This is the Chris Carlin podcast. This is live morning Zettin on ESPN New York and streaming live on YouTube. It is an honor and a privilege to welcome on for the first time my man Keith Erzari who I was on SNY with last night debating jets and giants Keith. Welcome to the show man. How's it going? What's going on brother? How you doing? I'm doing fantastic. Listen, here's the deal man. I felt like I beat you down so badly last night in our jets and giants battle. I wanted to round to this thing just to keep it going. You know that's adorable. That's really cute. Not let's listen bro. We had a lot of fun last night at SNY for everybody who didn't get a chance to watch the TV portion of it. We got to debate who was going to have the better seasons for giants and jets. So can I can I speak freely for a second like really freely? Do you think bro? Do you think? I think that my giants quarterback argument was one of the greatest arguments of all time.
So I think I beat you badly on that one. Let me set this up real quick. So one of the questions posed to Keith and I was which quarterback do we think in New York where had the better season? I took Geno Smith. He took Jackson Dart. All right so make your case. Yeah I mean Jackson Dart he ran for almost 500 yards last year only through five and five of deceptions at 15 passing touchdowns last year. Had a better QBR than Geno Smith last year. Geno through 17 picks last year and I get it. Like Geno played for the Raiders and they are god awful and he was getting beat like crazy. The jets are going to be better than the Raiders. I just don't think that Geno is Jackson Dart. I think Jackson Dart has a chance to be something really good in this NFL in this NFL career and Geno's 36 years old is on the backside. You know what I find impressive? Five interceptions. That's almost as many.
Don't do it. No don't do the Daniel don't comparison. No don't don't don't. It's almost as many blue tent invitation for Jackson Dart. So here's my thing man. Obviously if you're asking me who I think the better quarterback will be going forward. Who will go into the better career? I would say Jackson Dart obviously showed a lot of promise last year. But the Kenerin Nicole mine is this. Your man is hurt too much. He also only played 12 games last season and I do worry about the availability of Malik neighbors and people will say well he was awesome without neighbors last year. Okay I get that. But as we see a year of film on him and defenses now have a in theory a better game plan for Jackson Dart who we know the giants don't want taking as many hits it would be who we have to have his star receiver out out there. And also all of a sudden his running back told me he contemplated retirement.
It's a number one option coming off of multiple knee surgeries. Your number two option you're running back contemplated retirement. And so I don't feel as good about his situation as I did a couple of weeks ago. And so I've got my reservations about the quarterback and the offense. What's he? Yeah. By the way I thought Aiman helped me out. Aiman McAnany on SMI helped me out a lot last night by the question for the Scataboo and the Breast Hall was. Touchdown. Who's going to find the end zone more? Yeah. And I said it to you on the air right. I'm like dude if you if you're just going to ask me who's the better running back it's Breast Hall. I think he's more talented. I think there is a chance for Breast Hall to be a like multi-time thousand yard runner in this in this league. But Scataboo if he's on the field is probably going to score 10 touchdowns. The guy is just not afraid of anything just throws his head into anything will back flip over you. Like I'll do whatever I ask to do to score a touchdowns. You ask about the offenses the giants offense projects to be better.
Now one thing that we didn't do last night and that would have crushed one of my arguments so that's why I was happy that you didn't bring it up. Is that the jets have a really easy QB schedule. They have one of the one of the bottom five like best five for quarterbacks and for Jackson Dart is the sixth hardest like SOS for quarterbacks in the NFL. So like that could be a little bit of a difficult thing for Jackson Dart and for the New York giants. I don't think the giants are going to be a better team than the jets. So that's kind of why I leaned in a little bit more with the giants players. All right. So how do we how do you feel as we sit here? Nine days shy of kickoff giants at home against the Cowboys. I'm really high on Dallas this year and it's not what people would like to do. They're going to win the Super Bowl. No, I'm not making an argument that the Cowboys could win the Super Bowl or win the NFC. What I am saying is they could win this division because we know every year Dak is healthy.
That offense is extremely good and not just they were seventh last year but they were point away from being second. So those teams above or those teams bunched up at the top were all like right within striking distance of each other. And so I know Dak is excellent with that offense. The defense just needs to be a little bit better and they come out swinging week one against the giants. I think Dallas wins the game. What say you? Yeah, you would imagine that after all this giant type I just gave you over the last three minutes. I would tell you all the giants are going to win right now. I like Dallas in that game. Like a lot of the work that I do in this field centers around betting analysis and fantasy sports and stuff like that over the last 10 years. And if I were betting this game I'm betting the Dallas Cowboys. I'm betting Dak Prescott's overs and a lot of things. I would have to look at some of the numbers for that as well. And to your point I like Dallas this year too. See I still think the Eagles are the cream of the crop in the NFC East. But I think the Dallas Cowboys like certain
things could break their way. I like to do tears. So sometimes I'll do the tears right. So you have teams that you think are going to be bottom tier and you're going to win between four and six games or three and six games. Then there's the next group that you think can win between seven to 10. And it depends on how things break for them. To me the giants are right in that spot right there. If they won seven obviously giants fans are upset and a lot of New Yorkers are upset about it. But I wouldn't be shocked. If they won 10 I also wouldn't be shocked. I think the betting number of over under seven and f wins makes a lot of sense right. Go to your the Dallas Cowboys that we're just talking about. They to me fit right in the same spot. Now I would put them on the stronger side of the seven to 10. I think they're really more to me they look like a nine win team. But I would be more surprised about them getting to 11 or 12 than them being at seven for the Dallas Cowboys. That's kind of how I would break down those tears. The NFC is just really tough to figure
out. Man there are so like commanders are probably decent too. Yeah because like we yeah and I am I guess doing this too like just like omitting Washington. And I guess it's because of what we saw last year. But it's like man like if Jay if Jayden's healthy like they should be really good. But the the NFC is just tough to figure out because like look at the North. I'm starting to come around to the Vikings like could the Vikings be a threat? And that is really predicated. It doesn't call a duty come out soon. So you gotta be careful with that Kyla Murray call a duty. I was going to say because I knew you were coming with that. That is a lot of my I don't want to say belief because I don't think they're making the playoffs or doing anything like that. But that that can be a really good team simply because of Kevin O'Connell right. And like what he tends to do with these reclamation projects according back. The South we I don't know that any of us believe in any team outside of maybe Tampa. But then there's the West right.
We're all three of the Rams who we all think could win the Super Bowl. The Nine is in the Seahawks. The NFC is just so difficult to figure out. You're going to have like a really good team just outright miss the playoffs. Yeah I mean I think you so you got the NFC West and then I mean the NFC North you you brought up the Vikings. So if the assumption is that they're the fourth best team in that are the other three still getting into the playoffs like you still getting three out of the North and the Bears last year but they were the cardiac kids can they do it again continuing to win all these close games. Then you got the Detroit line to took a step back last year but a lot of people think they'll take a step back forward again. And then the Green Bay Packers obviously you got the Josh Jacob stuff you have Mike apart. So you don't know what he's going to be you know healthy and available but they're super talented and Jordan love like at some point is he going to kind of realize how good his talent is and put it all together and get wins that's that division is loaded to you're right. The NFC South like who knows I don't know how that one shakes out my
belief is the bucket ears of the best team but I thought they were last year too and they weren't. Yeah so it's funny you bring up the Packers and before we get to the Gents Keith is a Keith the Rosary's are our guest here. So I was filling in for for my man Nick Wright on his podcast the two weeks in a row and what and this was just like a throwaway tank that I didn't realize because it's a national audience like it would have hit the way that it did was that I thought that Jordan love was slightly overrated because like the way people discuss him you would think that he'd won a playoff game since his working season which we know is not the case and you would think he wasn't the quarterback under center as the Packers were blowing in 18 point lead to as you just mentioned the cardiac bears and look a lot of that yes was the Packers defense once Michael got hurt they fell off a cliff I get it but they also started the second half with
four straight punts and so I'm not as high on the Packers as many people seem to be but they're obviously in this conversation I think both Detroit and Chicago finish ahead of them but that's just my take on the North. What do you what do you think about that? Yeah that would be my order too I I kind of think the Lions are going to be the team in that division so I would probably go Lions bears Packers Vikings and if the Packers and Vikings will both be jockeying for that last spot it's hard to win in the NFL when you have off the field things looming and Parsons whether or not he's coming back and when he's going back in the Josh Jacobs you know legal things right now too and you're right actually we just had the vote right the players voted on the top 100 players the Jordan love was like in the 70s anyway so it's not like the players don't view them as high as high as some of the media members do so maybe us media members not saying be a new but maybe the media members in general need to cool out a little bit and realize that Jordan love is good
he's not great all right but before we get to baseball I know you got to get out of here I got to ask you about the jets yeah so I talked myself and them to them starting the season three and two so they're winning at Tennessee they're then going to pick up one of the three North games and I couldn't figure out if it's at home against the Packers which feels more winnable or if it's on the road against Chicago because Chicago's that jet game is sandwiched between a Monday night game against Philly and then they're playing Sunday against the Packers so maybe you take your foot off the gas and you know take the jets lightly and then they beat the Browns in week five what's your view of the jets this season I have them starting two and three so I'm not that far off from you the over under for them is five and a half I think they soar past that I think that maybe I shouldn't say soar actually let me let me let me pull that back that that's too strong so soar would think that I'm thinking they're going to win eight or nine games I think they get to six and I think they maybe get to seven I just look at what like as much as I'm telling you that I like Jackson
Dart this year I do think the Geno Smith is going to be a lot better again the amount of times that he was getting beaten up in with the Raiders last year because that offensive line had you starting at center had me starting at tackle and Tom our producer was starting at one of the guards spots and like it was a bunch of people that don't play in the NFL that were starting on that offensive line so Geno is going to be better I think Frank Reich is going to do a better job as an offensive coordinator with Geno he's going to get the ball out of his hands quickly they're going to get it to playing makers I hope that Mitchell the the wide receiver can kind of realize some of his talent to be someone that can be really useful I think the Breast Hall will stay healthy this year he's going to be useful you got to be he's going to be I think a a guy that you might be able to get the ball into his hands and do some stuff at a tight end spot so the jets in general will be better so I have them starting two and three before the schedule gets a little rougher there and I think they're going to win six or seven games this season all right last question for you
as we transition to baseball go into your head and now the bullet has a creatine inside and so maybe you like all that all that you know turn off by it under your head Yankee storm back and win this American League East I'm going to say no and there's a lot ahead of them so you got the Padre series which is on the road very winnable but still on the road and then I know you and I talked about this though you have that nine game stretch all winnable games you know a mess twins and who's the other one I'm like you right now thank you and the Rockies so you got to win seven out of nine there then you get the four games set with the raise the double header is going to be tough so assume let's assume you can win three out of four with that and then you finish this season off still a lot has to break the right way obviously the Yankees have been fantastic lately when he 12 with their last 17 games doing all the right things Aaron judge is coming back hopefully next
week that should you know kind of lift this team a little bit I heard you and Tom talking about a like about an hour ago whether or not you can win with or without judge I think you can win with and without him the difference is injecting judge into your lineup it's not like in an NBA team where you inject let's say like Lebron James comes back from an injury or or or someone Luca Donchez comes back from an injury for the LA Lakers actually the better one is Austin Reeves comes back from an injury with the Lakers and suddenly what like you have to find a way to get the ball in his hands and it changes the way your offense runs when judge comes back into this lineup it doesn't change for the negative how anyone you know is in the batting order like people don't start swinging differently because he's there you don't have to get him the ball he's just another oh I don't know three time MVP that's thrown into your lineup and can you know put a little fear into opponents so yeah I think they'll probably fall a little bit short I think it's a shame that they had a couple
of losing streaks over the last you know month or two that are kind of put them down but they're within striking distance three games behind the race there's reasons to believe I think that if you get so one so over the next 15 games you make up two so so entering that series on September 22nd you're one game back that to me is realistic and I think the path because if you're telling me you've got to go in there and sweep Tampa I just don't think it's going to happen and if you look if even if you win three or four Tampa's got the season series so you finished tied at the end of the year it's not going to happen so I think that they got to make up two over these next 15 games to give themselves a real shot yeah I agree with you I appreciate you hopping on the show demand this was a lot of fun see we I had so much fun with you last night boxing I was like you got to pull up on the show today so I appreciate you doing that on such short notice have a great rest of your day great rest of the weekend and I'll definitely talk to you
you too bro down whatever that was Keith there's Erie who does a tremendous job he's all over the placement on that's and why MLB network and a show network and so it was fun chopping it up with him as far as Aaron judge obviously great news man like there's not it's it there's no way you can come away from watching judge return to the Yankees and have anything negative to say about it but he has to play right field he has to play right field because if he's your DH it clogs up what you're trying to do with I shouldn't say clog up it just messes up what you're trying to do with Garcia and rice who to your best hitters so I've been very hesitant to be all in on the Yankees yeah they can win the American league just because I had to see what it
looked like when judge came back I've graduated too they should be able to win the American league without judge now look he's coming back but I'm saying even if he doesn't come back they should be able to do that and that is a result of me having watched this offense come alive where they've scored six and more in seven of the previous 11 games and it doesn't feel fluky it's like Garcia is what third in OPS in baseball Belinger had a bit of an underwhelming season got hurt and now he's come back and he's been really good Ben Rice did have that one and a half month stretch where he just looked like he couldn't hit a beach ball but he still Ben Rice and there was a point in the season where we discussing him as as a candidate for American league MVP jazz has come alive I mentioned Austin Wells you know when
I got a rave about a guy hitting 260 but considering where he was prior to that and how we were in desperate need of a catcher you're like all right you can live with what Austin Wells is doing as long as that you can live with your nine hitter really not providing much offensively when he's taking care of business behind the plate what you can't live with is having multiple guys in your lineup be automatic outs you can't live with that Trent Grishon right now feels like an automatic out Spencer Jones should be playing over him and now George Lombard Jr who had been struggling defensively yeah what he had six errors and six six errors in six games not what you want but now he's gonna come back from the injury and I expect him to steady himself so the lineup is filled with guys who should be able to take care of business
so where you don't feel like what you're watching with this offense is a fluke and now insert Aaron Judge into the equation so you feel good can we get ahead of something real quick because you know it's coming I want to get ahead of the story because I mentioned the Yankees there are offenses come alive six and more runs seven of the previous 11 games judge coming back next week if they somehow win this division which would be glorious we're going to hear so much about how Yankee fans were idiots forever questioning boon and see I told you so ungrateful spoiled brats how dare you question this team when we saw them for a month look like
one of the worst teams in baseball now to their credit they've responded to that there are a season high 20 games above 500 they're clicking at times they have lapses of judgment in the field defensively running the bases still things we've been complaining about for three years but you watch them and you're like man they're the best team in the American league but that took a little bit of overcoming of adversity we weren't always here and so look if the Yankees go on to win the American league East or the American League in general there are going to be people trying to reverse engineer this thing or it's like y'all Yankee fans were always ridiculous to question what this team was capable of and it's like not man we saw Max free get hurt again we saw redone get hurt again just we didn't know he was coming back we didn't saw a bellinger get hurt
throwing rhyme like like a bunch of injuries started to take place for nanda crews peace out so there was a lot happening at the time that could legitimately cloud your optimism about this team going forward so if they do come back and win let's not act like we were all fools to not believe I want to hear that 8993776 let's go to Dave in the car what's up Dave hey what's up my man thanks for having me on you know I have an analogy I want to run by you it seems like and I'll get your opinion on it it seems like the Yankees have had a longer stretch of not playing well the same way the nicks had that stretch before the playoffs of not playing well and before the trade deadline when everyone's like you know let's get Giannis and and then there was the injury to ananobi who needed the time to heal and came back healthy now obviously ananobys not
the leader of the next he's not the judge nobody's gonna be very significant piece you're right he's still very very important so my I'm this this is a Yankee fan talking who's looking for the perfect ending right maybe judge is a lot more healthier than we know and they handling him with big gloves because the organization feels that they are the most stacked team in the American conference in the American league and and maybe now when he gets back he'll be a lot better because I really believe they need him to win it all I don't think they can win it without him and I think that you know that this could actually turn for the Yankees in a way that could be you know miraculous if judges healthy and if all these other little pieces hold up around him what are your thoughts on that analogy yeah so I like the nicks analogy and I appreciate the call because remember and we all do of course
but the season started for them with this whole you know get to the finals or bus mantra same same is the case for the Yankees and then they hit a rough patch two and nine stressed they got embarrassed on our martin luthi king day by the mass and they're all throughout the year we kind of impugned the legitimacy top to bottom and you have folks questioning the head coach as we do Aaron Boone right and Aaron Boone obviously has been here longer so there's more built into that but Mike Brown how many times folks are bringing up he was the ninth selection and so yeah I feel you on that the thing about judge I am not being disrespectful to him when I say that the Yankees can win the American league without him because it would be foolish to surmise they are as good without him as they are with them three time league MVP and and and that in itself doesn't even
feel like we're doing it all the way justice in describing what he means to that group the leader he is on and off the field that the the gold glove ask right feel that he plays um yeah we have our questions about what he can do in October because the reality is last year notwithstanding he's been a big question mark he has succumbed to the pressure he has not been Aaron forget being Aaron judge he's been Joey Gallo in the playoffs up until last year so when I say the Yankees should be able to win the American league with the without him it's less about judge and more about two things one is the American league we've been talking about it all year it's just weak I mean like a bunch of paper tigers folks posing as being big and bad but we know you punch them in a chest they're show this clap the second thing is this tact rotation is so good it's like football where
we said this about the Texans like yo CJ we don't need you to be Brady bro we don't need you to be my homes just don't have seven turnovers and two games and y'all will be all right because your defenses that historically great and that's how we feel about this Yankee rotation you don't need them scoring six seven eight runs a game you of course would have welcomed that and would love it but that they they'll be fine as long as they're not as pathetically bad as they were when they were in the midst of the the June swoon with Aaron's and what two runs a game so if you can just avoid being one of the worst offensive teams in baseball you will be fine and that's why there was there is this air confidence but then again that got interrupted once we saw max freed heard again
and it's like every single time they get healthy someone else goes on the I.L. and you're like oh boy here we go again we're running out of time but look we could be a couple days away from watching Aaron judge play for the first time in three months and all will be right right with the world we could also be a couple of days away from watching Aaron judge return to the lineup swing and then re-anger his ribs and now it kind of dilute some of the positivity for a lot of people for me you should still get to the World Series and once you're there you can win it now I don't think they would be favorite to beat the Dodgers think the Dodgers are better than them and you need Aaron judge to beat a team like that but once you're in the World Series you can get a dump thanks for listening to the Chris Carlin podcast I want my enemies to burn and hell catch the show
on demand whenever you want just subscribe to us wherever you get your podcasts D.P. H.O. in Rothenburg. Don Honda Rosenberg they're coming live to M.S.D. Networks you can catch our morning and afternoon shows Simon Cast across the M.S.D. Networks television and digital platforms you can still catch us on 880 am the ESPN New York app YouTube and more but we are beyond excited to start Simon Cast on M.S.D. Networks which will give our shows an even bigger platform to reach our fans don't miss out it's all starting this Tuesday September 8th on M.S.D. Networks now question for you Tom yes are you nervous at all about our guy Rick D.P. H.O. being able to handle the the gravity of this move to M.S.D. I am so glad you asked this question because that is the thing that probably terrifies me the most for this station in the M.S.D. partnership that we're going to have going I hope they have a dump button that's ready over there I don't know that that happens
on TV I don't know either I guess it varies like from station station because I've heard of stations to have one I've heard of stations that don't have one or at least one that they'd be able to catch in time it depends on what they got set up in master control or the studios or something like that now does this mean we're going to get a softer version of Rick D.P. H.O. going forward because that would be sad to see Rick's always pretty erect so I don't know if we're getting a such a diversion of him but yo here's what I will say when you're watching games like it'll happen like the crowd mic pick up something that's inappropriate and so you can dump it and you'll just see the game continue to happen with the audio so maybe that if we're being responsible M.S.D. that gets put in place for our guy Rick D.P. H.O. because here's what you don't want to do man he's like Jackson Dart like there there is a level of you can't tame him because he has to be himself like in order for him to to reach his apex you got to allow Rick to be Rick Jackson Dart to be Jackson to jazz
chis him to be jazz chis him like moving to the beat of their own drum playing with a little swag like that's the way that they operate and if you cut if you come through and try to cut that cord short circuit it you're not going to get the best version of those guys so no I don't think we should try to tame Rick let him be himself but he's got to understand amen it's a bigger platform it's the the reigning champions new york nicks lot of eyeballs on this program that's right we need the best version of yummy that we can possibly get yeah Rick K.Colour what's the context of K.Colour Rick yummy that I don't know because I don't know if I was at the station yet when that happened I'm just I know Rick and Michael have a very special connection yeah it's a lot of they've got going between the two of them and you can some would call some would call it a very very nice and genuine friendship and I would be under that I don't know that I've ever had a nice and genuine friendship with another dude I call the yummy but listen to each their own I don't sit here in judge the
case there's coming up at one p.m. and you know it was it was a nice a nice touch to have no point and said to have him and Don yesterday doing the throwback show I popped on you know pulled up to watch him and Don you know give us all the the the stories the memories and the you know recap of their journey and how once thought that this could be something that wasn't going to work they ultimately climbed the mountain top beat Francesca and I remember us having a celebration at the station it was a great moment for us as a company but for them individually I talked about this on the show last night just as we tried to do our best to you know pay homage to to our old geez Don being the first voice on the station and now living out and juggling multiple
dreams host a drive time radio and the voice of the the New Jersey Devils like that's really really dope man and then Kay who is the engine and is the lifeblood of the state the voice of the radio station having you know I always found it very very impressive he was he was able to do four hours of talk into a Yankee game my man's talking for seven straight hours arguing with folks and then putting a different hat on and calling the game and he's talked about this before and they if you know had discussions about this on the former iteration of the K show where like the difficulty the challenge of hosting a radio show in the same market that you do call games for a team and you got you you're catching it from different directions you got Yankee fans
manager for this and you got Yankee or non Yankee fans those who ate the Yankee fans manager for that and the fact that he was able to find success and still is doing so is a tremendous comp accomplishment so shout out to him shout out to Don and all of the folks who have contributed to what we have here I would not be here if not for those who were the trailblazers who those who you know dug some ditches and had the waterfield so you know it another thing time I meant to bring this up yesterday because Dan and I were doing the morning show and Don pops on at 845 and I was so mad that I just forgot in this moment to bring it up I interviewed for a a board out producer position back in March of 2017 which shout out to RJ for helping me get that interview back in March of 2017 I am sitting in the office of one Ryan Hurley and I think John was
a part of this meeting too at our former location two four two locations ago at West End and the doors open he's the program director he's got to have his door open just to case things pop off right and I'm sitting in the chair like my back is to the door Ryan's obviously is facing the door and who comes in that would be Don LaGracca comes in and and unprompted doesn't know me from a whole in the wall says to Ryan hire this man he's going to be great how cool is that time that sounds like the product typical don LaGracca response I I would expect out of Don Don is one out of one a gem on this on this earth and I guess one could argue it's the reason I got the job so do you that's part of his legacy so what you're saying is you all all of your success to Don
not RJ for getting you the interview well Dave you know like to take a lot of credit for what I've become Dave likes to take a lot of credit for a lot of things that he says around here but I don't know I think he's stretching the truth a little bit and look to a certain extent um because of the skill set I was able to put on display Saturday mornings working with a guy who I think's the greatest point guard we have not just on the station but in the market and Dave Rathamurt Dave Rathamurt keeps his excellent at that yeah he deserves a lot of credit um sometimes the way he phrases it though is a little off-putting but he does you give give him love and respect but maybe it's Don maybe Ryan said you know what I was gonna hire this pert in Tom Bauer but instead because Don gave me gave me a vote of confidence Don endorsed me as a candidate I now have the job and almost a decade later I'm hosting in this in this
that's pretty cool you know I hope that's the way that went down so shout out to the I should have mentioned that I'm so maybe I'll text it to I don't know if you remember yeah I think that makes you a bad person for not doing that sooner no I just it's just slip my mind but that's a part of his legacy I'm on the Don LaGrecca legacy tree as you should be and would you say that your mind was a little cloudy that that's why it didn't come to you sooner if we're a little bit more sunny than you probably yeah man it's there it's early and I'm and I'm up early in the morning I can't in the gym but this was a bit of a unique situation it had been a minute time since I had traveled into the city that early to the station and so upon parking or trying to parallel park my car I saw like six to seven rats just partying in the middle of the street like there was no tomorrow rats ginormous rats tie butler does a lot of things tie butler does not do
raccoons and rats I don't play with that so I was you know it to start my morning like that threw me off a bit and maybe it affected my memory bank yeah man yeah that's not where I was getting out I was trying to subtly lead you to doing the weekend weather report presented by neutral but I don't think you caught on to that oh man see my memory bank and my me being on points I still haven't recovered from seeing a bunch of rats still haven't recovered but to your point time now for your weekend weather report brought to you by neutral here in New York City tomorrow calls for sunny to partly cloudy skies with the highest 79 and Sunday calls for clouds and sunshine with the highest 74 down at the Jersey Shore you might find Tom Bauer might found Tom Bauer catching it from the ladies getting his grind thing on
yeah man a sunny to partly cloudy skies tomorrow with the high 81 and on Sunday sunny with the few clouds with the high of 75 that was your weekend weather report brought to you by neutral keep it tasty with neutral vodka celtzer made with real vodka and real fruit juice enjoyed responsibly thanks for listening to the Chris Carlin podcast I want my enemies to burn and hell catch the show on demand whenever you want just subscribe to us wherever you get your podcasts I've pushed myself in this direction just because it just feels like it's the correct way to go but I have the jets beating Tennessee I think the jets are better than the Titans and the closer we get to next Sunday the more confident I am in Gino Smith that offensive line those weapons that defense being able to put out a representable performance against a Titans team that I just don't
find to be good and maybe part of it is being swayed by and this is a flaw I guess watching Tennessee embarrass itself in the preseason but I just think that when you look at where the jets are in their rebuilding timeline they should be at the very least a year ahead of Tennessee and I know the Titans have their franchise quarterback they think in cam ward and he did finish last year off pretty solidly I think the jets are better I think they go to Tennessee and win week one and that then changes our perception of what the gauntlet the next three weeks look like when you're at home for green bay without mica and presumably without Josh Jacobs and then back-to-back road games at Detroit and at Chicago if they win week one all of a sudden it's like hey why why can't you beat the packers I think Jordan loves been overrated and I know Packers fans got really mad at me when
I was feeling the nick and the volume put that clip out of me saying he's and I wasn't disrespect why I said I think he's slightly overrated people pretend Jordan love is some top seven quarterback I said I don't think that a guy who hasn't want to play off games since rookie season in blue and 18 point lead in the postseason the last time we saw him is a top seven quarterback that's just me but anyway that's a it then becomes a winnable game if you beat Tennessee Detroit obviously going to be tough disappointing last year I expect them to rebound a lot of pressure on Dan Campbell a lot of pressure on him since the bait and kneecaps thing that you know blew that big lead in the NMC championship game Mr. playoffs last year a lot of pressure on Dan Campbell I think that they can bounce back and then you go to Chicago for week four and I outline it's kind of the perfect spot for the jets because to short week for the Bears Monday night they are playing against the Eagles
the week after they play so it's Eagles on Monday night then they play the jets then they play the Packers so could it be a little bit of a trap game we shall see in the week five of course you've got the Browns and so I went as far to say as I think they're starting three and two get the Titans win get the Browns win and then figure out to be one just one of those NFC North seams just one of them and if you if you are airing blend and we are seeing signs of progression for this organization part of that comes with you displaying that you can make a statement now you can make a statement you can have one of those statement wins this year could it be against Buffalo could it be against New England could it be against Kansas City all the chargers maybe later in the season we'll see but when one of those three games I don't think that's a lot to ask as far as the
Yankees are concerned I said in order for me to think that it is realistic that they are going to win this division they need to be within one game of the race when you start that series on the 22nd which means you now have 15 games to make up to if you go into that four game series needing a sweep you're drawing dead can you take three or four absolutely but then you lose the tiebreaker if you need to sweep you're drawing dead and then all of a sudden look at the Orioles play playing a lot better so we thought final week another series of the season that series against Baltimore a little bit of a layup always might be playing for something because do imagine that Peter Lonzo Luis Robert Jr. powering the match or I'm sorry look at that Freudian slip powering the Orioles to a play oh spot as fans have to watch that happen in the American league and in the national league you got to watch PCA win the MVP as if the season could get any worse
this was a lot of fun shout out to my guys Tom and Julian tremendous stuff today I'll be back tomorrow morning from 9 to noon filling in for Dan Grasza so we'll be all over the Yankees in San Diego tonight thanks for listening to the Chris Carlin podcast I want my enemies to burn and help catch the show on demand whenever you want just subscribe to us wherever you get your podcasts
