1:00Well, howdy there internet people. It's bell again. So today we're going to talk about Doomer's climate, sharks and loans. In a recent video, I talked about a UN report that indicated it's all but guaranteed. We, as a society, failed to achieve the goal set in the Paris agreement and that we will not keep the temperatures below 1.5 degrees Celsius. That led to a question about scope and scale. Quote. Bell. You said there was no reason to start burning tires for heat. I'm not sure that's the case. It kind of looks like we're cooked. I read the report about losing New Orleans and if that doesn't wake people up, nothing will. We won't make the quick changes and we will overshoot. Why shouldn't I be a Doomer? Getting a Doomer is complying in advance. Don't complying in advance.

2:02This isn't a your pregnant or your not moment. It isn't go or no go. It isn't that at a specific point everything turns to an extinction-level event. It's more like borrowing money from the mob. Our society used fossil fuels even after we knew it was obsolete and harmful and in doing so we took money from a loan shark. We will pay. We can pay in cash upfront and it'd be uncomfortable to transition. Or we can wait for them to break our fingers. Then our knees. Then the climate change loan shark will bust out our store and destroy the economy. Then it'll put us in the hospital. Then once it knows we'll never pay, it'll put us in the ground. The report basically says, Polly is looking for us talking about us being late with the big. He's going to break our fingers because we missed our deadline. We still have a chance to avoid having our knees busted.

3:04If those who care about the climate adopt Doomerism now and drop out of the fight, it's over. We actually need people who will take the time to read things like the report about New Orleans so they can explain it to other people. We need people to vote for the climate. And then work through other cities that will be lost, other activities that will cease to exist, foods that will be lost along the way, creature comforts and so on.

5:08Don't jump straight to the end scenarios. They've had their brains cooked by post-apocalyptic movies. And everybody thinks they'll be the one who survives. There are millions of mediocre men in this country who are absolutely convinced. They'll be one of the ones who could make it through. Yet most don't know their bare basics we cover on the roads with bell when we do the explainers about survival. They don't know the 101 level stuff. But they're convinced they'll survive the final exam. Stick to talking about the modern comforts that will disappear first. Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.
