President Barack Obama.
Virginia, we are counting on you.
Republicans want to steal enough seats in Congress to raid the next election and wield
unchecked power for two more years.
But you can stop them by voting yes by April 21st.
Help put our elections back on a level playing field and let voters decide not politicians.
Vote yes by April 21st.
Paid for by Virginians for fair elections.
So we've got a match point for Jack Draper, but it's on the Novak Djokovic serve.
It was a must-win point though in so many respects for Jack Draper.
And so it is match point.
Jack Draper, after two hours and 35 minutes, it's only quarter to nine in the evening.
It feels like it's much later that in U.S. time.
It's quarter to five in the morning in Germany.
Now you see the first serve from Novak.
This is where the clutch go-alives, five-six Draper tries to cool his hands.
He's anxious, of course, understandably so.
If you do it the second serve, he's going to get it actually.
First serve misses.
So the second serve here from Djokovic, he's just tapping this in I think.
I think he's going for a big spot here.
Because he might get a gift off the turn, because Jack isn't going to go for the turn winner.
Okay, here we go.
He just pats it in, backhand now, forehand from Draper, forehand from Djokovic.
Backhand, oh, he went big there.
Oh, he's got it done, Jack Draper.
Take a bow.
Jack Draper.
I think he got lucky with a net called, by the way, on that match point.
I'm going to watch it again.
I think he got a bit lucky on this match point here, Jack, because I think it did just
touch the net.
I'm going to watch the match point again.
But boy, oh boy, Jack Draper wins, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6.
Look at this.
He was cooling his hand.
He was going to get a second serve.
That helped.
Listen, I also remember that final, the Wimbledon final that Raffa choked in to be fair
of 2008.
But as Mary Carrillo said rightly, he chokes, but he still wins.
Just like he did against Medvedev in the 2019, US Open Final.
And Jack Draper choked, but he still won, which is a huge, huge feather in his cap.
Watch this here.
I'm just watching the replay again at this point.
I think it clips the net on the, I think it touches, it does.
That backhand down the line, which was very similar to a previous point.
Some of the pace got taken out of it by the net cord.
Jack Draper didn't apologize.
I don't think he has to, but boy, boy, match of the year for me.
Let me know in the live chat and the comments below.
Was that the match of the year?
It was for me.
Because the quality was off the charts, I would say, for about two and a half sets, okay?
So the drama, the tension, the defense, the attack, the poise, the drop shots, the clutches.
Think about how good that first set was, by the way, which I'll soon get forgotten.
You know, matches like that match in Cincinnati, what get forgotten is that for a set and a half,
it was a done.
That match was super high in quality.
The serving in that first set was off the charts.
Both were actually getting high scores in the marks at the end, I think.
And then the second set and we went, went up a notch.
Think about those rallies, those energy sapling rallies.
Think about some of the rallies that I think were some of the best rallies of the year.
Not just of this tournament or even this match.
Then we had some twists and turns, we had the drama.
Because Joker, which looked like he was down and out, down a break.
Draper serves for it.
He doesn't serve it out against the go of clutches.
So you think it's done.
Surely that's done now.
The momentum is with Novak.
Draper was just falling apart.
Errors were coming off his racket.
Same in the tie break in some of the respects.
He goes up a mini break.
He loses the mini break and Joker, which now is a mini break.
Draper as well, six, five.
By the way, Mac, but even before we get this, we get to five, four.
Draper, by the way, gives an applause to Novak.
Joker, which he was to the crowd, not sure if it'll be the last time in Indian Wells.
I'm not sure.
He's still got the level to win to big, big tournaments and big, big matches.
The level was there from Joker, which today.
He'll be in Miami, where, of course, he made the final last year in a week or two.
But we set the drum because also Draper, by the way,
at five, four serving, again, he sort of has a choke, doesn't he?
And then, by the way, we had some net chords as well that went in both of each player's
favours.
Oh, my goodness, me, for me, match of the year, and I've laid out my reasons.
And I don't think a match, honestly, at the upper echelons of men's tennis, at least,
I don't think a match comes close to it.
It really doesn't.
Because even that Jokovic cinema match at the Australian Open,
Sinner had 18, they have 18 play points and couldn't take, and only took two of them.
Yeah, I'm loving this, by the way.
We're looking at a great look at the Draper slide up the tee against Savundala.
This is a serve here from Draper that Brenner's got on social media.
But yeah, Jack Draper, take a bow in terms of the mental state.
Take a bow, both players, to be fair, because you both bought it
for large spells today.
And it's Jack Draper who gets over the line, 7-6 in the third.
He's going to sign the caminets, put on a shirt, I think.
No doubt it's a sponsor shirt.
Yeah, I see somebody tweeting about this rally, by the way, that was just honestly wild.
A gladiatorial effort from Jack Draper, by the way.
Fergus, Fergus, the impartial observer.
A gladiatorial effort from Draper, he makes it nine and a row in Indian Wells.
Yes, of course, he's on a winning streak at the moment.
He must feel good in the desert, outlast in Jokovic, 4-6-6-4-7-6.
I think I would use a different word throughout lasting, but fine, I get it.
An unbelievable contest between these two filled with real quality indeed.
Draper with two gutsy down the line, backhand, so could in the match in Superb Store.
Yes, one, I would agree with you, Fergus.
Second one gets a bit lucky with that little clip on the net
that then sees Jokovic put a backhand into the net.
Set one was all about Novak.
I don't think it was.
No, set one was Nippentuck.
I think both serve extremely well, but Novak struck really well.
And the quality from both was really high in that first set,
which meant we didn't see a break point, I think, until Jack was serving to stay in it
at 4-5.
Jack, by the way, I think, had to serve second in each of the three sets.
I don't think that helped him too much, especially when it came to the mental side of it.
And yeah, first top 10 wins since beating Alcoa as this time last year,
two British men in the quarterfans of Indian Wells,
early content of the match of the year, one effort.
I mean, it is match of the year for me, just end of story.
Okay.
Thank you, big call, John.
Yeah, big call, John gets it again.
Eight out of eight today, by the way, ladies and gentlemen.
Eight out of eight.
And by the way, I said, draper in three as well.
