Sanju, Samson, this video is just a love letter to Sanju, Samson. India make it to yet another World Cup semi-final. They've won now at Eden Gardens in T-28 times in a row. But did we see some weaknesses? Who cares? This is all about Sanju, Samson. This calls for a bug. Thank you very much to Budweiser for getting behind TGC during this World Cup. A great game of cricket last night, Pezza. They India had to chase the most. They've ever chased in the history of cricket. And they did it relatively is in the end. But the, when you look at the scorecard for the Indian Banning Line-up, it is all about one man, one man only. And that man is Tillack Varma, who's 27 was telling. No, you know, it was 1.95. Look like it was good score. Could have made a little bit more perhaps. I guess we're all greedy for more, more, more in this life.

But maybe it didn't matter because Sanju, Samson was just on one, baby. Yeah, dog. I mean, I like the positive spin that you're putting on this. I think that firstly, West Indies were deeply under. It was an unbelievable track to bat on. And one block just struck at 95 and ended up being the difference. Everybody else was good. So I'd like to focus on the negative and show hope. Yeah. How can you not be incredibly happy for Sanju, Samson? You know, a guy that many will say now is testament to the depth of Indian cricket, but he should never be depth, Sanju, Samson. He should be in the A team. And I don't mean India, right? That could be confusing. He is, he is part of the top tier of Indian players. And we've said it for a very, very long time. I'm very pleased that he's had the opportunity to shine and put India on his back to get them through here. They needed it. He did it. He saw it through all the way. Yep. It was gold. Let's have a quick look at the scores.

If we can, please TB just from overnight. So 4, 195 was remarkable given the situation they found themselves enough to the power play the West Indies. But they did get there. Thanks to a couple of big boppers, Jason Holder and Ravi P. Robin and power got them there in the end. But all in vain, because look at that. Sanju, Samson 97 committed to like farmers next best score of 27. Um, Shuman Joseph sneaks his way into that, um, into that highlight reel of two for 42. But it was mostly garbage from him. Uh, pesa, uh, very much thanks to Bud was beginning behind TG as I said, but they are putting this podcast in the hands of fans, uh, as they have done throughout this tournament. And so if you want to are, if you don't want to get around TG, see and get your question or your response or comment about the matches happened or not before on this show, you can just follow TG, see on Instagram and just, you know, look at our stories and then click the thing and then you post the thing and then we read the thing. If we like the thing and then you watch the thing and then everyone has a good time. Let's have a look at what some of the punters are saying. Uh, did Sanju keep the receipts?

Um, he doesn't seem as like Bitter about his nonsense. I suppose when he's like literally seeking employment from, um, from the Indian cricket team, I suppose he'd be wary not to go, you know, all in. Is he not bitter enough, not to be confused with the song. I'm not pretty enough. Uh, yeah. Sometimes a little bit of bitterness and a little bit of fight can force you way into the side. But Sanju just looks like a, a gentle retiring calm spiritually in light and being, you know, when he wins the game, sinks to his knees, looks to the heavens, he just, he just looks like a man of class. I mean, he plays classical cricket and 80% of his runs were in front of square. And none of this opening the blade, um, garbage, you know, none of this scoop garbage. He said we see from the kids these days, his innovations stats are terrible, you know, on the power rankings, exactly. But look what you can do with it. Uh, yeah, he was, he was cold as ice. It was ice in his vein stuff tonight.

Um, he was the wicket that the Wendy's needed. They couldn't prize him out. Uh, so yeah. But also like when, when you think about receipts, people want fuck you runs, you know, people want a bit of like fuck you for not picking me. Now like he's just a guy who's just good at cricket and he just wants to score runs and get picked consistently would be nice, but fans want fuck you redemption runs. So, you know, we all want to wall, we all want it all and we all want it now. Uh, what else we got Tbe? Uh, the cops were walking on me watching Sandra's innings in the dark with heels naked. It was, it was, I don't think it was sort of like bruge. I guess like, you know, everyone has their own thing. I guess it was a classical innings. It was more purity. It wasn't in a T20 sense. Yeah. I don't think he even had to like take on a huge amount of risk. You know, you think when you're chasing something that's nearly got a two in front of it that you're going to have to enter sixth gear at some stage, but he didn't really need to. I mean, he's just slapping balls through, you know, through point for four. It's down the ground stuff. It's elbow up stuff and it's heartening to see really, you know, it was the mentality

that really put him head and shoulders above everybody else overnight. And yeah, I mean, we, we did wonder with the last game given that Sandra took the gloves, whether that was a sign from Gigi that he was now not just covering, but this was his spot. And it definitely is his spot now. Next one, please. We're definitely not the favorites. This was a labored win. Samson Clutch don't know. Sorry, no, sorry, get the claim. Don't get the claim that you're playing at home. You're the best team. You're the favorites, okay? If, if you don't win, you fucked up. Okay, that's just how it is. I know what you're doing. I don't make the rules, even though I appear to be doing so. Nice try though. Sandra Samson redemption arc starts now. Oh, okay. Well, he could also be left out for next game if it doesn't match up against, you know, England. I guess we'll see next one, please Tb give Jay Shah the Oscar for best original screenplay. I mean, India making a semi final. Is that in the original screen? I would have thought like Zimbabwe making it would be that would be original friends.

India chasing down 195 that Robbie peace has about 15 unders for ball to spare. I mean, best original screenplay settled down. Yeah. And last one, nice to see the ICC chairman of the ICC cheering from the stands as the India one fair play award give made perfect. I mean, he's also looking after the economics of the sport. And, and India do generate most of the money in the summer. I mean, what's the, I mean, if I was the chair of the ICC, I'd be cheering them too. Because when India win, we'll get paid, you know, well, I mean, what's the problem? This is rational acting, you know, that's right. All right. Well, thank you very much to those. Trump got the peace award as well. Absolutely. And how's the peace on it? Let's get into the first thing is the hope that kills you. Let's have a look at the batting car for the West Indies because there is an alarming statistic at the very top of that list there. Ross and Chase opening the batting for the first time this tournament, Hetmeyer, clocked a couple rather for didn't really get going. But then Robbie P and Jason holder got them up to four for 195. But it is show hope at the top there 32 of 33.

Here's what he said after the game. He said, yes, I'll take the blame. I should have batted a lot faster. But in a situation like this when you're struggling, I don't think I was playing badly. It's just I was hitting it to the fielders and then trying to play the situation a bit more. I mean, first of all, fair fucks to a guy who's come out and says, I'm just going to cop, I'm going to take the blame. I mean, he's literally batted five and a half overs and scored 32 runs individually. I suppose sometimes you do see in defense of hope, even though it is his fault and he has cost world cricket, you know, a very funny result. We should all be blaming him. Yeah, but like, um, he are, you know, sometimes like you see guys get out for like, like seven off 15, for instance, and it's like, well, what a waste of anything is that is. But how many times do you see a guy make 80 off eventually 45 and they start off with those numbers? Now, when you face 32 balls, you're going to want to score a big number very quickly in the last sort

of 30 balls in my face to sort of make up for that. Because when you're just missing those circumstances, then it is like you have, you really have just batted five and a half overs and set the team way back. So I, I have sympathy with him, but at the same time, um, he batted for too long. Yeah, I mean, I don't really know what else to add to that. Other than that's a wonderful tribute to Barbara's arm, you know, I mean, with respect to Shane, he's been good in this World Cup and he's been good in this World Cup. He doesn't have a, um, a particular tendency to like take too long to get going. That this wasn't a risk. Yeah, like sometimes in cricket, the bowlers bowl well and he hit the fielders and he probably backs himself to catch up and then actually he doesn't, you know, and it's fair play to India as well as well, you know, who bowed well through that power play. But yeah, on, on this deck, where it needed to in front of it to only make 40 odd runs in the power play was already putting West Indies well behind. And yeah, it was a situation where it was like, it was probably in West Indies favor when he got out,

you know, yeah, yeah, yeah. So actually mistake, a rare mistake from India there, a rare L, if anything. Follow the stamps, follow the stamps and not to keep him in. One 95 is the most India have ever conceded in the World Cup when they've balled first. So, you know, there is that for the West Indies, but given the amount of power they do have, which we saw again, you know, down the order with Holden and, and Rolfman, just look at some of the stats here about the amount of sixes that the West Indies have hit and the way they play their cricket, the power they have in their lineup, which again, we'll be so frustrating for we get down one 95 in the board when they've got, you know, more power in the, in the, in the hutch. So, Rolfman went past Nicholas Purin for the most sixes hit for the West Indies in T20s. The West Indies have hit 76, six, sixes in this World Cup, of course, only our Bulgaria have hit more in a World Cup in a tournament that is. And Hetmeyer has hit 19, sixes alone in this tournament, which is the most ever by any better. So, the amount of power they have is, is extraordinary. Jason Holt has contributed a couple of times,

recently back in this tournament, low-roader runs. Rob Muppow is one of the greatest power hitters in the game going around. So, but, you know, when you're looking at like the quality they have and the way they play the cricket, we're just going to hit sixes. That's all, that's all we're interested in doing in this tournament. 195 feels actually like 50 short of what they capable of. But, you know, also India allowed to bowl well at times. And they probably have. Yeah, India, India were better than West Indies here. And they won, they won those moments and capitalized when they needed to. They held their nerve. They were, they deserved to win the game. There was enough of a gap by the end. You know, they won that power play in the first innings. They finished stronger. They fielded better. They have bowls with a little bit more penetration. And West Indies mucked their tactics up. You know, it was an absolute road at Eden Gardens. India are entitled to move along. You know, West Indies are a good team. They're a formidable team, but they're coming up against a team that got it together

when they needed to. And I'd be bored by that victory far as an Indian. You know, it wasn't an absolute annihilation. They were pushed and they came through. So, I feel like a lot of the question marks about India have been answered in this game. The nature of the win is, um, is exciting for them. And not particularly funny for anybody else. Let's talk about Sandra then. Now, many people will be giving Sandra Sampson his flowers. But we have been Sandra Sampson's bigger supporters. For I would say in the realm of about four years. I mean, covering the IPL for five or six years now. And when we first came across him, we were like, this guy said, this guy is just one of the best players they have. And he was hardly playing. There were reasons for that. Of course, India always have lots of good batters. But I mean, this guy is, he is world class. And here's what we were saying literally on Friday. Sandra Sampson at the top, I mean, he's a stunning player. He's been fantastic for Rajasthan for ages. You feel like if there's more investment made into Sandra Sampson, he will reward them over a period of time.

He makes 24 here. It's not enough. It is in terms of life fucking lining it up. But you and I both Sandra Sampson fans. So I mean, I like it. And I, and I won't result from it. Refuse to result from those obligations. Exactly. Now, when we're talking about investment being made, I didn't think he'd return the investment on Monday or Sunday indeed. But indeed, he has, he's what he said afterwards. He said, I'd never felt that I would do something special like this, but I was just focusing on my role just keeping one ball at a time and very grateful. I think this is one of the greatest days of my life. He hits a six and a four off Ramariya Shepard. I think it was by the 20th over in a must win world cup game. As you say, he takes off the lead. He falls, so he needs crosses himself in spiritual recognition. And the nation just wraps our arms around him. And it's just, it's just a, it's a feel good story for Sandra Sampson, who probably should have played about 250 games for a nearby now. And he's played about 50, I think it is maybe 60. Yeah. And I guess some credit to him for sticking with it as well. I mean, it must be difficult to be surrounded by so much talent

to potentially feel like you've not been afforded the same opportunities as other people have to have some investment in him, albeit through some difficult circumstances with Rinku Singh and to take that opportunity and to take it at a time that matters for India. I mean, people will point out that his record hasn't been spectacular. He is often playing in quite meaningless bilaterals on flatties, but come with the hour, come with the man, essential quarter final against the West Indies. Playing with a batting group that like, you know, is shorn of a lot of its, you know, veteran heroes and he's trying to make its own mark and to start, I guess, cementing its own legacy to be able to lead the way with that as one of the more experienced players on the domestic scene. It must be immensely satisfying for him. And, you know, hopefully buys him a good run in this team. Because, yeah, you're right. He doesn't really like, he doesn't have that like a whole bunch of flair as a player,

you know, that you'd like build an entire IPO marketing stream around. But he has incredible like game sense, as you can see last night. He was very, very calm. He didn't feel like he needed to start playing shots that he hadn't been playing before. He just trusted his game plan and it worked all the way through. And you don't often see guys who can like, you know, take it all the way to the end and literally hit the wing runs. You know, you hear a lot of badders talk about, we want to be there at the end. But in T20 cricket, you tend to just keep hitting and then trust the next guy to come in and do it. But the fact that he led them all the way there. He held into his hand and said, oh, I will do this. In the biggest, you know, they do have a, well, they've struggled in chases above 150 without Coley. Now, that's a stat that makes sense because Coley has just played in every game. But, you know, they're probably our Indians out there who are like, yeah, we know that we can play without these guys that have been the bedrock of our cricket. For a long time, but I still haven't seen it yet. You want to see it. And here you have a guy's like, I'll do it. I'll do it in the big game.

So create it to him. Well, it's the highest chase for India in T20 World Cups. It's also Sanjay's first 50 for India when chasing to your point. But also that 97 know that is by far the highest score in a run chase for India. You think about like, I think Coley's got a couple of 80s. There was one in like the 2016 World Cup against Australia. There was obviously the famous one at the MCJ against Pakistan. Which was, you know, had its own theories around it. But this is, I mean, India or on the brink, on the brinkness. Yeah, I suppose they needed to win the game. They are chasing that highest ever total for them. And for them to be knocked out before the semifinals would have been absolute disaster. So, for a guy to hit 97, the next top score being Tylek Farm is 27 is astonishing achievement. And once again, I think everyone just so happy for him as a cricketer. All right, so about the semifinals. The semifinal matchups now we move on. So Thursday, so Wednesday evening is New Zealand and South Africa.

That's at Eden Gardens. And then Thursday evening India against England at the one Cady therein. But I fancy, I think that India's got the tougher of the two ones. I mean, they obviously couldn't get South Africa. I think that's, like I'm against England is, that's going to be a tough game for India. And look, I mean, England seemed to have some good power hitting alone. I will, Jack is having one of the, he probably is the player of the tournament at the moment, given he's literally one for player of the matches so far. So that's interesting. The one Cady and India will have a good record there. That is exciting. And I feel like, you know, New Zealand South Africa will be favourites going into that. But you can never count out New Zealand from making a World Cup final. Yep. So, um, yeah, they're two like, it's two mouthwatering clashes, legitimately. I can't believe I've said that. But I've shown that I care about something, but yeah, I agree with you.

I mean, I think England will not be fearful of India. You know, they'll know how to play brave. They know how to play fearless. And if they get, if they get, they get on a roll. They can be pretty tough to stop. I mean, I still think India are favourites. They can be wrong. Yeah, that's right. One Cady. That's right. Yeah, England will, England will need to play as best game to win. But, you know, maybe they, maybe they can. And then as for South African New Zealand, yeah, I agree. Just two teams of straight has weird relationships with, who are in a game that we're not. Yeah. I could, I could see them both winning as well. I could see the Kiwis having a day up, you know, if they need to. But you're probably, you know, it's probably an India, looking like an India South Africa final, but it is T20 cricket. So there's also, I think about the, the Adelaide Oval semi-final in 2022 when England ended up winning. But they won that semi-final by 10 wickets. Yeah, Alex Wales and who also opened the banning. Was a Butler open the banning. Yeah, chased down like 160 or someone that none down. So, you know, bitter history there, although they are completely different circumstances,

different teams, different players, different state and different country, different conditions. Yeah. So it's a bitter history between these teams. And that's largely because they make a lot of semis and finals. And that history builds. Not that many countries play cricket. So, I guess, you know, just formats as well. Like, yeah, well, I mean, what about that? South Africa, New Zealand semi-final back in some time. Yeah. You know, interesting. Yes. One day cricket with Grant Elliott. You know, they'll be thinking about that. We'll be thinking about that. That's right. All right, well, if you haven't already, click subscribe here. And you can follow us. You can follow us here all the way through the semi-final as an indeed. The World Cup final. It's getting to the business end. Again, it's the pointy end. Thanks to Budweiser for getting behind TJ. Say thank you to you for consuming this program. And we'll see you guys for the semifinals. Goodbye.
