Jamie Glance Rising Star in 2027 Draft | NHL News

About this episode

Jamie Glance, the 17-year-old right-shot winger with the Saint John Sea Dogs, is quietly rising as a top-20 prospect for the 2027 NHL Draft. Despite his team being outshot in a recent game, Glance delivered a complete performance — posting perfect 50/50 splits on key metrics and scoring two goals, including the OT winner. Standing under six feet, he’s often overlooked but proves his value with relentless puck battles, smart anticipation, and offensive creativity. While teammate Alexis Joseph gets more buzz, Glance’s all-around game and upside could push him up draft boards before he heads to Boston University in 2027.

It's September 13th. Welcome in. This is NHL News Today, where your team meets AI. I'm Cory with the story. We're looking ahead to the 2027 NHL draft, and one name starting to pop is Jamie Glance. He's a right-shot winger currently playing for the St. John C. Dogs in the QMJHL. Last season, as a 17-year-old, he impressed with the U.S. National Team Development Program, and now he's aiming to build on that momentum. In a recent game against the Muskegon Lumberjacks, Glance's team was outshot significantly, but he personally held his own. At 5 on 5, his shot attempt, unblock shot attempt, shot and goal splits were all exactly 50%. Even though his team gave up two goals, they weren't directly his fault, and he managed to score to himself, including the overtime winner. Glance showed a pretty complete game in that match-up. He was battling for pucks, making steals, showing good anticipation both ways, and getting shots off.

He's not the biggest guy, standing under six feet, and sometimes players like that get overlooked for not having a high ceiling, but he's definitely. Got skill and offensive upside. He's got a multifaceted game, stealing pucks, anticipating plays, and showing promise in all three zones. While his teammate Alexis Joseph might get more attention, Glance has the potential to have a really strong season. He's not a finished product yet, and will need to keep growing, especially before he heads to Boston University in 2027. Right now, most draft analysts have Glance ranked somewhere in the 20s for the 2027 class. But with his skill set in all around game, there's a real chance he could climb up those rankings and become a player everyone is talking about.
