All right, so ESPN is out with their 61 NFL insiders and analysts and their predictions for the upcoming season which starts tonight. Tonight is the Seahawks and the Patriots last year's Super Bowl. First time, I think since 2012 that last year's Super Bowl is the first game of the following season. Okay. Would you care to guess who they picked to win and list all the teams
that each analyst and reporter picked. But who do you think gets the most votes? I don't know. I'll tell you who it's not. Philly. Chiefs, no, AFC. Chiefs only get two of the 61 votes. Oh, the, and there, these reporters and analysts are all over the map. But the three teams I see that get the most are the Broncos bills, the bills. Yeah, I was going to guess them. And the Bengals really NFC. They did that too. The Rams get the overwhelming number of votes. Well, they're, yeah, they're stacked. Yeah. The Rams and then it's like the Lions, a number. Several have picked the Eagles and the Cowboys. Your Super Bowl winner. Only one person picked the Chiefs out of 61. I'm going to go Rams. Rams are the overwhelming favorite. Really? Yes.
Now, I hope they print that report off. And I hope that they highlight every vote that Patrick Mahomes didn't get. Yep. They put it on his front doorstep every day until the Super Bowl MVP. A ton of them are saying Joe Burrow. Okay. What? Yep. Okay. Josh Allen gets a number of them. Patrick Mahomes gets one. No, two, two. Two? Yep. Yep. You can doubt him. Yep. I think it's fuel. I it is. You go right ahead and doubt him. Well, and how many votes did Mo, did the Chiefs get two? I bet you the number two appears after some wins this season. You know, Patrick Mahomes, he's known to do those subtle little get back at you as he's counted to nine. He's counted to four. When I'm 13, I would print that entire list off and just highlight the two that picked me and put that up on my mirror. Yeah. A Florida high school football coach has been fired.
Three games into the season already. It's his first year leading this team first and last. Uh, yeah. Uh, it's a high school in Florida. They are on three to start the season. Okay. And the scores combined have been 166 for the other team. Oh, blesses are zero for his. Okay. They haven't scored a single point. Not one. Not one point. And he has been fired in his first season at the school. Is Florida second only to Texas in their just rabid thirst for football wins at that level at the high school level? Oh, yeah. Probably Texas is without a doubt number one. My cousin still lives in the Dallas area. And you would think it was a semi-proteam or slightly higher at the high school near her house. It is, it is a stadium.
It makes me happy if that is viewed through the appropriate lens that this is something that brings the community together, brings in a lot of money. Of course, it brings in money for the school that then they get new, you know, tech for classrooms. If it's done well. And the coaches are paid hundreds. Oh, thanks. Oh, yeah. Well, they are. Yeah. I mean, football is king in Texas. And when they tell you that, it's the truth. And by the way, did you see Sam? They have, they have outed. I don't know, I don't know what verb to use. They zoomed in once again on an attractive young woman in the stands at one of these games. Would you leave the women alone? Please. The college football trend is back with college football means that we have to identify exceptionally attractive women in the stands. All right, Musberg. This poor girl has gone viral and she is a beautiful young woman.
Oh, just just let them go enjoy the game. We have had one weekend of college football so far. One and a half if you don't count week zero. The one girl that has gone really viral is one of four that has been highlighted so far. I don't know if we need to tell these camera crews stop doing this. Obviously it's good for viewership otherwise they wouldn't keep doing it. Oh yeah, I mean a lot of guys are at home watching the game. The one girl that went mega viral, she already had a private Instagram page but that does not stop people from still trying to send her a message. harassing her. She's gotten one message that said quote, bankrupt me. Oh my gosh. 1500 red blooded Americans just decided to apply the Florida. 1500 red blooded Americans. Look at that. Just decided to apply to Florida. Stake up. Are you kidding me?
I thought that was Musburger. That was that was that was breakfast. Yeah, that was you throw the football around and maybe that someday it could be yours. Kids, kids you grab your dad and you grab that football and you go all back right now. Weirdo. From the text line, if you think those girls aren't hoping to be quote that girl, you're crazy. Well, no, I don't think at the point that you have to lock down your social because creepy men from around the world are DMing you know, that's so weird. It's very weird. I think it's a trend that needs to stop. You remember that is how Pamela Anderson was discovered. If you go back and look, she was, I don't know how old she was probably 19 or 20 in the stands at a college football game. And it was just that. I think they either panned over and saw her. I don't remember if it was a still photo or video, but from there, someone contacted her
and said you, you really should get into modeling. 1989, the stadium camera man zoomed in on her on the jumbo tron at LeBots in a LeBots beer t-shirt at the BC Lions football game in Vancouver. And look up the photo, Scott. She is just a normal, beautiful young girl. And I wonder if you asked her today if I could go back and change things. What I want that one in a billion moment where a camera guy zoomed in. Why wouldn't she? Because it wrecked her life. She went on to make millions and millions of dollars off of a stolen tape that was made privately on their wedding night. She made, she made money on Baywatch and she was in a handful of movies. I can't name a single one, but she was in movies. If you have not seen that documentary, I strong, the one that she participates in. Pamela and Tommy, I think. I think. Strongly urge you to watch that documentary. It changed every, it changed every opinion I thought I ever had about her.
Well, and maybe why is it only women? Maybe I want to be that guy. What guy? Hot mug shot guy. Hot mug shot guy. I want to go to a college game and go viral just because I'm good looking. Wow. One thing's highly of his own looks. I know, definitely not. Huh. A lead researcher at Adden Thropic, one of the world's leading AI firms said today he believes there is a more than 10% chance that AI could kill all humans within the next decade. You know, I saw this story in the stack and I thought, let's not, let's not. Whoa. He resigned today in protest. He says there is a better than 10% chance AI could kill all humans. His words not mine within the next decade. Quoting here, we really do believe AI could kill all humans. I personally think it is greater than 10% within 10 years.
Great. Good times. I'm telling you. I wonder why nobody wants to have kids anymore. I'm telling you, war games is starting to look more and more realistic. You've seen all the memes about, oh gosh, what's her name? Linda Hamilton. All of the memes about Linda Hamilton, where remember in Terminator, they put her in a loony bin because she was screaming about tech and the fact that the robots were going to take over the world. That movie came out in 1984, I think, a year after war games, the original Terminator. And then Terminator 2 came out in 1991 when they do come back. Yeah, yep. Am I wrong to be a little anxious? No, I think you're 100% right. Is it possible just to shut all of it down? We had Facebook five years ago without all of this discussion about AI and data centers.
Is it possible just to shut everything down? No. Why? The cat's out of the bag. First of all, you would have to have all of the countries agree to do that. I think China is going to do that. China, you go first. We're all just going to, on three, we're all going to shut down. Just like cutting out greenhouse gases. Who's going to be the first country to do it? Well, and forgive me for going sci-fi for just a moment, but I don't think it's really sci-fi anymore. I think it's the reality that we live in today based on all of the information that we have today. The issue is to shut it down now. We would have to shut down all internet servers period. There is no going back to Facebook. There is no going back to pre-algorithm because the way that we have designed this entity, because that's what it is. It's no longer an algorithm. It is an entity is to protect itself. Then let me rephrase the question, is there a way to slow it down? Not without unifying as a world against the big scary problem, and that's never going to happen. Okay.

CBS News, Kevin Reddington, the lawyer for Lindsey Clancy, said today he will ask for the case against his client to be thrown out. After hearing from a number of jurors in the case, Reddington telling CBS Mornings he will present a motion to dismiss on September 29th. And now some of the jurors, the 11 jurors, it was 11 to one. Some of the jurors in the 11 are now speaking out and they gave an interview to, I believe it was the NBC affiliate in Boston. Two of them dead. Yep. Sam, I think we have some of that audio to play. We do. Okay. While you're looking, while you're looking for it, Sam, just real quick, there was nothing
that either of those women said that shed any new light on any of this. He's going to bolt out. He admitted he had reasonable doubt after we watched that video of the interview. I think that's what it was. He admitted he had reasonable doubt. And I started filling out the forms. I was so excited. I actually, there were three forms I had to fill out. And I started filling them out. I wrote my signature on each one. And then he said, but I'm still not going to say that she's not guilty by reason of incident. He would not interact with us and try to understand. We read to him on numerous occasions the definition of a reasonable doubt from Judge Sullivan's instruction. He actually said one day in the end, why don't we have the judge coming and read it again. And we were like, no, we have it in front of us.
We don't need that. And we would highlight it. And so and so, this is the definition of a reasonable doubt. But he had the hardest time getting off of the fact that Lindsay viciously killed her children. What? Chase Louise. Where did you come from? He had the hardest time getting off of the fact that Lindsay viciously killed her children. How dare he? He had the hardest time coming to grips with the fact that she viciously murdered her shit. Like that sentence alone explains why he was like, no, there has, there has to be some punishment here. Do you buy the argument that some have positive that he was a rogue juror, a stealth juror, somebody who tells the lawyers what they want to hear so they can get onto a case with an already preconceived verdict. I don't think there's ever going to be an acceptable resolution to this case.
I don't. Huh. Okay. I don't care where they try it. I don't. You would not want to be on that jury. You would not want to be on that jury. No, I would not. I don't want to be on any jury. Ever. But if you had to list the cases that you don't want to participate in, this would not be one. This would be at the front and center. You do not want on this jury. There's chatter online that this juror had a calcium bed. There's no confirmation of that. I want to make that very clear. Oh my gosh. Very clear that there is no confirmation of that, but there is chatter online that he had to have some calcium bed. And that's why he held out. They're also taking the stance of, of course, one man had to come in and try to steal the rights from a woman. But what if that one man truly believes there, there has to be something, something has to be done or we are all going to live in a world where quote somebody snaps and we just go, well, and we've already seen that in one case and it's happening right now
in Chicago. So although I believe that mom's been, she's been charged. Well, so is Lindsey Clancy. But he had the hardest time getting off the fact that Lindsey viciously killed her children. I hear what she said and I think I hear what she's trying to say and she doesn't word it properly because they both, now I did learn a couple of things from this interview. Number one, they were so convinced that he was going to come off the fence, so to speak, that the four woman had already written up verdict sheets three different times inside them. You also learn in this interview that the verdict was going to be if he did come off the fence, it was not going to be a straight up acquittal. It was not guilty by reason of insanity. And I think God there's some, you know, semblance of reasonableness there that he held out. How many people Sam, honestly, and I talked to a buddy of mine about this a couple days
ago, he was the holdout on a jury in Kansas City. And he just said, you would not wish that on anyone. Pressure. My friend was the holdout. And in that case, this should make none of us feel good about the system under which we operate. He said, I understood the law. I understood the burden of proof and what the law says about it. And the prosecutor did not meet that burden of proof period. So everybody else was for guilt. Everybody else was for guilty. And when you looked at the law, they just didn't have the goods on this guy. He said it got to the point where people in that jury room here in town in Kansas City. We're saying things like, look, you know that even if he didn't do this, there's something else he has in his background. Would you want to live next to this guy? Was this a murder trial? It was not. Okay. Drug or weapons related. And he said, are you listening to the, he goes, are you listening to the words coming
out of your mouth? Well, they maybe didn't fervent in this case, but you know he's got something in his background. He's got something else in his life. Right. Well, I'm going to sleep just fine at night because I don't think this is a good guy. Well, he said, like, that might be the case. That's not what we're here discussing. But you guys make fun of me because I can't stand the jury system in the United States. I think it's wrong. I think it's the best that we have. I think a lot of the system is incredibly flawed. I'm sure these are one of them. I would not, if I was accused of a crime, that I did not commit and I knew I didn't commit it. The last thing I would want to do is entrust 12 people. I don't even know. Yeah. It was my future that say things like, you know, he's probably got something in his background. How many times do you think it's been said in a jury room? Listen, 11 of us think he did it. Yeah. You're the only one who thinks he didn't just come over and let's go home. I don't want to spend another eight hours tomorrow sitting in this room, trying to deal
with you. Yep. And how many of us would buckle under that? I'd like you're being bullied. I'd like to think I would not. I'd like to think it. But then what I'd be called a rogue juror for doing that, a stealth juror because I truly believed in this person's innocence or guilt. And now I'm a rogue juror. Maybe you're wrong. Maybe the 11 of you are wrong. You know, I always say that two things can be true at the same time. Like in almost every scenario, we could, we could use that in the stories that we bring you on Dane and Parks every day. When we come back, we have an update. Do you remember the Missouri license plate caused an uproar because people said this is racist. There is a racist among us. You got to get rid of your license plate. Someone tracked down the driver. Someone did their job as a reporter and when we get back, we're going to tell you what is the intent behind the plate that Scott has been in their family since the 1970s?
Before we go to break, whether updates him, KNBC 9 News reporting severe thunderstorm morning for Cass Jackson Johnson and Lafayette counties in Missouri through 6 p.m. Quick break 913 5 8 6 7 7 9 8 here on Dane and Parks. Sam before Danny gets to our next story, can you give us that weather update again real quick? Yeah, I'm looking over at the channel line right now and it appears to have been extended. Cass County, Jackson County, Missouri Johnson County, Missouri Lafayette County, Missouri, all under thunderstorm severe thunderstorm warning. Some counties until 6 p.m. Other counties until 6 15. We first told you about this Missouri license plate the other day. And if I saw it, if I'm being honest, if I saw it in traffic, I'd probably be like, oh, you sure about that one? We now know the meaning behind it.
And I said the other day, I have a feeling this is going to be familial, not racist, but familial. And it is a Missouri man has now changed his license plate following reports that it contained a derogatory term. The family name, I'm just going to say it once, the guy's name is Stephen Martchenk. Martchenk, okay? He is 73 years old. They have had that license plate since 1979. His last name is Martchenk. Yep. And that is the nickname they have gone by for years. Is that name minus the mark? Correct. Okay. He says he is one of seven brothers. All of them were called that growing up. It was his father's nickname as well long past away, right?
It's just always been a thing. Every since I can remember, he says we never thought we never imagined this was any kind of slur. How do you not know that? Well, I, yeah. I mean, if I saw, again, if you saw that in traffic, you, you'd probably go. It's a slur for Asian people. It is. So, they have turned it in. He says they recognize that the word has another very derogatory meaning. It certainly was not the case with our family. This is our name. It was never used derogatory Lee and they have changed their plate. Good. It's a slur. I'm sorry that the nickname everybody in the family went by is a slur. But it is part of their name. What if that was their actual last name? Yeah. I'm sorry, but you can't be on a plate. Your last name is offensive to some people and it's considered a slur.
He also said there were times like his brother with grandchildren in the car was getting flipped off by other drivers. And so, you know, at that point, I'm being on, I'm surprised it took them this long to be like, you know, maybe we should, even though everyone around town knows this is our name, maybe we should rethink this. But that's the story behind it. And I thought it was going to be. But there was a Kansas plate that drew controversy in Southern California because it wasn't even a custom plate. It was just a random one that they were just given. The letters. The letters J A P. Uh-huh. And I believe that license plate was recalled by the state of Kansas. It was. It was a different one. Somebody says on the text line, that is insane and stupid. Listen, their name is not the five letter word that starts with a C and ends with a K and rhymes with rink. That's not their last name. That apparently, according to the family, is a nickname that everybody in the family
goes by might be as meter starting to go off. I'm sorry. Everybody in the family goes by the same nickname. They've had the plate since 1979. They just re up that personalized plate every year. And now they've gotten rid of it. I think I don't know that there's any other option. So from the text line, I call BS. If it's part of your last name, get over it. Well, but I feel like I could think of some other examples that I'm not going to share. But sometimes words are not considered necessarily. Well, let me rephrase. Because words are created, especially during wartime with an enemy that is of a different race primarily, for the sole purpose of dehumanizing them. And I get it. I understand it. But I use this example with Dana. Japan is known as Nippon. NIPP O-N. There is a derogatory term to refer to Japanese people that contains half of that word, the
first three letters of that word of the name of their nation is Nippon. Okay. He told me this during a break, Sam. I had no idea when in fact, when you were trying to explain the word, I thought you were trying to say a female, well, may have bought it or two, but breast. Yes. Anyway, that became a derogatory term primarily, but maybe not exclusively. Maybe during World War II to describe Japanese soldiers or just Japanese people. What if your last name was NIPP? My first thought would be Nippon, and why would you want that in a license plate? Well, it's my family's last name or that's my nickname. I would... I'm not saying I would change that name, but I... You know, I mean, there are certain names when you hear it. It's like, okay. Oh. Dr. Richard Pound. Yeah. I mean, at some point, do you not say, okay, like someone thought this was funny, however,
many years ago, but like... Richard Breedlove? Kids are now getting bullied, right? So let's... Yeah. But... Is there anything wrong with just changing your family's name? I don't think there is. People do it all the time. I would bet. Especially if it has... Yes. Anything questionable? Or if your... Like, if your family's last name is notorious for somebody else doing something really bad. Or a body part. I would say, you do you. Go change your name. There is a quarterback in the NFL whose last name is Penix, P-E-N-I-X. I probably would have changed that one. What if your grandfather was proud and it means something to your family? Your last name is Penix. I know. I'm just saying, like, I think it has to be up... It has to be up to each individual. And if it sounds like a body part, you always have to think Scott about the second grader. My heart goes out to the eight-year-old that is growing up with that.
Who's going to be made fun of? Yeah. Now, this young man went on to become an NFL quarterback and his... Has the last laugh, right? He's a starter. But do you think for a minute that when he was eight years old, seven years old, his friends... Or let me rephrase, classmates didn't call him Penis? Of course they did. No. I mean, well, but that applies to anybody with the name Richard or last name Johnson. But you know what? That's kind of a couple of Johnson's and great school. Has that not... Has that not... Has that not kind of... That name... Maybe not. I don't know how high up the ladder. Richard is. It's sort of like Linda and... Julie. Yeah. It was a name for our generation and the generation before us. Yeah. Pam. Pam, yeah. Louise. 913-586-7798. If you guys want to weigh in. Okay. What about Seinfeld and the Asman play?
Oh, various. Very funny. I don't think you can have A55, by the way. I think that's one of the ones that the states have flagged. What about As Kicker? Probably not. Hmm. What if you really are an As Kicker? We had one personalized play in the family for a brief amount of time. You had to write, and I did it right down here at Johnson Drive for Markway. You had to write down what is the meaning behind this. And in our case, it was extremely obvious. Well, it was not a clear play, right? It contained my daughter's name. And so it was very obvious. Here's her driver's license. This is what we're doing. So I don't know unless you lie, how you get something like that past the screeners. Well, this particular plate we're talking about would have been easy to pass. You would have just written down, it's my nickname. The screener looks up, says, okay, your name is Marchink. You're good to go. You're good to go. What is the purpose since you have one of a vanity plate?
I don't know, they're cool. You think they're cool. I think it's fun. Like I now forever, I will have a license plate that says six foot sand that I can hang on my wall. Yeah, you put it on your wall. Hmm. You know, people collect those, Scott. I don't, I've never understood it, but you could. I'm getting the custom one in Missouri too. You go to like antique stores and like people sell license plates. I don't. No. Some of them just license plates. Why? Because they have no idea. Okay. Now I did see one in my neighborhood today and it's an older Kansas plate and actually it's two older Kansas plates and they used it as the roof of a bird house. Okay. And that was kind of cool, I thought. Yeah. You know, it's an old plate. You can't use it anymore. So make the roof of a bird house out of it and you know, nine, one, three, five, eight, six, seven, seven, nine, eight, five, eight, six, seven, seven, nine, eight. Here on Dane & Parks.

Gucci, Gucci. I think I was going for hoopla. I think I was going for hoopla. I don't know. Oh my God. Okay, Sam. Just happy I was able to find it again. Are you? Are you? No. It's okay. I'm going to go to Mike in Carney. Mike, good afternoon. Hello. Hey guys. My oldest boy when he got his first car, he got personalized plates and it was B-A-W-S. We are in a small town and the cops actually went to the DMV because it's privately owned DMV and complained to the lady that runs it, that they need to pay attention to what kind of plates they're letting out because they thought it was like a play on words for like basketball balls. It's B-A-W-S. Blake Austin Woodrow Sweet is his name. Oh, it was his initials or an acronym? It's his initials, yes. And why was that a, I'm confused. We don't need him to spell it out or say it again, but they thought that it was a play
on words for B-A-L-L-S. Really? And it's his initials. Okay. Just for the sake of playing Devils Advocate. Sure. I mean, I'm not disagreeing. I'm just trying to play Devils Advocate because obviously dude, get over it. It's been a term for a long time, long before the 70s. I had a principal one time named Richard Long. You want to know what name he went by? No, I don't. Scott. There was a NASCAR driver, Richard Trickle and he did not go by Richard. Okay. But like the Noah character who plays college sports, not even going to, please. Please not. Don't even take that as a last name. Yes. Could he put that on a license plate? No. No. And you know the announcers are trying real hard every week not to say his last name. You know. That's a great throw by it. Even though, no, for the touchdown.
It might be your name. That license plate is issued by the state. You don't have the right to put anything you want. Wait. Now you're making my point formal on that plate. Are you not? Yeah. I'm just saying it. Even though you have a good explanation for it, does not mean they have to greenlight it. 913-586-7798. Andy in Kansas City. Andy, hello. Hey Scott. Yeah. Just calling into a, agree with your point. I think that family knew pretty well that their nickname was a racist term. And I'm sure they thought it was funny to be for their buddies to call the white guy. We got it. We got it. We got it. And so I agree. And I give props to this marching for finally stopping the license plate, cutting it down. Yeah. And I find it, Andy, extremely hard to believe that they didn't know that their nickname,
even if it dates back 70, 80, 90 years, I don't care. What he said, we've never had a problem with it before. Well, I find that hard. Where are they from? Like, what part of Missouri are they from? Like, I mean, if it's a small town with not a lot of agents, they probably can say that however they want and not have to worry about it. And they probably thought it was funny to call the white guy. At the point that people are flipping you off in your car when you're grandchildren or with you, do you not go, okay, you know, let's pry time. Why are we getting the middle finger everywhere? We get a middle finger. I'm using my turn signal. Is it? Stan in the least summit. You get the last word. Hello. Good afternoon, guys. So you guys touched on selling license plates, old license plates? Yeah. And in the state of Missouri, I had a 1979 RX-7. I bought Pobby 5 or 6 years ago. I found a 1979 old red Missouri license plate. You go to the DMV, they check the number and the, you know, that's on that license plate. And as long as it's not in use, I actually registered my car with that license plate and
drove around that 79 RX-7 with a 79 license plate on it. Well, that's pretty cool. As long as no one's using the number. Exactly right. Huh. I don't know if you can do it in Kansas, but you can in Missouri. Okay. Somebody says, is this not a violation of freedom of speech? No. Driving is a privilege.
