, I just had to say and parks both times. It's very simple. You sound incredibly bored. And I told you I told him to sound board. He rocked it. Thank you. Yeah. New iPhone is coming out. It is foldable. The first foldable iPhone ever, it's called the iPhone Duo fold, it's open like a book.

Would you care to guess? By the way, the screen is going to be 80% larger than the latest iPhone Pro. Basically a smaller iPad that happens to fold in half. Why? Why? Is there a seam? I don't understand. You know what we fold books? You know what we don't fold? Fones. Yep. Sam, go ahead. Do you want the answer for why? Because they can. Because the Android, the LG, the Motorola Samsung, they all have folding. They came out with the folding phone seven years ago. Do you know anyone with a folding phone? I knew a couple of people when they first dropped. Couple. Seven years ago. And I got to see one. Granted, they worked in a dirty industry. So there was a lot of dirt around their phone, but they opened that screen up and what it was supposed to be a perfectly clear square screen had a line right down the middle of dirt and gung. It's going to look like the cup holder in my car. And what makes even less sense to me and part of the reason why they're doing this and

why Android did it initially was because of everybody's push for the Motorola Razor, the phones of old, right? But you can't slam a smartphone folding phone. The whole reason that the flip phone was satisfying is because if somebody made you mad, you could hear the sound of the plastic hitting itself as you gave them the FU button, saying we're done with this conversation. You do that with your glass screen and it's going to shatter. You can't slam it shut. By the way, the foldable Android is one of their least selling models. It's only a fraction of their sales. Would you care to guess what the new iPhone is going to cost minimum? For grand or something stupid? Two thousand dollars. No. I am, I like nice things. You know that. I'm not a clothing shopper. I'm not like, but I don't, you know, I like design things. I have never been a person that feels some need to run out and get the new phone because usually the only update is we've added another camera.

Well, I, which by the way, they had in the pipeline the year before, before the year before that. We're going to add another camera. Now there are apparently three cameras on the back of an iPhone. Mine still has one. Mine's always dirty. I don't know. Is that two? Well, no, you might have three. Yeah. I don't know. Mine has the three camera lens as well. I don't even know what they do. Do you know how to pick between the three? I don't even know what they do. I pulled the camera out. I zoomed where I want to zoom and I clicked the button and man, it's super clear, but ridiculous. The saddest part about this is, and Scott, I mentioned this to you out in the newsroom, no matter what price they charge, no matter how dumb the upgrade is, there will be a line around the building at every Apple store in the country when that thing drops. Because fools and their money are easily parted. I still have an iPhone eight, an eight, which came out a decade ago. I don't know if that's a bragging point, but I'm proud of you.

Well, just like with my blackberry, I'm going to, I'm going to keep it until it dies. What, what other product outside of the cell phone can you think of where the next new big thing comes out and everyone stands in line to get it? Because we, I don't know why with this particular product, we all do that. We don't do it with a laptop and that's about the same price. When was the last time you saw a line wrapped around like a best buy because a new laptop was coming out? It doesn't work with any other product, but the phone I don't understand why. It would work and this is a horrible example. Like when a professional sports franchise is offering up their season tickets for the first time. Okay. People will line up for those things, but when you're talking about a physical, hold it in your hand, use it product. I can't think of one. I mean, back in the day, concert tickets, but not in 2026. Well, I mean, they do in a sense on how they wait in the queue online or whatever. Right. And still today, like Jackson County can get in line first for chiefs tickets for now. And people will still do that.

I don't know if they have to stand in a physical line anymore, but they used to, they used to have to go out to Arrowhead and get in line. Great. A couple of great points from the text line and all of these are cult like situations. Apple is a cult like situation. I know I'm a Samsung guy. It just is. I don't know why Starbucks when they release a new tumbler. Okay. Whatever reason people feel the need to line up around the block. Okay. I did. Well, I did like that's a good example. I did like the Kansas City coffee mug every member, every city got a mug. There was a Chicago mug. I didn't stand in line to get one, but I remember thinking that kind of be cool to have. Game consoles. Not so much anymore, but that used to be a big one. I waited in line multiple times at midnight for a different call of duties that came out. Is it call of duties or calls of duty? I think because it's the name of a game, it would be call of duties, but I hear your point grammatically. It should be calls of duty. What about when GTA 6 comes out? It's never happening.

Oh, um, Pokemon cards. Do people get in line for that? Oh, yeah. Do they really? Did I tell you I saw those random dudes at Walmart over like perusing that aisle. I'm like, what are these guys doing? They've been released from their mom's basement. I don't know. I thought it was fairy odd, but it's a thing. Scott. Okay. 913-586-779-8586-779-8. Here on Damon Parks. Story from the New York Post, a serial pooper is on the loose in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Brentwood. Video shows the woman openly squatting on video. Oh, there's video. Do not go away. You will get results. Show the woman openly squatting on a sidewalk at the corner of Gossian and barrington avenues. These are in front of like bajillion dollar home, Scott. As Walker stroll by, she's also seen weeping.

Because she doesn't have a toilet apparently. Traumatized residents. Traumatized residents. Tell Fox 11, the woman has been using the neighborhood as her personal toilet for years. Oh, come on. With one resident saying they see it quote, every morning and they say it is getting worse. Okay. And then someone like that because this is a mental health issue. Probably have them committed. Where would one do that? Where would one do that? I don't know. This is always the problem with these stories. Quoting here from one neighbor, Wendy Kush. She was walking her young, not toosh. Does she own a dispensary? Sorry. Sorry. Said that the woman was squatting one morning. She was walking her daughter and her dogs. And the woman, the pooper. Started yelling at her that she was going to kill me and started lunging at me. So, so look, all, you know, those jokes are easy and juvenile and write themselves. What do you do with a situation like that?

Scott, you can't, is that illegal behavior? I would assume so, right? It's disgusting. It's vile. What do you do? You could put her in jail. The sheriff's offices are going to say we're not equipped to handle a serial pooper. They're not, they're not a mental health services. How do you force mental health services or medications on somebody who doesn't want it? And who pays for it? She is an adult, right? Who pays for it? I don't know. I don't know like that the answer is even bringing back the institutions that were shuttered in what the 80s. Who, who are homeless populations, skyrocketed when they shuttered those? They did. And now we all have the constant conversation of, is it homelessness or is it mental health problems? I see the, I see the same man with a like push cart for lack of a better word, filled to the brim with stuff, walking back and forth around the station almost, it's definitely weekly if it's not every day.

And I often wonder like what is that a veteran? Does he need help? What, you know, was he, is he an addict or both or, you know, what happened in his life that led him to this point, right? But he, I don't understand what you do or how to fix it. I have said this a thousand times on this program. This is the unsolvable problem of America. How do other countries handle this? Institutions. Mm-hmm. Or they just don't report about it. The only reason this is a news story is because it's happening in a very nice neighborhood around a million dollar homes. This is not the first individual to drop their pants and go number two in the middle of a crowded area. It happens all the time. It happens to you. A couple years ago. Well, but see, we knew about that because it happened in Leewood. I'll tell you this. I think I was on vacation with this happen. So a couple of weeks ago, someone posted a photo on Facebook walking by somewhere where it was like bridge adjacent in Kansas City.

And they tagged the city. They tagged the mayor and they said this is disgusting. Someone needs to do something. We walk by this every day. Look at the trash. Look at the Narcan. Very little shocks me anymore. After all the years that we've been in this business, Scott, there's very little where you're like, oh my God. And it was one of those photos where you zoom in under this bridge. There were probably six or seven bodies. Human beings. Oh, you showed me this picture. Yes. Oh my gosh. Sam, in various levels of passed out, uh, or sleep, we don't know. Or asleep or clearly massive issues in their lives. Some of them had clothing that was not covering appropriate areas of their body. And the, I don't think the person was a bad person or a mean person for posting it. They were literally like, this is not okay. This is the United States of America. This is near a park.

What are we doing here? Scott, I don't know. You look at it and you go, oh my God. Wow. And then most of us, you avert your eyes and you move on with your day. I thank God. It's not you. You know, but, but what is the solution? What is the answer to this problem, whether it's somebody in Brentwood and Sam's right? The only reason this story is getting any legs and ends up in a New York tabloid is because it happened in a neighborhood where really rich people live. Now, I don't see homeless people defecating on the sidewalk every single day, but I live in Waldo. I see homeless people sleeping on the sidewalk every single day. On the sidewalk? On the sidewalk, on the bench in front of a business. This is why they removed some of the benches. You remember that and it was controversial. They removed benches at some of the bus stops and replaced them with a leaning pole. They took them all out downtown. Or a bench that had a bunch of arm rests all the way across it so you couldn't lay down

on it. And then, the way the park near my house, they have figured out how to remove those arm rests. Oh, really? Yes, the arm rests are on the ground next to the benches and they are asleep on the bench. They never cause a problem. I walk by them every single morning. And are they passed out? There are some are asleep, some are just sitting there and watching the sun come up or eating a book. They're just people living their lives. I know. I know. Well, when you get off on 20th Street downtown, like you're going to, you know, the crossroads or something with a garment district, they're under that bridge. It always ends up back in the news around December in Kansas City. When the temperatures really, the bottom falls out. It is so cold. Then we all start talking about it again and then spring rolls around and it's, it goes away. Problem doesn't go away. No, the coverage was away. And the coverage is always the same thing. There are resources available.

You can't force someone to get help. Money is not the answer. Seattle tried that. Spend $100,000 per homeless person and it didn't even make a dent. Were you here when the homeless couple outside of a fast food restaurant lost control of their dog and the dog bit, the dog bit a child and the restaurant is being sued. Because they didn't kick the homeless man and woman off the property. They were living in their car. They were living in the just park there and then a dog gets loose. So then it's in the news again because someone's gotten injured, right? It's only when temperatures are so cold, it's deadly or something goes wrong in Lawrence behind Johnny's man and a woman just trying to take a walk along the river. And guess some lunatic starts chasing them with a machete. And it's back in the news again. It's almost a problem that no administration or politician, I don't want to say they don't

want to fix it. You can't. How? You can't. Even if you really with all of your heart wanted to make that problem go away, money does not do this. We saw that in Seattle. You throw $100,000 at every man, woman and child. The problem isn't better. It's worse. That is correct. Unless you want to start putting people in mental institutions against their will. Medicaid them against their will. Well that was part of the problem why they shut down in the first place is because it became so expensive to do the actual treatment that they needed that they just started giving everybody frontal lobotomies because if you're a vegetable, you can't act out. Yeah, but you can't act. We don't want to go back to that. No, absolutely not. But I mean, we've tried money. It didn't work. There are places in Kansas City and throughout Kansas City where homeless people can go and stay or people who are not mentally healthy can go. But nobody wants it in their backyard.

Remember the proposal to put a homeless shelter over there near I-35 and I think it was 95th Street. The old La Quinta. That's right. The residents around that property lost their ever loving minds. You would too, Scott. I would. You're damn right, I would. I don't want that in my backyard. And so if I don't want it in my backyard, you're not going to want it in yours. Sam, I'm assuming you wouldn't want it in yours. No, I'm good. Then where are you going to put it in an industrial park? I don't know. Then where do they go get food unless you're going to provide it there. And you know who doesn't want it in the industrial park? The people who own businesses in the park. Oh, yeah. Someone in our family ran a trucking business many years ago and it happened to be in the West bottoms like a lot of those trucking type businesses are. And he would talk about regularly coming out and having issues with people who were

loitering. And he always told this story. He got into his car one day, heard a rustling and turned around and there was someone just sleeping in the back of his car. Oh my. And he said, buddy, you can't be in here. You have to go. So the industrial park is everywhere you decide, let's put something here to fix this. There's going to be somebody that goes, uh, uh, both mental, no. And mental health is a real problem in these United States. I don't think anybody can deny that. So the only way you can force, medicate people, and I'm not saying that we should is if you hold them against their will, but what crime have they committed being alive without a house or an apartment? They've committed no crime. Pooping in public might be a crime. What is going to say? But you can't hold somebody indefinitely just because they've pooped in public. Otherwise, every boy scout needs to be institutionalized because I pooped in public.

How you doing? We're doing well. Ah, I'm glad you're here. So, you know, a lot of people. I'm not the only exact number. So, our people are just a touchable weather app. There's tons of little history. I stop the California. There's a kind of cabin, very well known in the city. He lived underneath the bridge. He was extremely wealthy. But he loved living off the streets. He was perfectly safe. He just- people just don't want to change their country with their app. And they don't want to know what to do. Stephen, thank you for the call. He just says some people just- they're happy. Happy where they are. Because they're mentally ill.

Nobody wants to live on the streets. Maybe you'll find one wayward free soul who says, I want to live off the grid. I want to live on the streets. This is where I'm comfortable. This is where I'm happy. Fine. But I would bet if you pulled homeless people in America, 99.9% of them say they wish they were not on the street. I was running in San Diego one summer when I was out there working the fair system. And this homeless person was sitting on a bench. It was like 6.37 o'clock in the morning and they were calling me over. And of course, my first thought is, I don't have any money, dude. All I have is my watch. And he starts following me. And I'm like, okay, what's going on? And I ended up having like a 30 minute conversation with the guy. He was very wealthy. Graduate of KU, the reason he flagged me down is because I had a Kansas shirt on. And he was like, I just like to live on the beach. When you have a debit card, I have a credit card, I have a bank account with a lot of, you know, a commas in it. I just like living on the beach. When you say working the fair, you mean when you were a car.

I was slaying dip. I was in a car. Okay. You said you were a car. No, no, no. I was inside the building. The car he's actually kind of looked down on us. Those are the guys that put together the car. Carney's worked the rides and the game. The Ferris wheels that nobody should ever put their kids on. Come on over. Try your hand at the bouncy ball. Hand to the bucket game. When I was a kid, my goodness. You can do it. Everybody does it. You always just wanted your dad when I was like four or five to try like 50 times to get you the bear. The bear. Is it really? Happy national teddy bear day. Three throws for five dollars, ten for two. Get one in and get the prize. How do you think the guy who guesses your weight doesn't? Oh, they're world of fun. Really good. But they're young. I don't know how they do it, but they are good. That Charles in Kansas City. Hello. Hello. How are you doing? We're doing well. Thank you. I just wanted to comment on the fact that there are lots of places for people to go.

And I live in Old Northeast just outside of downtown. I live within walking distance of a couple of places. But if you've ever been homeless or dealt with homeless people, if they have anything, they're trying to recover their dragon rounds and bags of goods or they got a dog, you can't take any of that stuff into the shelter. You can't take it back into the shelter for your shopping cart into the shelter. So if you're a little bit above nothing, the shelters all turn you away. Now if we have in Kansas City, we have a VA village that's all tiny homes. So things like that veterans are very prone to taking on a pet, gives them some stability and stuff. But you just can't go. There are a lot of places that aren't available for you if you've got a puppy. Now you say you live in the proximity of some of these homeless shelters.

Do you ever have issues with them? I have gotten, I'm a bleeding heart in my soul, but I've gotten, you know, I just don't respond to people who are asking me for money at the gas station or whatever. But some of them I have conversations with and, you know, I've had help some guys up. You know, I have access to helping people get in. My wife used to be in social work or helping people get in the facilities, which can't help somebody get in a facility if they're desperately hanging on to something, whether it's an animal or white goods or whatever it is. It's a great point and I understand too, the shelters from a liability standpoint can't have the dogs. Can't have the dogs. Can't have alcohol, can't have drugs. And it's such a comfort, I'm sure. So, you know, that's the only friend that I have that doesn't judge me, right? Probably the only friend you have.

And that in and of itself is sad. When we come back, we have an update on the Amazon cargo plane crash. What was done and what was not done as all of those events unfolded that left to the deaths of so many people in the van on the ground. It's puzzling. I will tell you that. It's very puzzling. Okay.
