Lions Eye Offensive Line Shakeup, Sewell's Versatility in Spotlight

The Detroit Lions are eyeing changes to their offensive line ahead of next month's NFL

draft.

ESPN draft expert Mel Kuiper Jr. suggests they might shift star right tackle Penae

Suule to the left side, depending on who they pick at number.

Seventeen overall.

Suule is a three time all pro who's been a fixture on the right, but the team needs

to fill gaps after some roster moves.

Earlier this off season, the Lions let go of longtime starters, Taylor Decker, and

Graham Glasgow to cut costs.

They brought in center Cade Mays and tackle Larry Borum through free agency, plus traded

for guard juice scrugs.

That leaves three key returners including Suule and a couple of guards, but the left tackle

spot remains open.

Kuiper stresses not messing with a good thing, calling Suule a great player who can adapt.

He points out that modern pass rushers attack the weaker side, so flexibility matters more

than sticking to old left right rules.

Fans and analysts see this as a smart way to maximize the line's strength without forcing

bad fits.

This draft class is loaded with tackles so Detroit could grab a gem in the first round.

Names like Clemson's Blake Miller, whose NFL ready at right tackle, or Alabama's Cade

and Proctor, who can play both sides, might decide Suule's spot.

George's Monroe Freeling is a top left tackle prospect who could slide if teens pass.

With options aplenty, the Lions are poised to build a powerhouse line that fits their scheme

perfectly, keeping eyes on Suule's versatility as the draft nears.
