Iran attacks Gulf neighbours, Asia financial markets plummet

Tehran has again said it will strike energy facilities across the region if Donald Trump

carries out his threat to attack Iranian power plants.

Trump had said he would bomb those energy sites if Tehran did not open the street of

homels within 48 hours.

Meanwhile, there's been a new wave of strikes across Iran.

A child was killed in the western city of Koram Mabad after a residential building was

hit.

Attacks on that city cause a partial blackout overnight.

Iran's red crescent says more than 81,000 civilian buildings have been hit since the war

began, and more than 1,400 people have been killed.

Israel has also faced more attacks from Iran.

Iran's revolutionary guard corps says it's targeting Israeli military outposts, but

civilian areas across central Israel have been hit by falling shrapnel.

Meanwhile, Iran has fired another barrage of missiles towards Israel.

The attacks set off sirens in northern Israel, including the city of Haifa.

Debris fell in the city of Safad.

Overnight projectiles were also seen in the sky across Israel and the occupied West Bank.

Iran's revolutionary guard says it's targeting Israeli military outposts.

Elsewhere in the region, air raid sirens were activated in Bahrain and Kuwait a short

while ago.

Both countries have come under near daily Iranian attacks since the war began.

Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates also reported interceptions of drones and missiles

on Sunday.

At least one person was injured by shrapnel in the UAE.

Threats of more attacks on energy facilities across the Gulf region have caused Asia's financial

markets to plummet.

Asian equities opened lower with sharp declines in South Korea, Japan and Hong Kong.

Oil prices have been volatile, swinging sharply as investors react to the escalating conflict

and uncertainty over the street of Homo's.

The international energy agency has called this the largest supply disruption in history.

In Iraq, authorities say three air strikes have targeted an Iranian-aligned armed group

in its stronghold south of Baghdad.

The group is a former paramilitary coalition called Hashad al-Shabi, also known as the

Popular Mobilization Forces.

Iraqi officials say the strikes came after an attack targeted a U.S. military complex near

Baghdad International Airport.
