That's a perfect show.
I can't say it, I don't know.
Listen, it is a pretty dope shirt.
Absolutely.
If you want more of a classic, a staple,
that's a great one as well.
I like the color on that.
Oh, thanks.
What do we call that, salmon?
It said solid desert pink.
Exactly, exactly, LJ.
That's what I was thinking.
Another cool thing you get to do on Patreon
is you get to ask us questions.
And with those questions,
we do our reviews.
But before we get to those questions,
we like to talk a little bit about
the just our initial feelings
on coming right off of a movie,
especially a movie of this volume
that everybody's been talking about for months.
I think it's almost a year now at this point
that it's been out for.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Because it's a 2025 release.
Yes.
So, LJ hit me.
How'd you feel about K-pop demon hunters?
Wow, I am immensely surprised how much I enjoyed it
because I didn't know the plot at all.
I just assumed it was K-pop singers fighting demons
and that was it.
I didn't know about the hybrid demon storyline
with our main character, Rumi.
I didn't know that there was going to be this redeeming
quality to some demons.
I thought demons were strictly
like the villain, the bad guy,
the, you know, all that stuff.
So, ultimately, it was crazy that,
oh, there it is,
that I couldn't find it.
Find the scenes, little johns,
a little distracted.
No, yeah.
Oh, there it is.
No idea what the audience is talking about.
Yeah.
Don't keep going, my dude.
No, yeah, I know, yeah.
And honestly, what I'm genuinely surprised the most,
I was the allegorical commentary on like,
not, I guess, not self-esteem.
Would you say, or like your past,
your history, whether it be bad or good,
kind of haunting you to a certain degree.
I, that got me emotional.
I didn't, I got like a little bit moved
to where because something, I forgot
to what the song was at the very end about like,
your scars, you don't have to lie about it anymore,
or something along those lines.
But that was moving.
I didn't, I didn't, again,
I didn't know anything about the movie,
so I didn't expect that.
Like I, that's a really deep concept to like even dive into,
into such a like a, again, not children's,
but like a animated movie that would gear towards
or lean towards a child audience or children audience.
So like, or a younger audience, I should say.
And so it reminds, there, there's so many,
like, there's this Japanese word.
Oh my gosh, what, I guess, I think it's called,
Kaizen for self-improvement.
No, Kaizen is,
constant improvement, constant development.
It's Kitsugi or Kinsugi.
I think I'm getting it wrong.
Just tell us what, what is the,
it means that like when every,
when you, when you break like a, a China,
or, or something valuable,
you put it back together with gold,
because those cracks, and it makes it more beautiful.
So you're, you're, you're broken self or whatever,
isn't a negative thing.
It's a positive thing, right?
Yeah, something along those lines.
I forgot what that, yeah, but,
that's beautiful though, I get what you're saying.
Yeah, yeah, it reminds me of that,
that kind of, the whole plot of the movie kind of thing.
So, but yeah, I'm, I'm genuinely,
and thoroughly surprised how much I liked it.
I, I'm not saying I wasn't going to like it,
but how much more depth it had.
I knew it was a good movie from all the talk around it,
and it makes sense why one, uh,
two Oscars last night.
So, yeah, how about you?
How'd you like it?
I feel so with you.
I, I think this movie just worked on so many levels,
that's why I touched so many different kinds of audiences.
Like, I knew when back of the day,
John and Greg, big John and Greg did a reaction.
They were, they went to go see this in the movie theater.
Oh, wow, wow.
Um, and, and they were like singing every lyric,
and Greg said he was like crying,
and they're so connected to the movie.
And then I was talking to my little cousin.
She was like, this is the greatest movie of the year.
And then we see people that are orange,
you see people that are 20 years old,
you see people 20 years younger than us,
dressing as these characters.
I knew when it started to, when we started to see all that,
and not to mention people who were,
um, Black, Asian, white, like the boys girl,
and everywhere, everybody,
they didn't seem to be one type of audience member that loved this.
Yeah, yeah.
That it probably had something really special to it.
Absolutely, yeah.
And then of course, seeing it when the two Oscars,
all of that before we watched it,
I was like, I don't even think this could possibly be a rep hyped for us,
because I haven't talked to one person who was like,
yeah, it was okay.
Yeah, true.
Like everybody was just like,
no, and now I get why?
It's because on all the different levels, right?
Like the plot is really inspirational,
and I think that even at the end,
when we see Zoe and Mira start to face their inner demons.
Yes, yes.
As they're coming forward, it's not just Rumi,
it's not just, um, the actual demons,
it's not just Genu, it's every one of us has things
that we wish we didn't do from our past,
or wish didn't happen to us from our past,
or that we feel shame about,
or that we overthink, or that we ruminate,
which I don't think it's a surprise,
that our name is Rumi.
We're ruminating on.
And so I feel like those concepts,
and all of that, that really worked for me.
I also think it's always really smart,
when you have a movie where it's like,
who are you? Are you Rumi?
Are you Mira?
Yeah, sure, yeah.
You relate to more.
Yeah.
Their vibes were very different.
Their aesthetics were very different.
Their up rings were very different.
And so like at first, I'm like,
oh, I love Rumi, but then I was like,
I'm a Mira.
I know myself from Mira.
Sure, sure.
It's like when you watch friends,
or you watch Seinfeld,
or you watch any of these things,
and you're like, who are you?
Well, character you are, right?
So it does that.
Then the songs aren't just like little puff piece songs.
Yes.
The songs, the lyrics are beautiful.
They're absent bangers.
So it had just everything.
And then having the romance with Genu,
the sacrifice, the elements of friendship
and coming together and supporting one another,
talking about your secrets, denial, lies,
like just everything that you could want from a movie
this nailed.
Just wow, chef's kiss as good as I had hoped it had been.
Hell yeah.
Yes, yes.
I'm curious what the people at home
are wanting to know from the show.
So let's get to some of these Patreon questions.
Here we go, starting with Pierre, the reject.
Pierre says,
hello, little John and Roxy.
Glad this movie won Best Animated Feature.
And it got me into K-pop.
Oh, that's cool.
That is cool.
What was your favorite songs in the movie
and what would you want in the sequel
which not be released until 2029,
or later?
Oh, okay, damn.
I want to make it that long.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's something to live for, right?
Favorite songs?
It's hard to not say golden, obviously.
Yeah, yeah.
I was leaning towards that already.
From jump.
Yeah.
The voice inside my head song at the end
was really good as well.
Yes.
Um, it's interesting about take down
because while I love that song,
they had such qualms with that song.
Yes, yes.
You know, they were like the hatred in this song.
And I was like,
oh, I hear you.
Like the vibe and the beat is so great,
but the lyrics aren't as inspirational
as something like golden or the voice inside my head.
Mm-hmm.
Um, and then I like the boy band songs too a lot.
Yeah, yeah.
The soldier boy's songs.
No, I think yeah, with take down,
I agree with you.
But the little um,
changes that Rumi made,
again, it's not the full song.
Right.
That kind of made it better.
But again, we don't get to see that fully,
you know, um,
realized because they never really sing it
unless in the third act of the movie.
But um, favorite song has to be golden, right?
Like I, or no,
I would lean towards that last song,
whatever it's called.
Yeah, your voice is inside of my head.
Yeah, it was, it was so good.
Uh, the, my little soda pop was fluff.
But yes, definitely fun fluff.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Introduction to the soldier voice, for sure.
But then we had the,
your idol song,
the preaching to the choir,
one of theirs.
That was really good.
And very demonic at the end.
Yes, yeah.
You know, kind of riding me like no strings attached
with their movements.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Um, in the beginning, we had that song done, done, done,
which they referenced a couple of times.
Yeah, really liked as well.
Uh, I honestly will listen to the soundtrack
over and over and I will watch this movie
until the day I die.
Yeah, I watch this 80.
I got to watch it again.
Um, before we get to more Patreon questions,
I forgot that I promised you guys something.
Lil Jon.
Yeah, what are our resident dancer?
Oh, okay.
We were moving for the whole movie.
Yes, we were.
I need a little lesson.
School me for a second.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay, so for that,
for the people who don't know,
what's your dance background?
So, uh, I'm, uh,
I'm considered a B-boy.
I've been breaking for
twenty-three years now since 03.
Um, and yeah.
And is breaking and K-pop go together ever?
Is that like,
I don't know.
That's, that's a good question.
I, this is kind of my full,
legitimate introduction to K-pop.
I mean, I know of the music,
but like, I've never really,
I mean, I know of what's their,
what do they think?
No, BTS.
Like, yeah, yeah.
I'm aware of them.
I have never really listened to their music.
Um, and no shade against them.
I just, I just, I never lean towards that.
Um, so with breaking,
oh, so there's a big,
breaking, um,
presence in Korea in South Korea for sure.
Um, they're arguably one of the best countries
to represent, to be honest.
Um, but was any of the dance moves
in this breaking?
No, I didn't see any breaking.
Yeah, yeah, um,
I don't know enough to know.
No worries. No, yeah.
Uh,
I can do that with our hands.
So that's the thing.
So breaking, uh,
for those who want to get really educated on this,
um, breaking is the,
like the gymnastics looking
engagement on the floor, right?
It's like you're spinning on your head,
your elbows, all that stuff.
Become an Olympic sport, man.
Yes, exactly.
Um, so, uh,
so break dancing is,
uh, I told us to tear it.
I guess we can share it with you guys.
Breakdancing is not our term.
We, I'm sorry.
No, no, no, no, no, no.
Yeah, no, you have nothing to apologize for.
I'm thinking the dancer, he's like, I'm not a breakdance.
No, no, no, no, no.
So breakdancing is a media term that they,
they created and it was never our term, right?
So breaking is, is our the term we use.
Um, and, um,
among, among the hip hop street dance,
umbrella,
there is breaking and there's something called popping.
And so I'm not a popper that's,
like, oh, so think of the robot.
Okay.
That's what popping kind of is, right?
Like,
it's isolations of the muscles,
whatever, and you look like a robot,
or you're literally popping your,
so I'm not going,
I can't teach you a breaking move.
Because of the room, I can teach you
a popping thing that I know.
Well, yeah, yeah, I can't pop.
Yeah, they're vague.
I didn't even think about that.
And then we're getting to your questions,
but I needed to share the talent,
the skill.
So this is something that I can do just for fun
when I'm vibing out like at a bar that has a dance floor.
Um, okay.
There's space.
No, you don't have to, it's, it's really simple.
So okay, it's, okay, I'm going to do it first.
And I'm pretty sure, I'm pretty sure you can,
it's easy.
So it's kind of like a isolation.
So all you got to do is your,
oh, hand on your chin,
and you give yourself like a double chin.
And then you push your chest out,
and it looks like you're going back.
Okay, wait, so hand on my chin.
So I protrude your chin out more,
so it could be easier, right?
I'm here.
So, and then push in,
and then push your chest.
Wait, chest in or out?
Chest in, yeah.
Okay, so, um.
The, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
So I don't know if you can see my profile.
So it's supposed to look like this,
in that, in this, in that,
and it's like a staircase going downwards.
You can, so when you do push your chest down,
your, your chin should stay where it was put.
Oh.
So yeah, kind of,
hey, it's so, yeah, so far.
Okay, okay, there you go, there you go, yeah,
that's it, that's it, that's it, really quick.
If you're not trying at home,
are you really living?
I know, there you go.
Shame, no shame.
All right, here we go.
Let me start with something honest.
I'm not the most hardcore sports person in the world,
believe it or not,
but I am hardcore with my love for my wife.
She's the reason I even discovered fantasy sports.
She and her friends play together,
and I wanted a way to join in without needing to know
every stat sheet in existence.
That is actually how I discovered price picks.
Price picks is a daily fantasy sports app
where you build lineups by picking more or less
on player stat projections.
You pick two to six players,
and if your picks are right,
you have the opportunity to cash in.
It's basically fantasy sports built around player stats
instead of drafting entire teams.
So it feels way easier to jump onto,
especially for someone like myself.
You can pick from tons of sports,
basketball, baseball, hockey,
UFC, golf, tennis, e-sports, and more,
whatever those more are.
They have great features like the early payouts,
the stacks, and flex play.
Price picks, they operate in all 50 states
and that includes California,
and which roles are fast and secure.
So, rejects.
You can download the price picks app today
and use code rejects to get $50 in lineup
after you play your first $5 lineup.
That's code rejects to get $50 in lineups
after you play your first $5 lineup.
Price picks.
It's good to be right.
A little John Hedges with J-Dale.
J-Dale says, hi, John Roxy.
In the movie, the group's music is literally
part of how they fight evil.
Oh yeah, I guess I didn't really realize that.
Do you think the movie is saying
that performance and identity are forms of power
or that fame itself can become a kind of weapon?
Both because it depends on what side you're on
because we see a boy band using fame as a weapon.
Right.
We see the girls using it to defeat that.
I think that that's, you know,
it's always, all powers can be used for good or evil.
Mm-hmm.
All weapons can be used for good or evil.
Absolutely, yeah.
The power of speech and the weapon of speech
is one of those including singing and voice and also this.
Mm-hmm.
Sure.
Yeah, definitely.
That's it.
Sure, definitely.
100%.
You're off the same thing.
So yeah, performance and identity in general
can be our forms of power definitely.
And like, I could agree with what you're saying.
Like, be used for good or evil.
Just how you use it, right?
Or fame itself.
That's a little more on the nose and easier and obvious.
But yeah, I would say yes.
So yeah, go ahead.
Tom Astority, K-pop demon hunters love this movie,
but I do wish it was a little longer
and they show more of the history of the girls
becoming demon hunters, especially our roomy and her guardian.
I just think it makes the climax hit a little harder.
Do you agree or disagree?
To have it a little longer.
So I mean, in regards to having a history
of their training montage or something,
or like them becoming?
I think we see that, you know, there's always three,
but we don't know exactly like how these three were.
Oh, yeah, came together and stuff.
I think that's what this person saying.
For me personally, I don't actually think it needed to be longer.
I feel like, especially if they're going to do a sequel,
we can kind of do flashbacks.
But as this movie is already an hour, 40 minutes,
and as it does cater to kids,
I just don't think that any of that backstory is necessary
in order to see this group.
If we were going to see more of anybody,
although I would have watched five hours of this,
but if you're going to see more of anybody,
I am kind of curious about the demons
that were not Genu.
Ah, yes, yeah, yeah.
How about y'all?
Right. Like what y'all do?
Yeah.
Romance and Abby on them.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Because you guys are just down for the cause.
Yeah, we're going to take these girls out,
but there's also some flirty vibes going on too.
So I don't know, just,
but I understand why they didn't say that here,
because we, that'd be a whole different movie,
which is why I'm excited for a sequel.
Definitely.
No, yeah, I don't think it needed to be longer.
That would have been cool,
but yeah, I don't, it doesn't need it.
It's almost like, I know this sounds cliche,
but like it's perfect how it is.
Yeah, I agree, I agree.
What do we got with resonance?
Resonance says, glad to see another reaction to the movie.
I would say I hope you to enjoy the movie,
well, apparently we did.
But I already know you didn't, okay.
The way the action in the fight scene synced up
with the music was just amazing.
Question, which character do you feel closest resembles
or resonates with you?
Here we go.
Hope you two have a great rest of your day
with the song stuck in your head.
But yeah, that's happening for sure.
We're going up, yeah.
I actually, I felt conflicted about you.
I could go through all of the real rejects
and tell you who I feel like they can show you.
Oh, cool.
I felt a little conflicted about you.
Because I think that you are a Rumi Zoey Cross, Reed.
Okay.
How do you feel you are?
Hmm.
Hmm.
Good question.
Wait, how did you come?
I need to know your process.
Why do you need to know your answer first?
Oh, who I resonate with your assessment.
Who you resonate with?
Damn it.
I don't know.
Damn, that's a good question.
I leaned towards ironically, Mira.
Huh?
Because I'm, oh, I can see why you would think
someone like Zoey.
Because I'm,
wait, what was her issue or not?
Not her issue, but.
The last issue and more, just like,
she's had all these ideas,
but she didn't know that anybody would care about them.
Oh, right.
She was talking about the end when she's walking.
She is like, I'm too much or whatever.
Oh, sure.
The reason is because you've opened up on the channel
before about some of your things with yourself.
And like, for Rumi, I do feel like she felt like she had
to kind of hide things inside before she opened up.
So that I felt like kind of resonated
with some of the things that you've shared before.
Definitely.
But with Zoey, it's more her personality
that I felt like she's very bubbly
and like brings a lot to the table.
And you're usually in a freaking mood too.
I, I hope so.
Yeah, so I felt like you're kind of a mixture of the two of them.
Oh, that's so sweet.
Oh, thanks, Rumi.
What about Mira, that kind of?
I mean, I just, maybe because it was very, no.
Yeah, that's a wrong assessment.
I think I jump to it because I have,
it seems like Mira is a little more cynical
than all among all three of them.
And sometimes I have my episodes of cynicism,
but yeah, and through your assessment,
I lean towards Zoey mainly because.
I would say that for you if I had to pick one.
Yeah, because she was also correct me for long.
She was insecure about like being too much
and being a people, please wait that exactly.
So yeah, I would lean towards that.
And then Rumi having to deal with a lot of her,
like what she's hiding, I don't know if I was hiding anything,
but like, I get it.
Yeah, Zoey probably, and also it's weird
because that's my ex-girlfriend's name.
Oh, that's so weird, cover for you.
I'm definitely a Mira.
Fair.
I feel like I have, everybody's got like little bits
and pieces of other people, but I definitely come off
when she was giving her monologue,
like before I met you guys, I felt like it was a weakness
and I'm a brace of an aggressive,
and it's very blunt and say exactly what I mean.
And I'm definitely all of those things,
but I do like that about myself.
Yeah, that's a good thing, yeah.
At this age, you know, I think when I was younger,
I was just like, when I moved to LA,
I was like, why do people just not really like me here
coming from Boston?
Oh, sure.
And then now I'm just like, yeah, who can hand whatever.
Absolutely.
Yeah, I'm pretty good too.
So yeah, and I also think she's also still a good person
and she, while she was like trying to give roomy
the opportunity to come, you know,
she really was like clocking the situation.
She was like a good reader of people,
which I think I am too.
She was coming on so strong that she was actually
giving room for roomy too open.
Yeah, and I've been definitely known to do that before.
Cool, well yeah.
Okay, let's see, Jaden Rhodes.
Jaden says, my question is, do you all think
this movie deserved the win for Best Animated Movie?
At the Oscars last night, I really liked the movie,
but I personally much preferred Zootopia 2.
I didn't see Zootopia 2.
Neither have I.
I've only seen the first one.
Yeah, it sounds like we have a reaction.
There we go.
And it just released on Disney Plus,
like I think yesterday or something.
So it's unfair for us to answer this question,
but what I will say is, yes, I do think
that this deserved Best Animated Movie.
And I also think just with the story of the actual,
like performers and the people who worked on this
and their Oscar run and then how that displayed on screen,
it was never gonna go to Zootopia 2.
A lot of this is about like the campaign
and there shouldn't be, it would have been
the biggest shock of the night if this didn't win.
I agree, it had so much momentum
and it makes sense why it did.
Now that I've seen the movie,
so was it deserved the win?
Absolutely, and I can only say that mainly
because it's one of the only nominees I've seen, I think.
I don't remember, whatever the other nominees,
I remember thinking like, oh, I haven't seen a lot of those.
So I would say it's deserving of it
because it's actually very good only.
But you don't know by comparison.
Yes, yeah, there you go, yeah, yeah.
Final question coming from Jay Russian.
Jay Russian asks, question, what's your favorite Asian food?
Great question.
We saw a lot of good looking food in here,
and there was a lot of sushi being featured
and I was like, oh, I love sushi.
And a lot of, yeah, it's cool to get Korean cultural
kind of exposure of Korean food
because apparently a lot of cinema
doesn't really show that.
So it's especially mainstream kind of movies like this.
Yeah, agreed.
And a lot of different types of Asian food
that isn't just Korean that they showed too.
I think that what's so difficult about this question,
obviously, is that you asked specifically Asian,
if you would ask Korean, I would have had a solid answer,
but for Asian food, I mean like,
how are we gonna compare Korean to Chinese?
Yeah, that's hard.
Chinese to Indian to, like there's just so many good.
Yeah.
But if you had to had to pick one Asian food,
what would it be?
Oh, man, that's tough.
Ironically, I would lean because I'm a big carnivore meat eater.
I probably lean towards Korean barbecue, right?
Like you get,
Oh, what's the food?
What's your, oh, I get, that's the genre.
Yeah.
KBQ slap.
Right, right.
Bulgogi or, or what's it called?
You like the red meat.
Yeah, a lot of red meat for sure.
Yeah.
How about you?
What's your answer?
I don't think that this is a solid answer,
but I will say that like,
if I could only pick one for the rest of my life,
like, because sushi is too broad, right?
There's so many kinds of sushi,
so like I can't really say sushi, right?
Yeah.
I think that my answer ultimately would be fried rice.
Hi, that's cool.
Yeah.
I love fried rice.
Yeah, yeah.
Specifically pork fried rice.
Oh, cool.
I feel like I can eat pork fried rice
for every meal for the rest of my life.
I'd be happy.
I can't worry you with you.
I think you can put different veggies in it,
different meats in it, whatever.
Have you ever had real KFC Korean fried chicken?
I don't know.
Yeah.
Where is it?
You can,
there's so many famous Korean fried chicken.
I've had a lot of Korean food, so probably.
Yeah, Korean fried chicken is like known
for really crispy, really.
Like I don't also lean towards that.
Does it come in like wings form almost?
It can, yeah.
Definitely, yeah.
I don't think I've had.
Yeah, I mean, there's just way too many to pick from.
Absolutely.
Believe your favorite Asian food in the comments.
Hell yeah.
Appreciate you guys.
Anything else that we got to tell the people,
other than the fact that we'll be back in 2029 or later
to cover a keynote interview, too.
I can't wait to rewatch this and really dissect it more.
But yeah, I hope you guys took a lot from the movie
because it's actually a pretty deep psychological
kind of reflection.
I agree.
It's pretty cool.
But yeah, I enjoyed it.
I agree.
I hope that Genu is still alive some of us.
Oh, and then he's like in the sequel himself?
Yeah, I do.
Cause I want a Genu Rumi romance.
Fair.
I think that that's...
Did you feel like a lot of,
do you ever watch a Lollolan?
Yeah.
Do you ever feel like there was like,
omajas to it?
Like it?
That's interesting when the two of them are dancing up
at the start or whatever.
Yeah, I could see exactly what you're saying.
Yeah.
I really was focused on the Josie and the Pussycats element
of this, which is not as deep of a movie if I'm just being
honest.
Yeah, yeah.
But it is as fun.
Like it's got that.
Right.
But yeah, I could see the Lollolan elements.
It had a lot of borrowed from different things,
even mirror mirror on the wall.
Yes, that's true.
Like it did reference a lot.
It was very self-aware.
Yeah, excellent.
I'm going to not only just rewatch the movie,
but I'm going to rewatch our reaction.
I'm going to listen to the soundtrack of my way home.
And I'm going to do all the things.
And I'm going to be back here with Lil Jon in 2029 or later
for the sequel.
We'll see you next time.
Yeah.
Later, Rejects.
