The New York Metz head into the new season with fresh hope after a busy offseason.

Star Shore staff Francisco Lindor is recovering from surgery on a broken Hamate bone in his

left hand.

Manager Carlos Mendoza shared a positive update, saying Lindor might return by opening day.

Mendoza told reporters it's still too early to know for sure.

He pointed out Lindor's drive, adding the player could show up ready just before spring

training ends.

Fans and the team see Lindor as a key clubhouse leader alongside Outfielder Juan Soto.

His return would live spirits after last year's tough finish.

The Metz also revamped their roster by parting ways with veterans like First Basement, Pete

Alonzo, and Outfielder Brandon Nemo.

In the meantime, the team has a solid backup plan at shortstop.
