Lindor's Recovery on Track for Opening Day

New York Met's shortstop Francisco Lendor underwent surgery on February 11th to repair

a stress reaction in his left hamat bone.

That's the small wrist bone crucial for grip and swing power, keeping him out of spring

training games so far.

The Met's are playing it's safe this time, learning from last year's experience with

catcher Francisco Alvarez.

He had the same procedure, returned too quickly, hit a slump, and needed minorly time to

get back on track.

Fans and the team know Lendor's value all too well.

Coming off a standout season with 31 home runs, 31 stolen bases, and top offensive production,

he's the heart of their line of hitting, into a playoff push.

Recovery has progressed steadily, 10 days post surgery, he removed the heavy wraps.

By March 2nd, he started catch sessions, and lately he's handled defensive work in

minorly games.

This week, Lendor took two handed swings in the batting cage and is nearing full batting

practice on the field.

Officials say he's right on pace for opening day on March 26th against the Pirates, with

no regular season games missed.
