Jesus Sanchez: Slower Bat Speed, Bigger Hits

On April 27, Toronto, BlueJay, sitting at 12 wins, 15 losses, fourth in the brutal AL East,

but one dude shining quiet is outfielder Jesus, Sanchez.

Traded over from the Houston Astros in February for Joey Laper-Fito, he's slashing 263 over

318, over 421, with a 1-0-7WRC plus, way above League average.

One day against the Cleveland Guardians, his two run homer in the sixth, broke a 2-2 tie,

and sealed the win.

He's dialed back to his old Miami Marlin stance, and data shows he's slowing his swing

big time.

Earlier this week, that adjustment paid off huge in the clutch homer.

Last fall, Bat Speed was all the buzz for the Jays in the playoffs, fueling their run.

Sanchez used to crush in the 80s and 90s percentiles, but now he's at 72.3 mph, just 56.

Percentile, his slowest ever since tracking started in 2023.

Dig into the numbers, expected batting average at 322 from quality contact, launch angle

up to 10.7 degrees for more line, drives 25.8% now, versus 17 before.

Ground balls down from 47.4 to 41.9, and he sprang to the opposite field 30.6% of 8 points.

carry over, defense, less speed, more pop, Sanchez proving slower, can straight dominate

this season.
