Rep Jim McGovern spoke about the state of the Republican Party on the floor of the House, The speech called the party out for falling back on the communist label to divert attention from the economy and from what is happening in the party more broadly, McGovern charged that the Republican Party has become the party of fascism, Fascism rejects the equality that defines democracy, It elevates a single man to be an all powerful dictator, Scholars have noted that such demagogues depend on a disaffected population, who focus on someone to hate, Fascism aligns the government and favored businesses as business activity is subordinated to the needs of the government, Trump has approved a deal to provide Saudi Arabia with a civilian nuclear program, This project is worth billions in contracts for US firms, MBS, Saudi’s crown prince, has declared he will build a nuclear weapon if Iran does, making this deal a blow to nuclear nonproliferation.
