I'm great how you doing? We're good. We're good man. So I mean there's a lot to talk about with the fills unfortunately. Let's start with Christopher Sanchez who had another sort of

1:08battled through it a bit but had a rough start last night. What is going wrong with Christopher Sanchez right now? It's location to me it's just I know he said reading the clips this morning that he had blue like symptoms fell kind of blue like before the game but he said I you know I felt okay so and I don't you know he's not a guy to me to make excuses he just he's not making his pitches I think a lot of it is that you know get get in behind and even when he does get ahead he's missing you know for a couple pitches and then it's all of a sudden it's a deep count and I think the big thing just his fastball command it's not he was he was was so good form down in his own in on right hand or is up in his own in being able to throw this fastball the outside down low right now he's just like he's throwing it fastball and draw it over some people are saying well he's tipping his pitches or picking stuff up.

2:11I mean they had a couple balls soft last night too they also had a couple balls hard yeah but it's just I think it's a matter of him just getting back in the zone and and I don't see anything mechanical which you know to and not say there's not I mean the bio methods and all that maybe they seem something there but I guess if they had seen it they would have adjusted or made some changes but I haven't heard anything of that so to me it just comes down and just mentally just not not making his pitches and not getting in his own like he had been. You know you you say and you know we can see it too that it's location when when a pitcher is is not you know putting the pitches where he wants to for an extended period of time maybe a couple starts whatever but extended period of time can that be can that be you know what's the word I'm looking for is he he's thrown a lot of innings like could it be that could it be or how do I guess that the bigger question is when you lose that how do you find it again.

3:15I think to me is getting back to you know some of that I was tied a long time ago when I was with the pillars the first time from lefty from Steve Crawlton as I thought precedes the action and I think it I know it's harder with the pitch clock because you don't have time to think when things start to go a little south which makes it tougher but I think you have to you have to tell yourself where you want to throw the ball not like I can't hang this or I can't get behind or because that's what's going to happen if you're thinking that. It's more of I've got to make this pitch here I've got to throw this pitch I'm going I'm going to not I have to but I'm going to and I think it sounds like too easy of a fix but I think that's a big part of it if I think for anything if you're if you're not trusting in yourself and believing in what you're doing full conviction. Your chances of doing things right are not that good or not as good put it that way and when you get yourself in a mindset of I'm going to do this I'm going to throw this fastball down in his own up in his own off the plate whatever it wherever it may be or whatever pitch it is or whatever you're doing if you're not thinking of that ahead of time.

4:24It makes it tougher then it just becomes like you're just throwing and hoping and that's that's not a real good result. Well speaking of doing things right it looks like Chris Chris Willer seems to be Chris Willer. We love wheels. Yeah not Chris. Come along. Yeah. Mr. Springtriangle. Yes. That's what a Christopher Sanchez. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That seems to be back on the right track. What you've noticed from him his last few starts and moving forward sort of having that confidence that he's back to being that ace again. I think just trusting his stuff. He now he said he talked about in a post game that one of the things they have with these biometrics about the stick figure he said it really opened his eyes through some adjustment he had to make with with his hands where his hands were when he came said. When he was going through his delivery I'm not I'm not real sure exactly because I have not seen the stick figure thing but but he really seemed to think that that helps him a lot.

5:26So I think anything that you do if it helps you it's going to make you better. I mean if you think it's helping you. All right. The thing I read about was he moved his hands two inches and I just two inches is hardly anything. What's the best? If you're really leasing a ball. Yeah well. Yeah. Let's just go. Yeah. Let's go. Yeah. Let's go. Yeah. What in the heck is going on? Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. I got this. There's something that stuff go around here. It was right there. Yeah. L.A. It was right there. Okay. Sorry. Sorry. Go ahead. But from from that from the standpoint of where your hands are in relation to your pitching delivery I two inches it doesn't seem like a lot but if it changes your release point even the slightest it can make a big difference. I from where your hands set moving them two inches to me doesn't seem like a lot but obviously it was a lot for Zach and that's you know that's what's most important that he felt like that was a difference for him and and kept him in line with the plate and go into the plate and to the towards the target.

6:32And if that's what it was for him then so be it but that I just I look like to me like when he's he was getting under his pitches a lot before. And I know he does that or I don't know if he does it on purpose but he does it when he rides as fastball high in his own and gets a lot of swings and misses up there and his his wrist kind of drops down a little bit intentionally to throw it up there and I felt like he was throwing a lot of his pitch you know besides as fastball he was throwing other pitches from that angle and I don't I don't think that was a good situation for him. So it looked to me it's what I've seen it just looks like as rich he's gotten on top of the ball better on his other pitches besides his high riding fastball. L.A. for about three weeks there maybe a month we had this wonderful situation where we were watching the fills and they weren't chasing as much they were getting on base they were moving guys over it seemed like there was this patient you know they they had a meeting whatever and then the last two or three weeks it just seems like it is gone.

7:34I'm wondering if you have seen the same thing and like what the why it was it just seemed like it was working so well it's so maddening to watch it go away. It's frustrating it's when you see you know I know we're facing tougher competition and when you're facing better teams generally because they have better pitching a lot of times and you face better pitching. You know maybe they do things differently but to me it's like how many times I've seen guys swing early in account on pitches up out of the zone or I mean it was back the back last night there was two hitters in a row after swarvers home run a high fastball first pitch well out of the zone and then a two o'clock slider down on the way off the plate not a strike and swinging up both those when those are pitches that prior we were taking we we were. I don't know what the mindset is because I was when I see it happen that sometimes I've said it on the air but not very often but but in my head on all the time I'm thinking is that the pitch you were looking for and if not why why are you swinging at it now with two strikes it's one thing it's there it's tougher not to chase I mean you have to just see the ball and react to it with two strikes but when you're ahead in the counter you're even an account and you don't have two strikes like I

8:58just a firm believer from from facing you know a lot of good here is my career that they look for a pitch and if it's there they're going to they're going to do something with it and if it's not there they take it where it's. 10:26Like they're going up there looking like this is what I want this is what I'm looking for and if I get it I'm going to I'm going to you know swing hard and get it I'm going to go after it but now it's just like seeing guys swinging freely and it just comes back to me in my head it's like where's the thought process in that where what was the thought I would love to hear what some of these guys think when they come back to the bench after swinging at some of the stuff they have it's frustrating and I know it's frustrating for them they've been why did I swing at that I think. But if you're thinking ahead of time just like our base running if you're thinking ahead of time with the ball is here where am I going to go am I going to go watching the cubs last night somebody hit a ground ball the short stop and I was thinking to run around second with Shaw I think ran back to second base on a ground ball the short he was a second with less than two outs like well they don't have to do it. What's why is that so hard for us and I know it's different story but now is this great point yeah yeah yeah well and look you

11:26and he's he's I think Bryce is not the only one that is doing this I want to be clear he's just a good example of it. Yeah in 28 games in August he walked 31 times in September there's been 13 games he's walked five times so he's clearly not so like it goes from elective he goes from one more than a walk a game to a walk every almost three games right right you know like that was yeah and the point earlier was 2 and 0 2 and 0 slider down in a way it's like why why are you even thinking about that why that your bet should never have been come off your shoulder and I know it's hard and I know he's a great hitter and I know he's put up some great numbers but when you get to this point you have to like he said you know they've also we need to grind out these at bats well that's not grinding out in a bat that's like being afraid to get a strike on it's 2 and 0 what so what if it's 2 and 1 right but it wouldn't have been but I don't know it's yeah it it just seems one of it one of the signature mentality things that you know when you and

12:28again long season out absolutely but one of the signature things over the last few years with the fillies has been when they get into a rut and they start and they fix it and they do something to fix it as soon as he gets fixed they go right back to the way they used to be they're like okay it's all fixed now we can go back and try to you know swing away we're scoring runs now and as soon as they do that it goes away you know and it's been it makes it I made the point earlier is like we all love the team we want them to do great yeah when they're when they're in this mode is very hard man to get it in your brain and go oh this team's gonna do it they they just they don't give off that vibe right now yeah it's hard to get up yeah and it's it's I mean I mean I'm a fan I know I work for the team and have played for the team but I'm a fan now I'm not I'm no longer a player I'm a fan yeah and I've watched I've played with guys that I know play the game right played the game right and and it's not that I know so much about the game but I learned a lot from a lot of these guys yeah and I

13:33learned about it and and that's when I don't see those things happening I it just it's it's frustrating and you go I mean I said it maybe two weeks ago I think I mentioned that you know off the air I mentioned two some of the guys that I just I'm concerned I'm scared about this offense and they kind of looked at me like like you're really scared like well okay I'm frustrated what what word do you want me to know I'm worried yeah I'm worried about it and it's it's not because I don't want them to do good it's because I do want them to do right that's the whole point it's like we all want them to do well we all want this to happen for them for the for the fans for the city for the organization for themselves yeah but it's that's the where the frustration comes in and I think that's where some people you know myself person I think people will look at say well you're too negative I'm like no I'm honest yes I'm realistic I'm commenting on what I'm seeing if

15:39a week and a half ago when we were thinking about maybe overtaking the braves man yeah I mean and that's to me a big thing is get is overtaken the cubs and we have to beat him by a game we can't be tied with them because they have the tiebreaker so we have to beat him by a game and that's a tough road ahead of for us you know not that they have an easy schedule but we've got a tough one and the way the mets are playing I think they'd be like about 10 days ago there was a thing where said the Phillies had the best records since August and the mets had the second best records since August. Mets are playing some good ball they've got some good pitching they got some young guys and the team starting to play like a team now it's not going to be easy a four game series. No they would love and they would love city field where the Phillies always play play bad and you know the mets would love to ruin the Phillies. It would love to. It's turned the wheel a little bit back and would it be so crazy would it because maddenly said they were going to do this that they were going to all going to meet would it be so crazy to get in front of this team every few weeks every month and say hey base running here are like a football team all on the screen here's a base running air here's another base running here. Here's where you should be. Don't they meet every week. Why don't I know it's both years three weeks they have organizational meetings every three weeks. Yeah. Speed it up. Yeah. Yeah. Third week. Well I want the organizational meeting and then the next day I want to meeting with the players about the organizational meeting and if it means showing on a screen in front of everybody somebody swinging at a first pitch out of the zone. These examples of what not to do. Yes. Yes. You football players handle it fine. Man they and they do it a lot. Yeah. Yes.

You don't want to let the balls go. They don't want to let you get the two strikes and strike out. But regardless they're still clearly not doing the same things they were. Well and the way it's supposed to work is like if they are not throwing pitches out of the zone if they have to be in the zone more you should be able to hit them better.
