Zalana, he got you sick.
0:09
Welcome everybody to episode number 84 of The Butterfound's podcast.
0:12
I'm your host Daniel Granada and alongside me is usually Daniel Solana, but he is not
0:17
But I don't blame him because he have everybody feeling sick.
0:21
Another embarrassing performance by the Miami Heat, they lose to the Toronto Raptors
0:27
and silly us, last episode, we were trying to figure out how could this team end up in the 5th or 6th?
0:34
I know we only have four games left, but it's still possible that they could miss the play-in.
0:40
They can work their way into the top 6.
0:43
And for some reason, we were on here seriously considering how could this happen?
0:48
Well, one of the things you needed to do was you needed to sweep the Toronto Raptors.
0:52
And you knew that, they knew that.
0:54
They needed it also.
0:55
You go in there into Toronto for the first time and you get embarrassed.
1:00
You get embarrassed yet again.
1:02
This isn't anything new.
1:03
The Miami Heat have been getting embarrassed since the 7-8 game win streak.
1:07
I already forgot at this point because it doesn't matter.
1:09
Since then, they've been getting embarrassed, night in and night out.
1:12
Since that streak happened, I believe there are three and nine in those last 12 games.
1:17
This team looks bad if it wasn't for that hot start in November.
1:22
And I have to go back and check, actually.
1:24
I should have done this before.
1:25
If it wasn't for that hot start in November, this wouldn't even be a playoff team.
1:29
They might be down there with the lights of the Milwaukee Bucks, let's say.
1:37
If I could do this real quick, I'm going to try to back my best to do this while still talking on here.
1:43
The Miami Heat embarrassed themselves yesterday when I was watching that game in the second quarter.
1:49
There was a point in the second quarter when the game was still closed.
1:52
The game might have been tight.
1:54
And one of the big men for Toronto are in the 3-point line, the pump fake.
2:00
Clear where it closes out.
2:02
And then the guy just steps right by him.
2:04
Takes it to the hole with absolutely no resistance, no rotation.
2:09
It was really, really bad, really embarrassing.
2:13
So the Miami Heat started the season.
2:18
By the time November ended.
2:20
So let's go with 13 and 6.
2:23
That wasn't even that great.
2:25
We got excited because better than we expected.
2:29
If you take 13 as 28 and 32.
2:32
So if you take the month of November, October, November, when they got to that hot start, they are 28 and 32.
2:40
Under 500, obviously, because they've been pissed poor.
2:43
The defense has been absolutely embarrassing over the last couple of weeks.
2:49
They gave up 121 to Toronto yesterday.
2:52
Now we were talking about Washington and how Washington was a gaming game, right?
2:55
Because Washington doesn't want to win.
2:57
But when you really think about it, the fact that you gave up 136 points to those Washington Wizards, that suck.
3:03
It's pretty embarrassing.
3:04
And then the game before that, 147 to Boston.
3:08
Two games before that.
3:10
Indiana, which is also tanking.
3:12
You get your ass kicked by a tank in team and they put up 135.
3:15
Then you have the Cleveland Cavaliers put up 149.
3:19
The game before that.
3:20
You got this, you got 136 here.
3:24
123 there, 134 there, 136 there.
3:28
So these are all scores of teams, the opposing teams are putting up this many points.
3:33
At one point on March 12 after we beat middle walk, which was the last game of that win streak, we were 38 and 29.
3:41
At that point, who really thought that we could end the season with 41 wins?
3:47
And it's a real possibility that we end up exactly at 500 and 41 and 41.
3:51
We're 41 wins right now with 3 games left.
3:53
We got Toronto again and Toronto needs this game.
3:56
They're fighting to stay up on the outside of the playing because they could still fall into the playing.
4:02
They're going to be coming for it.
4:04
And Miami, of course, Miami, when we count them out, they're finding miraculously win one game.
4:09
But they could very well lose that game.
4:11
Then you have Washington, which is again, tanking.
4:15
So just like you got that miracle win on Saturday where they're basically giving you the game, even though they score 136,
4:21
you're probably win that game also, which will keep you from staying 41 and 41.
4:25
And then you got Atlanta, which is fighting for playoff position.
4:28
You're probably lose that game also.
4:30
There's a real chance that this season is 42 and 40 after being 38 and 29, just less than a month ago.
4:41
They have clinched the playing yet again.
4:45
Now, one thing that I hadn't considered, and I'm not sure why I hadn't considered it just because I guess because the Miami Heat
4:50
or our play in champs that it didn't really cross my mind.
4:55
But now that I think about it, could be a blessing in the skies.
4:58
If you make it into the playing and you lose that first game.
5:04
So let's say Orlando, right?
5:05
You lose for the sixth time in a season.
5:07
First time in a history that you would lose to one opponent, six times without playing them in the playoffs.
5:12
But let's say you play into Orlando and you lose.
5:15
You're in the military.
5:18
Now, I have to confirm that you end up in the lottery, right?
5:22
I'm pretty sure that that's what I read.
5:24
That you end up in the lottery.
5:25
And I hadn't even thought about that.
5:27
Now, if you ask me, that's the best case scenario for Miami right now.
5:32
Because if the lottery is a possibility for the Miami Heat, the NBA does a pretty good job of rigging the NBA draft.
5:40
That's why I'm saying it.
5:42
And pain teams back when they've been done wrong.
5:48
Cleveland loses LeBron.
5:50
They get the first overall pick.
5:52
Cleveland loses LeBron again.
5:53
I believe they get the first round pick again.
5:54
You get New Orleans loses Anthony Davis.
5:56
They get the first pick.
5:57
You get Luca gets traded away inexplicably.
6:01
Feel bad for Dallas.
6:02
Give them the first pick.
6:04
Like those things happen.
6:07
And those are teams that usually don't have very good odds of winning the lottery.
6:11
If the NBA wants to pay back the Miami Heat for the crap that we had to put up with with the Terry Rose Year situation.
6:16
It might be able to pay us back.
6:23
So you can go through this horrible season.
6:27
But you get knocked out of the playing all of a sudden you end up in the lottery.
6:33
You can make things right.
6:36
You screwed us over with the Terry Rose Year thing, but you can make things right.
6:39
You can give the Miami Heat.
6:40
Like you gave Dallas last year.
6:42
You given Cleveland a couple of times.
6:45
You can give us the number one pick.
6:47
Or maybe number two, whatever.
6:49
There's two players that are coming out that are pretty good.
6:52
All of a sudden things change because yeah, the Miami Heat don't have a great roster.
6:56
But if you can draft a franchise player and put them around this roster.
7:01
Maybe this is a busting in the skies.
7:05
You just had to put up with this crap of a season.
7:07
This rollercoaster of a season.
7:09
And maybe things end up well.
7:11
So as you can see, I'm not very optimistic about the play again situation.
7:15
Because I'm already thinking lottery.
7:17
I think that that's the best case scenario.
7:19
And I think that that's where we might be.
7:22
And I mean, obviously, Lana wasn't here.
7:26
I didn't really feel like talking about this game too much, but just to touch on it.
7:29
The fact that very much the 83 points came out and threw up such a dud.
7:33
Which is seven points, one for seven from three.
7:36
It was just a bad performance overall.
7:38
A little where even though Toronto has size only played 17 minutes.
7:42
It's just so many negatives.
7:46
And we got a full strength yesterday, I believe.
7:50
Yeah, because I want to come back like full strength.
7:52
This is just embarrassing inside in the Miami Heat.
7:55
If again, I'm already thinking about lottery.
7:57
But if there's some reason that doesn't work out and they don't get a top pick.
8:01
The man here, he has to do something.
8:03
This team can't stand pat anymore.
8:05
Like it's been this case that we've been saying for the last couple of years.
8:08
And Norman Powell was a good pick up.
8:11
It was a bargain deal and the heat only deal in the bargain bin.
8:15
You got to get out of the bargain bin.
8:16
You got to spend some money.
8:17
You got to take some chances.
8:19
You got to lose a trade.
8:20
Oh, no, we can't lose it.
8:22
No, sometimes you got to do it.
8:23
You got to trade a clear where for Kevin Durant.
8:26
Maybe you got to do it.
8:28
But that said, just wanted to come on here and rent a little bit.
8:33
So, you know, we'd love to hear what he had to say.
8:36
But you know, I hope he feels better.
8:38
We'll be back on Wednesday, next year.
8:41
Thursday, I believe.
8:42
So we'll be back on Friday morning talking about probably another loss to the Toronto Raptors.
8:47
So until the next one.
