Jared Goff’s Cold Weather Breakthrough | NFL News

About this episode

Jared Goff, once known as a “dome QB” who crumbled in cold weather, turned his weakness into a weapon by adopting grip gloves—discovered in college and now essential for his game. After years of struggling in sub-45°F conditions, he’s thrived in brutal elements: throwing 18-of-22 in rain and wind against the Packers, then delivering a flawless performance with two TDs and zero INTs in freezing temps at Soldier Field. No longer hindered by the cold, Goff’s newfound confidence and precision could be key as the Lions face more frigid matchups this season.

On September 7th, alright, so the Falcons have officially named Tuha, Tagaviloa, our starting quarterback. This is a big deal because he's going to be their sixth different guy under center for a week one in a row. He beat out Michael Pennex Jr. for the job and will see him make his debut this Sunday against the Steelers. Now this whole quarterback situation has been a bit of a rollercoaster. Tagaviloa, who's 28, was released by the dolphins last year and then signed a one-year deal with Atlanta. Pennex on the other hand was dealing with another knee injury and couldn't really get going until late in training camp, missing out on a lot of the early action. Tagaviloa had a much clearer path to the starting role. Getting almost a full training camp and playing in two preseason games, his performance was a bit up and down though. He had some trouble with snaps, something that followed him from Miami, but he also showed flashes of what he can do, throwing for over a hundred. Guards in limited action.

Remember, Tagaviloa had some really strong years with the dolphins even winning a passing yard's crown. But last season was rough, with a lot of interceptions and Miami decided to move on. Now he's got a fresh start in Atlanta with some serious talent around him like Bijan Robinson and Drake London. The big question mark for Tuha is always health as he's only played a full 17 game season once. So for now, he's got the opportunity to prove he can be the answer to the Falcons long standing quarterback issues. I'm Cory with the story and you've been listening to NFL News today, AI-powered football coverage.
