Greater Grace World Outreach has been operating for decades across more than seventy countries. Churches, schools, missions, a Bible college, radio programs — a massive evangelical infrastructure built on the teachings of one man: Carl Stevens, a former appliance salesman from Maine who said God spoke to him at a pond.

For the people inside, it was everything. For the people who got out, it was a system that consumed their identity, silenced their voices, and punished anyone who asked the wrong questions.

Elita Galvin knows because she was raised in it from four months old. She hosts the Looking for Grace podcast and has spent years pulling this story apart. Oscar — joining us audio-only under a pseudonym because the trauma still follows him — walked into Greater Grace as a grown adult and spent years inside before escaping in 2004.
