We were just talking about the locker room reaction when Justin Herbert is doing this PDA session with Madison beer on the practice field and what the locker room would say. What do you think the locker room was saying when they found out in San Francisco that their owner was caught trying to get a prostitute in a trailer park in Ohio? Wow. So that's your question. Yes, it is. Yeah, it is. Yeah. I basically probably had a little chuckle and all that and it was it's over and that's it. They don't think about it again. The players. They don't think so unless they seem they might walk by me go there. There's a guy there, you know, yeah, but yeah, I it's got to be tough for him to walk

1:01back into that situation, right? He's got a strong. I don't know how prevalent he really is around. No, you know, he is kind of like a like a distant owner doesn't get he's the owner that every coach wants. Right. I'm not making those in it. Right. And let's John Lynch and Mike. Kyle Shannon knows the subject. He's on the trip to Australia. I would say no. Oh God, no. Why would you want to sit on the plane and you know, every time we walked down the plane? No, that would be a tough one. Okay. I'm not trying to be funny here. I just find it. And you know what I heard about this and whatever and it's okay. There it is and I'll never think about it again. Really? Yeah. I think about these things a lot. You know, once it happens, I'm thinking I've noticed that over the years, you do wise. You doing that is at a gay prostitute. Maybe that's the reason why these are the things about it. I don't know, but it would make more sense to me if it was because then it'd be like, you know, you're a billionaire. You feel like you get a woman anywhere.

2:02But if he's a closeted guy, maybe he's trying to do the backhanded dealings with the gay prostitute. That's what I thought. Okay. You hear that drilling? Yeah, that's nice. It's really a high-end studio. It is. All right. So you'd say you'd have a chuckle about it if you're in the locker room and then you wouldn't think about it. Yeah, you'd let it go. Because the locker room is tough as it is. In other words, it's tough in however by action. It's really fun, but it's very serious, too, of course, because three quarters of the locker room is worried about their job. That's exactly right. So. And at the end of the day, they'll probably have fun. It has expense behind his back. Yeah. And maybe they wouldn't get upset with him if he ends up getting cut or they don't want to give a certain player a contract or something like that. That also could exacerbate the problem, but I would say that most of the players probably had a good laugh at his expense. I'm sure they did. Yeah. I didn't make calls. And it says, look, I haven't even seen Jed York. I haven't seen them at all.

3:02He hasn't been around. I know. Well, I think that's one of the things while they, I hate to say it this way, too. They do so well. There's no intruders out in San Francisco. It's the coaching staff, the people that help them and whatever and the players. They just get guys hurt all the time, which is amazing. The injury deal and it took the injuries around the league. I'm just astounded every day because I just don't remember. Yeah. Of course, when we played and on that, you just never hurt so much about injuries. And in John Harboh said that, you know, we get you lose a guy. It feels like it's the end of the world. Yeah. And you talk about injuries, you know, our old friend Daniel Jones is coming back off another injury. Right. And, you know, I don't necessarily know that they're projected to win that division. I think Houston still is, but I think that quarterback CJ Stroud is under huge pressure to perform this year, especially after what happened to him in the playoffs. Yeah. If they'd just kneeled on the ball for like two quarters, they were going to win. Yeah. And, you know, I think I would actually say this about Houston watching him last year.

4:03They could win the Super Bowl. I'm watching the game going just fall on the ball or just take a knee, run. Why are we keep trying to throw it? I felt like they had, I felt like they had the best overall defense in the league last year. Boomer, I would hate to play their defense. Yeah. I think they have a chance to go to Super Bowl win this year. I think the defense is that good. And you know, who they got open in week. Josh Allen's got to go down there. He's got to go down there. Let me tell you, and he doesn't play well down there. Hell no, because that defense is fast, ferocious. That defense in Minnesota. Okay. Give him to me once a year. But that's all I want to see of him. Yeah. You mentioned the pressure that is on CJ Stroud. And Josh Allen right now, I think, has looked at as the best quarterback in football. There was a coaching change. They've got a new stadium. He's right in the middle of his prime. I feel like this is a big Josh Allen year when it comes to his legacy and everybody's going to be looking at him. And sometimes that's not fair.

5:04But he's making the money and he is the guy and he's an MVP. He's got to get to the Super Bowl this year. Doesn't he? Doesn't he have to get there? Well, I think everybody's saying that and I understand why you do say it, but I would just, it never even occurred to me to think that they have a Super Bowl roster. You know, like what did I say to the one of the first saying, I just said, hey, the league is about big people right now. I mean, big people, just incredible. And when I look at them, just in preseason, but just knowing their team, I go, they're small. Still. I believe in it, they drafted for years. We just want speed guys. And that's great. But I look at your defensive line and just go, wow, it's pretty, you know, there's not enough meat up there. They get pushed around. They can get one on and they win because of, you know, his magic and all that. So if you think this is going to be a special year for Josh Allen, I don't, I don't quite see it that way. By the way, you know, this is like one of the tougher opening games of the season to figure out because nobody really knows what to get.

6:05They're going to get Nico Collins back for Houston. They didn't have in the playoffs last year, but everybody wonders whether or not Buffalo's defense is good enough. That's what I mean, the quarterback is so spectacular that he makes so many things go away. So many problems go away. But ultimately, you know, that team has got to live on turnovers and then he's got to convert those turnovers into touchdowns. Well, the head coach, you know, whatever, the coordinator now to Josh Allen, I can't, oh, who's the decordinator? I'll top my head. Leonard Pat Leonard. No, Jim Leonard. Jim Leonard. So he's a tough guy. I'm not related by the way. Yes, I'll not. Hard to think so. But yeah, that's going to be interesting. He's the defense of coordinator with this unit. What's he going to do to really what's going to be the thought that he gives that defense that's going to make him better? Well, I mean, the favorites for the AFCs, would you say them are the Patriots? Well, yeah, one of those two, sure.

7:05Yeah, but I mean, are in your eyes are they the favorite to win the division? I would say I would take the Patriots. You would take the Patriots. Yes. Man, it's going to be a rock. If the Buffalo Bills don't win the division and go out in the first round this year, I mean, Brandon Bean can't like survive any longer, Kenny. I mean, for God's sakes, he's the one who's putting this roster out there. McDermott is the scapegoat last year. I mean, if they with Josh Allen and his prime, a bomb out this year, that's got to be a full regime change. I mean, they've gone through scapegoat after scapegoat after scapegoat, you know, it's Leslie Frazier. Yeah, when they lost the Kansas City championship game. Oh, you know, that was their Super Bowl team. Yes. They were, Kansas City was at their height of, oh, they're high flying. You can't beat them. They've got them beat. Yeah. And they let them score with 13 seconds left to tie. Honestly, some of the worst decisions in history, not, I'm not going to say history,

8:07but that that was huge. What they did and how they defended the play didn't kick it off, run the time off the clock. And they protected the sidelines. Well, this is God name. Kelsey, that goes down the middle two times and they kicked the winning field. What happened there? The other team out there that's going to be really interesting. It's going to be Sean Payton's then for Broncos because they two have a top tier defense. Yes. Bone nicks gets hurt going into the playoffs last year. Jared's did him has to play the Patriots beat them. I mean, you know, a lot of things happened right for the Patriots. What is it? You know, I watch a lot of TV. Unfortunately, I said it my desk and I'll put all the sports shows again every day. And I listen. And, but the bone nicks, they just like, well, you know, he's not that good. It's all I hear. Do you want? I mean, come on. What do you want him to do? He's dynamic throwing the football down the field. He runs around. He's a big damn dude. He's kind of like Jackson. Start for them. Yeah.

9:07Yes. That's a really good analogy. Thank you. But I think he's a little more mobile at this point. You know, he they get him outside the pocket a lot. They have nothing that seems like I always tell my son Matt. He goes, well, what do you think? I go Sean Payton once again has found 50 different ways to throw the football 40 yards down the field. That's what I always say. Yeah. John Payton coaches him tough. Yeah. Oh, of course, that's who he is. Yeah. Well, you either you either got to, you know, play for him and play the way he drew breezes in here with us. He was just to say that. Yeah. Yeah. Sean was pretty tough on him. I called Sean. I was going to do a game down there and was late at night. I just had to know something. So I said, I'm going to call him. It's too late. It's 11 o'clock. And on a Thursday and phone rings. Yeah. Hello. It's Phil Simpson. Hey, Phil, how you doing, man? What's going on? And this is, you know, I go, I'm thought maybe he goes, oh, no, I got the whole staff in here. We got her feet up or having a beer. And we're just trying to come up with some new stuff. You got anything? The shocking part about that story is you were up at 11 o'clock.

10:07And jeez. Well, it was a different part of my life. I'm going to be on the back then. I have to ask you about that. I think one of the bad decisions, and I liked a lot of the decisions that were made by both the jets and giants in this off season. One of the bad decisions was not having an adequate backup plan for Geno Smith in a year that Aaron Glend S is in the jackpot. Because if Geno Smith goes down for any amount of time or plays like he did last year, here we go again with another guy who shouldn't be on the field in a jets uniform at the quarterback position. And then we have another head coach and a whole hamster wheel of turds starts again. Do you think that Kate Klobnik could go in and win some football game for the jets if needed this year? It would be this way that if he does have to play, it would be extremely conservative. And they would do with him in a bigger scale than they tried to do during the whole preseason. If you watch it, it's a lot of play action, move the pocket throw a short boot. Let's throw a couple screens all of a sudden you're five for five for 14 yards.

11:10But you know, the whole damn league does that with these young quarterbacks. So you know, and whatever he faced, like let's take the giant game. The giant game got a little rough with their backup. So they were all over it. And you could see there's a little difference in Kate Klobnik at that time. Well, he's also playing with guys they had played with and you know, he's out there and he's it's a whole different set of circumstances than playing with the number ones. Right. Well, they didn't play the number ones much at all. Well, his first preseason game he played well. Yes. Everybody was talking with OK too. But it's the third one. The giants rough them up a little. But what he faced there, you can't even you know what boomer you know, of course, we know it. That different unit, the starting defenses with game plans. Man, that's rough. So that would be my thought on it. I know right away seven man protections play action passing, rolling in guys out that you know, that's how you protect the young. Yeah, you do. But the defense is going to they're going to get to hang of that really quick.

12:10Yeah, but I mean, it's saying you're not going to be sending five guys out. That's for sure. No, but I heard you talking about it a little bit and everything and it's true. But right away they're in camp what three days K club Nick K club Nick behind. What? And you know, I like him. I saw him throw one day, he came up by my house. I went over and stood behind watching my family's and he's a good looking thing. You know, he's six three. You know, what do you have to do? Good, good, good looking. You're big and thick. He's got that. He stands behind guys and just checks out how thick they are. It's just one of those things that like jet fans and I understand why and Brown's fans the same thing when they get a young unknown player who they haven't seen play yet, they still dream that he could be the guy. So it happens year after year after year. And it's really not fair to Kate club Nick to put those type of expectations on him when you know, he guys a day two draft pick. It draft him number four. Overall, you drafted him in the fourth round. Well, what you do to me, you really working hard, do all that stuff, but you have a guy

13:14like you're saying that if something does happen to Gino, we know we have a veteran back up who's been in some wars and can get the best out of our players. You cannot expect that from a rookie coming in doing what they asked him to do and how much of they gone forward since the preseason games. Well, nowhere. It's all about Gino and they're getting them ready to go now. Well, man, I just hope that you know, it doesn't go down the Aaron Rodgers thing first game. Oh, forget it. 14:15He was under him. Browse was really hot out. I was talking to him for a good half hour 40 minutes. And I had no clue who he was. I get home, look at the highlights and look at the pictures. She's like, hey, I met the guy. I go Kelly. I go, that's Phil Sims. We're the old time giants greatest. You kidding me? I don't know who that is. I remember. Yes. It's really it's embarrassing. But I go watch the seven on seven. I sit in a stance. I have to sit under an umbrella because damn that son. You know, I'm good for us. Definitely not. So yeah, so I hate doing it, but I always take it. The nice older man under the nice old man. Well, she was right. He was right. I'll take a quick break. You're rocking chair with the Attour now. This is how the morning started discussing the Yankees when the big man was back. Listen to this crowd. I kept them as back, everybody. He's standing in this entire place. Yes, he did not say penis in the middle of that. That was a Rami clip. But yeah, no, that was Aaron Judger's back. He did go over three, but but but. The Yankees did get a big one over the Rockies five to three because the guy who replaced him did this. Trying to get something done here. Swing on, that'll do it. Deep right field. Lot of carry on the track.

16:17Goodbye. Eat them up. Go to three man, Homer. That was very late. Ramos again, Dave Sims here on the fan. Ramos replacing judge and right field judge. Six innings. Oh for three as we mentioned, but the Yankees do win five to three first tears judge. Well, well, you know what? I'm going to play this instead. So the Yankees win. Schletler was really good again. The Yankees have now as an organization had 34 consecutive winning seasons. Judge was asked about that in the post game and he had a very Yankee like response. Or the Yankees, you know, we're going to win. So that's, that's a great street, but I think everybody in the rooms worried about that champion. Which they have not won in a long time. The way the question was posed with you rather be a winning team every single year for 34 years or, you know, win a world series once in a while and have a lot of downtime too and a lot of down years. And every year, man, sell out, enjoy the season. You just never know. And you know, they're getting healthy now in September.

17:18That's the key. And that will be the key for every team. And whether or not the Dodgers are going to be quite as healthy because they're, you know, kind of sitting show a ton of little bit now. They're not pushing him. You're just going to win games again. No, no, no, simply. I mean, they, they, it's, it's a collision course between these two teams. Unless somehow Milwaukee or Tampa Bay or Philly or Philly. You think the Braves are now. I picked the Philly's go to the world series. You did. Yes. Yes, I did. Yankees stay four games behind Tampa in the A at least as the raise did breed the beat the brave seven to one junior Caminero had his 39th home run of the season. And that game, Freddie, Peralta, six innings for the win. The Metz beat the Marlon seven to five. That series continues tonight with Robert Stock on the mound. Will Warren pitches for the Yankees later tonight. I want to get to see, I'm going to go to the college football here. CBN Sports Network. I'm sorry. I'm kind of jumping ahead. But a couple of things I found from college football. Some nice pieces of audio. So Rutgers is going to make a change at quarterback.

18:18They're going with AJ Sirace on Friday night at BC. We know about that game. And we'll talk more about that on Friday, the September 11th game. But in terms of Rutgers, just because these clips were pretty good, great. Shiong yesterday was asked about the UMass loss. What have these last few days been like and how have you seen the team response? The loss that you guys had on Thursday night? Yeah, look, I'm not naive to the fact. You know, we laid an egg. We were the national punchline. Yeah, it's embarrassing. And then he would go on and say, that was really bad. Embarrassing that we coached and played the way we played. And it starts with me and ends with me. It's my job to get them ready to play. We didn't do that. But that's in the past. That was whatever many days ago. He said, can't run from the loss. Got to just learn from it and move on. So they will move on to a road game Friday night at Boston College. Now, we've talked about the SEC and LSU this morning. Tuesday, the SEC amended its federal lawsuit and disclosed that the conference presidents and chancellors would meet Thursday to consider terminating LSU's SEC membership.

19:22Probably not going to happen, but okay, that was the story yesterday. So they found Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana. Oh, this guy's great. And he reacted to that news. It's bone deep down to the marrow stupid. I've got rocks in my driveway that are smarter than that. So, my thing would go on to say, LSU is going nowhere. They're not going to throw LSU out of the industry. Let me tell you something. I had a lot of other people in the United States Congress. We'll be on them like a hobo on the hamstand. There's two hobos. And then lastly, LSU is fine. LSU hadn't done anything wrong. It's called a quarter of a hawk. God made course to the side dispute. Are you serious?

20:23I was in a bingo night by the way. What's going on in the background? It was a very odd setting. I would agree. So you did have that. It's probably at the Capitol. No, I know, but it just, it sounded weird and it looked even weird if you actually saw it. All right, a couple of things from the NFL. We've got the Patriots and the Seahawks. Later tonight from Seattle, the Seahawks winning the Super Bowl being New England back in February. So a rematch of sorts. Then tomorrow night, you've got the Niners and the Rams from Australia. No, Aaron Donald in that game did not travel with LA. He did big contract, a Baker Mayfield, three years, $165 million from the Bucks. And he got it. I guess he said once the season began, no negotiations. So they got in with the extension right before the season did it begin. Geno Smith, couple from him. He's a veteran now. Takes nothing for granted. He is a team captain for the Jets Jets. We'll start in Tennessee on Sunday. I find myself just looking forward to each and every day coming to work and, you know, giving him my all, you know, for these guys. And so it's really special to my family and I.

21:26And we look forward to, like I said, every single day. And then there was Garrett Wilson, who's not a captain this year at a very mature take on it. I don't know if obsessed the word. It's more of like, man, we got, we got a collection of guys that all warrant that, that label. And Geno got it for the offense. Now I play, remember the Gary V. clips I played earlier. Yeah. Yeah. And then I played with the guy who was a great, the Jets had it won on a season opening Sunday, week one Sunday in 11 years. If you look on social media, he got into it pretty good with a fan who I guess misunderstood the whole week one Sunday and gave a couple of examples of games they did win on Monday nights or Sunday nights. He called one a Jaff. You can figure out what that means. The other guy called him a butt wipe. So interesting. It kind of went back and forth. Yes, as they misunderstood one another and then Sunday night, Jets and Cowboys, a game that Phil is very much into. Here is as we found out and more from him in a moment, Jerry Jones on the fan and Dallas.

22:28He is hoping for a big, big year from his Cowboys. It's kind of like cooking it up. You got it, the ingredients here. Let's see how it comes together. And I'm excited. I'm excited for our fans. It's important that we have some good things happening. Yes, it's been a rough stretch having up into the NFC championship game in forever. So you do have that and that game will be Sunday night. And then lastly, US Open. So this match started at around 11.05 pm and ended at 3.33 in the morning. Ben Shelton beat the defending champion Carlos Alcaraz and five sets. Here was Shelton on ESPN after the match. He goes kind of late. I'm just hoping that my best friend and my sister over there don't have to be at work at 6 am in three hours. It'd be huge from their employers to let them have the day off today. But then the video pans to Trinity Rodman, his girlfriend. And you can see her say, but what about me? He doesn't mention her in that. But he did advance. He will face Frances Ciafo in the semi finals.

23:29And Jessica Pagula beat Emma Navarro in three sets. She has reached the US Open. She gets the defending champion Arena, Sabah Lanka. All right. Moment of the day. So Phil Sims is in studio. It's only fitting that he is featured in Moment of the day. Last hour, he relayed a story of his past meetings with Mr. Jerry Jones. I'm walking down the street in New Orleans. He's there just to watch the game years ago when the lights went out. And there's a big white bus. I mean, it's huge. And I go, well, look at this. We're walking back to the hotel and I see the cowboy star. And I see Jason Garrett and everybody getting off the bus. And then all of a sudden, we're kind of my wife and I on a couple were with. We look at the door on the truck and Jerry Jones standing in there and go, Phil, come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Dan, come on. Let me make you a drink. You know, Jones making me a drink. I mean, I just, I'm just that happened many times. First, the Super Bowl, he's in. He comes and practice. I'm watching the Cowboys. He goes, oh, feel like so excited.

24:31He goes, just pinch me. And I said, well, how about I just slap the hell out of him? And I swear, I said that. I really said it worse than that. And he goes, let me go now. Yeah. Here we go. There you go. A moment of the day. It's the Boomerangio podcast from WFAN. Hi, Boomerangio on the fan and CBS Sports Network Phil Simms in studio for a few more minutes. So two guys that we have heard a ton about that we're hoping are major impact players and right away for both the Jets and Giants. More Valarice and David Bailey. So what have you seen early on from them in camp that either get you excited or maybe makes you think that they need some more time? David Bailey, you know, whatever, I didn't go to any jet practice, whatever. So I started watching him during the preseason games and I'd watch every play when he's in there. And when he had the opportunity on third down or whatever, it's passing situation, wow, can he go around the corner? I mean, it's, it's special.

25:31And you know, he played in a Texas tech, of course, they'd landed a lot and he took advantage of it. What do you have? 14 sacks his last year and everything. So it's everything that I think they thought he would be. I see it. I've seen it so far in the preseason games. So I expect to see it when he when he plays against the Tennessee Titans. A little bit easier to play. I'm going to say easier defensive and then it is like a stand up outside inside linebacker and get screwed up with offenses, especially in offense like the Dallas Cowboys. So our Val Reese, I mean, freak of nature athletically looks the part, the whole bit. But when you're the stand up linebacker in the middle of that football field, I mean, you can get lost at times. And there's going to be things he's going to have to learn and it's going to be a baptism under fire. Yeah, it's really interesting. Of course, he's another one. You know, these guys, you know, just may I get amazed by the talent and the skill that they come in the league and our Val Reese, John Harball was sitting there talking to us

26:34a little bit and he goes, oh, his weight's even they can roll up the bill because he's explosive by being inside Boomer. We don't say that too often in the pro football world. Yeah, he can go outside, make those tackles. He can crash the line of scrimmage and get it done. He's fasty, you know, but there's a learning curve when you're off the ball, as opposed to when your hands in the dirt like David Bailey, one of the players want to ask you about and, you know, we haven't heard a lot about him at all dorm preseason. We heard a lot about him in the off season, especially when he attacked his quarterback and that was Abdul Carter. And you know, all of a sudden, quiet off season gone about his business. You see a marked improvement in him from last year. Yes. Last year he turned it on late in the year. Everyone got benched in the first quarter of that game for him. Yeah, that'll do it, you know, a little motivation. But yeah, he's, when you watching me, you know, I just go wild. They made the right pick when it was their turn the year before.

27:34He shows off everything that you want, you know, and Tivado too, you know, he's a guy that shows up every once in a while in the games, the preseason games, but he shows up in practice also. So the Giants, I'll be as a fan. I'll be disappointed if they're front seven or whatever you want to say doesn't play well because they have size and they definitely have the speed to compete with any football team right now. What about Malik neighbors that we're going to see him play week one? Man, that would be awesome. I don't know. They, I've heard nothing that makes me think, but you're watching workout and all that stuff. And I saw him a lot working at practice. You can't tell that he ever got, he was hurt or anything was bothering him because he was running full speed, cutting full speed. And man, I hope he does get a chance to run in cutting full speed. That means mentally he's over the injury. Good point. Yeah. Right. I mean, I, I would think you would hold back as opposed to really letting it go and maybe, maybe they're worried. Maybe they think another week. I, I just can't imagine that. I think I got to have mouth there.

28:36Yeah. You know, as I just sitting here today, you were talking, I looked at the depth of the wide receivers for the Giants. I go, wow. I mean, come on. Are they going to put six tight ends in there? We need five receivers. Yes. So I keep waiting for the waiver wire. Maybe something's going to happen, but it's, it's too late for that too. So I, I guess just talking about this and looking at what they got, there's a pretty good chance we might see in Malik neighbors. Yeah. And we forget how many games that Jackson, Darden, Malik neighbors didn't play in together last year. And those guys getting off to a great start and building that chemistry is imperative. For this offense, where do you stand at, but the, with the running back room right now with the, with the Giants? You know, it's working progress. You know, they're trying to, the one thing he, I heard John Harbals say and I just took he goes, our running backs, they get what they're supposed to, but they don't get extra.

I know one thing about running backs. You better know who you're responsible for in pass blocking. Well, we learned that first pre-season. We did, we did. I run Tracy, you know, you know, it was interesting because I watched the game and you guys were doing the game, everybody thought the blitz was coming to the left, you know, and you could see the, everybody was looking out there and everything. But the blitz came to the right and obviously running back to our own trace, he doesn't see it. And then he tries to jump back in and get it and then next thing you know, we're in the blue tent. I said, darn it again. I think it's, yeah, people are actually counting how many times he's in the blue tent. I think he's been in the blue tent eight times now. Really? I, you know, I don't even want to hear it. I remember like, what's his name went into the blue tent with him last year? Oh, a day boy. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
