I'm sorry, we're just examining the information in front of us. Yes. And the information says that two may have heard himself at practice today. Atlanta, what's going on? It's Duke Simpel on sports radio, 92 9 the game. We start off every day and every hour by saying, hey, man, we're not making this up. We are simply reporting what's being reported. And that is during the media portion. They want to understand the media only gets a chance to see the first few minutes of practice. And then they go, all right, everybody inside because again, it's game week. We're not trying to disclose game plans or what we're doing. And then guys speak afterwards. So during the media portion of practice, which is where guys were witnessing what was going on. And we've seen this. You've been up to camp. They're throwing the ball around. They're getting warmed up. They're ready to go to a touch just back set down on the grass, Mike. And then briefly during individual drills, this is when this is going on. We do not know what happened. A lot of the reporters who are up there are guys that report on the team every day, Joe
Patrick, Mark Romantic, they don't know what happened. They're just witnessing this. And then he didn't seem to throw again, but the media only got a chance to see a small portion of this. So again, don't want to rush to judgment here and say, oh, he's hurt and he won't be available Sunday. We'll wait for the injury report. But Mike certainly not good. I mean, this is the definition of being a Falcons fan. The level of, I mean, the aggravation, the frustration. First of all, we didn't get a quarterback battle, right? That never happened. Then we got a guy, the doctors have cleared, but he's not ready. And everyone says, you know, that's a profile encourage. You don't go till you're ready. And the good news is, now you have a chance if you wanted to, I mean, if you want, they could read, they could re figure the designation. Yep. You know, to active and you could hypothetically, you know, rescue the day come to the rescue. If you, if you were needed, now again, as you said, we don't know the severity of what's going on with two. It might just be something which, you know, it's not serious. Or maybe it is serious, because if it's serious and they stay with the plan, then it's Cooper rush starting in Pinsmer, which is nuts. And look, I've been saying all off season, we're play away like with the strand thing,
frost, right? If in fact, he's your emergency quarterback. And again, if, if two is, is tight. And this goes back to, let's, let's rewind a bit. Beginning of camp, and this was something a national media really didn't talk about because two of mist, you know, that first week, week and a half, because of tightness in his back. And Mike, if this is a lingering thing, which it's very possible, it could be, especially if it's a muscle related or whatever, okay, that that's not going to go away, especially if he's re aggravated it potentially today. So that's part of this discussion, guys, as we talk about, hey, what happened? You know, he's fragile. No, he was dealing with some back issues as camp got underway, but then they said, you know, Kevin's the fansky, oh, say, you know, day to day, he'll be back. He'll be fine. He came back. He went through the rest of camp. We really hadn't talked about it. He's still today. So that is where this is right now. But guys, the Steelers are getting ready for Sunday, one o'clock. And here we are right now, wondering about a guy's back. One guy not playing because he's inactive, an undrafted rookie who's the emergency guy,
and a guy that none of you think can go win a football game for us in Cooper Rush. That's the reality, right? Mike, I think people know Cooper's played in the NFL, but you hadn't talked about Cooper Rush at all. Matt Cooper Rush, remember Jack Strang got the extra reps because nobody was really ready to go when Camp started, then Cooper came in last minute on the plane. But he is a guy with experience. He had a couple of, you know, he won games with the Cowboys, you know, when he was pressed into service. So he's serviceable. The question we had is, and it started last night with Mike Floreo, and then if you didn't see it, Mike Thomas said the only interesting thing last night, that entire pre and post game show on NBC. You didn't like the way I was brought, casting? No, he was good. It just, it's nothing. I mean, there's no juice. I brought what I brought. There's nothing going on on that pre game show, man. It was like, that was vanilla with mayonnaise on white bread. But anyway, I might take more. What are you talking about? But as far as coach, you know, saying, in the last time you saw Tuah, obviously didn't go so well for him. And he was there in the, in the state, he will know. But then Floreo goes and says, well, you have to do well. He'll be cut. You know, well, first off, you have to take that with a grain of salt because Floreo has had a mean on for the Falcons for whatever reason.
That never quite understood what that was about, but he loves to throw some stuff at us. But we, when I both agree, I didn't think we were going to have four quarterbacks, you know, a quarter halfway into the season on the roster. Did you? No, no. But do it getting cut if you, if you completely lays it head up in Pittsburgh or the first, I don't know, whenever Pantice gets back, would Tuah plays, if he plays poorly, he'd be cut. Okay. And, and however this plays out, what we see Sunday is not going to be what we see week 15. Okay. It's just not, it's like the start of the brave season. What the rotation is is not what the rotation is now. It's going to change and look, the football gods have not looked upon us, Mike, in a way, where our quarterback situation has been so so tough that we have not had to worry about it. It's been the thing we've worried about. It's Falcon fans for the last six or seven years. So if you told me right now, one, we're not going to have four quarterbacks by the end of the season, duh. Two, two, a mayor may not be here. Okay. None of this surprises me because the, the instability at the position, Mike, has caused
us to be here. The decision making has caused us to be here. Right. It all goes hand in hand. Everybody wants to point the tool and I don't like it. Guess what? Matt Ryan and Ian Cunningham brought him here. It's all hand in hand. So if it doesn't work out, guys, it doesn't, but we've been saying this. If it doesn't, there will be change next year anyway. Yeah. I mean, that's why, you know, when we had this argument, people go, you can't tell Patek's when he's ready. No, I can't. Okay. And by the way, let Patek's take till fricking Halloween. Okay. So if he's going to get the stinks, you guys are going to say, he rush back and they'll be that BS excuse pulled in by the guys who will only accept Patek's as the starting quarter back, right? Despite his injury history. So take as long as you want because the excuses are built in for Camp Patek's. Not he and his family. In fact, I'm talking with the guys that are killing us on Twitter because we're being hard about expecting a guy who's medically clear to go. Yeah. You know, but as far as a two, as you said, touched his back, sat down on the grass briefly. Okay. So it's Thursday. The game is Sunday. You know, if this was the starting to establish quarterback, he'd get treatment and maybe
you figure you go. But in this weird, nebulous situation, where it was the knows what we're going to do in quarterback. And that uncertainty has us one. It's Thursday. Tomorrow, guys should be locked in, game plans in. You feel good, Mike. You can get on the plane Saturday. Like, like, this is, this should be easy riding right now. And hopefully it will be. But if you're just joining us, that news coming down as the guys are practicing the day. And literally it just happened about 15 minutes ago or so. So again, we're not going to get any new information because they're on the field. And they're not going to release any medical information right now. Nor will they do that, guys, before the game unless it's absolutely necessary. So my guess is, Mike, they'll ask coach. They'll ask about this. He'll be listed as day to day. And even if it's worse than that, they're not going to. Now we're not going to play our hand because guess what? Steven's making it ready for tour. And if he's not going to be available already, and now we got to make a decision. So there's some juggling that may have to go on here, but I do not expect the Falcons
to release anything on this. All right. So you could now hypothetically, guys, sit us up already on the text line saying, could they react to it? Yeah, they can change the designation for Michael. That's still, there's still a window for that, right, Daddy? I believe by the way, you talk about a story. Oh, you talk about a story, right? Thursday, this guy gets injured in some way and is maybe not able to go for whatever reason. And you talk about a story. Now he's, he's available. He's ready. He can play. I mean, he's right. Be a hell of a chance to save the day. You know, like it's a long season. I heard Rusty Mansell talk about sure it's a long season. But you know, we've had long seasons that were defined by one freaking game, one game, cost one game, cost us the division last year. It was two games two years ago. You know, it's just, it's the margins of the NFL. So yes, well, it is a long season. There's no system to throw away weekends, you know, in a division, which has been so nipped talk for the last couple of seasons. 4047, 2609, 29, no, you can't make this stuff up.
We're not making it up. Divine Diablo is going to join us. I said, Divine Diablo at 250 ish, okay? So stay tuned. We'll talk to the big dude. He is the green dot guy calling the defenses. And I'm curious to get his thoughts on what he thinks this defense can do. And look, yes, we'll ask, but understand the defense is on another field. Okay? They're not, they're not on the same field as the quarterbacks in the offense. So he may or may not be aware until after practice, but we'll certainly ask and see if he knows anything, because I know you're already going to ask to, to ask to find, we will. Hey, Mike, as we're talking about pinnocks in this whole quarterback situation, real quick. Do we have the sound by from yesterday, day day from our guest? Cause I want to play this for our listeners from Mike DeFabo. Because his whole thought was, and again, we still have to go on the assumption that two of us are going to be fine, okay? And we will until we know differently. But he said, listen, for the Steelers, they are thinking about this in one way. And Mike made the comment about what Mike Tomlin said when he was there last year, and they saw him at Miami, we want him to beat us.
And this is the one thing right now that I don't know about any of these guys in our quarterback room. As much as we talked about Frost and you guys are frustrated with talking about an undrafted free agent, Cooper Rush has been up and down in his career as a backup. Can any of these guys put this team on their back and go win football games? And this is what Mike DeFabo said yesterday about the Steelers and probably their game plan on Sunday. One of my keys to the game is make to a beat you. If the Steelers can slow down or shut down Dijon Robinson, I don't think they're going to shut him down. He's just too good to do that. But if you could slow him down, and at least to some degree, make the Falcons one-dimensional, I think that's going to be a long day for the Falcons. I really do. I mean, when you look at the Steelers defense on paper, they should be one of the best defenses in the league. This is going to be the fifth consecutive year that the Steelers employed the NFL's highest paid defense. Now, part of the reason why Mike Tomlin and the defense accorded in a Terreloster no longer here is that group has not played up to his collective paycheck enough. But with new defensive coordinator, Patrick Graham, you know, you're going to see
a different type of philosophy. He is big into all out pressures and simulated pressures. And so on rundowns, what that means is sending seven guys gapping out the offense where there's nowhere for the running back to go. You know, you're also going to see him changing the picture on the back end a lot for Tua, rolling his safeties, disguising coverages, and then messing with him with these simulated pressures where you've got six and seven guys at the line of scrimmage and trying to figure out which guys are rushing and when they're going to be rushing is really a challenge and a guessing game that could leave one on one situations for some of their linebackers like TJ Watt and company. Mike, it's what Drake may saw last night against Seattle where they're shifting around and Chris Collins worth of showing you guys he's talking about it. They're showing him one safety high and you're going, Oh, okay, they're not two. All of a sudden the next player they're too high. Who's coming? Who's not? That's exactly what Drake made you last 93 picks. The thing about two again, everybody bagging on that last performance. The last game he played as a dolphin, 28 15 lost to Pittsburgh. He got sacked four times literally running for his life.
He had to pick him up and put it down 20 times. I mean, I mean, I should say go back and look at it. He ran, he was just running all over the place. He basically can't move. He rushed 20 times for 43 yards last year. So that's not in his repertoire, not that it really was and you don't want him taking the hit because of the risk of concussion as well defined. But he did throw 78.6% completion ratio to touchdowns in a pick. But he got sacked four times. He was under arrest. You know, so the Steelers were getting after it. And that's what Tom and was referring to when he talked about what he thinks is going to happen up in Pittsburgh. And obviously he's going to have a little bit of an edge talking about his own Steelers. But now to a did he tweak his lower back? Is he going to get treatment now? I mean, are we guys, whatever you think about what we've said about Panics and whatever you think about Michael Panics, this is a hell of an opportunity for him. You know, he told people from the start of the season, he'd be ready by the beginning of the season, right? We played those audio soundbikes. But Mike, I just think this is a hell of an opportunity. I don't look. And that's worst case in the unless you know, unless you feel your marching Panics is certain doom. If he's got to go up against TJ Watten Company up in Pittsburgh and his present mental state,
well, we said whoever this is going to be under cinema is going to have a long day, right? It's just that's just what it is. And the idea of strand going up against that is seems a bit far fetched. They see a future with strand potentially. But yeah, and but that's that doesn't seem plausible today. Honestly, Cooper, we have to put out the we put out the game. Right. And we have no other, no other resource and we got to go to the strand. But I was going to say this Mike. How could he be ready now? Like today, if this is in fact something that's going to be something that keeps to or from participating, his mental, he's not ready. He said he wasn't ready three days ago. Why is he ready now? I'm just asking you guys. So I am counting Michael pinnocks out of this equation for week one. Week one, just put him aside for right now. We can continue to discuss what his mentality is, which is what I've questioned. And and some of you question his heart because he's ready and prepared and he's ready. And he says he's ready, but then he doesn't play. But Mike, I got to put him aside for this week because I don't know how to hell his mind changes all of a sudden.
And now I'm ready to go. Cooper, Russian has last four appearances in a league zero touchdowns, four picks. Bro, don't tell me that. Don't tell me that. I'm just telling you where it's at, man. All right, four, four, seven, two, six, oh nine, two, nine. We're going to talk to divine Diablo. Phone lines are open though. Guys already hit me up. You think Cooper rush, dude. Guy hits me up. Jack B. Nambel. I mean, like if you want to run a single wing and have Jack's ran, you know, basically just you can do it. I mean, we got the horses for it. Put both Robinson's in the backfield and just let him just. The Chris member with Chris Winky beat us like that. They literally ran like three plays for Carolina. I was going back back in the day for old Falcon fans. But anyway, yeah, man, you can't make this stuff up. All right. We're coming back more discussion with you. You can call and we'd love to hear from you. Want to remind you opening week on sports radio. 92 9 the game is presented by hands free sketches. Slip ends just step in and go. It's Duke's and Bell on sports radio 92 9 the game.
Well, the good news is brave salvage a game against the raise. That game just finished over. It's true. It's three one braves win today. And we know Philly's coming in for in here for a weekend series. I was just telling Mikey. We'll talk to Grant a little bit later on more about this. But Hassan Kim and you were saying out of necessity, Mike, Kim, Kim's coming up big here. Hey, man. Two for three with two RBIs also a pinch hit for Ozzy Albies who's been really struggling. So that was a ball. He moved by Walter paid off. It's knocked in by Riley. And then of course, the glaciers had to make you go in the top of the ninth. Did let her run score, but braves do salvage a game against that really good raised team three one. And now we're getting ready for the Phillies. All right, man. Moral that if you're just tuning in, the news right now is with two. Apparently he may have injured himself. At least that's the reports. We do not know for sure what this means or what it is. But he touched it. I need a Becky Adam. Touch this back. Come on. Lauren and went down on the grass briefly during individual drills today.
Okay. So again, we are unclear of what this means or if it's anything, but did he aggravate whatever he dealt with that missed the first five days of camp that lower back issue that's how it was described. And if he tweaked that, he basically lost a week. You know, so again, we're not doctors. We don't know and could you get treatment? I mean, there's a couple of scenarios. We were just talking off here and I was talking to a couple guys on the X. Volo was called put about the C2 X and I'm ATL Bell 929. I mean, you really could. I mean, regardless of how everything we've talked about with Panics, he could save the day. If he can go, I mean, if he decided to go, you know, imagine if he went to, to have a hypothetical, go to coach, hey man, if two of us can't go, I can do it. And then imagine if he wins and then imagine, then then Michael not only is he saved the day, he is to have himself as the man we're off and rotting. And it's like, it would be like too perfect the scenario, right? For me at least, I mean, I get, I get this other folks say, he'll be ready when he's ready. I understand that. I guess I'm going to, I have to.
There's nothing I can do about it, but it would be a hell of a story. It'd be movie, movie like, right? To be honest, if you've been following this story as closely as we have, and if you're a Falcon fan, we know you have other parts of the country, not so much. That's fine. It's not their team. It's not their quarterback situation. But to Mike's point, if that played out, you talk about hero status, especially if they went up there and won. But but here's my question. His fear of, of not succeeding, Mike is overriding his competitiveness right now. No one ever said he wasn't competitive. You don't get to this level by not being competitive. Michael Pinnick showed he was competitive in college. He continued to battle through all these things where there was Indiana, Washington. He's competitive, but his fear right now of not succeeding is overriding that. So I'm not ready. And he stated as much. And we're fine. We've debated it. But man, it'd be hard, hard for me to say right now, if in fact, too, is unable to go. And now here I am, Mike, I'm not going to win because I'll be honest with you.
You talked about not having any belief in too much hell. I at least I know we can at least try to help us win a game. I have no belief in Cooper rush. No, I mean, there's a ceiling with Cooper rush. And the Jack Strand thing is compelling as that was. And as we already covered that, the back up is always the darling of the fan base. And he looked great against, you know, competition. He probably should look good against. And maybe they did find the diamond of the rough. And we don't know where his career arc is going to go here, but they've decided he's got enough talent to move the roster and do the gymnastics car with the 53 man to keep him here. So yeah, man, it's guys, whatever you think, and we've gone rounded round about this for like three weeks now. You're telling me if two is out, you wouldn't love to see panics. Look, go to coach. Amen coach. Amen. I thought about it. I'm, I'm going to give it a go. Boom. And just run the hell out of the ball, man, and give B. John 20 totes, give him least five throws, you know, I mean, I know they're going to be one dimensional trying to stop. They're going to make you beat him anyway. Where the quarterback is. They're going to make you they're going to try. Whoever is understanding the steel is going to try to make that quarterback beat them.
Period, right? Yeah. I don't know if that matters if it's to or if it's pinnocks at this point. Certainly if it's, it's strand and that would begin. He's the emergency guy. But here's the deal, man. And I just explained this to one of our listeners, guys, Georgian sports, wherever is his name and that's his Twitter handle. But I said to him, look, coaches know the league. This is not a game you're going to throw Jack strand into unless you absolutely have to. Okay. Because just like with young pictures, you can really mess up the psyche of a young quarterback and throw him into the fire right now. And he gets creamed and demolished on Sunday, Mike, and all of a sudden you talk about confidence level. It's the same reason why the Falcons didn't throw pinnocks out there until they played a a weak ass giant defense a few years ago. And also to coach you, Seth, that couldn't get this guy ready for six weeks. Well, but none of these guys are going to get ready either to is going to take the majority of the snaps. Did you guys watch last night's game? If you did when the backup came in in Seattle, what did they say? He hadn't taken any snaps all week.
He hadn't taken one set. He literally is looking at his wristband all night, making sure he's getting the play call right. Part of that is guys. That's the NFL. There's no time for a competition, Carl, in camp in practice. The week it comes up quick. You've heard Randy McMichael talk about it. You know, you Douglas used to talk about the game install, the time, if you feel like there's going to be some kind of audition, that's not, they don't have time for that. And that's right. So, you know, it was great. Drew Locke came in. They tried to run the ball and then Drew Locke eventually finally hooked up with Jackson, Smith and Jig, but it was unbelievable. But that was a hell of a gritty win in that situation, but you just laid it out. The backup doesn't get the reps. Drew Locke had played in this league. He was able to adapt and again, he's won games and so is Cooper Rush. But I'm saying like this idea that you're going to prepare multiple guys. Guys, that doesn't happen. Getting back to strength. If you're going to play him, you want to pick a game in which you play him and give him positive reinforcement and let him have success. This ain't that game. This ain't that game. So that's why it was imperative. If not, if pinnocks wasn't ready, that you had a guy with experience with two again,
78, 80, uh, uh, starts in his career where you at least felt comfortable. He gives us a chance and that's all we can ask for. As much as we've talked about Jackson, I might he gives us zero chance against a stealer defense. You think two of Mike me confused. But you know, it's just like all rookie struggle. Guys, it doesn't matter who from there's only a couple of guys that really hit the ground running. Patrick Holmes recently became one of those guys. You know, when Capricott got thrown to the mix, of course, Harbott helped them out with a lot of run plays. But you know, at Capricott, that time kind of came in and just it just gelled. It really did. But those are few and far between could a Jack strand go up to look. If you're telling me it's Kurt Warner 2.0, I mean, again, the odds of that. How many Kurt Warner's in the Benel League? Exactly. You know, for every Brock party in Tony Romo, those guys that, you know, that flash during camping, they never heard from again. Yeah. It's going to be interesting. We'll keep tabs on what's going on up there. Floury as far as two. Cause again, he could be like, guys, I'm fine. I just felt something and I want to give myself a second. Okay. Or he could be like, damn it. I tweaked my back again. And here we go with this aerobics mic of Kenny play.
Is he stretching? Is he healthy enough to play? How many snaps are we talking about? That's a whole another conversation. You got you just, I don't, I don't repeat myself. You can't make this stuff up. Now we'll football coverage on 92 9th games presented by Xfinity. Or the most reliable Wi-Fi one price five years guaranteed. Xfinity imagine that. All right. We're coming back. We're going to get a chance to talk to a divine Diablo between now and the top of the hour. All right. Our defensive captain is going to join us. He'll be calling the plays guys. I think he's going to have a big year. But what is the task as we head towards Sunday facing the Steelers and Air Rogers. Stay there at Stuxton Bell. This is still the biggest year ever for soccer in Atlanta. Guys, we should have joined Jason Longshore every Tuesday night for Atlanta. Sock it tonight. Jason's got you covered all season long. Covenant, Atlanta United also the international soccer scene.
It's brought to you by Ford, visit your local Ford dealer Tuesday nights on Sports Radio 90s to 90s, 90s game and available the next day at the Off the Wood work podcast on Odyssey. Talking about our Falcons and unfortunately it's not good news. And when I say that, we don't know the extent of the injury and it may be nothing. Sunday comms and everything's fine. But when you're quarterback, you're starting quarterback is throwing an individual drills and then goes to the grass for a few minutes as it was described by people who were there today up at flowery and to a tongue out by Loa, then you have to be concerned Mike because again, he was already dealing with the back injury. Now we hadn't we hadn't heard anything since he came back that after that first week of camp. Miss those first four or five days and then he was often running. Are our buddy Reggie Chapman from Channel 11. Yeah, he's got more. He added just a few minutes back. He says that when you just talked about to a touch his back before sitting down after a throw, not sure what happened exactly didn't seem throwing after that during the brief window that the media could be out there to see it. He stood off to the side with Cooper Rush as he took most of the reps.
Can't say if he went back out after they left the field. So that's all the media got to see this situation. All right. We are taking your phone calls, guys, and it's funny because guys hit me up because I said, hey, it's either the Cooper Russ or Frost and guys, there are more Jack Strand. And again, I think Mike that has a lot to do with the excitement of we have been so bad at this position. Correct. That he showed flashes. Everybody got excited and what they saw because he's big, he's strong, he can run. But again, even as much as I've talked about Jack Frost and I'm talking about Jack Strand, guys, this is not a game where you throw him in there unless you absolutely have to. It's just, I think you're setting yourself up for failure. So what you're hoping is to is fine. What you're hoping is Michael Pinnix continues to progress and get better with whatever he's got going on, whether it's mental physical, whatever. And you continue to compare, prepare Cooper Rush in the meantime, just in case of these kind of situations. Now, I don't know if this is like an anomaly with the stats. The Steelers had 48 sacks last year, which is pretty good.
You know, that puts them up there, you know, basically top, top 10 puts in there because we had the second most sacks. But when you look at the yards per game, the Steelers did give up over 243 yards of game in the passing game. So Mike, I'm glad you said that. And maybe as we heard yesterday from that guy, DeFable from the athletic and piss break. Secondaries will banged up. I'm glad you're saying this because I don't want to paint the picture that the Steelers, this isn't the steel curtain of the 70s. Okay. This isn't a team that's coming off with multiple super balls. Guys, I didn't want to play off game in over a decade, which is why Mike Thomas is not there. It's a good team that has a lot of good veterans, but they don't scare anybody in the AFC. I don't even know if they're the best team in their division. So Mike's right. Like we're talking about the Steelers because here's the thing we have known about them. They have been good. They've been consistent, Mike. They do it right in their organization. And therefore you know you're going up against a team that's going to be prepared. But I don't think they're that good. So I don't want to overplay my hand here by telling you guys like, oh, this isn't going
to be 30 to nothing on Sunday. Okay. I think that because of what they have on defense from the veteran standpoint, Mike, you said it. They got some guys being up. But I'm not looking at this as like a blowout. I do think they present some problems, but we've just present some problems for them. And real quick, because I put up to have the Superman meme with the guy animation Superman called pulling the shirt out. That's Pettix. You'd be Superman saving the day. Kasia Wandon right now, he's listed as an active, but the NFL activation deadlines, inactive players cannot be activated after the 90 minute game day in active deadlines. So you'd have until Sunday morning. Correct. I mean, if you really, if Pettix somehow, you know, whether he got with the coaching staff or, you know, just, or just basically at this point, he's just talking himself about it. If he wanted to go and went to the coach, you just have a, it's, I mean, it's not impossible. It's not implausible. But you think if he was at that intention and this is going to be something to deal with tomorrow, he'd go to coach the fans. Give him a get some more reps and do whatever they're going to do in the short period of available to do anything and practice. Yeah. Absolutely. All right.
Let's grab a couple of phone calls. Miller in Woodstock wants to join us. Miller, welcome in the sports radio, 9290 game. Hey, man. Hey, man. What's going on? What's up, guys? Love the show. It's Miller at a Woodstock. And let me tell you something. Falcon's fans are so excited about this news. Everybody knows that we don't want to out there. Guys and look, he's, he's bubble boys. Stevie Wonder could see this coming and we got another season of waiting on Michael Pettix. I mean, guys, when's enough enough? Let's start Cooper Rush. You're a bomb strand man up. You give the city and the Falcon's fans what they want. We want strand man. He's a strand man up there. Woodstock strand man sounded a little bit like a calendar right there at the end. Yeah. It sounded like Frank calling in, which, which has happened by the way. Frank does call it from time to time. All right, man. I presume that this is natural voice. I hope so. And look, Miller, he said, give Falcon fans what they want. Is that what they want?
Well, we have a, like, we have a portion right now that says, and only Pettix, I want Pettix and only Pettix when when he's ready. And then we have, what if that's in three weeks? So be it. This is his career on the line and he can't rush it. Okay. I mean, true. Yeah, Dade A made that argument the other day. When does your career, you know, get traction because this is the maker break year. But okay, regardless, then there's Jack Strand who did great things, but again against very base defenses in the preseason. But he's got a big army's a big guy. And folks saw the athleticism and said, I want to pour man's Josh Allen under center because it's intriguing. Like the guy that just called. I may have him. What's that? All right. Let's talk to Michael in the cab county. Michael, your own sports radio, 92 9th game. Hey, man. Hey, man. Good afternoon. Hey, man. Hey man. What's going on? All right. I got, I got three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten numbers for you. Okay. Seven and ten, seven and ten, seven and ten, eight and nine, and eight and nine.
That's your record over the last five years. That's a very famous football coach just said at once said once said, you are what your record says you are. And the Atlanta Falcons, I'm gonna call it right now, are the New York jets of the southeast. That's too far off. It's not too far. There are 14 years that have played off. We're eight going on nine years that have played off by the way. I mean, so it's not, I mean, that's, you and I have used the analogy. You don't want to be jetsy and we're trending jetsy right now. Yeah. I mean, he's not, look, that's part of why I think people are like, what's it going to hurt? We've been a below 500 or 500 team. What's it gonna hurt? If you're for one of these guys out there, if Tula can't play and let's get people, how many people are on the country expecting us to go up to Pittsburgh and win this weekend? Very few, right. So I think that's part of this mindset, not only from Michael into cap, but also from just people generally thinking about this team like, what's the big deal?
You guys are still trying to figure out what's the quarterback situation is going to be anyway. Go ahead play one of these guys. Does it change the trajectory of Michael Pinnix? Is he still going to be playing at some point this season? Yeah, Michael Pinnix is going to be out there. I mean, I just, you know, it's a hell of an opportunity if he felt inclined to get out there and to talk to coach you staff and say, hey, like to give it a go. You know, it will already discuss it. He has been cleared, but he doesn't feel confident yet with the need to go out there. But it, I mean, this is the essence of competition. This is the essence of, you know, I can do this. I can lead the team. This is a hell of a, you know, I know that my inner body clock might be feeling I'm still not at there. I'm not there yet, but I mean, my God, how could you not be excited about that opportunity? If, man, team needs me, you know, and again, he's got money. He's not great money. The chance is to win the big money if you actually establish yourself as a free agent. So I understand the implications of going out there hurting yourself and not being able to do the job. But I mean, this is a gift from the gods if you really wanted to, if those who don't believe you to win them over, that's that it matters to Michael Pinnix.
But more importantly, just to get out there and compete and establish yourself as the man, then two of never gets back on the field. And it's your job and you're often running. Yeah. I mean, I just, I don't know, man, I, I, I think, I mean, you know, me, I want to see, I, I had no interest and we debated, you know, can, to a, do the job is to a service. So yes, it's, it's record shows we can step up and, but now, now we've had this aching back that we started this, the preseason with and now it's cropped up against range. Yeah. No, it is. But I just think like it's one of those things. Once you make your mind up, are you playing? Oh, no. Somebody asked you got plans. Are you coming? I don't know. Got a part of this weekend. You coming? We, I know. That indecisiveness doesn't go away. If I tell you I'm coming, I'm coming. If I tell you I'm playing, I'm playing. My mindset is different than, well, no, I'm not ready. And then three days later, because of this, you're going to tell me all of a sudden he's, he's knocking coaches door down to tell him he's ready. I'd love to see it, Mike, but that's just, to me, that's just unrealistic.
I don't know if there's any correlation with the two injury, but the number just went up to four and a half on draft Kings and Fandall. I saw that. Yeah. So it was, it opened at three, went to three and a half. Now it's four and a half in some sports books right now for the, for the Steelers. All right, man, more of your phone calls are welcome, guys. By the way, we are awaiting, Devine Diablo will get a chance to talk to him. Hopefully here for a few minutes as they get ready for the Steelers. And again, we don't know if practice ran long if they're, if it's on time, what the situation is, but Devine is going to join us also coming up as we continue today here on the show. Mike Griffith is going to join us to talk about the dogs week two for the dogs. And Barbara Dool is going to stop by at four o'clock as well. We'll get some comfortable conversation with Mike Griffith. And of course, the braves win today over at Truace Park early business person special. And that game finished pretty quickly. But some heroics from Kim, man, and look, we said this if he can help us win some games in September and maybe help us in the playoffs, he's on the roster. He's not going anywhere. And at AA said as much on our show a couple of weeks ago when he came on, like, so Kim, good job. Hey, by the way, we'll talk more about this with Grant.
There's a report out there saying that when they were talking to Texas about DeGrom. Yeah. We didn't want to wave as no trade clause that the braves were shopping Spencer Strider. And that kind of runs counter to Alex saying, you know, guys that he's kind, you know, he's got contracts with trying to trade. But that's before, of course, we've learned that Striders may be never going to be the same guy again. But I saw that earlier today that a couple of a couple of sites picked up on it, but a report that they were actually talking about moving Strider to the Rangers because they consummate the trade for DeGrom. Hmm. Okay. Look, let's see what Grant has to say about that. That's interesting. It really is. And again, you know, when we hear our general manager and he said as much as the, as well on this, the reports about we had conversations, we were close with this or that. It's just hard to quantify Mike when nothing comes of it, right? And so you hear these, hey, we talked to this guy and we were wanting to do this. You just got to take their word for it because nothing happened with it. But I do think a lot of these conversations do take place. But man, it almost has to be perfect for these deals to get done because teams don't want to get, they don't want to get shafted, you know, right?
And that's part of this. Now again, with the Braves, we, at least salvage a game today more on that one today. And some of Waltz moves worked out perfectly. You know, pinching Nazi, Riley getting a bass knock and we talked about, you know, Ozzy and Matt been struggling, mightily at the plate. Yep. I saw a number like the leg going into today, the last 30 games from Matt Olsen. He was about like 167 or something, something, something criminally low. Either way, hopefully they, you know, can keep on trucking. They do have the tie breaker with the Phillies, but the Phillies can just still win more games with the division out right. Sure. Sure. I think this is going to come down to the end when I say that, depending on what happens this weekend, it could easily come down to the last game. But if you've got a four game lead heading into the last few weeks of the season, which is very possible, like anything can play out. Now we've said all these games matter, right? You lose a game, they won a game, half game, you win a game, they, they won a game. Like this is going to go down to the end of the season, last day of the season. And hopefully we are able to hang on. And the big thing is you keep bringing up is not having to play in that dreaded three game series that I think is just dangerous for anybody.
It'd be dangerous for the Dodgers, guys. It doesn't matter. I mean, best of three, that's just not a true test. I mean, it's, it just doesn't seem right to be as good as the Braves have been and wire to wire with little swooned in June, but then been back on top. And you know, the way with looking at Dodgers, trying to wrap our heads around just, we know, what is the real Braves team? Because we were feeling so good. And then man, you know, this is a team which is, look, they've got issues. Everybody's going to have to be out outside, literally Carl playing outside their minds and their bodies for this team to win a World Series. I like this team to still win the division, but I don't, I don't think they've got the horses to win the whole thing. It's going to be tough. We got to hit man. I mean, consistently we're waiting on Divide the Abel. Yes, we are. We'll come back. He's going to join us also three o'clock hour. Talk some calls for ball with Mike Griffith and much more on this two of situations. Stay there.
