This program is supported by you, our viewers, and our partners. Let me do it in today's English. Mind your own business. That's in the Bible. Keep your mouth shut, mind your own business, and stay busy with your own hands. I'm Joyce Meyer. I've seen God's power transform my own life, and He will do it for you. I have this scripture on my wall in my office, 1 Peter 2, 23. When He was reviled and insulted, He did not revile or offer insult in return. When He was abused and suffer, He made no threats of vengeance, but He trusted Himself and everything to Him who judges fairly. I just think that's beautiful. He didn't get into that war with people all the time.
Do you know that what difference does it really make, what people say about you, and what they think about you? If they misjudge you, you are not going to stand before them on the final day, and give an account to them. We will only stand before Almighty God, and the Bible says in Romans that every man will stand before Him and give an account of their life. That's not going to determine if you're saved or not. That comes as a free gift from Jesus. But what we do in life, the Bible says, we will be rewarded for, or we will lose the reward. Now let me tell you, eternity is a long, long, very long time. And so I want to do it right, so I get the good rewards.
And I'm making sure that I leave this place stacked with messages. The word never gets old, never gets old. Paul Prado, dynamic prayer, it's in Philippians 3, and he said, that he let go of things that were behind and pressed toward the things ahead. And he said, listen to this, I don't know if you've ever really caught this. I'm going to take hold of those things for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. In other words, he knew the life that Jesus had provided for him, and he said, I'm going to let go of what's behind, and I'm going to take hold of everything that Jesus died for me to have.
And he wants you to have peace. He wants you to have a supernatural rest that's talked about. That you can enter the rest of God. And you know what, it's not a rest. If you study, do the word studies, it's not a rest from work, it's a rest in work. It's a soul rest, it's rest for your soul. And you can let your body down and still be just working yourself into a frenzy because it's what goes on inside you that creates all the anxiety. Oh, how wonderful. Will it be when we get to the point where all of our thoughts are good? Amen? I'm not there yet, but I'm like Paul. I'm on my way every day. I forget the mistakes I made yesterday. I'm like carrying that bag at your end with me.
Jesus died for my sins. He died so I don't have to live guilty. I'm pressing toward the things to take hold of those things for which Christ Jesus died to take hold of me. Thank you. Romans 12 says, we love it. Never avenge yourselves, but leave the way open for God's wrath. Frid is written. Vendus is mine. I will repay. Says the Lord. Now, we talk about this story about the woman taken in adultery. It's so amazing what Jesus did. They thought they had him in a trap because he kept the law. He actually kept it perfectly for us. That's why when they crucified him, they crucified a totally innocent man.
Son of God, son of man. And they thought they had him boxed in, boy. Now, she was caught in the act of adultery and the law says that you must stone her to death. Now, Jesus, what do you have to say about that? He gets down on the ground and starts writing around in the sand. I don't know that it matters what he was writing. I think what he was doing wasn't waiting to hear from his father. You know, you can't be running your mouth off and hearing from God the same time. Yeah, I just got so much stress. I don't think I can take much more of this.
Then change. Let somebody think they're right. Who cares? I mean, I've gotten good at it. Yes, honey, you're right. I mean, I know he's not, but I'm... Yes, honey, you're right. You keep your peace that way, amen? Oh, but it's so earth-full. You're flesh just... I mean, I could feel my flesh fighting with my spirit the other night. I mean, I felt literally like I was in a wrestling match with God. And I actually... It had been a long time since that happened to me and I kind of appreciated having the experience again. Just to remember how I used to live.
You might as well just give it up and make a decision. You're going to obey God and you're going to do it the first time. Not after you've gone around the mountain 35 times. And the answer he gave was so beautiful. He got up, said, let him who is among you without sin throw the first stone. And many didn't say anything else. See, sometimes we just... We say too much. We talk and talk. Boy, I'm so bad about this. Talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk. Try to correct somebody and then try to make them feel happy because I'm correct at them. Come on, have you ever done that? It's like...
And see, he just... He told him, if you're without sin, you can cast the first stone. Then he didn't say anything else. He just got back down and continued peddling in the sand. Boy, there's a lesson in that. And you know, Dr. Cloud, which we really love him, he comes and does a lot of good things for us. It's so nice to have a psychologist as a friend. Can call him up and say, Henry, what is wrong with me? But he talked about Mary and Martha, although he got them mixed up. And I had to correct him a little. But the interesting thing I want you to see is Jesus said, Martha Martha, you are anxious and troubled or worried about many things.
He did not tell her to stop working. He told her to stop worrying. It wasn't the work that was hurting her. It was the worrying that was hurting her. And just think how much better you could work if you could work in rest. In the rest of God. Let me just ask a silly question, say if I can get an honest answer. How many of you can think of something right now that you know God has told you to do and you just haven't done it? Okay, then don't wonder why you have problems. And I'm not trying to be mean. I'm just trying to shake you into reality that how valuable is peace. See, I came to the point where first of all, I grew up, I didn't even know what peace was.
I mean, my household was so nuts. I thought that's where everybody lived. You know, somebody was mad all the time. My dad was cussing all the time. You know, you went out every Saturday night and got drunk and come home with my mother said anything that aggravated him. He beat her up. When people grow up in a crazy house, you come out of it not having any right perspective on how a thing should be. And I didn't, I honestly did not know what peace was. I had never experienced it. Anybody else grow up in a place like that where you just see there's a lot of us. And some of you that raised your hand this in were the same ones that raised your hand that you knew of something that God had told you to do and you hadn't done it yet.
See, when you've been hurt really bad by somebody, you, you're even kind of lary about giving God full control. Because if I say I surrender to your will and I really mean it, see it's hard to put yes and sign your name on a contract when you don't know what's on it. And so I've said yes to God and I have no idea what he's going to ask me to do in these next few years. But I've already made my mind up that I'm going to do it. I belong to him. I'm nothing without him. I wouldn't want to live one more day without Jesus. And I'm ready anytime he wants to come get me.
But until then, I'm going to keep doing it. One more message. Thank you God for giving me one more message. First, that's an only in 411. I love this. Make it your ambition and definitely endeavor to live quietly and peacefully to mind your own affairs. Let me do it in today's English. Mind your own business. That's in the Bible. Keep your mouth shut, mind your own business and stay busy with your own hands. Today when I were pulling out of our driveway one day and we were talking about the man that lived next door, we didn't know his name.
He was a young man and he bought this big house and so we're saying why? Why does he want with a house that big? We stick our nose and stuff and it's like, and so we're having this big convert and Dave said, well maybe he did it for investment. And I thought, well, there's a lot of things he could invest in better but a big house, he's going to live in by himself. And then all of a sudden I thought, how stupid is this? We're in this big heated conversation about how this man is investing his money and we don't even know what his name is. That's the kind of stuff we stay busy with and then wonder why we have stress on anxiety. You know what? If you're stressed out because your schedule's too full, change it. Is that right, amen?
Our friend over here of me. That one's a big business and man he, everything I preach he like eats it up. Because you know what? You can only live with that kind of stress for so long and I want to tell you something. You cannot do it all and do it by yourself and survive. Oh my God, so much to say how much night do I have left? Eight minutes. So stress can come from getting entangled in other people's stuff. Anybody ever done that? Well I just wanted to help them.
Well did they want you to help them? You know I find they figured out if I've been trying to help you four years and you're still not helped, you don't want to be helped. The devil's is using you to steal my time and keep me upset. There are so many changes you can go home and make. I like goals and so my goal right now is to live in the moment that I'm in. Because he is I am. And that literally means I'm present right now. I am not I was or I will be I am. And I have such a bad habit of my minds always thinking about the next thing I'm going to do.
I get out of the car start getting out of the car before the days finish parking it. They tease me because I get my keys out of block before you home. I'm ready. And because I'm not you know I've got my mind on something all the time I'm not always paying attention to what I'm doing. I've gotten in a car with people I didn't know. I'm not. Wait. They are drivers security people. Here's it they drive white cars. And so I came out of cheesecake factory one day. Got in this white car with this lady. The problem was she knew me and it scared her to death. She's like.
I told him night I said. I went to go to the bathroom and I always go the wrong way. And I said sometimes you should just let me go and see where I end up. There's no telling us where I'd end up but say last me alone. I feel like I've got a whole team of people that's where I'm supposed to be. Now I hate to tell you but all of that was this morning's message. And now here's tonight. The definition of stress stresses the body's physical mental and emotional reaction to any demand or change. There are so many things changing in my life right now.
I finally got it through my head a few years ago that I could not keep doing everything I was doing. And one of the first things that had to go was overseas travel because it was very hard on me. I did not want somebody else to go in my place. I wanted to go. So I kept trying to go and then I'd be half dead when I got home and complaining to God about how tired I was. But finally I had to give it up. And you know I said this week I think it's harder to let go of things than it is to start things. You know what? Because I spent so many years working with God and a lot of other great people to build this.
I mean I used to do 36 of these conferences a year. I used to do 36 and take every speaking engagement. I mean it was not uncommon for me to preach 20 times a week or maybe two weeks. And then eventually it went down to 18. A few more years it went down to 12. A few more years it went down to 8. Then we went to 3. Then we went to 2. And here we are. But you know what God had to get through my head. See this is fun for me. It is not fun preaching to cameras. They don't laugh.
They have no emotion on their face. But I can reach more people in a half an hour doing a TV program at home in my studio that I can reach running all over America every weekend of my life. So I had to start working smarter rather than harder. Did anybody hear that? And I also want to make sure I leave you with this tonight. Simplify, simplify, simplify, simplify. Dr. Cloud sitting over here is such a wise point in that way. I think it was you that said something about when you invite a bunch of people over. When you get all stressed out because you got all these people in your house.
Oh man was I bad at that. After church on Sunday I'd say hey why don't you come over next Sunday after church and we'll put some hot dogs on the grill and play some croquet or whatever we did back then. And you know it sounded like fun. But as I got into the week. I thought no we really should have stakes. Couldn't afford. I could barely afford the hot dogs well on the stakes. But we got to impress people. And I cleaned the house and got Dave to plant some flowers. I was in the barbecue pit, motorhouse. But the time the people got there I didn't even like them. I didn't even want them to be there because I was already stressed out that they were coming.
And I was in such a Martha work mode. That if they were drinking a cup of coffee and they said it down for a minute I picked the cup up and go wash it. I did not know how to do anything simple. Now as you come to my house you're getting a hot dog. Because I don't care what you think. You know there are some advantages to getting old. You really kind of just don't care anymore. How many of you know that you could simplify some things? See you know what your problems are. All you need to do is start doing it. And most Christians to be honest if you've been around the word very long you know what to do.
You're agreeing with me that the whole point is are you going to go home and do it? Or shall I just come back next year and have the same seminar and you can all come again? No, you need to go home and do it. Have you ever wondered how Joyce became Joyce? She overcame unimaginable abuse.
