Hour 3: Lions new comer you're most excited to see?

0:00Man, it's hard to believe that the summer is gone and football is finally here. NFL game start tonight, which new comeer? Are you most looking forward to seeing debut? The guy who wasn't on the team a year ago, whether it be a rookie, whether it be free agent signing, whether it be a player they traded for, who you most looking forward to watching for the Lions. Yep. I think it's the draft pick Derrick Moore. Is it? That's who I'm looking forward to seeing. I think he's, I think he's got a chance to be real disruptive. And I know it's going to take some time before he really hones his skills here, but he's got a skill set and he can get to a quarterback. And if he can stay healthy, he'll get those opportunities. So that's, that's where I'm looking at. There were multiple candidates for me when the preseason started. Isaiah Pateco was one. I've always been in Isaiah Pateco fan. I love his running style. That man runs like he's mad at the ground. Two, Skylar Gill Howard.

1:02I really am intrigued if they found themselves. Sometimes people are athletic freaks and you look at him and you go, wow, other times you go, really that guy? And he has a really that guy. He just doesn't look like he's big enough to be as effective as he was in the preseason, but it was the preseason. How influenced are you by saying that because what Chris Spielman had to say when he pointed out, look, I'm getting skinny. How influenced am I by that? Well, I'm influenced by the results. But with Chris Spielman scouting reported, it's certainly amped up by paying attention to how he goes north, south with his shoulders facing east west. So I'm super intrigued by Skylar Gill Howard, but I will say it and I'll say it all season long. Every breath you take, every move you make. Blake Miller, I'll be watching you. That's true as well. Kang, what about you? Which newcomer intrigues you the most? Newcomer. Can it be off the field with Drew Petsing? Yep. Because I think that I'm so over the praise for every new hire and everyone does this.

2:07And I don't expect them to say anything less. They shouldn't really. I get it, but it's show me time. And everyone says that this guy, I really feel like they went after Petsing because he is so close to Ben Johnson as far as not just relationship wise, but as far as maybe how they think offensively, right? And how they set up a team to score. I don't know if it's a lot of trickeration or just running plays that they're home run type running plays or just getting spreading the ball out deep shot to Jamal. I'm not sure, but we all knew when we were watching last year's offense, it didn't feel right. Even when they were scoring points at the end of the game, like their total was high, it didn't, it never felt right. There was not a flow. Dan Campbell obviously felt the same way because he made the change and he knew what the team was supposed to look like. And that's not how the offense was running. And so I'm really interested to see how Petsing gets this back on track and coach Campbell even said it like, you know, they don't expect drastic changes, but they expect, you know, they know what they're supposed to see and do. And then let's see it happen on this Sunday. What's what's intriguing about this question?

3:08And I want to hear from the fans at 248 5 3997 97. What player, what new player are you most excited to see in action? They didn't do anything massive. They sprinkled a little here, a little there. If you look at their editions like DJ, want them wasn't a headline edition. It wasn't one that had people going, wow. But it could be a sneaky smart edition. Chuck Clark, Roger McCreery, Christian Isian, all brought in to help in the secondary. Did they get it right? Tyler Conklin. Or brought in as a backup tight end. Did they get it right? Probably the big ticket item was indeed Blake Miller. But I'm wondering what the people have to say at 248 5 3997 97. What edition are you most excited to see? Because it's not, it's not like there's an obvious one. You know, maybe, maybe Blake Miller is the most obvious one and leave it to me. Oh, yeah. To drill down the most obvious one. There's a subtraction I can't wait to see.

4:09And that's the fact that Montgomery's not going to be there anymore. And it's not like I didn't like Montgomery. He was an awesome backup, secondary back, whatever you want to call him. But now Jameer Gibbs gets the full show. And I think that lines, they saw this. They saw, they probably the best offensive weapon on their team standing on the sidelines healthy at times during the game because they had to rotate backs. And it's too tantalizing not to put them on the field at all times. And they said, you know what, we'll save money. We'll move on from Monty Gibbs. This is your show. You get the whole thing now. And so it's going to be interesting to see him take on between the tackles, not just outside the tackles, goal line, all that stuff. So Gibbs is going to get the full workload. And we'll see how he handles it. I think I expect big numbers from him. I'm not the only one obviously. No, a lot of, a lot of people expecting big things from Jameer Gibbs. Mike and Colorado writes in regarding Dan Campbell saying how much he likes the secondary in spite of the losses to injury. Of course, Campbell is going to say he's confident the secondary. Can you imagine if he said otherwise, we won't know until we actually see them. In action, but right now that secondary is a liability.

5:13Well, I don't expect him to say anything but good things about him. There's no point in saying anything but good things about him publicly. What was interesting to me was the enthusiasm with which he answered that question. Now it could be all an act. Fine. I can be concerned about that position group in the secondary, but at the same time, I can't say there are liability yet because we haven't seen him play in a game. I don't think you can make that determination until at least after a first game that you watch them play against other NFL players. And then it's the conclusion you draw. So be it. But right now, I don't think it's fair to say that. 248, 539, 97, 97, Jackson and Birmingham. You're on 97 one. Hello, Jackson. Hello. Hello, we're actually at lunch right now at high school, but we just want to talk to me and my friend or in the car. We just want to talk about Jimmy Roller and Derek Moore specifically. I'm really excited about Jimmy Roller.

6:15I think it was an absolute stud at Michigan, elite in the run game. And I just think the linebacker depth, besides Jack Campbell, I don't like any of that. I don't like Derek Barnes really that much. Malcolm Rodriguez is fine, but he's not. He's a he's a back of one macro for Reese. Do you not like Devon White who was the number three tackler in the NFL last year? Not really. I mean, it's kind of old. Didn't we get caught by the tax on record? Yeah, I was and he still had the third highest tackles in a lead. I can't believe he was available. I can't either. And he can get reset by Las Vegas. And then there's something there. Like there's a reason why Jackson appreciate the phone call. Should I ask him what classes he had this afternoon? I bet. Um, your terrible parent. There's a reason he was available. And so I'm not fully convinced the stat. I mean, he was a tackling machine last year in Vegas. As far as Jimmy Roller's concerned, if he stays healthy, I love it. He was a he was a two sports standout.

7:17He was an Illinois baseball comment. His dad his stepdad was in the NFL. Scott Keeho was a linebacker for the Miami dolphins. And then he decided to play football and at Michigan, he was really blossoming, but he constantly was hurt. Not constantly, but he suffered enough injuries that kept him off the field. It might have hurt his draft stock. So it could be a steal. I'll back up to call our little bit on the Devon White thing. So you got to ask yourself though, why was Devon White available for every single team in the league to get to get and no one picked him up in the lines? He is a tackling machine, but he's a liability in coverage. So that's where it might hurt the lines. And maybe in passing down, of course, Devon White's not in there. It's Malcolm Rodriguez or whoever they feel more comfortable that they would have covered tight ends or running backs. But we'll see. I think I like Devon White. It's not like I don't like the signing, but I'm also not expecting all pro Devon White from the Buccaneers either. So we'll see what happens, but it does provide depth. And we know how that could kill this team in the years past and I have enough depth. He also may have been waiting just to latch out with the contender.

8:18There could have been a bunch of teams that wanted him. He's like, yeah, keep quiet Cleveland and not going over there. Or whatever the case was until one of the contending Super Bowl teams came calling. Fair question. And yet given that he is not going to be the primary, like they're going to count on Jack Campbell and there are others there in competition. He's a good, I would say he's probably a good depth piece at the very least. 248, 539, 97, 97 Carson Anderson, 97 one. How to stay at the week just got hotter. That's right. 10:28Okay. And a tweet put out by ESPN. Kang, they both did it independent of one another didn't they correct? The NFL tweet was described or the caption was the journey to Lambertie starts today. And it was a cartoon depiction of one player from each of the 32 teams staring at a giant Lambertie trophy. Guess who the Detroit Lion was. He used one lion in that tweet. Do you forget Siggamy just springing these questions on? No, no, no, no, no, no, it's fine. It's fine. I like being tested sometimes. Sometimes it was good. I think it's one of two people I think. One's offensive, one's defensive. I'll say, I'm going to say Jameer Gibbs over Hutch.

11:32And my thought is because there are other ed rushers. I'm sure they'd rather promote the Nathan Hutchinson and Jameer Gibbs might be the best running back at football. So they want to showcase that. And that's why I have him over golf because there are other quarterbacks they'd want to showcase. But Gibbs is the guy. ESPN put out a very similar tweet. It was a picture of a boardwalk leading to SoFi Stadium and a massive Lambertie trophy behind it. Again, it's a cartoon depiction with one player from every team. Who do you think the Detroit Lion was? OK, go to the different one this time. No, I didn't say that. Well, I'll stick with my fellow Jameer Gibbs. It is Jameer Gibbs. They use Gibbs in both of them. The best part about this is on the ESPN one. They have again one player from every team on this boardwalk. One team is not represented on the boardwalk.

12:34LSU. I can't tell who it is, but I think I know who. I believe, Kang, are you looking at the ESPN tweet? All right, I'm about to write now. Everybody's got a player on the boardwalk. One team has a player on a hang glider up on the side. Yeah, I see that. And I believe it's the Cincinnati Bengals. It is. OK. What? Why? Is the Bengal? Oh, I will offer this. OK. They forgot. And then they have to after they got this superimposed. They had to superimpose. They got to figure, whoa, we forgot the Bengals. Where we're going to put is a Joe Burrow. It's Jamar Chase. I mean, it's a cartoon. I don't know if they couldn't have just found a way to put them on there. And I'll also say this might be indicative of anything or nothing. As they charge off into the distance, Jameer Gibbs is out in front. He is.

13:34I think he's winning barely. Is that Jackson Smith and Jameer? Yeah, but next OK. For JSN. But why is Jamar Chase a hang glider? Why is he not in the hang glider? He's breezy. Do you want him in a cherry picker instead? They got Dak Prescott on a horse. But he's on the boardwalk. He's a cowboy. He's a cowboy. But why wouldn't they have a jet and a plane then? Or why wouldn't they have? It was where the Jamar Chase is. I don't know how to relate that, though. And the hang glider, Gator, it's like a tiger striped hang glider. Like a Bengal. OK, Bengal striped here. Yeah. By the way, I got to bring those because Gator's, you feel some type of way towards Sam Darnold. You even picked them to lose tonight. Does that what happened? Yeah. The NFL tweet, Doug, they speak of earlier with all the players. Who would have thought of how it would have told you last year, Sam Darnold's going to be the biggest player on their leading the way to the Lombardi. Like not leading, but he's the biggest, you know, AI generated player.

14:35It's Sam Darnold. Like, is there going to be another Sam Darnold that you're and what I mean by that is, who's going to be the player that we're not even thinking about that's going to come out of nowhere? Yes. Sam Darnold is ahead of his front center, head of Lamar Jackson, Miles Garrett, you know, Fred Warner. Like it's Sam Darnold Gator. Yeah, it's a mistake. It is, but the Kang's question is a valid one. If somebody had said last year, the Sam Darnold was going to be an important player that leads a team to great success. The response of everybody, everybody would have been all that's cute. But I mean, seriously, it's not just an Herbert. Just an Herbert leading his team to a Super Bowl will be far less surprising than Sam Darnold. I don't know. Who's a, how about Daniel Jones? Yeah, Jones being interesting one. I could see that. That's a correlation. There's a game gave up on him.

15:36He went somewhere else and actually played really well last year till he got hurt. Speaker Mayfield fit in that or has he already been too good since he's been moved around a couple of times. The resurrection of Baker has been, I think complete. But I just worked that into a three year extension for 165 million dollars. It's good to be Baker. Good for him. It's good to be Baker. Yeah. He doesn't need to do the state farm commercials anymore. Oh, he should because it's a lot of his show like him is because of the state farm. What about Kyler Murray? That's Kyler. I mean, I don't see it, but I could see it. Same here. He's in that position where he could be that guy. Yes. The new Sam Donald, but will he. Will he be, which would be interesting because that would mean that Minnesota will have done it three times. You know, the Kirk cousins was their guy. And Sam Donald was their guy. And now it could be Kyler Murray all doing well and then moving on to do better things elsewhere. Perhaps we'll see. Yeah, we'll see what happens with Murray. But yeah, that is it truly is unbelievable. And obviously Gator still can't wrap his head around that being the reality.

16:40What? You were literally one of Super Bowl and gears like, eh. Like that's the ultimate. That's it. You can't do better. So Joe Flacco. I mean, okay. So the Brad Johnson back on the day, right? Yes. But good for them. Did you, did you express your disdain for Joe Flacco and Brad Johnson before they? No, but I mean, they were fine. You know, that they didn't have the season that. That what's his not sad, but you can't even say Sam Darrell. Sam Darrell, there it is. Okay, let me make sure of something here. We're not missing anything, right? Is this this is not personal in any way? No, you just never thought he was going to get. Correct. Yeah. I mean, did he what reason to give us to think that he was good? Done and and you would, you would particularly latched on to that, which makes us.

17:40He had done absolutely nothing for the first like six years of his career, then goes to Minnesota and has a hell of a season when he gave him some players around him. That was great, except he couldn't beat two teams, the Lions or the Rams and got just housed by them. Okay. And then goes to Seattle. Another great situation to go to. Lots of offensive weapons to work with. And wins a simple good for him. That's great. Well, having the weapons definitely helps. Definitely helps. Okay. So just a quick programming note.
