Laborer Convicted in Manslaughter of Mother of Two

On March 24, a 42-year-old laborer from Coventry has been convicted of manslaughter in the death

of 33-year-old Riann Colson, A. Time.

Mother of two, jurors cleared him of murder, but found him guilty by an 11-to-1 majority

after learning he hid her body under a mattress in his flat, which, police mistoring a search,

just hours after the incident on May 21, last year.

He later buried the remains in nearby Woodland and even tried to burn part of the body with

petrol.

Right after the killing, the man faked a mental health crisis on police body cameras

and made up a story about his father having cancer to throw.

Officers off.

He claimed she died from a cocaine overdose during a binge, but evidence pointed to neck

and head injuries from an attack.

Weeks later, on June 27, he led police to the burial site near Bratoway.

Riann's family has been left heartbroken, describing her as a devoted mother, sister,

and daughter.

These have provided support throughout the investigation and trial, expressing deep regret

over missing her body in that initial search.

A friend and fellow worker, 39-year-old Adam Moore, was also convicted of helping dispose

of the body the next day.

He denied it, saying he was just looking for his friend in the woods.

Police reviewed the failed search and found no misconduct, though they identified some

learning opportunities that have now been put in place.

Both men face sentencing on Thursday.
