Iran to decide next supreme leader, Israel strikes hotel in Beirut

There have been under relentless attacks by the US and Israel,

and now millions of people in Tehran are struggling with toxic pollution in the air.

The city is engulfed and smoke.

That's after the US and Israeli forces bombed Iran's oil storage

and refining facilities in the capital, choking its energy supplies.

Residents have described seeing oil contaminated, blackened rain.

People are being advised to avoid turning on their air conditioners

or to go outside immediately after any rainfall.

Tehran's governor has advised everyone to wear masks if they do go outside.

On the Israeli military as warned,

it will target anyone who replaces Iran's assassinated Supreme Leader Ali Hamine.

In a message posted on social media, the Israeli army said it would target any successor

and anyone responsible for the appointment.

The warning comes as Iran's clerical body is set to meet to decide

who will succeed Hamine.

He was killed in a US-Israeli strike just over a week ago.

Meanwhile, attacks continue right across the Gulf region,

which hosts US military assets.

That's despite the Iranian President apologizing to neighboring countries

and pledging to halt the attacks.

While Iran has also launched another barrage of missiles towards Israel,

air defense systems intercepted several of them over central and northern parts of the country.

There has been no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

And in Lebanon, 18 people, including children, have been killed after an Israeli attack

in the southern town of Sierra Al-Aqabia.

The Israeli military has been telling residents of southern Lebanon to leave their homes.

Israel has been targeting what it says are hisbalar sites.

The group is allied with Iran.

And earlier, the Israeli military also said it had targeted commanders

of Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps in the capital.

Lebanese officials say at least four people were killed

when a strike had a sea front hotel in Beirut.
