And let us fight back for you.
It's Salcapaccio.
Filling up right behind the bill's bench right now with their flags,
and they're hey, hey, hey, hey.
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.
Let's go Buffalo Chan.
On WGR, sports radio, $550.
We take a break or not from pondering who we want the sabers to play in all four rounds.
The dream trip, as we welcome Sal Capaccio to the show, we've both known Sal a long time.
I don't exactly know how superstitious Sal is.
I always have it in the back of my mind that something like this, when there's a month
to go in the regular season, who do you want to play is, you know, not everybody's favorite
thing to want to listen to.
But I don't know, like, that's always true of somebody, no matter what you're talking
about.
Of course.
So, Sal, feel free to fire on who you want the sabers to play in every round or we can
just get the football.
I mean, I'm the guy that finally said, okay, I don't want to, I didn't want to jinx it,
I'll do it.
What date are the sabers making the playoffs?
Right.
I mean, I'm, I'm that guy because I agree, like, who wants to, they don't make it, no,
you're full, pal.
You know what I mean?
Like, what do you want me to do?
There'd be an epic collapse because I, you know, because I asked a question, what are
we supposed to do, though?
It's like, you know, it's a baby due date, though, when's the baby due?
When they're going to make the playoffs here?
So yeah, I'm that guy, superstitious wise.
So I'm not like really superstitious that I have to do something.
However, if something's going really well, I might think, you know what?
You might not want to change things up of what I've done, right?
Like just kind of a reverse order.
For example, this happens sometimes to me during the bill season, driving to the stadium
in a certain way.
Like, oh, hey, they've been on a roll here.
I mean, I don't want to take a different route today.
Like, I don't really want to mess up the mojo that's going on here.
I have thought about the playoffs, and I would say I like your idea for Detroit, probably
checks the boxes there.
Now, look, this comes down to me to the same question and the same kind of thing people
say about playing the chiefs in the playoffs.
When you say, well, it'd be great to not have the chiefs, no, I want them.
I want to beat them.
Well, you're not guaranteed to beat them, right?
So I don't really, I'd love to beat Tampa in the playoffs.
I'd love to beat Boston, Archrival, Nemesis, Growing Up, Adams Division in the playoffs.
I also can't guarantee that I'm going to beat those teams that it would suck to lose to
want to be quite honest with you.
So I think Detroit is a nice landing spot there.
You'd rather have the easy road than a van journey sort of issue.
But would it be juicy?
What's it juicier to be?
Right.
It's juicier to be Boston for me more than any team in this league.
And it's very quickly approaching Tampa, by the way, because of the fans, by the way.
Yeah, this is our whole, well, I'll speak for myself.
My whole life with the Savers is because it was formed in the early to mid to late 80s
when they would lose to these teams that were bullies.
And like, I didn't have anything to draw from.
So I remember 1998 when I was just starting in radio.
They were playing Philadelphia in the first round.
They'd lost to the Flyers in 97.
They'd lost to them, I don't know, three other times, maybe like 75, 95, whatever.
Like, it wasn't a team, the Savers would ever beat.
Right.
And I was talking to Lindy on the air before that series.
And it kind of hit me.
Why can't they win?
I mean, these teams are pretty even and like, why can't they can't win because of 1975?
Like, that doesn't make any sense.
These guys weren't even like, right, sentient beings yet.
Right.
Why would they care about that?
And they went and kicked their butts.
And then in 2001, they did it again.
Like, it was just so nice.
So in 2006 again, and in 2006.
But this is Boston with Mayday and then 99.
This is Montreal and Barnaby and that series.
Like, just bring it all on.
Sail right bottom line.
Just bring it on.
Bring on anybody.
And listen, honestly, I think the Savers might be creeping towards that territory for
some of these other teams right now.
I would love that, right?
I mean, like, that would be great.
It feels like they don't care.
You're in their way.
They don't give a damn.
They're just, they're going to win and, you know, I'm.
They felt to me like there was a lot of back and forth with the Tampa fans after that
game.
And I was having fun with the two on social media.
And it feels to me like the Savers are in their head a little bit.
And I wonder, like the, like they have not played well lately.
And I just think like maybe, maybe the Savers could be that team that people start to think,
you know, they're in the back of their brain of, you know, because they're beating them
and they don't want to play them in the way that they're playing.
Yeah.
The Savers have, you know, the game on Sunday is its own separate category.
The game in Tampa, the Saturday before that was really a big, strong statement, but
you're right.
Tampa's lost maybe seven of eight coming out of the break or something.
So I, you know, we had someone call us, I think on Monday said like I think maybe Buffalo
broke them.
And I pushed back and said like, you know, I know they're slumping and I would still say
the same thing now.
They're slumping.
They're a great team.
They'll be back.
Like I'm not, they're not, to me, they're not broken, but I don't have to be right about
that.
The Savers could be in their hands.
I kind of doubt it.
It's a veteran team that's done a lot of winning.
And I think they're just sort of, they're in one of those spots where your, your, your
veterans, you know how it works and you're just catching your breath.
It's March and just, okay, yeah.
We want to win the division on, we'll, all right, let's get it, to me, they're going
to be heard from again.
And I am dying to play them in a playoff series.
I mean, I am dying to play them either, dying to beat them.
That goes back to what I said.
I love the juicy beating that I don't, I'm not telling you, I like the matchup.
I just want to see I died for Ottawa, I think it would be great.
Yes.
Did I just say, by the way, that I talked to the Saber coach who is, by the way, now
the current again, Saber coach, 28 years ago on the air, who am I?
Stan Baron.
Right?
I know.
Eventually it's times off.
I mean, got to be soon.
Yeah, it's crazy.
All right, so, what kind of an impression do you think DJ Moore made today?
A good one, a good one.
I think it was thoughtful.
I think he was, he showed he's a high IQ guy and, you know, I think on and off the field,
there was a little bit of banter about, you know, reading things and relaxation and things
like that.
So just, I think he seemed pretty thoughtful, but, you know, I think what's, what's
come out in this process, hearing from people in Chicago and reading things online,
and linking of DJ Moore, his excitement, like, there was a disconnect there with him
in the bears, and that might have come from him and Ben Johnson, but especially about
it come from him and Caleb Williams.
And it feels like the divorce was needed in some regard, and this has reenergized him
to be in Buffalo.
So I think that impression came off today, which is, here's a guy who really, like, he's
energized to be here, a part of this organization, maybe even, you know, a big part of that is
away from where he was and what it wasn't like he talked any smack about Chicago, but
it feels like that was something he needed, and he landed in a spot where he's really
excited because of who the quarterback is and the winning they've done.
Yeah, I mean, it really stood out to me now that I didn't know this knowing, you know,
what, what, you know, where he'd been in his career, Carolina, then Chicago, but I liked
hearing him talk about how last year was his first experience winning in the NFL and
like how, you know, since high school, right, we were told yesterday, okay, from our
Bears Guests.
Yeah.
You'd never been on a good team since high school, right?
And what did he say?
Joe Brady says, what did Joe Brady tell you?
Just go run.
Get ready to run.
Get ready to run.
Get ready to run.
Get ready to run.
Just same thing in Carolina.
And he kind of likes that, right?
So it feels to me like, you know, he's on board with Joe Brady.
He likes Joe Brady as a coach.
He's glad he is reunited with Joe Brady at a nice year with him and in Carolina.
So I think like it feels like it's checking the boxes, you know, for, for what he was
looking for, what the bills were looking for.
How much, I know it's early here, we're not even into like, you know, guys on the field
in shorts and OTAs or anything, we had a long way to go.
So it'll be time to answer this question in a more informed manner.
But how much do you think them making the move for DJ Moore signifies them wanting to
feed like, how important is it to them to Joe Brady, to the offense, to Josh Allen to
have a quote unquote number one wide receiver?
Are actions tell you it mattered?
Do you think the, the, their actions on the field, game plan, scheming will also reflect
that?
I do.
I don't think it has to reflect it in 100 targets, right?
Maybe that's what he gets.
I'm just saying that, um, or 100 catches, whatever, however, whatever number you want to
use, I guess.
I don't think it has to reflect it in this, these monster numbers.
I think the bills recognize what having a actual number one wide receiver does to your
game plan overall, because you can still have a number one and everybody eats, right?
And I think that's where we're trending here, which is, oh, yeah, we got a guy like he's
going to, because of him, everybody else is eating, right?
Something like that.
I think the bills really missed and understood the value of having a guy that other teams
had to plan for the other teams have to game plan for and that will open up others.
And you guys played the quote earlier, the clip earlier of him talking about it.
The question was essentially, and I think it was something about what does a number one
wide receiver look like?
What does that do?
Like, what is the role?
What does that entail?
And his response was, what doesn't matter if you're going to number one receiver and you're
not helping everybody else become better.
Like the number one has to help everybody else become better.
And if I'm not doing that, and everybody else in the none of us are thriving.
Well, guys, that's right, right down the everybody eats, you know, chart, right?
Which is, I'm going to do my job as the number one.
And that's going to free up a little Shakir or whoever else is the number three.
And James Cook, but his job is to, to me, as a number one, still be the primary target
on most plays, the primary receiver on a big third down play and catch down the field
when they needed.
That's what a number one has to be in this offense.
This was a zoom call today, right, so yes, what is the status?
Like, is he signed his, well, is there even a, there's an extension?
He's, he's, it's Charles Barkley, here with Wayfair.

That's official.
Is he in the area, do you know?
I don't think so because where was the background was not right?
That was home.
That was home.
That was home.
Because, wait, because D. Alford was in the media room, I think, so he was.
He did it.
Yeah.
But I don't believe.
You're right.
You're right.
You're right.
Right.
But they did execute the trade and I don't think they would make him available to the
media.
Well, yeah, he doesn't have to sign because he's under contract.
The trade was executed.
So, therefore, he's under contract in the bills.
There you go.
That's what I would say.
He's under contract to the bills because the trade was executed.
His contract went.
The bills wouldn't, would definitely not do a media availability with a player like in
this case, D. Alford or Bradley Chubb, unless they actually signed the contract.
I wouldn't do that.
Yes.
I should have remembered because I saw from Catherine Fitzgerald of the news, a picture
of DJ Moore with the bookshelves behind him.
And I'm somebody who, like, carefully studies the backdrops of, like, it's usually media
people or podcasters, sometimes athletes.
And I loved his.
It was so, it was cute, like, you know, dad, little kid, dad, stuff and a couple of trophies
and books.
I don't know how much thought went into the layout behind DJ Moore on that picture.
But maybe she asked him about it.
She asked him about it.
Oh, okay.
Catherine asked him for the Buffalo News.
She did a great job.
She asked him about the bookshelf.
He said, well, which one do you want to know about?
And he actually talked about, I believe maybe his late grandparents maybe, and I have to
remember exactly.
One was, he said, he said MVP from week five of 2023.
So I'm guessing was that the, oh, that's the Nickelodeon, maybe that's what that is,
right?
Yeah.
So he talked about, like, some of the little things on his shelf that meant something to him.
That's super cool.
What a great question.
Yeah.
I love that.
I love her Twitter.
Okay.
So Bradley chopped D. Alfred today as well, Sal.
Like, what did you get from them?
Yeah.
D. Alfred's suit.
Like, this is a guy.
This is a guy who's right out of the playbook of what the bills kind of have been about,
which is guys who just have been doubted their whole life, they had to overcome adversity
to get where they are.
I mean, D. Alfred was playing in the CFL, right?
I mean, this is not a, this is not a player that was highly touted, highly regarded coming
out of college.
He, what, how did he enter the, that's right?
He went to the CFL before going to the NFL.
Yes.
He was with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, right?
Then he goes to Atlanta.
He's like, I've been doubted my whole life, I had to play with the chip on my shoulder.
He's 5'11, 180, right?
He's not the biggest guy.
And he said how excited he knows exactly all about the bills, the organization, how the
winning that they've done, talked about, I really liked him talking about how much film
study he had the week leading up to Buffalo.
And that helped him pick off Josh Allen and he said, I'm going to have fun with that
in the locker room, right?
So that's cool to talk about that.
But I think it just comes right out of the, we love players who have a chip on their
shoulder.
They've been doubted and they have something to prove to want to be on the field and helping
this football team.
Right.
Chubb is talking now.
So I, I'm sure you don't have a lot of, a feedback on what he's had to say so far.
But for what it's worth, I did like check out where, where I keep my depth chart and outside
linebacker.
Right?
Like, so I wonder, Sal, I haven't, I didn't even think to notice here, where, what is
Rousseau listed at?
Like, I wonder how they will, yeah, Rousseau is also listed on their depth chart as
an outside linebacker now.
So that's kind of interesting.
Okay.
So I want everybody to get used to a certain term.
We're going to hear a lot of five man's surface.
It's a new term that you might have heard of, football needs, just what we all need.
So you actually heard this term when Joe Brady was hired and I don't know if people
caught it or not and that you've heard a little bit more since then, my buddy Eric Turner
Coverwani talks about it and five man's surface is basically five players on the line of
scrimmage.
It's really looks like a five two, even though it's really a three four in practice, right?
How we think of three four, how we think of four three.
So you're talking about having a nose tackle.
You can move them over a little bit, whatever it has to be right over the center.
You're having two guys outside of him, but they're not true defensive ends.
They're more, they're outside and not true defense end.
Your true defensive ends are actually linebackers who walk up to the line of scrimmage.
They are on the line of scrimmage.
That is your outside linebacker, really though a fifth person on either side, you will,
that becomes a defensive end slash outside linebacker.
That is a five man's surface.
You're going to hear that term more and more about the Buffalo Mills five man's surface.
All right.
Let's have, let's enjoy our summer first before, before my head starts to spin on this
one.
So much different with that said sale for Russo.
I mean, Chubb has played in this kind of system, really played in this style of defense.
I think last year in Miami, if not even previous to this in Denver, even though Jim Leonard
and he didn't cross paths in Denver, for someone like Russo, how different a gig is that?
Yeah.
I mean, I think he would have be asked to maybe have to, you know, kind of drop a little
bit more, be a little bit more encouraged sometimes.
It doesn't mean he's chasing around, you know, running backs are tight ends all day, but
he's probably going to have to be able to do that a little bit.
But it's really just still still coming off the edge.
And because you're in a five man's surface, you might have a little bit more room, a little
more spacing, you know, you still have to play the run, but you might be able to get off
a little bit quicker.
One of the hallmarks of a Denver Broncos defense is ball get off, getting off the ball very,
very quickly.
Nick Benito, guys like that, Alan Singleton, those guys like when they get up, when they
get off the ball, they're known to get off the ball very quickly.
And I think that that will help them do that.
They're going to be in a position where, okay, I'm watching that ball.
I'm just going.
As soon as it goes, I'm firing, I'm trying to get to the quarterback.
I'm going to let the other guys, I have five people coming to the ball.
Now it might be only be a four man pressure, and that's where you have to drop a little
bit.
You're going to play stunts.
What I'm super interested in is, okay, if it's a five man's surface like this, what
we're talking about are you, and you have those two, we're talking Chubb and Russo,
what about Michael Hoyt?
Like, what does he do there to see fit in?
You could kick a guy inside.
So you could start playing with your, your players here.
You don't have to have a true, like, you don't have to have TJ Sanders, or even at Oliver,
you know, probably a bad name to use there as your guy inside of them.
It could be one of them.
It could be Chubb going inside.
It could be Russo going inside.
It could be Hoyt going inside.
That's what a five man surface does for you.
Right.
It could be more interchangeable.
Correct.
Yes.
How stark is it to you at this point here now where, you know, the whole week has been
free agency.
Although I know it, the league year began yesterday at four o'clock.
And I know, like, you give the speech every year, like, they can keep adding players, all
that, right?
For all the holes that we believe them to have on defense with a new scheme coming in,
and I realize that muddies the water somewhat, because we're not exactly positive of what
they may think certain guys that are holdovers can do, like Terrell Bernard, for example,
Dorian Williams, whatever.
But looking at their defensive depth chart right now, they've added two guys.
And that just feels like I'm a little shook by that.
I think I might have expected four or a half a dozen new names, you know, not immediate
starters.
I know they couldn't go get like the top guys at every position.
But it's kind of a little stunning to me that there are only two new guys on the defensive
side of the ball, considering everything they've got to sort of get in place.
I agree with you.
I would have expected more by now.
No doubt.
I mean, not only that, not only do they only have two new guys.
They haven't resigned anybody, right?
I'm looking now and I'm like, I don't think they've resigned any of their free agents on
the defensive side.
They haven't.
So, yeah, I mean, that is a, well, same Franklin, I guess, but he's really a special
team guy if you want to count him.
So that's number one.
And I guess Fadarian Math is early on in free agency, you could count him as well.
And the number two is they still have guys, 11 unrestricted free agents who became unrestricted
free agents.
I said yesterday, they're no longer on contract with the bills, but they were on the team
last year at the end of the year on that side of the ball, just on that side of the ball.
They only have two unoffense, just two.
That is Brandon Cokes and Gabe Davis.
So you want to talk about to underscore your point, Bulldog.
It's not just that they're going to have to overhaul the defense because of the scheme,
because of the change, because of the coach and what they're doing.
It's that, yeah, they also have all these guys who are still kind of like, they didn't
resign them.
They're still free agents and they only brought in two guys, whereas the offense has been
largely intact.
Yeah, I have to ask you, because I love it so much.
Did you happen to hear about this conspiracy theory party that Christopher Passo was having
that we talked about yesterday or that Chris talked about?
Do you happen to hear that?
I heard you guys talking about it.
Okay.
Did it strike any chords with you?
So we had an NBA player go for 83 points out of bio a couple nights ago.
And this morning, I heard they were talking about somewhere.
Maybe it wasn't on our show.
I'm sorry, but I heard somebody be like, are we sure Wilk Chamberlain really did score
100 points in a game, but there's no, there's no videotape of it or film of it.
Are we sure that wasn't just basketball that's a hundred times all you know?
That's all that was enough to convince the society that he did it could have been the
moon landing.
I mean, was it really that bad for the next to give up a one-of-a-point game?
I don't know.
You're going to ask me if I have one because I do.
Do you have one?
Okay.
I mean, it's not a new one.
People have talked about it, but I absolutely believe that Michael Jordan was
suspended.
He was not.
He did not retire because of his gambling.
Oh, good.
So good.
Yes.
Co-sign.
Yeah.
That's so good.
Yes.
Michael Jordan.
Michael Jordan.
And I know that, you know, the death of his dad was so tragic and it was right after that
and he retired, but you know, his gambling was a problem.
His gambling was a problem and the NBA needed to address it, but they couldn't say the
greatest player in the world is gambling.
That is a terrible black mark on the league.
So they asked him to step away for a couple of years and then, of course, about a year
and a half later, I think it was.
So suddenly, there's, you know, Michael Jordan is taking some shots in a gym and lo and
behold, Michael Jordan's back.
I was on the desk at the Democrat and Chronicle when it was not like a big reporter that was
reporting that Jordan was leaving basketball and like nobody knew what to do.
Is this, can we really go with this?
Like trust this.
It got to the point where it was on the, sorry, it's so long ago, the wires, you know,
like it was, it was the rumors were out there and then he was leaving the NBA and then
playing baseball after that.
But that really did happen.
I think there was some anniversary of his baseball career, like within the last couple
of days.
But yeah, that's a really good one.
Playing baseball, I mean, itself gets me to, there's no way he retired from basketball,
right?
I mean, like, come on.
You're going to go retire from basketball to play baseball and the minor leagues and
ride buses and take more time.
Yes.
Birmingham,bearance.
Yeah.
Bulldog.
You probably have the card.
The upper deck.
Cell does.
I don't know.
He's like in the cage, right?
Yeah.
With the black jersey on.
I can see the card.
I can see it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
All right.
Good stuff.
Thanks for taking that question.
I'm not sure you guys will talk tomorrow.
I'm away for the weekend.
But, you know, thanks for time.
As always.
I will.
You got it, guys.
All right.
So, today's matches are always brought to you by New York's only outlet liquor when you
need to stock up.
It's the place to buy a case.
What's your outlet?
Baseball draft weekend.
My annual trip to Philadelphia.
Glenn Macnow.
Your Glenn Macnow's, your Andy Roth's, your Jerry Sullivan's, your Chris Wallars.
Wow.
I sound like, it sounded like your Tommy Mannas.
It sounded like clompist.
Your Jeff Smith, your Todd Hopkins is.
Can't wait to see Jeff.
Jeff lives in Edison, New Jersey, and listens to this show from time to time, which I know
because if I say something he doesn't like, he tells me, which is good, you know, that's
what your dad would do if he listened to the show, he would do something like that.
And Jeff is a big Seattle sports fan.
So lots to talk about.
I guess so.
He went to, I think game seven in Toronto, Mariners.
And I don't think he went to the Super Bowl, but I'm sure he enjoyed it.
I'm going to find out what's going, you have to find out from him what's going on with
with a rose, a rose arena, a rose arena.
Thank you and the big dumper.
Did you see it?
Yeah.
What did you think?
I thought, I thought Cal Raleigh was just going like, dude, we're playing each other
right here.
Well he didn't say that.
Right?
He did.
He stopped him.
He wouldn't shake his hand.
That's a snub.
Wouldn't shake his hand.
Yeah.
It's not a snub if I don't vote you for the All Star game because maybe I didn't think
you deserved it.
That's a snub.
I didn't tell if a rose arena was really mad.
The clip I saw of him talking about it afterward or if he was just sort of being a dude.
I just saw them at the plate.
Okay.
At the plate.
Yeah.
Right.
So you saw that interaction.
A rose arena went for a handshake for anyone who didn't see it.
Raleigh.
Their teammates on Seattle have been for a few years now and Raleigh just sort of, you
could see him talking.
He was saying something to him.
His head was moving, but he wouldn't extend his hand to shake hands.
And after the game, a rose arena in both Spanish and English said some things about him,
but I felt like it might have been ingest.
Okay.
So I don't know if there's really a beef there or if, you know, there was just dudes
being dudes.
I hated it.
I could almost under no circumstances could I deny a handshake.
You know, you think you could?
Like there are certain people that you would just, they reach there in public.
They reach their hand out for a handshake and you just don't move.
You think you could do that?
Who would you do?
I don't have to name names.
I don't want to name names, but they're there.
There are a few people is it Brad in my life that I would.
I don't know.
See, this is interesting.
I would have to admit, I'm not sure I'd have the balls to do it, but I know there are
people whose hands I would shake, they give it presented with the opportunity.
But if I did it, I'd be like, I wish I hadn't done that.
Abdul Sharif and Westwing.
Like I want you, I want you to know that I don't want to shake your hand, but I'm also
sort of go with the flow and just be polite and like, that's right.
So I don't know.
These guys are on the same team.
So it was kind of weird.
Abdul Sharif and Westwing reaches, he's about to blow up the Golden Gate Bridge in the
Oval Office, reaches his hand out, and President Bartlett was like, I will not.
And like just make up, they didn't speak the same language, so he's like, make up something
I'm sick or something.
Like he just sort of says, whisper something and tell him I'm, I've got a cold.
But he would not shake his hand.
But he did lie about why I see, because he didn't want to give away that he was about
to assassinate him.
Right?
That makes sense.
Yeah.
You wouldn't want to give that away.
Like if I, if I tell you why I'm not shaking your hand because I know you're going to blow
up the Golden Gate Bridge, then, well, you know, new plan.
I mean, that's, you don't want to do that, I get that, yeah, I don't have any, yeah, I
don't have that, I don't have anything that, that heavy, no, with anyone personally, but
I can't imagine ever having the, sort of the nerve to just, right?
That's what I'm saying.
Spurn that.
But I know I would, I, there, I would want to be able to do it.
Get over yourself.
Yeah.
Come on.
Yeah.
It's another relationship at all.
Other than the fact that they didn't have the same team for two years.
That should be, that should be enough.
But so I don't know.
If they didn't get along, what a move by Arosa Reina, like, here's sort of a peace offering
where teammates or he could just be like, you know, using him.
Right.
Yeah, he could know that this guy hates me, and he's not going to shake my hand.
It'll become a thing.
Love it.
803-050 for your calls.

You know, last of the days we had hectic, you know,
just kind of going back and forth with my agent
about different teams, different opportunities.
And I felt like this one presented the best opportunity
to go out there and win.
I told him at the beginning of the offseason.
Before I even got released, I was like, man,
I went to the Super Bowl, I saw the atmosphere,
I saw the feeling, and I just want to win.
I want to make sure I win.
End of game release, free agency came,
and I felt like this put me in the best position to do that.
That is Keaton Mitchell,
signing with the Los Angeles Chargers, and he's excited.
No, that is Bradley Chubb.
Sorry.
Hey, it was a free agent idea of the day.
A few days ago, Keaton Mitchell.
You know what?
I'll just warn you.
I'm gonna be so into the Chargers this year, I think,
as an investor.
All right, well, let me scratch them off the list of teams
I need to worry about in the season,
because I'm backing, I mean, I don't know.
The jet, it's the jet thing.
Listen, it's the jet thing.
Not all teams are the jets, so.
I think I'll take the overrun both.
What is the jet number?
I don't know, probably five and a half.
I think Miami's was lower when it came out, four and a half.
Miami and Arizona, right, we're the lowest at four and a half.
The jets couldn't have been much higher,
but they were a little, at least a game higher.
That had to be, that has to be the number.
There's no way they're more than right.
Why would they be higher than that?
But the Chargers, sorry, I mean to, no.
Yeah, I like everything about it.
I think I get it.
McDaniel calling plays, the players they've got there,
this guy even added in as a, as a, as a threat.
I think they're, and they're gonna get,
both those tackles back, they've still had a good year
and they weren't a real threat in the playoffs at all.
I mean, they were as meek as meek and be going out
into England, just like, oh, rip my belly, but.
The tackles being, so they still,
but despite missing, slater and alt,
two great tackles, really almost all year, right?
Slater got hurt in the summer,
alt, got hurt early, came back, got hurt again,
and looked at was that.
So ostensibly they didn't have either guy
for almost the whole year.
And they still had a decent year.
So yeah, I think they'll probably be good.
I'm kidding about, like scratch them off the list
of contenders.
Well, what's funny about that, or to be transparent,
there's no way they would have been on your list
because they're the chargers,
and they're never a team you would write down.
I think if they get one more good receiver, here we go again.
If they get one more good receiver,
they are super live to win the whole thing.
I respect Sam Monson, a great deal.
I never thought of Justin Herbert as deserving
of the MVP award, Sam did, and I respect him,
and I've heard the argument, I'm sure it has merit.
When I'm on ADP chasing, and the guys make fun of that vote,
I always took up for Sam, because there aren't many guys
I'd defer to more readily than him
when it comes to this stuff.
So I'll buy that Justin Herbert was awesome
with these disadvantages, relative disadvantages last year.
I mean, running back, it's gonna be Hampton,
but Mitchell is nice, and that's decent money.
Like if they use him as a compliment,
Thunder Lightning kind of a duo there, Mitchell and Hampton.
What happens to Nausea here?
Was that only a one year deal?
Yeah, out there for him?
Okay, so he's free to go somewhere else.
I haven't heard his name one time.
Neither.
No, I don't know anything about him.
I did no idea what was gonna happen to him.
Okay, anyway, and receiver, they're McConkey,
who unfortunately the bills didn't draft.
Quentin Johnston, do I would not say the same about,
but he had his moments last year, wasn't real consistent.
I think they need a bona fide.
Yeah, I'm not sure if that's Keenan Allen again.
This was tight end, they traded, or they signed
the Ravens guy, Kohlar, blocking tight end,
but he also, what did Davis tell me on Tuesday night?
Cause I had remembered the name Charlie Kohlar,
as somebody that I thought was interesting
as a receiving tight end.
And I think Davis said, is he Iowa State?
He led Iowa State in receiving,
when they had NFL players at receiver,
this is a few years ago.
But anyway, it's Gadsden first at tight end.
He was pretty good as a rookie from Syracuse.
Yeah, a really interesting skill set there.
Tray Harris, the guy moves really well.
Tray Harris second round pick last year.
One more, AJ Brown.
Tray Harris, right, Ole Miss.
I don't know, maybe.
Where's Tray?
Yeah, thank you, Ty.
AJ Brown for your one, boom.
Chargers or chiefs?
Johnston, this is third year now, this was his third year.
Johnston, right?
Cause rookie year was kind of a bus.
Second year was like, oh no, there's actually
a good player in there.
And this year was what, maybe a mix of the two, kind of.
Last year was not a step back, I would say.
But not a step forward either.
It's all right, like he isn't being made fun of anymore.
Okay.
Johnston.
But he wasn't like reliable every week.
Okay.
I think it was week one against Kansas City in Brazil, where he may be popped.
Like, okay, this is going to be a thing, maybe.
Either way, if they got to AJ Brown, and I still think someone will, do you?
I think he gets moved.
Yeah, I do too.
I just don't think you can ignore, he, it seems, I mean, from out here, right?
Which can be hard, challenging to really know what's going on.
It seems like both parties want the divorce.
It feels like, and there's been more, it's been more public, I guess, I don't know,
cause they were one, the Super Bowl two years ago, or whatever it is, he's made a spectacle
of himself, you know, the, the book on the sideline.
Like every, every few weeks, there's like some, something he says or does that is, you
know, he makes a spectacle during the week, and then drops passes in the first quarter
of the next game.
Like, oh, this is always stuffed with him, but it seems to me, like, I would genuinely,
except from both sides, they both want out.
Brown wants to go somewhere else, and the Eagles want to be done with that.
And if that's your walking off point, like, if I'm right about that, then abs, it's just
a ticking, it's, the clock is ticking.
So, someone's going to jump on it, maybe Philadelphia, eventually, right, they go into
free ages, oh, we want a one, we want a one, we want a one, we want a one, nothing happens,
nothing happens.
We still want a one, we still want a one, teams are still calling, we want a one, we want
a one, he gets moved for a three and a whatever, like it just, three to five, maybe a two,
I don't know.
I just think eventually the price will come down because both parties want a divorce.
And so somebody will meet the price eventually, or really what it is, is Philadelphia's
ask will come down to meet the price of somebody who's interested in doing it, but just
doesn't want to pay, you know, a first round pick because we all know you want to separate.
So why am I going to pay a premium?
It's a little bit like the conversation you probably had last Thursday about DJ Moore,
right?
I wrote out here, recognizes that the bears probably want to divest themselves of a $28 million
receiver because they've got young guys, they've got other guys they want to pay, and it's
not so much that Moore isn't good anymore.
It's just I don't need to be in the business of paying you this money as we've got other
guys that can do it for cheaper and will maybe pay somebody else who's younger.
And that's just the way the world works, it's football, right?
So then why, if that's where it's headed in the player would have every reason the world
want to go somewhere else where he's going to get targets and maybe, you know, get a
chance at one more contract or even enhance his current contract or whatever, then why am
I paying the premium?
Why am I paying sticker for something I know you can't wait to get off the lot.
Exactly.
That's what I think happened.
I think that's a totally fair assessment of what happened with the bills and the
players.
I'd say the same thing about any team that would have given up a first round pit for
AJ Brown right now.
Sure.
You want him.
You want to win the sweepstakes, but it's clear no one's meeting that price.
So wait until it's in the scratch and dental and then make your move.
Well, that's the problem though.
You don't know if that's going to happen.
Like the team could withdraw or somebody else could make the deal, right?
I mean, it's always, it's the poker getting to the point of saying this all the time about
DJ Moore.
Like, I thought the price was almost ridiculous that the bills paid for him.
But like Sal said, at the time, the one thing that they can know if they're going to say
yes to that price is that he's ours, right?
And if you want to play poker with the Eagles, you might lose.
You might not get the player and we've watched these bills teams fall short every year,
kind of thinking that they needed maybe one other one more time to say yes to somebody.
Who knows what was out there, whether that was Waddle, potentially or someone else.
It's tough.
You can't really bang on being for both things.
I mean, I think it's a dramatic overpay for DJ Moore, but how do I know that the Falcons
wouldn't have made the same deal, right?
And that's somewhat a function of what the bears tell the bills.
We have another, someone else, if you don't want to do this, like that's kind of how the
game is played, isn't it?
Well, I don't know.
I mean, I do think AJ Brown is probably moved.
And if you want him bad enough, there goes your first, I guess, the Eagles did that for
AJ Brown themselves and won a championship and went to two Super Bowls.
Like, was that, do they regret it?
I don't think they should.
I don't, I don't think they, they do.
He was much younger than now, and that's, that's a different, it's a different deal now.
But yeah, LA Kansas City Denver is going to be really good to track this off season.
Kansas City will always have its, you know, its fans.
Denver went to the AFC championship game, maybe goes farther if their quarterback doesn't
get hurt.
Chargers, I think, have the best roster, I want to say.
I don't know if I can really tell you, can really back that up.
But I like them, 803-050, Sabers and Capitals tonight, pre-game at 6-0 on WGR.
I'm done carrying around bulky drinks, and I'm definitely done cleaning melted candy out
of my pockets.
So yeah, I traded them both in for fruity rainbow five hour energy shots.
