America leads the world in medicine development. It matters. We get new medicines first nearly
three years faster. Five million Americans go to work because we make medicines here at home
and not relying on other countries keeps us safe. But China is racing to overtake us.
Will we let them or will we choose to stay ahead? When America leads, America cures.
Let's tell Washington to keep us in the lead.

All right. Talk to me. Let's the rapid fire stuff. We could take some calls to it.
One hundred nine one nine three seven seven six. There's been rapid fire. It's coming up at six
o'clock. All right. Don't even play games. All right. It's it's honesty time. I'm going to play
some honesty time. Okay. All right. I just gave you some truth serum. So you cannot lie.
And I'm going to ask you to answer me by looking directly at it. Okay. Hold on.
Tonight. I have the schmutz off your face. There you go. Eight o'clock.
United States and Canada quarter fattles of the WBC Peter. Look at me. Look at me. Yeah.
Will you watch? Absolutely not. Will you check in to see what the score is?
I will forget. Then Anthony may text if something interesting happens. And then if it sounds
interesting, I will watch. If none of that happens. Yeah. Well, at some point either late tonight
or sometime tomorrow, look up to see what the final score was. Yes, I will. That is where I've
well, I've been totally out of looking at my eyes. I have looked at the WBC scores or standings.
If not every day, all but like one day of the tournament. So I will check in. But like, will I
not give Maya her bath because I have to watch USA Canada? No, that won't happen. Now,
obviously, I can't ask you the same way because you got a nickname. I'll be working, but normally
when there's something interesting going, I'll always put it on a second screen. But if you were
home tonight, let's try to be real. When I work, if there was another game that was of interest,
I usually would have it on a second screen. Would this be a game of interest? No, that's the problem.
Yeah, I didn't know. So that's where you're going. This is not going to, this is not going to cross
my path until Anthony puts something in the group chat of, you know, like judge either hitting
a homeowner, striking out a big moment. You know, he is like, it's going to be something like that.
And then I'll be like, okay, I know what's going on. But this, I'm sorry. And this is nothing.
You guys know, I love baseball. This is of no significance whatsoever. This does not, this is
you'll so manufactured now that I just can't, I can't buy what sent you over the top though,
because do you feel that way? The fact that the manager had no idea what was going on,
that they are sending players in and out like, oh, this guy's going to leave now and go back to his
to like, I'm sorry. Like, it's just there's something about it this year that just is lacking
any type of this is significant. This is important. And this deserves your attention. It doesn't,
John, this is the quarters tonight. The quarter quarter final. So if the United States plays
Canada, Korea takes on the Dominican Republic. So the winner of those two games will play
in the semi final on Sunday. You've also got two games going on on Saturday. And then they'll
advance and play Monday in their final game. And then the, the actual final is Tuesday. So here's
a problem. To me, a semi final match up between the US and DR is a lot of fun. Could be. Yeah.
If that were on Monday, like during our show, I think we'd be kind of locked in. You think this
would be like when we watched the the women's game and they won it over time. We all went crazy.
We were there. It's gold medal. I could see that happening. Like if it's a good game,
battling back. Is that game Monday? It's Sunday. It's Sunday. I'm out. That's what I'm saying. But it's
so is it is it cutting into your weekend family time? Probably. Yeah. Well, here's what I'll say.
Because I'm a baseball fan, a big baseball fan. It's not my favorite sport. Same. But I do love it.
Again, forget about the Olympics. The comparable apples to apples comparison is the four nations
with which the NHL had United States, Canada, Finland, and Sweden. I'll be honest, as a hockey fan,
I was interested, but it didn't move me that much. I was going to watch because I just love hockey,
just like a baseball fan will watch this. But I wasn't like, how do you not watch it is? Are you
not? This is the greatest thing in the world. I looked at it and go, I'm nice. As Gary Bettman
said to us when we did the show over at the NHL store last year, it was an appetizer for the Olympics.
I'm like, guy, not bad. Yeah. Then all of a sudden, the first meeting between the USA and Canada,
there's three fights in the first 90 seconds. I'm like, I'm salivating. I'm all in. That's
that's the whole point. And then I'm watching the games and I'm like, every moment was so intriguing
and they were so in that it won me over and it won other people. They did it. The player has it. They
told me this matters to them. Every single thing that happened in the first nations told you,
I need to watch this. There you go. And it feels like everything that's happened in the WBC is
telling me, don't bother. Now, that doesn't mean that tonight, USA and Canada is something might
happen that all of a sudden sucks me in. And then the US advances and they take on Korea and
something happens there. So I'm not saying I can't be sucked in. But I think to Alan's point,
they did borderline irreparable damage by having a looks like the United States being the only
team that's like letting guys go back to spring training by the manager not knowing the rules.
By the way, of all, you know, it's to go back to spring training. Of all, no, of all, unless
you're coming away to go back there, unless you are coming off an injury, the idea that you can't
miss a couple more days of spring training. By the way, though, you've just gone through this,
I know it's a short journey, but this, though, you've gone through this journey. I know I'm going
to leave the clubhouse now. Oh, hell no. That is my work. And that's why I said to you, Alan,
to me, that was bigger than the manager not knowing. I agree with that. The people leaving shows,
you don't give a damn. And the thing is, like, I get it again, again, comparing it to the
four nations. Could I see guy going there going, man, this looks, this doesn't feel like it's
anything. I don't know why we're doing this. If this was as compelling as they're trying to make
it be, I don't think those players want to leave. But, and some of them may not. But I'm going to be
open to say, hey, it's only the quarterfinals. There's still a couple of games here. Something may
happen that gets stuck. I think that's different. I think it's been unfair to compare it to the
Olympics. But there it is. There's been news that has come out that tells you that it's a nice
little event for baseball fans. Bob Costa came on our show last week. He said, hey,
die-hard baseball fans are going to love it. But if you're going to do something, they've got to
be all in. And so that's what's what's interesting about that. Okay. The other thing is,
how do you think this WNBA thing is going to work itself out? I didn't like what she was saying
in a sense of, well, maybe we'll miss some preseason. No, no, they've got to lock this down.
And I don't want them to be taken advantage of, but I'm telling you, it's so easy. There's so much
going on. There's so much momentum right now. But if you have a lockout, it could do irreparable
damage. It really could do this is tremendous. That's why the league has to hold. The players have
to hold their ground. It's a tough spot knowing that the league feels that way. So it's a question.
Well, who's the pressure on more? Where do you hold that? Players, the players who could end up
losing momentum that they were finally gaining or a league that has to worry about losing
what they thought they were gaining and sponsors and others going like, well, now we can't trust
that this thing's good. This product is going to take off or going to go any further because of
what's going on here. That's a dangerous dance that you're playing right now. But it's a great
example of the 95 lockout, the 94 95 lockout. That's the best example of all because it was hot.
Because the league back then, the NHL, you think about it from 1990 to 1994. All the major
markets were in the finals. You had Boston in the finals in 1990. You had LA in the finals in 93.
The Rangers in 94. You had, I think it was Minnesota in another one as well. Like you had big
markets. Pittsburgh had a superstar team. There was something going on in the US that was exciting
about the sport. And of course, the Rangers were the cherry on top. It couldn't have gotten
out of Fox jumps in. They want to now all of a sudden turn this into a thing.
And then cut a season and a half to have it just wait until I think it was January right when
they started the league. That was it was irreparable, the damage. And then on top of it,
what happened after that was the left wing lock became a thing and now it was hard to watch
the sport. Well, it was a perfect storm of ruining what something they built the WK out of
and I brought it up to Maria when she was on. The other piece that hurt was now the rush to get back
so you don't solve all your problems. And now you're kicking the can down the road and eventually
it'll 405. You cancel the entire season. So if the WMBA is like, oh, all right, listen,
we're feeling the pressure. We got to get back. So let's just accept whatever it is. Let's
get, let's sign some three year CBA deal and get back to work. Great. And now three years from now,
those owners are like, I'm getting mine. And now you're shutting it down. You're going through the
whole thing all over again. So you're you're you're in that they got to learn from history. You're
in that like middle ground of you don't want them to be take advantage of you want to be able to
get yours. But at the same time, you want to get back to work and you don't want to lose the
momentum that you have. So somebody's got a blink. And to me, are these owners? Are they that
invested? Hey, if it's if we lose momentum, hey, it's one of like 15 things I own. It's not
that big of a deal to me. It's that's the that's part of the problem. So again, if you're on the
player side and Maria was telling us that there is just something they are going to get. No,
and it's significant. And it's it's it's it's not great. But it's a step in the right direction.
Don't you then just all right. We're going to fight to the tooth and nail. We'll go to the 11th
hour. We're going to take what we can get now. But we know we get this much here. We're going to
take a little more later. But he got to keep it's almost like he gets got to keep nibbling at it
as bad as it sounds for the for the because of what this sport has done over the last couple of
years. It has exploded as we've seen. And yes, Katelyn's part of it. But it's it's a lot of
amangel has a big part. It really it really is now a bunch like it's it's a massive and there's
still more stars coming from college. You have to understand that this is not the time to say I
need all of it. Get as much as you can. But then get back on. Yeah, it's it's it's really a very
difficult call. But hopefully they get it solved sooner than later. Coming up. We're going to
hear from Gino Smith. He spoke for the first time officially as a New York Jets. Sounds like
Pizarro or former jet current jet. Right. That's right. Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss.

Refresh your game with a Schwepps, Celter, or Schwepps, Gingerail. Last night on Sports Center,
Gino Smith spoke for the first time officially as a jet.
Is Ellen? Did Ellen just give a little bit of air quimpy? I'm sure I'm sure we'll have it.
Last night Gino Smith scored on Sports Center.
Gave me a quimpy, right? We're going to go to war with the Chinese in 20-odd years.
I knew it had to get a 20-odd years. It's still the best. I know you're going to feed me to the
chop me up. If you feed me to the poor, it's not as good as the, uh, you like that one better?
Yeah, because it's something to talk about. It was, like, see, it was Baldwin. That was
forcing it bad. Like that, out of all the ones that, in that movie, that were forcing the accent.
Baldwin's was the worst, wasn't it? Even the Capitol, like, didn't, now we all know, like, um,
like, Damon didn't have to try. I got to be honest with you, and I do love that movie.
This is Gaines of New York. No, Gaines of New York. I don't remember.
It deported. Deported. But the Gaines of New York should have given away that it's not that.
You mean because Gaines of New York is in New York, whereas Depart is in Boston?
Yeah. Sure. Go ahead. And one was in, like, the 1800s, and one was in, uh, time makes it
2000. Yeah. Time to time. Who in Gaines of New York would have said, we're going to go to war
with the Chinese in 20-odd years? Like, the leader from the Boston gang who was in New York.
I've never seen it. I don't know what happened. Uh, in fact, I think the whole thing's made up.
It's really not. Are you sure?
Uh, you've never seen gags in New York. Now you have to homework. It's good. It's not, don't,
no, don't. It's not cool. Honestly, don't put it. It's good. I don't have to enjoy it.
It's going to half hour. I feel like I have a good, I feel like I enjoyed it,
but I would not say you have to say it. I guess the reason my brain didn't go to part of it is
because the movie is so good that thinking about, like, they're being multiple terrible forced
accents. Oh, there are. It's an odd. That's an odd thing about the party. There are, though. I
believe there's three things that bother me about the party because you never know where we're
going to go on a show and we're going there. As you should. Oh, boy. Is that it still bothers me
that of all the Scorsese movies. That's the one that wins best. It's a good, it's a great,
well, come on. No, it's a great, you know, but it's not good, fellas. It's not casino. It's not,
it's not. All right. Yeah, that's one. Number two, the use of the flip phone is almost
theoretic. I understand it's 2006 and that's the technology. But my God. You're absolutely right.
And can ever with the exception of falling off the roof, everybody to headshot,
everybody getting shot shot in the head. Yeah, it's amazing. Everybody's a great shot. I got to say,
you know what? I think I saw the part. I think I saw when it came out in the theater and I don't
have ever checked it out. Oh, it's time you see it. It's so good. But Martin's Boston accent. Oh,
it's like the work. Like I'm trying to figure is, is Baldwin's worst? Oh, it was, was Martin. But,
you know, everybody's is awful. Honestly, everyone is over the top. So why didn't they just get Boston
people to do it? Well, no, you know, he's one of the greatest actors ever. But, but it doesn't
take out of it. It's such a line of the accent. It actually adds to me. I thought Don, tell me from
crazy. It added a little bit of a comedic appeal to a serious, it did, you know, guns and tough
guys. It gave like a like an SNL skit kind of feel. It's not normally like, one of the greatest
of all time, right? Even him there were time. I remember the rats and he does hope that scene makes
his face. Like I'm cracking up. It is so good. But yet, it's also sinister. And it's able to survive.
I got, you know, a major flaw. And what is about two hours, 45 minutes? I don't think it's that long.
Not even that long. I don't know if Anthony can look it up. I'm going to revisit. And also just real
quick. Every time somebody dies, there's an X in the scene. Oh, you've told me this. Oh,
check it out. Yeah, it's true. All right, Gino Smith spoke. Oh, Gino. Gino, that's right. We went
back to that. Speaking of the gangs in New York, gang green. Oh, look at you. He's got a lot of good
football left. What did Gino say? Yeah. On sports tonight. On sports center. He believes he's got a lot
of good football left. Hey, well, hopefully the ending isn't coming soon. I got a lot of years
to play. And I'm looking forward to, you know, again, just getting back into the building, starting
at day one and building this thing from the ground up brick, brick. I'm telling you right now.
Got a lot of them. I'm telling you right now, I know the fans have their opinion. I know Jets
upper management have their plan. Given what Gino has been through and knowing what athletes
are like, tell me if you guys disagree. His plan in his head is to upend the entire plan,
is to be like so good on this team that they're like, we might have to build this with Gino for three
years. We have to give him an extension. That's that is what the plan is for him. I can well,
I don't think he's coming into this saying I'll be here. But is it that redemption tour or
is it that part? I know this team wants the draft quarterback and they've got the draft equity
to trade up for one if they end up having a good season and can't pick first overall or in the top
five. He's thinking I'm going to ball out and I'm going to pull Sam Garner. You know, I'm going
to be able to go pick, you know, where I want to go. Right. And that's what he's probably thinking.
He's going to be 30. He's going to be 30. That's the thing though. I think, I think he like,
I'm making this up. We are completely all speculating obviously. I think he loves the idea
of it just being no. He shows it here. He ends it here. I don't think he balls out. I believe he's,
I believe he talked about that. No, I'm either way done. That's as likely as him impressing again
for what the third time and no, but another no, but about it in 30s. But listen, I think
I don't want to put words in as well. But you don't think there's a chance he can get north
to 40 million dollars. He goes out there throws 30 touchdown passes, six interceptions and throws
for 4,000 yards. You don't think he's going to get it. The next year is 36. Well, if he does it with
the jets, hold on, but short term. Hold on. Stop again. If a jet's quarterback did what you just
said 4,000 yards, and they don't sign him. Yeah. Keep playing. It's criminal practice. It is criminal.
If he does that, he's there. Ah, but you know what? That's the problem is is that jet fans will
tell you that's exactly what Ryan Fitzpatrick did at 33. They were signed that he got hurt and he was
done. I don't know if you I don't know if there's a world. First I didn't do 4,000 because no one has
we found that at the end, but it was like it was like 39.05. Yeah, he did he did come close. Although
I'll say this, you know, I know they both had different paths. I was much more sure of the
place where Ryan Fitzpatrick existed prior to his jet season than Geno. Geno is already better
than Ryan Fitzpatrick period. He is not I don't Ryan never had multiple seasons like Geno hadn't
Seattle. I don't I don't get one with the Jets. Maybe. Maybe you bring him back another year.
He's not getting a multi-year count. I don't care what he does. He's not getting a multi-year
contract with the Jets. But you know what he does. He does buy you the ability to still draft that
young quarterback and not feel the pressure of playing said young quarterback. But he has to
media, but it doesn't mean you mean this year. No, no, next year. Next year. Okay. Like if you don't
get somebody this year and he has a year that you're talking about where he's he's back on it
and Garrett Wilson's like absolutely going my god. This guy I have a quarterback that could hit
me in the hands. You know, if that happens and then the Jets use draft capital to still trade up
because there's a team up in the top three that doesn't need a quarterback and they'll take the
draft capital and then you get X quarterback. You can give Geno another full year. A one plus,
you know, whatever. And then say he's our guy right now and if it's not going great,
if it's in the wrong direction, we're going to buy a game in the future. That's it. All right.
That's probably what you're playing for, right? I would that's the hope. At 36, you're playing for the
next, whatever it is, the next contract, the next contract. What about Aaron Glenn drew you in?
When I talked to AG, you know, just the realness of him. He's a guy who's played this game. So
he understands it from a player perspective. I mean, he's been a tremendous coach for a while now. He
was on staff when I got drafted, you know, back in 2013 and we just had a bunch of conversations about
how cool it would be to for he and I and the guys, you know, on the team, all of us, man, to,
you know, win and form park and for this to be our story. You know, I was drawing in to just,
again, he's a real dude. He's a guy who I played against. I know what his defense has to offer.
They got a ton of talent on that team and I'm just, you know, really excited to be a part of it,
you know, to be a part of this team. Now, I don't think there's a lie told there. But
correct me if I'm wrong, the reason they had to trade for him was because the feeling was once
he had free agency, they wouldn't be able to sign. Yeah. All right. So you weren't that intrigued
because somebody else would have gobbled you up. Yep. All right. That's why they made, and again,
it was, it was a negligible trade, right? Sixth round. It wasn't a big deal. Whatever.
I'm trying to bounce back off for its 2025 season.
There's a lot of people who have gained a lot of, you know, perspective from the things that I've
gone through the ups and downs and the way that I carry myself. And so, yeah, last year wasn't,
I wouldn't say it was our best, best performance. But, you know, that's football. You have those
ups and downs and you learn from them and you continue to grow and you continue to learn from
these things. And, you know, if you play long enough, you'll have one or two seasons like that.
But the key is that you get back up and it's how you respond to things. And so I'm a lot better than
I was a few years ago. And I know that for sure. And this opportunity, you know, with this team,
again, the team that drafted me, you know, also a chance to showcase who I am and what I'm about,
not just, you know, to the fan base and to the people out there, but to my teammates, really,
and to the people in the building who I go to work with every day. That's what's important to me.
And so I can't wait to get back to the Florian Park and really get back to work.
It sounds nice. It really does. I don't like where you're going. He is, his optimism and his voice
coming back to a place that obviously was considered a failure for him, where he was drafted,
all that stuff. It does seem to set up to be a good story. It does. But can I just put out the warning?
The jets are really good at the offseason, really good at developing any type of optimism in the
offseason. Yeah. I just don't want people to get, and I don't want us to start creating this idea of
this is going to be great. Right? You know what I mean? I just, this sounds good.
But you're not going to get me. I'm not, I'm not going to do it. I'm not going to do it because
there's always the examples of the optimism and the excitement and then they start playing football
and you go, yeah, not any. So is he a better player than he was a couple of years ago? Like
he just said, is he excited? All these things are great. They're easily said right now.
But this is also a quarterback that does throw it to the other team a lot, maybe too much.
And it's also a quarterback that when he sees a blitz, he will turn tail and run. He is not ever
going to stand in the pocket. These are dangerous things. So they have to protect him.
And they've got to be able to also have a defense that can hold up. And also you'd like to have
someone. This is not going to be some high-powered offense. That's it. No, like you, well,
but I will say this, well, two things. One, you also will need someone else besides Brady Cook.
Because they, that's why I wonder how they're going to draft somebody too. Because you know,
is 35 years old. So assuming he's a normal 35-year-old, and this is a couple of games,
you're going to need that. The one thing I'd push back on is the offense. They do have
Breeze Hall coming back, obviously. I could see a world in which Garrett Wilson and
Breeze and Geno Smith work really well together. And you see a step in back in the right direction.
Find me a receiver on the other side to balance it out. I don't know why his garage is going to get
pulled. Listen, I got traffic. They got tons of money in front of the agency.
So we'll see if they're going to be able to do that. I just love the story. Give me a story.
You're right. Give me a story to follow. This is a very interesting story. And I know there are
people out there like Vinnie who's called us last couple days from satin island. They're the opposite.
They're more mad than ever. I'm not a Jets fan, but I have to watch the product they call
football every week. I personally, I don't know about you, Don. You're not a Jets fan either.
I will be more interested to watch them week to week because I'd like to see if Geno could
show something that would actually be you guy. And by the way, let's just let's not play games
here. This is New York City. This is the New York, the home of the New York Post. If this guy
balls out for three weeks in a row, get ready for this to become a story with legs.
They're people are going to look the possibility of a redemption. Yes. Is one is an indescribable thing
as sports. Yes, which is why I why I said, but I said after hearing them talk, you start nice.
You'll be idea of what a great story. He set it up. This is setting up. And you know, I told you
what happens next. Jets. The Jets happen next. And that's what I worry about. So I cannot be all in
on this. I can't get excited about this. Even though right now, this is generating some type of
thought, but it links are really going to be good next year. But really, but as much as you know,
and I get hammered by fans on social media, but I got an awful take, lose. The Thai
Butler's of the world, the Rick D. P. H. was of the world. You know, wanting the tank. I get the
one thing for you, Alan is if it does go sideways, then you're going to be able to draft your quarterback.
So you're kind of in a good spot where you might be entertained, but the worst case scenario is
you might end up with a top five pick and get the quarterback. And I told you I marked it down. I
don't know if we've got the sound. Anthony, what Rick D. P. H. was going to say. His response to me
was, well, I never said the players should tank. It's always their response. But how would you feel,
Rick, if you were a player, not getting full support from your organization? That's what he said
this morning. To be said is well, I'm not saying the players should tank. It's always their go-to.
I get the players want to win. Rick, what hockey team would you want to play for?
There wasn't all in on your success. That you're going out there, you're working, you're training,
you go into that crease to try to stop every puck and everybody in the organization is hoping you
fail. You wouldn't want to play for that team. Come on, man. Nobody else would either,
which is, which is all you have to at some point start to show that you're a functioning franchise.
I will say this, you know what my only optimism is right now? That's uh, I think we have a GM.
Yeah, you've been going with that and I like that. I like that. But if they stink, do you? No.
All right, it looks three and 14. You're not, you're not going to be in love with them.
I might tell me there's no coach. Well, but it also tells you that this general manager on his second
draft with tons of money and free agency built the team that again lost 14 games. What
intrigues you about this opportunity, Gino? You know, I've been, you know, watching these guys
through highlights, you know, I feel like for a bunch of years and watching Garrett, you know,
route guys up and, you know, just create separation, you know, watching Breeze Hall the way that he
runs the ball and braille in the way that he runs and the guys up front, you know, being a part of,
you know, coach ride system and being coached by coach Musgrave. I mean, all the things are there
and I'm just super excited to to be a part of this team and to once again, just meet the guys,
develop that camaraderie in the locker room and then, you know, go to work on the field.
Well, are you buying that? Well, no, because well, I actually am buying it because if you're spending
that much time watching jet highlights, it explains why he was so bad luck. It's like it osmosis.
He got worse just watching. He really, he watched more jets than I did like. Yeah, it's
wow. All right, Don on a Rosaberg's Big East Live broadcast from the Irish Exit.

I presented my Schweppes delivers above the river freshmen, feel the madness, and refresh your game
with a Schwepp Seltzer or Schweppes ginger ale. 12-9 St. John's is your score, obviously early
in the first. All right, I paraphrased Rick's retort, where I can't believe a professional
athlete would take the tack of tanking and here's actually what he said earlier. Oh, you have it.
You're not saying that Minka fits Patrick. You're saying as a fan of the team for you and for
the fanbase, in your best interest is for the Jets not to win games. What you just said is a
thousand percent true. Never in any moment of having our conversation about the Jets,
did I have the opinion as a player, right? Like, I mean, what do I, I couldn't get any of it?
Of course, I didn't want to sit there and bird. Like, if anything, like knowing how my career
turned out, I never ever would want to be bad because it didn't last as long as I thought it was
going to last. Of course, as a player or Aaron Glenn, you want to win as many games as you
get as possible. Like, Aaron Glenn wants to keep his job. These players don't want to start
burning seasons. The Mario Davis is what, 37. He doesn't want to burn a season, of course.
But, like, so what does that six wins turn into? Oh, it proves that you know what you're doing.
But does that six wins? Oh, but like, this is not the trajectory of sports. That's not how it
works. Sometimes it does. I mean, well, what did it mean for the Patriots? Two years ago when they
won four games. And then all of a sudden, turn around and end up in the Super Bowl. Was that because
they won four games? No, there was no bill to that. It was this coach stinks. Let's get a good
coach with a good offensive coordinator, spend a ton of money, and then you turn it on because
you had the quarterback. Same thing happened in Jacksonville. Same thing happened in Chicago with the
Bears. We don't have a quarterback yet. And I know the players aren't thinking that way. No,
there's a fan. Of course, they're not. That's their career. That's I'm not talking about my career.
I'm talking about my fandom in the 15 years of hell I've just gone through. And now what,
I'm going to be excited about Geno Smith winning six games to what end? To what end is to find out
do you have a coach? Do you have a general manager? Do you have an organization that knows what
it's doing? That's the point, Rick. I had just a positive byproduct of losing is I get a quarterback.
But I'm sorry, he talks about like he makes it seem like everybody tag. This is the only
first. It's the only way to win, Peter. The only way to win is throw seasons away and get the
quarterback. But the point is, if Jacksonville did do that for Trevor Lawrence, could you say it's
worked? What do they want? Like two playoff games of the time he's been there? I think the problem
that we're having here is the comparison to other franchises as if the Jets favorably compare.
The Patriots just had an epic run of 20 years of complete dominance. Then they were decent.
Then they hired a they got rid of the legendary coach. They hired someone who was not
experienced enough to do it. And they were bad. They get their quarterback with the third overall
pick. They get a coach who has blood in the ground who had success somewhere else. And of course,
it's going to turn around, right? But they've like, they had 20 years of being a dominant franchise.
So when you have a bad year, it's like, all right, you can live through it. The Jets, it's been
15 years, 16. Like you, this is not a, this is a unique situation that at some point,
you have to show that you can function because every year it just gets worse and worse. Every year,
it's this team is just an abomination. And two years ago, it was unfair to them. What happened
with Aaron Rogers? Because it looked like everybody was calling them a Super Bowl contender.
Everybody thought that defense could be elite. And Rogers could make this offense good. So a
couple of years ago, it felt like they were finally going to turn. And then the injury happened.
And everyone went, well, it's the Jets. These things happen to them. There's a reputation that
somehow, some way you have to, you have to exterminate, fumigate, and you can't do it by continually
wanting to lose, hoping for the savior to come in a draft that at 22 years old, because you don't
have the reputation the Patriots do. That's what my, you know, even though both the Bears haven't
won anything since 1985, you don't have the reputation the Bears do. You don't have the
reputation the Giants do where, you know, a hardball coming to the, hey, it's the, it's the New York
job. You know what it is? The best comp is the Lions. The best comp is the Lions. The Lions were bad
in the first year when, when, when, um, help me out, Dan Campbell took over. Yeah. They were bad,
biting his, and they were awful. Bad franchise never can win. Always got it wrong. They were
bad in his first year, but it started to turn. How did they, how did they solve the quarterback thing?
They made the trade. They didn't draft the quarterback, but they drafted well in other areas.
And then now the pressure is, don't you dare go back. This was, last year, we're supposed to be
the year they finally get over the top. It didn't happen. Two years ago, they got embarrassed
in the playoffs where they should have been dominant. The Peters team went in there and just
smacked them around. All right. That's where you start to worry about the trade. Did they max out?
Because they were another franchise that just could never get it right. That's more of the comp
for the Jets. All right. But, and also the, the way you talk about, well, that's the way to do it.
That's the way the Bears did it. That's the way Jacksonville did it. Well, it hasn't worked for
Jackson. Oh, it was the last time Jacksonville got to the suit. You know, and well, listen,
I think it's going to work out for the Bears. I do. We'll see. We're not sure. They can fall on
their face. It looked like it worked out for the commanders. I still don't know. But the Bears,
the Bears were able to get a basically complete no brainer coach. Like that. He was the most
desirable coach in Johnson. They got him and he's completely delivered. Yeah. That's not the
situation there is. The problem, Rick, is they just signed a coach last year, right? They already
did. They made a decision. They gave it one year. They need to see this through it. What are you
going to punt every single year? Yeah. So that's what that's what a lot of fans want. Because Aaron
Glenn in year one didn't show you any magic. No magic at all. And so because you know history,
you know your Jets history is that the minute you don't see magic early on, get rid of them.
This is a waste of time. We got to try somebody else. What they don't realize is that no one
else wanted the job. I don't know why I can't get this to anyone's head. He got the job because
no one else wanted it. No one with any credibility wanted this job. And they were able to get rid of
Mayo and rabble wanted the job. Of course he did. It's home for him. And it worked out. But
hey, I don't have a problem if you're a fan and you say, listen, I want to win. But hey, if we lose,
hey, the consolation prize is look at, look at that. We get to pick well. But at some point,
you got to start showing that you know what the heck you're doing, man. How is all the losing?
Let me ask you this, Rick. How is all the work losing worked out? Because you have lost. At
an epic level, that's all you do is lose. And yet how is it worked out for you? You get two quarterbacks
in the top three, one at three and one at two. You had to second overall big. You had the third
overall big. You traded up to get Mark's engine. We tried it your way for 50 years. That's a great,
it's kind of a mic drop. God, it'll be one thing if they hadn't done it that way so many times.
It didn't exactly work. No. Also, I'd like to say, the man gold game I thought this year was a
was a pretty special game. That like, it had to be. It had to be. But who was it? Was it a
where were they again? Where were they? I remember when he passed. I don't remember the game.
But it was it was that back. I believe it was a home game. No, it was but it was the back and
for. No, it wasn't. It was a road game. It was a back and forth game and they were down like
13 in the second half. What the way back here? I mean, I'm just saying it was a Cincinnati.
Cincinnati. Yes. Yes. They they they had a couple of I'm not saying they had they had
magic, but there are a couple of moments where they showed something. But then down the stretch
on this show, we said this week's important. Another opportunity to show something.
Dolphin game at home to me was the one where it's like, if you can't get ready for this game,
you you're a team can't be ready for this game. Then I got a question you as a coach.
And they laid an egg. Yeah. So I get why it's hard for people, but I still don't think you can
punt. Don honor Rosa Berg's big e-slive broadcast from the Irish exit of Moynihan train hall is
