Amanda Galbraith, co-founder and president of Oyster Group, and David Coletto, founder and chair of Abacus Data, join Sean Speer to discuss Canada's escalating trade war with the U.S. and this week’s federal by-election results. They examine how (trade) “wartime footing" benefits incumbent governments politically while constraining democratic accountability, and whether the spat enables or hinders Prime Minister Carney's broader policy agenda.

In the second half of the show, the panel discusses the major Tory by-election defeats, where Coletto presents analysis challenging the conventional wisdom that replacing Pierre Poilievre would improve Conservative fortunes, arguing Carney's exceptional popularity, not Poilievre's negatives, is the primary factor limiting Conservative support among accessible voters.
