Ilika CEO on delivery of first commercial Stereax electrodes to Cirtec Medical

Graham, very good to see you.

You've now delivered your first commercial batch of stereo X electrodes to CERTEC.

Why is this moment significant for ELECACIO's journey from technology developer to commercial

supplier?

Morning, Stephen. Many thanks for the invitation.

Great to be back.

Yeah, a really important announcement for us today.

You probably remember, actually, a couple of months ago, we said that CERTEC,

manufacturing partners in the US for stereo X, had initiated the commercial electrode

supply arrangement that we've got in place to support product manufacturing.

And actually, what we're announcing today is that we've fulfilled that initial order.

So it's our first revenue generating or product revenue generating order from CERTEC

on the path to commercialization.

Graham, these batteries could power everything from implanted sensors to neurostimulators,

which applications are generating the most interest from device manufacturers at the

moment?

Well, there's a fantastic portfolio of applications that we are continuing to get inquiries

about. Like you say, perhaps the most straightforward are implanted sensors for applications like

measuring blood pressure or maybe oxygen concentration in blood for patients who are struggling

with COPD.

And then perhaps some of the most sophisticated devices are those neurostimulators that

connect to the peripheral nervous system and deliver a nano-amp current of electricity

into the peripheral nervous system to sometimes stimulate organs, actually, that in turn

can help patients deal with a particular illness or perhaps just to offset some pain signals

that they're getting often lower back pain and issues like that.

And then, of course, we've got orthopedic implants for smart hip, knee shoulder replacements,

orthodontic wearables and some really cutting edge ophthalmology devices, so a lot of

excitement around these applications.

Graeme, you've proven you can deliver commercial grade electrodes from your UK facility.

What does scaling production look like from here as demand grows?

Well, actually, we're putting in place now a regular heartbeat of delivery of electrodes

so that CERTECH has got a reliable supply of those electrodes into their production process.

And this is really exciting time for us because, as you said, when we kicked off really,

we're in that transition from development through to commercialization at this point.

And how big is the market that you're targeting, Graeme?

Well, these are huge markets.

They are dominated really by products that are principally marketed in the US.

But this is a very rapidly growing area.

It's really part of the electro-cittical revolution where you have a replacement,

a systematic replacement of pharmaceuticals with some very specific medical devices

that can be really miniaturized and really change patients' lives for the better.
