Red Sox pitcher Cutter Crawford is battling back from a string of injuries that sidelined

him all last season.

He started this year on the injured list with a knee problem, then tweaked his wrist off

the field, and now elbow irritation has hit during rehab.

He got pulled after just one minor league outing, and skipped all of spring training thanks

to the flu and slower recovery than planned.

It's been a rough grind for the right hander who's been shut down again.

Crawford says he's feeling okay overall, but the elbow flexor tendon is inflamed and

needs time to regain strength.

Imaging showed no major structural damage, just irritation from that rehab start.

Last year he led Boston with 183 and two thirds innings over 33 starts and a 4.36 ERA.

And healthy, he might slide into the bullpen or fill rotation gaps if more arms go down.
