Kirkby's Pride in Place Fund Kicks Off: First Projects Approved

On March 26, Kirkby is set to see his first projects from a 20 million pound pride-in-place

fund kickoff in the coming months after government.

Approval of the investment plan, this funding, awarded back in 2023, will roll out over the

next 10 years to boost the local area.

Ashefield District Council teamed up with the Kirkby Town Board, which includes residents,

counselors, business reps, educators, health care folks, and even the local MP to shape

the vision and proposals.

The board has about 40 ideas on the table, touching everything from high-street upgrades

and heritage to skills training, health, transport, safety, and education.

These aim to build stronger communities, create thriving spots, and empower locals to shape

their own future.

Three projects got the green light right away.

First, a digital inclusion push will give every year 10 students starting in September

2026, a Chromebook for a two-year pilot at Outwood, Academy, helping them through school

and beyond.

Then, Morvern Park is a new, all-weather multi-use games area to fight inactivity and boost

youth options.

Finally, Titchfield Park upgrades his pitch and adds changing rooms for more football,

netball, and basketball action.

With community input driving at all, these steps mark the start of making Kirkby a safer,

happier place to live, work, and play for years to come.
