Lane Kiffin can't risk LSU be penalized

Mike DeCollege football playoff has issued a statement in support of conferences concerning professional athletes returning to college. The CFP strongly supports the positions and rules of individual conferences concerning the return of college of colleges of the athletes with professional experience. Bottom line is they're in lockstep with everything we've heard from whether it's the ACC, the SEC, the Big 10. This should be no surprise. But again, when you've got judges making these rulings as they did in Louisiana to say, oh, of course they're eligible. I mean, come on, they should get another fifth year, it was 2022. And until you go into these higher courts. You've got to get them out of the local jurisdictions with these local hacks. By the way, I call the governor of Louisiana hack on his Twitter page.

1:02Hey man, because that's what these guys are, man. It's ridiculous. Political football part of the fund. The latest in Indiana court issues a temporary restraining order. TROs, man. We should be talking about like, you know, other acronyms and TROs, it comes in sports. But anyway, at the same thing, eligibility, which means that Kellyn Wyatt, Stephen Daley, can play for Indiana. That's right. And now the question is, remember, the SEC said you shouldn't be doing this, they didn't say it's going to be penalized. And then the big tent said, we're going to penalize it. Then the SEC said, we're going to penalize it. So the question now is, does the big tent drop the hammer on Indiana? They're golden child right now, whether coming off the national championship. Right? I don't know. Here's the thing. Petit, he was, if Petit talked this tough game that the SEC then turned around and backed up. So now it's the same exact situation as LSU, but it's Indiana. Yeah. So is the big tent going to step up to the plate? It's a good question. And again, we're not going to get any resolution this weekend. I just want to see if Lane suits these guys. There's no way I want to see if he suits them. Now what's the violation if they're in uniform?

2:03Or I mean, I mean, that's a play. There is no violation. Basically, they have been cleared. Right. But it's still, but again, retro, then I finally, whatever the high court is, the federal court, federal court. Yeah, yeah. I always use the Bugs Bunny as the highest court in the land. But the judge who snaps it down, then of course, it goes back to these guys who are knowledgeable. These games are vacated. And that seems to be the risk that a lot of legal experts keep saying this is a strong possibility. You know what? Back at the studio, okay, we play that poll fine bomb because it's interesting you say that, Mike. Because he's saying the same thing I am. I just don't think Lane's going to risk this. You guys, I said, yes, he's not going to play these guys. You're going to risk the season. You spit almost more money than anybody on your roster. They're paying him a lot of money as the new head coach of LSU. And you're telling me you will and the risk this over a couple of guys. I just don't buy that. Paul Fine Bomb agrees with us when it comes to this. And we'll see again, LSU, who runs out there on the field, trust me. It will be the topic of conversation, Mike, for the announcers as soon as the LSU comes onto the field.

3:05And they're like, there he is. Here's Paul Fine Bomb talking about it. Maybe I'm trying to be practical and pragmatic, which is really idiotic when we're talking about Lane Kiffin. But I just cannot believe that Lane Kiffin will put his entire career on the line by spitting in the face of the SEC. And in particular Greg Sanky considering that Sanky has helped Kiffin along the way when things were very difficult for him in his career. I believe there is as crazy as this sounds, a deep personal connection that Kiffin feels like he owes Sanky something. And I'm trying to use logic and I know that may sound crazy early in the morning across the country. But I believe at the end of this day, Kiffin will back down now. It may be nuanced. I don't believe they're going to play as far as the roster. I know we're talking technicalities, but I don't believe that that university will put itself in this type of harm's way. I don't either. And look, just because you can play doesn't mean you will play. And what Kiffin can say to these kids, check that. These professional athletes is we need to see the end game.

4:10And if the end game in two or three or six weeks from now allows you to play, you're with the team. We know they can practice with the team, but I can't play you. So you're here. We're going to take care of you, but I cannot risk what this means for the program. And I think that's how he handles this. And then along the way, he's just saying, hey, they're here. They're on the team. But we're still waiting and he'll play this game. But I agree with Paul. I don't think he risks that. And by the way, Paul Fynebaum brings up a very good point about Greg Sinky. Mike, you talked about that book that came out. I think the morning shift had the author on. John told you he was being lame this morning. And he's right. Like when Lane was going on through all his crap, Sinky was a fan and trying to help him through this. He's had a lot of people that had his back along the way. That right now, if he does this, he is sticking it to them. He's a weasel man again, agent for chaos is a great line for Lane Kiffin. And the other thing about this, you're also not supposed to be able to take a transfer from inside the conference. This kid last played an old miss with a D toward the Cleveland Brown.

5:12Yeah. That's a violation of SEC bylaws. You know, it lost all of this with the eligibility of the fifth year. Either way, we're going to find out Saturday. And this is going to be looked upon as the craziest time of college football. These temporary restraining orders, these ridiculous courtroom fiascoes, the charade that was yesterday in Baton Rouge, you know, playing out like a bad soap opera. It's come on. And the problem is there's no adults in the room. The governor's involved, right? The judges, the season ticket holders involved. You couldn't make this stuff up. Meanwhile, we mentioned the day the Falcons did resign, Braille and Trice to their practice squad. I find this very interesting. I find this interesting. So Colleague Kareem, who they also wanted back on the practice squad, basically refused. Now, a player has the right to do this. But I only bring this up to say, guess where he ends up? He's on his way to Melbourne, Mike.

6:13He's going to be with the 49ers. Now, for those of you who don't remember, he's been with the Falcons the last two years. Who is the 49ers defensive coordinator? Raheem Morris. Right, right. Who knows Colleague Kareem? Raheem Morris. So all of a sudden, he says, now I'm good. And now, he's on his way to Melbourne. He is signed with the 49ers. Wow. Yeah, it's just interesting. So Trice is back with us. But Colleague Kareem is not. And so if you're wondering, why did they bring him back? That's the reason why. Well, that's the problem. You go on the practice squad, as we said, that's why Jack Strand and why we carry four quarterbacks. It's not like, you know, there's a G league, you can stash a guy and you got his rights. Like, or, you know, like the NBA going plays in Europe. If you're on the practice squad, somebody can claim you. That's why Strand is here, which did create, if we're honest, a little bit of, you know, issues with flexibility. That's why so many folks are, I guess, in their bag about Zach Harrison and his seven games last year. How many did get four and a half sacks? Yeah. No doubt. 7:13Coach Sam. Oh, and by the way, Friday night. Forgot to mention this during a guy talk. It was mentioned a few weeks back. But the local Emmy Awards, Sam Crenshaw, is getting the award. I believe Carl is the coveted Silver Surfer Award. No, no, no, no. That's not at the award. What's that? That's Silver Surfer's not the award. It's what Mike told me from CBS. It's going to be an award and it's Silver and it's for Sam. Okay. That's it's about 25 years of excellence. And it's not the Silver Surfer. No, it is not the Silver. All right. Anyway, Sam's going to get, it's a major award. It is a major award. And it will be sent in a box. It says for Gilly. But yes, he is going to be recognized and rightfully so Sam's putting it down in the game. We love Sam and good dude, man. Yes, sir. I just want to mention this as we were talking about the, what was that, Mike? I was going to mention the, I sidetracked you with my, Sam Crenshaw. Oh, no, I was mentioning that coach in Sam Ron. It's Friday night after we get done. Big high school matchups tonight. Yes, at six. I was simply going to say in a little bit of time we have here, this hockey thing seems real.

8:15We had a great conversation with Steve Koon and he kind of laid out the obstacles. But he also said, look, there's still a lot to be determined. I just feel like guys, we said this way back when maybe six, eight months ago, we said, where there's smoke, there's fire. They have been in the background working and it just feels like Mike, there is real momentum here. Now I'm not telling him we're going to get hockey because it's still, we're probably still three or four years away. I mean, that's the thing. I mean, if Vernon Kraus has got enough money in the bank or he's got enough partners, I get a little nervous. I told Carl off the air. I've got such he be jeepies from Atlanta, spirit LLC. Let's have eight idiots and second generation rich kids basically try to run a sports team. They were all NBA jocks, didn't know anything about the NHL. And so that was like the throw in and then they were all suing each other. And that's why the NHL didn't take over Atlanta like they did with Arizona. Yep. We're a major market. They didn't want to get involved in the lawsuits. You realize that Atlanta spirit, the owners were suing each other. I mean, it was the biggest fiasco. So anyway, I just felt that as a hockey fan, we can support the NHL again.

9:15But is the NHL ever going to give us a third time? Tom Cousins went broke, had to sell the flames, just talked about what happened with the trashers. You know, I just think Carl, the NHL is going to probably go to Houston. Okay. And they may carry, you know, carried odd number teams before. It's not a guarantee you come in with two. And then do we have the wearable? Does Vernon Kraus have to go to five partners to come up with the bootie? Because it's going to be over what two billion dollars in loot and expansion. Do you think about that? Two billion dollars. Two billion dollars in expansion fees to have an interest to have the NHL team. Yeah, I just have the building is one thing, but is the NHL going to play ball with you? Well, they have to. If you're going to spend that money and here's the thing too, guys, when you build these arenas, and I know we just kind of take it for granted, you got to have events in them. Right. You just don't build it and go, well, it's empty. You better have some concerts and something that I don't think people know how many events happen on a regular ever since. It can't be sitting empty. Yes, like St. John. Arthur blank says, I'll build this damn thing, but then you look at all the events throughout the course of the year.

10:17We think Falcons. We think college football. There's so much more that goes on. So you build that arena. You better know that you've got these events that are coordinated and then that arena mic. And then you know, they talk about the battery kind of situation around it or whatever. Well, I'm not running any space out if you don't have events going on or if you don't have a team that's connected to that. So I just feel like there's a lot still there, but I do feel like there's real momentum. I just want to say that because we keep seeing these stories and we talked about it today, but nothing is yet. No, for 400%. I know everybody wants it in the Northern suburbs. Everybody wants NHL. I can't wait to get it back. I said on Twitter today, I don't care who gets it. If it's Anson Carter's group, it's going to be the North Point redevelopment or if it's the gathering itself force. And I know that people always go no way because I'm not driving downtown. Ressler still has the footprint inside state farm for a hockey rink. So I got the room for the same bony's. And by the way, he likes to keep that building full and they've got the Atlanta yards right across the street. Yep. Centennial yards, I should say. Well, to be quite honest with you, when you think about the battery, what we're doing downtown and what Tony Ressler is doing, it is the version of the battery downtown.

11:23It's revitalizing the area in downtown. You're going to have apartments and condos and then all the eateries and whatnot. I totally agree with you. We'll see where that ends up going. Hey, man, want to give a big shout out to everybody that came through today here at Hamilton Mill. My girl, where are you? Tea gear over there, Carl Buffalo. There's only one you tea Buffalo's cafe. That's what she said. They play man, they look what I want to see what they do tomorrow because look, I want to see how they look against Georgia. I'm really worried if I'm pranking Georgia tech because you're going to probably see better athletes, you know, with Josh Hyples volunteers next week. Yeah, it's going to be interesting. So I mean, again, Indiana, this season just feels like it's going to have one giant at. They should have the trophy should be an asterisk when it's given out in in December, January, whatever.

And then you physically got beat. It doesn't mean that Georgia Tech won't win a bunch of games. I hope they do. But at the end of the day, that's why I'm watching this weekend.
