The Los Angeles Kings beat the New York Islanders 3-2 on Friday night at UBS Arena.

Anze Coppitar scored a key goal, putting him just one point away from tying Marcel

Dion's franchise record of 1,037 points.

Coppitar, in what could be his last NHL season, now has 1,306 points with 448 goals and

800, 58 assists over 2-4 to 4 games.

Dion reached his total in fewer games, with 550 goals and 757 assists.

Trevor Moore and Adrian Kempi also scored for the Kings, who improved to 2 wins, 0 losses

and 1 tie on their 5-game road trip.

Darcy Quimper stopped 20 shots in net.

The Kings jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period, but Emil Heinemann scored twice

for the Islanders to pull them within 1.

Bo Horvatt added 2 assists, as Ilya Sirokin made 24 saves.

In the final seconds, the Islanders got a 6 on 4 chance after double minors, but the

Kings blocked the last shot to hold on.
