Labor's Seniors Card Expansion: 80K More Beneficiaries

South Australia's labor government has promised to expand the seniors' card ahead of Saturday's

election.

The change would open perks, like free public transport and discounts, to an extra 80,000

older residents aged 60 and over, no matter there, work hours.

Right now, the card goes only to permanent residents 60 or older, working fewer than

20 hours a week.

This plan would drop that limit and also extend eligibility to Aboriginal South Australians

aged 50 and above.

This move aims to ease cost of living pressures, with benefits like round the clock free rides

on Adelaide Metro services.

Card holders already enjoy fuel savings as some stations, cheaper cinema tickets, and

deals at local stores.

About 500,000 South Australians are 60 or older, and roughly 420,000 already have the card.

People say the expansion would cost 8 million dollars over 4 years.

Minister for Human Services, Nat Cook calls a real relief that keeps seniors connected and

supported, benefiting the whole community of labor winds.
