Hello, fabulous Squiz Kids quizzes and welcome to the kids' versus adult weekly news quiz. Your chance to prove who's been paying the most attention to the week that just wads. I'm Bryce Corbin. Now you all know how this works. We're going to give you five questions for kids about what's been happening in the world around us for the past week. Then five questions for adults. Whoever answers the most correct questions is the winner. Easy. Plus, of course, because it's a Friday, we'll have all of today's birthday shout outs and all the shout outs for the weekend ahead. Including my dear friend, the birthday reggae tune, because it wouldn't be a Friday without it. Alright folks, you're ready?

1:02Let's do this. Okay kids, here are your five questions. Question number one, we started the week with news of a winner in a wildlife competition similar to Fat Bear Week in Alaska, where what sort of large mountain dwelling rodent was being monitored to see which one had put on the most weight over summer. And I'll give you a hint. They start with M and they make famous by the movie Groundhog Day. Did you say Marmat? Well done to you. Question number two, we also heard in the podcast this week, how a bird in a seaside town in England was working to help the owners of a fish and chip shop keep other birds, just like him, away from customers, scaring them off before they swooped down and snatched chips away. What sort of bird am I talking about? I'll give you a hint, you see a lot of them whenever you're near a beach.

2:08Yes, I'm talking about seagulls, hands up who's ever had a chip stolen by a seagull. Me too. Question number three, in a special edition of the podcast on Monday, we explained what had happened in Nepal to cause the devastating floods there. What mountain feature, starting with G and made of ice, rock and mud, slid off a Himalayan mountainside to create the disaster? That's right, it was a glacier. Question number four, we also heard in the podcast this week, how a mysterious floating island had been spotted bobbing around a large lake in which country. And I'll give you a hint, this is a country that's famous for ice hockey and maple syrup. Well done if you said Canada. Question number five, and Christy told us in the pod on Wednesday about how a homeowner in

3:08Denmark was doing some gardening when they stumbled upon a buried treasure from the past. Starting with V, and made famous by the How to Train Your Dragon series of books, movies and TV shows, what is the name given to the ram, paging, sea ferras of Scandinavian history? Did you say Vikings, you would be correct. Alright, how'd you go? Be honest, do you reckon you've just blitzed the adults kids? Good for you. Now just before we dive into the adult questions, here's what's coming up in this week's Squiz Kids Science Short. Imagine pressing print and instead of a boring old piece of paper, out popped a toy dinosaur, a chocolate sculpture or even a part for a rocket engine. This week, Christy investigates Ethan's excellent question, how do 3D printers work?

After they followed the lead of US President Donald Trump and changed the name of Lake Ontario. What did they change the name to as per Trump's wishes? Well done if you said Lake America. Question number five, Australian PM Anthony Albanese whacked on his best colourful shirt this week as an attendee at the Pacific Island Forum.

6:12In which tiny island nation starting with P and renowned for its scuba diving did the forum take place? Take about if you said Palao. Alright adult, how did you go? Who is the winner this week?
